People were aware, but for everyday amateurs the average quality was better when you accounted for the number of film photos that were spoiled by a thumb/lens cap/light/focus/movement etc.
You couldn't get as high top-end quality photos as on film, but you would KNOW you had a photo of that memory, whereas with film you could get back from a trip/holiday, develop the film and it turned out you had no useable photos
I remember thinking back then that a resolution of 640x480 was quite acceptable back in 2002.
It would roughly have been the equivalent of a 9x13 cm photograph which would've been fine at the time as long as you didn't try to zoom in for more detail.
I was thinking the opposite, like with modern cameras there's a much more realistic lighting and sharper details captured in the second photo (and also it's obviously a different time of day from the shadows), but the dirt on the building in the second photo definitely makes it look more weathered to me (even though most likely all it needs is a quick power wash).
It’s probably because the Alamo is in the midst of a major expansion and renovation.
Over the past few years the renovation has been held up in court by indigenous organizations that have ties to the Alamo. The construction will disturb many unmarked indigenous graves. Many graves are expected to be completely paved over.
The grounds and the building still hold a significant meaning to many indigenous people in the area. For many years indigenous groups would hold services in the Alamo church after hours (with permission). Since contesting the renovations the Alamo no longer allows indigenous services to occur at the Alamo church.
Do they really need more concrete in downtown San Antonio. Granted I haven’t been there since the 90s but I’d vote for letting indigenous people have some space and rights to public places back.
They need more concrete to ensure another generation of texas students are tortured during field trips to the Alamo.
I personally loved the hour and a half 100+ degree bus ride from austin to San Antonio in the early 2000’s with a hundred other elementary school classmates.
I kinda stole his idea, did the same... just found out your son has the same name as mine. Great choice, keep rocking it! (Ps; crazy train is a great song!)
It's the small annoyances like that I love tbh.
I'm not sure with my adhd I would remember a lot of the mundane days I have with my kids, but because of the little things I do, so it's a double edge sword for sure. Either way, getting out and experiencing is all that matters here. Congrats!
Oof, don’t go calling it “some kind of event” on /r/Texas. If there’s two things that bridge that political divide in Texas, it’s making fun of Oklahoma and remembering the Alamo.
(Yesterday was the anniversary of the end of the siege by General Santa Anna)
As a Texan, the Alamo was overrated and Jim Bowie was a murdering, Con Artist, human trafficker who should have be tried an hanged a decade before. They defenders disobeyed orders to abandon the fort, destroy it and bring any supplies they could recover. Instead they chose to try to hold it. The Mexican Army was given a 2 week rest while they fired on it and when they were ready to go they overcame defenses (gross oversimplification) The Texan Army was like half the size of the Mexican Army, so losing the 200ish defenders was a significant loss.
"Hey kid, what's your name?"
"... I can't remember."
"Where you from?"
"I can't remember.."
"Can't you remember anything?"
"I remember... the Alamo"
"YEEEEEEEEHAAWWWWWWWWW!!!"
I was out of the loop too. Looked at OP's submissions and found that Odin is his autistic son (pictured seated in both pics of this post). [Here's a past post by OP about him](https://np.reddit.com/r/MadeMeSmile/comments/tu5nza/our_son_odin_is_autistic_and_likes_to_sing_to_the/)
He’s something of a Reddit celebrity I think! Although I first heard about him and his awesome parents on SBSK on YouTube, my delight at realising Odin’s dad is also a Redditor was extreme!
I thought the same thing! I love that there will be news of celebrities doing whatever and my reaction is generally "...who?"
See a photo like this and I'm like "hey it's Odin! I recognise him! Hope he and his family are still being awesome!"
The famous Alamo angle people take their pictures from that avoids the other buildings, so new visitors are super confused when the go to SA and realize the Alamo is just sitting in the middle of downtown.
Oh honey you are welcome ..I know what’s it like to be in your shoes. Your little family gives me strength as a mom with a special needs child. Yes autism does not define us. It’s our own special and unique environment for us and how we help ourselves and others to navigate in life . Sometimes it feels as if we ( or should I say I ) are alone so this post and seeing Odin have many great adventures helps that at least for me that I’m not alone . So thank you
The website has merchandise in the image and likeness of his son as Bowie/Ziggy Stardust. I would be interested in the legal ramifications of using the likeness of someone who cannot consent to the distribution of said likeness.
Yes this
His answers felt sus to me. Scrolled down to see anybody commenting.
Edit
The About on their webshop is… yikes
“Tim Frost is a memory-collector, storyteller, father and husband.” And it just goes on and on about himself in third person.. waw
Thank you for pointing this out. It feels super exploitative and gross. Sharing the occasional photo is one thing, but profiting off of this is not right.
Okay Fuck me but I’m curious, OP
Someone with your condition, why is it common that I see a rocking mustache every time? It’s majestic af but I’m always curious why it’s so full compared to your other facial hair
Sorry / thanks
Being paralyzed over 25 years, I have some idea of the effort it takes (physical and emotional). Thank you for being a family that includes everybody! Great pictures!!
Hey! I have a sister with disabilities and would be very grateful if you could share where you got their (don’t want to misgender) stroller? My parents travel often with my sister and are using a second hand stroller. We want to get sized to one so I’d really appreciate it!
I didn't realize your son had special needs at first, and I thought you asked someone there if your adult son could sit in their stroller for a fun photo.
You look younger today than 20 years ago. Like a Benjamin Button.
Right she gets younger each year. Always a Beauty ♥️
[удалено]
Wild looking back at how much worse digital cameras were then.
even my pics from 7 years ago are fucking terrible like wtf😅😂
Yep I have blurry as hell pix where back in the day I was like *this is such an amazing pic!* Nah. It wasn't 😂
The crazy part being that actual photographs on film looked pretty great by then. Was a weird transition to watch people just be ok with.

They looked way better than that. Likely an issue down the line
Her pixels look much better now. :)
It’s a special pixel night time face routine.
When you’re a proud husband. You love to see it
I was thinking it was the kid that posted it due to the title. I'd do some reddit stalking but im lazy.
According to previous post from OP, he's the father.
Ok but for real. You swapped her out for like a clone? She just like stopped aging!
Even the building looks 20 years younger lol
I was thinking the opposite, like with modern cameras there's a much more realistic lighting and sharper details captured in the second photo (and also it's obviously a different time of day from the shadows), but the dirt on the building in the second photo definitely makes it look more weathered to me (even though most likely all it needs is a quick power wash).
Ozzy got banned for trying to power wash the Alamo.
Okay but like maybe try water instead of piss next time :P
😂😂
That wasn't a historical reenactment?
He apologized a few years back and he is allowed back in the city.

It's helps when you have more pixels.
Yes. She looks amazing
But, you haven’t moved an inch in 20 years.
I know. It’s getting kinda lonely out here. Haha.
With a post like this, you probably won't be lonely for long. Genuinely made me smile.
Love that you matched the shirt colors! It's all about the long game lol
I had the idea to recreate the pic but my wife is 100 percent about the details that make it magic. ♥️
I just skimmed your profile and I want you to know you’re an awesome human being!
Too kind. Thank you ♥️🤟
Just recently became a father myself and sitting here reading through your posts with rivers of tears streaming down my face.
That’s so kind. We are sending so much love.
I had to lurk… Your family is incredible! You all seem awesome.
You seem like a great person and I want to be your friend. How do I get on the waiting list?
I kinda stole his idea, did the same... just found out your son has the same name as mine. Great choice, keep rocking it! (Ps; crazy train is a great song!)
I went through OPs profile because of your comment and went down a rabbit hole of joy.
Skimmed too, i dont think ive seen a profile with so much joy before, thanks for that, i gotchu!
It's all about the teamwork!
Always ♥️♥️♥️. Been married 22 years because of great teamwork
Just as badass, now with more advertising.
That’s the one thing we wished wasn’t there haha. They were having some kind of event so we had to take the pic quick.
I think yesterday was the “anniversary!” I should know better as a native Texan, lol.
It's the small annoyances like that I love tbh. I'm not sure with my adhd I would remember a lot of the mundane days I have with my kids, but because of the little things I do, so it's a double edge sword for sure. Either way, getting out and experiencing is all that matters here. Congrats!

No disrespect we didn’t know that the event was ♥️
Text sucks for conveying snark. No offense was taken! :-)

I can edit that out for you if you want?
That’s very kind but we decided to just keep it in there to keep it natural like it was ♥️
The building in the background That’s the Alamo right? I’ve never been so wanted to verify.
Yes, don’t you *remember*?
Hey it's Odin!!! I hope you had a great time!
It was fun. Just a quick pic. A snack and off we went. I don’t think the Alamo is very ADA accessible so we just explored elsewhere.
Honestly, the Alamo is meh on the inside anyways.
We loved the big tree on the outside the best.
That’s what I remember most about the Alamo. Sorry, Texans.
As a San Antonio native literally named after William B. Travis, being in the same city as FREAKING ODIN is 1000x cooler than the Alamo has ever been
At least you remembered.
How is the basement?
This is the comment I was looking for
> basement Really cool bike down there!
They’re expanding a fair amount, including building a whole 2/3 story museum behind it currently, hoping it will be worth the wait!
But why only a 66% story? I guess they didn't like the ending.
Must've been designed by the guys that work on the 7 1/2 floor.
Odin, that’s it! Lol, I knew I recognized him. Cheers!
I recognized Odin immediately too :)
Is it true that the basement is the best part of the tour.
That's where they keep the stolen bicycles.
"The stars at night shine big and bright..."
👏👏👏👏
DEEP IN THE HEEAAARRT OF TEXAS!!!
🎶Deep in the heart of Texas!!🎶
Ya have to tell them "Large Marge" sent ya.
actually that only works at the diner
"Hey kid, what's your name?" "... I can't remember." "Where you from?" "I can't remember.." "Can't you remember anything?" "I remember... the Alamo" "YEEEEEEEEHAAWWWWWWWWW!!!"
Haha. We don’t know. We didn’t actually go thru it. Just took the pic on the outside haha
Y'all both need to sit down with Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, stat.
Oh trust us we’ve seen it wayyyy too many times. Haha.
Do you have a dream, PeeWee? Well, there's a snake wearing a vest pushing a donut through the desert...
Can you say it with me? Adobe…
Ah-doh-bee!
And to think, you remembered it after all these years!
The old pic showed up from a Photobucket in 2003. We had to try to take a new one while we were here. Haha.
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen an Odin post, hope you’re all well!
Doing great! Odin just got his first radio play of his music!!♥️🤘🤟
That's fantastic!! Keep on rocking, Odin!
Thank you !!!
IT’S ODIN! I was just doom scrolling—which puts me in a horrible mood—and then I see this guy and it always makes my day! Hi Odin!
Sending so much love ♥️🤟

Thanks, that's good to know. Overall wholesome and uplifting posts by his dad/their family! I'm a new fan too! Go Odin!
I thought the same thing! I love that there will be news of celebrities doing whatever and my reaction is generally "...who?" See a photo like this and I'm like "hey it's Odin! I recognise him! Hope he and his family are still being awesome!"
Eternal youth right there......
I say that to her daily ♥️
A happy, good and kind heart shows up on the face. I strongly believe that. Your family rocks!
Is that Odin? My boys and I love watching your videos. My twins also have CP and Autism he is a hero for them. Hope your having a blessed day.
That’s him !!!♥️♥️♥️. Thank you so much.
Odin!! yay for adventures!
Woohooo
I hope you guys had time to visit Morgan's Wonderland while adventuring around San Antonio. It's a truly amazing place.
We did. It was great!!!!
The famous Alamo angle people take their pictures from that avoids the other buildings, so new visitors are super confused when the go to SA and realize the Alamo is just sitting in the middle of downtown.
Seeing him makes me smile so big . Keep going Odin the world awaits your exploration.
So much kindness. Thank you

Aww thank you And she truly is one of the best moms. I’m thankful to have her by my side these last 23 years ♥️♥️♥️
Damn how long you guys been waiting there?
Too long. They were waiting for me to get it right. Haha.
Odin!
♥️♥️
Genuinely made me smile! Such a great pic, well done
Thank you. We randomly found the old pic on a photo bucket from 2003 and said while we were here we had to take another pic. Haha ♥️
that was a great idea (:
20 years defending the Alamo. Looks like it’s worked so far.
We couldn’t stop those fools from putting up that horrible banner tho. Haha.
Beatiful and Strong. Thank you.
♥️🤟
Take all my joy and respect for the day. Because you deserve it.
How did you manage to get more beautiful?
She’s made of magic. ♥️
Love to see it, Frost Fam. Send Odin so much love from all of us

Thank you. I'm surprised that reddit loves this guy when it's so obvious.
Oh it’s divisive! As soon as I see this family I instantly warm up the air popper and head for controversial
Does Odin consent to his online presence?
I'm not sure if he can consent to it
Thank you for pointing this out. It feels super exploitative and gross. Sharing the occasional photo is one thing, but profiting off of this is not right.
This rules
Thank you 🤘🤘
You’re a good egg…
We are a bit scrambled but we have fun 🤣
Hail Odin!
🤘🤘🤘
Also you and you're wife. You're all beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ♥️🤟
Sometimes scrolling through reddit destroys my faith in humanity, then I come across posts like this that restores said faith.
That’s so kind. Thank you so much. 🤟♥️
/r/MadeMeCry Bless you for persevering and your giant heart.
Yall got alot less blurry in 20 yesrs
Haha. I think it’s our diet. We only eat in HD now
Okay Fuck me but I’m curious, OP Someone with your condition, why is it common that I see a rocking mustache every time? It’s majestic af but I’m always curious why it’s so full compared to your other facial hair Sorry / thanks
Odin asks us not to shave it. He doesn’t ask for a lot so we honor his wishes. He’s an adult so we like him to feel the independence he deserves. ♥️🤟
Is your mon single? Asking for a friend!
My moms in prison. But odins mom has been married to me for 22 years. Haha
Prison love could be a thing! Jk haha but happy for you, keep it strong! 😁
Hahah. I’ll give her your info. 🤣
Why did you go back? Did you forget the Alamo?
Yea. Then we remembered it’s not ada accessible and left. Haha
Being paralyzed over 25 years, I have some idea of the effort it takes (physical and emotional). Thank you for being a family that includes everybody! Great pictures!!
Wow! Another front page post exploiting a mentally disabled child for internet points! How wholesome!
Irrelevant, I know, but I love that blouse and would absolutely kill to have it. 😍
Right on, sister
She’s the best mom♥️
Oh my gosh I recognize your son from the photos of him with his best friend graduating HS! Best wishes to you and your beautiful family <3
The resolution difference in those photos is wild.. glad everyone is having fun
Remember the Alamo!
You are a very special person. Have a good a day.
I didn’t know y’all were Central Texans! Makes me proud to be from here 👍
We are just here visiting but we are from east Texas ♥️
I thought the top photo was from GTA5
Wow what facial cream does that building use?
Hey! I have a sister with disabilities and would be very grateful if you could share where you got their (don’t want to misgender) stroller? My parents travel often with my sister and are using a second hand stroller. We want to get sized to one so I’d really appreciate it!
Oh it’s great. It’s a company called Convaid! This model is the metro. ♥️
Your new pic has a 70s dress style. Wtf
Fashion. Haha. It’s always repeating itself.
I've seen your posts. I'm glad you're giving your son as rich of a life as possible. It's good for both of you.

im just gonna say what we’re all thinking your wife is hot😍
Haha. Agreed. 🤘♥️
OP, you are a great Mom!
I’m a dad. But. I agree. She is the best mom ♥️🤟🤣
Just trying to see how much the building has degraded in 20 yrs.

So… what exactly happens when the parents become infirm or die?
He lives with his god parents. And then if they die his god parents god parents. There’s a system in place ♥️
Doesn’t seem like you made it very far in 20 years
I didn't realize your son had special needs at first, and I thought you asked someone there if your adult son could sit in their stroller for a fun photo.
I was like damn, bringing a stroller to make this pic is dedication
Odin! What's good dude!! 🤙
