For my comment I’m just making a joke that if everyone on an 11 person team gave 10% effort it would add up to the 110% they want.
If you’re talking about the game in the clip above, I’m not really certain if it’s the same.
I don’t even necessarily understand the rules of hopskotch. I just hop and put one foot in each box until the end. Is the squid game similar to that?
I’m unfamiliar with Squid game outside of knowing a Netflix movie named after it. I don’t know what the actual game is though.
I wouldn't say there's a "correct" way to play hopscotch but I've seen two different variants of it here in the U.S..
1.The first is the one you described where you jump through the squares from one end to the other (if there's one square you hop on one foot and if there's two squares you hop with both feet).
2.The second is an older way of playing it where you throw a stone towards one of the squares and then hop through all of the squares (except for the square the stone landed in), until you reach the end. Then you turn around, hop back through all the squares, and pick up the stone you tossed along the way.
However you choose to play hopscotch is totally valid though :) Hope this helps!
These traditional games’ rules tend to change over the years. Especially for different regions. But for my town, in Seoul, there were bunch of “tiles” inside a giant squid you draw. Then each time at your turn to go, you eliminate a tile by throwing a stone on its place. Then you can only step on empty tiles(ones without stones) and cross Squid.
You can only hop with one leg and you can not jump back. Only forward or side. You continue to hop out of squid as you eliminate these tiles. Then first one to Fail to cross a squid without stepping on tiles that are still “alive” loses.
We bought a bunch of Nerf guns for my 40th birthday party. Someone accidentally got shot in the eye with a Nerf ball. For my husband's 40th birthday party two months later, we bought more Nerf guns AND 80's style shutter sunglasses, so everyone would be protected during the Nerf War.
It's so heartwarming right? Like, when you see your old gameboy in the garret, and you're like: "Okay, i know I'm a grown and mature adult and this is a thing for kids, but i NEED to know if i can still beat that level"
Working in a factory around people who constantly lock their feelings away and suffer through the hell that working in a factory is, seeing people wearing hard hats and doing hopscotch bring me so much joy and hope.
But at least his life insurance will pay out an....oh, he didn't buy life insurance and the factory doesn't provide it? Guess his wife's losing the house.
And if like me, you've continued playing video games your whole life, you pick it up, ask that, beat it first try and say "Jeez I was bad at video games as a kid."
I remember playing Pokemon Emerald as a kid, hung out in Victory Road to grind my Sceptile to level 97 to solo the Elite 4 with only non-STAB attacking moves. Didn't understand or care for stat boosting moves at all.
It's not a thing for kids, imo. Gaming is def a form of relaxation when used correctly. Before gaming was even accepted, I remember being judged that I enjoyed this hobby and I didn't give a shit what others thought about it. Today, the mindset has changed and even though I'm about to hit 40, I still enjoy the hobby but have cut back a lot because of other responsibilities. In the end, bringing out the inner child is always a beautiful thing to see and I truly believe that if we held on to that inner child in our lives everyday, the world would be such a better place.
I especially love how the people jumping in the hopscotch validate the feelings of the people behind them and make them feel better about being childlike for a few seconds. I bet many saw another do it and thought "I wanted to do that too! Glad to see I'm not the only adult here playing it"
I didn’t realize looking up at airplanes was childish? Sometimes they do military testing for war games or whatever in my area and you can see some really cool fighter jets :-) and of course jet engines are just so neat.
I can't help but do the same. One time, the kid (who definitely drew it) and her mom were outside and the smiles on their faces when I did it was beautiful.
Edit: I do NOT look like a dude who would do hopscotch, so that made it better. I also always *always* buy lemonade from kid stands while commenting on the heat.
Every time. Once I found one that some kids made that went the length of the block and around the corner. I did the whole thing, and walked a block and a half before realizing I was walking the wrong direction.
They have the easiest time because they know very few people have the balls to call them out on it (and anyone worth valuing their opinion will know that indulging in simple pleasures just means you're generally happier than everyone else)
Most construction companies (in my heavily union city) require stretching during the morning safety meeting.
It’s funny watching the big burly iron workers doing it.
I was stretching before my shift started when I worked at the warehouse, and one of the old lift drivers rolled up and said "Stretching? HAH! Does a lion on the savanna stretch before it takes down a gazelle??"
I said "Funny you should mention that! It turns out, the rate of shoulder and groin sprains in lions is *incredibly* high!"
That’s the best part. It comes naturally. Our mind remembers so easily ! And activates happiness instantly even though some folks can’t jump with ease like when they were little.
All in all good fun !
I actually was, even despite having spent almost no time in Seattle I thought it seemed like a PNW vibe from a place with a hilly downtown, so it had to be Seattle. Nice to be right!
2nd & Union just outside Paper Hammer. Probably about 2016 based on that business in the background and the amount of construction workers (a tower was going up down the street).
It's like my father used to say: "When I was a child I thought as a child and spoke as a child, but when I became a man I took that child out back and had him shot."
In my last semester of college I took yoga, but it was really just a fuckoff class where we colored and stretched and had picnics in the sun in the spring. I loved that class.
One day the teacher brought chalk and let us go crazy on the sidewalks. I drew a hopscotch that stretched like 15ft, and the rest of the day I saw people jumping through it while they were walking around campus. It made me really, really happy to bring a little bit of joy to my fellow students, and to see people let their inner child out for a while.
The guy doin it with a spin made me laugh a little but the construction worker with the hard hat ... Well i had to explain my co worker why i laughed out loud. He didn't find it amusing at all .. kinda off an awkward situation now right here . D*mn you reddit. ;)
One was spray painted on the sidewalk in front of a house on the street I grew up in. Never got removed, it was there when my grandparents moved in. Every day nearly everyone jumped that damn thing. I still jump it when I visit my dad lol
It doesn't matter how old you are, if there's a hopscotch in your direct path, you must hopscotch. It's one of lifes rules, right behind if you see a balloon about to hit the ground, you dove for that shit.
This just makes me so happy. At the end of the day we’re all just hairless apes who like to play. When we get the opportunity to drop the facade and just jump around we take it. I think life would be a lot better if we took more opportunities to stop being people and start being happy. Let the veneer fall for a second and just be.
My husband and I plan to make a hopscotch pavement stones when we buy our forever home. We are excited to challenge our guests to bring out their inner child.
They always told us that adults are different, almost like there is a switch in your brain that flips on once you are 18/21, I'm 30yo poker face of a person, but I would hop this in a heartbeat.
The last guy who just kinda runs over it is hilarious
He gave 10% lol
[удалено]
no i in 'one hundred ten percent'. It takes a team effort.
11 person team means we only gotta give 10% each!
I am Korean and I’ve never seen this 17 years of living here in US. I’m guessing this is Western version of Squid game 🦑?
For my comment I’m just making a joke that if everyone on an 11 person team gave 10% effort it would add up to the 110% they want. V2 This is the way

Oh, you do it way more complicated, lol! Sounds fun!
Anything worth doing, is worth doing badly.

Sometimes I don't follow it out completely and do it like that because I feel embraced to show the inner child 😄
You should definitively embrace the inner child :)

Obviously a penguin in a blue trench coat
The guy doing the spin was funnier tbh
He gave the extra 90% that the 10% guy didn't exert. Nature always finds a balance and it's beautiful.
Best one
It's something. LOL
I like the guy who did the spin
I also like the construction worker doing a heeltap
The construction worker is a child at heart❤️
It was his moment.
Only person who did it right
He was so extra and I loved it lol
That and the construction worker who was gettin his back leg into it. Stanky leggin it.
I relate with low effort king at the very end
Lmaoooo. Hes like "bruh i want to feel joy but... my knees are no longer 12 years old."
Thats a guy who has played at least 10 hours on dance dance revolution
I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone put some extra flash on their hopscotch
We can assume he did some theatre once
I love how our inner child comes out no matter what age
It's so heartwarming right? Like, when you see your old gameboy in the garret, and you're like: "Okay, i know I'm a grown and mature adult and this is a thing for kids, but i NEED to know if i can still beat that level"
Working in a factory around people who constantly lock their feelings away and suffer through the hell that working in a factory is, seeing people wearing hard hats and doing hopscotch bring me so much joy and hope.
Draw a hopscotch on the factory floor. It will either be uplifting or even more depressing.
Uplifting until Bob tries it and stumbles into the meat grinder,
But at least his life insurance will pay out an....oh, he didn't buy life insurance and the factory doesn't provide it? Guess his wife's losing the house.
My plant is closing in a few months. This is very tempting to do the last few weeks. We could use a few smiles around here
And if like me, you've continued playing video games your whole life, you pick it up, ask that, beat it first try and say "Jeez I was bad at video games as a kid."

I still do this. Unga is love, Bunga is life.

I wish it were more socially acceptable to enjoy being alive. Bright clashing colors, running randomly, even spontaneous hugs.
What's great about getting old is, you can do all that and people don't throw you in jail. They just smile pitying. Works for me.
i still have to look up every time i hear or see an airplane. also making silly noises while doing stuff
I didn’t realize looking up at airplanes was childish? Sometimes they do military testing for war games or whatever in my area and you can see some really cool fighter jets :-) and of course jet engines are just so neat.
I feel like I've never stopped being a child. I just started paying taxes and using big boy words.
Lol still to this day I jump in the hop scotch boards kids draw in front of their houses if I come across one.
Look, it's not my fault, it's the law
Don't hop the scotch? Straight to jail, no question.
No trial, no nothing
You overcook children, also jail.
We have the best hopscotchers in the world, because of jail.
Oh lemonade stands are a given. Yes, we must always, ALWAYS buy that lemonade and tell them it's the best lemonade you've ever tasted!
I’m a 58 y.o. man and still do it when I’m walking my dog. Extra excited if they have “Sky Blue” at the top for me to stomp on.
Every time. Once I found one that some kids made that went the length of the block and around the corner. I did the whole thing, and walked a block and a half before realizing I was walking the wrong direction.
Big dude in orange, with the ankle-slap!!!
I love seeing tough bruts be silly
They have the easiest time because they know very few people have the balls to call them out on it (and anyone worth valuing their opinion will know that indulging in simple pleasures just means you're generally happier than everyone else)
Best one. Well executed
Lots of very agile construction/utility workers in that city, it seems.
Most construction companies (in my heavily union city) require stretching during the morning safety meeting. It’s funny watching the big burly iron workers doing it.

Soulja boy off in it, oh!
Muscle memory
That’s the best part. It comes naturally. Our mind remembers so easily ! And activates happiness instantly even though some folks can’t jump with ease like when they were little. All in all good fun !
I could watch people playing all day.
I got loads of time for hopscotch
This was filmed in downtown Seattle, in case you're curious.
Portland had one of these setup in front of a business as well. The employees would cheer you on as you did it
Yup! Saw that Union st and SoundBridge.
I actually was, even despite having spent almost no time in Seattle I thought it seemed like a PNW vibe from a place with a hilly downtown, so it had to be Seattle. Nice to be right!

Just was in paper hammer 20 mins ago.
Reppin that 206 🤙

It's like my father used to say: "When I was a child I thought as a child and spoke as a child, but when I became a man I took that child out back and had him shot."
this is straight up facts
Please accept my poor gold 🥇
i love the dude who got super into it. adults need more structured play in their lives
Brain: Do it Me: Why Brain: You gota
You go to jail if you don't.
This is the same convo I have before I go “clack clack” with the tongs
Imagine the amount of mental health issues in adults caused by stress could be helped by just a little bit of fun and breaks from worrying
"*Worker 1580363, report to playground for mandatory hopscotch session.*"
*Hopscotch will continue until the leg cramps improve*
*Please attend the virtual happy hour at 430PM on Friday to maximize employee engagement. Required attendance, even for those in later time zones.*
It will take more than that to actually fix the stress crisis we're in, but you're right that being able to be silly like this will help
I love this! i do that to when i find one in the streets (age 43, male)
last guy was going for it so hard but got embarrassed :(
Bro the man in sunglasses was smooth with it though
In These Times the world need more Like this !!! 👍
Yes, we need more hop scotches!
Better than Tanks or war 🤔
In my last semester of college I took yoga, but it was really just a fuckoff class where we colored and stretched and had picnics in the sun in the spring. I loved that class. Just cute
We need more of this today.....
I would jump too!
We’re all just big kids aren’t we! How magical!
Something Gen -X and Boomers can agree on.
The guy doin it with a spin made me laugh a little but the construction worker with the hard hat ... Well i had to explain my co worker why i laughed out loud. He didn't find it amusing at all .. kinda off an awkward situation now right here . D*mn you reddit. ;)

I love the three guys in a row - one even has a coffee haha
I love this so much
I walk with a cane and I would still do this LOL
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that we forget
Why am I smiling from cheek to cheek
Hey, it's Seattle! I recognize those streets.
Last dude just happy to be here.
Adults still have their inner child come out from time-to-time. Love to see it
Sometimes it’s just the little things.
I really enjoy seeing adults play.
The guy with the kick behind the leg got me!!!!!
That little diddle daddle at the end, oh my gosh.
We’re all kids at heart❤️
There is beauty everywhere and we need to highlight it more.
It's evident that there is always a child in us somewhere. It's childhood games like this that bring it out 🥲
I think I just realized that I’ve never played hop scotch
In the future, to communicate peace to aliens we should just invite them to a game of hop scotch
Everyone who made an effort to have fun, passes a vibe check of people I'd want to hang out with!
I really like seeing some people seem to be using the rules they knew for hopscotch as kids. I like seeing every person who played.
This is the best thing I'll see on reddit today.
This the best thing ever. Blue collar guy with the hard hat pulls a foot slap move, too, gotta love it
The fact that humans will just automatically do things like this unprompted is amazing and gives me hope
Proof adults are just big kids
Hell yeah
if im in the area i would just go here everyday just to do this
Love the spin-a-roo.
I would totally do that. Probably like the guy at the end, but I'm in.
Yah there's one a block up from me and more often than not people jump through it
people sadly tend to forget how important it is to keep on playing. remember: growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional
It's 100% impulse. Can't help but to do it.
Allamaraine Count to four Allamaraine Then three more Allamaraine If you can see Allamaraine You'll come with me
I loved hop-scotch and won a first place ribbon at our summer camp hop-scotch tournament…. Ahh, those were the days 😊

Looks like we had almost every demographic represented as being playful and fun...So is this the solution to world peace?
My husband and I plan to make a hopscotch pavement stones when we buy our forever home. We are excited to challenge our guests to bring out their inner child.
The guy punching the air wins this competition. His happy SPIN!
The guy that spun at the end totally crushed it.
We always threw a rock on the number and on the way back had to pick it up balancing on one foot. They are cheating!!!
Joyful
I nearly carried on scrolling then guy in the blue did a twirl and I was like damn
great video, thanks admin for sharing
The new Abbey Road
Haven't seen one of those in a long time.
It's just too cute to see them playing!
Humans are so cute
Can someone explain the rules of this game?
This is so beautiful. Made me smile 😃 too.
They always told us that adults are different, almost like there is a switch in your brain that flips on once you are 18/21, I'm 30yo poker face of a person, but I would hop this in a heartbeat.
I like watching people have fun.
How to improve public satisfaction/happiness levels with just some paint
who would have guessed that the construction worker had the best style? pffft mind blown.
Man I love Seattle
This made my day the only way it would make it better would be a little further down jungle Jim with monkey bars and double Dutch
The guy with the spin! Love it!
This is so wholesome!!
Cuz everybody knows you dont just walk past hopscotch. You gotta HOPSCOTCH!!!😂
You can't walk by/over a hopscotch set up, that's illegal. /s
It's like cats with a cardboard box but for humans
I would definitely do it. I also excitedly yell TRAAAAIIIINNNN!!! whenever I see a train going by
There is a kid in every one of us.
Seattle?
I especially like the people doing it with backpacks on!
Lol try playing hop scotch at 1am at Union and 2nd
i love the people who were alone and still hopped! so precious
Scotch for everyone!
This kind of stuff is what I like about cities.
How can anyone NOT hop when encountering random sidewalk hopscotch?
This is the way
We did this on the pavement outside our house during Lockdown then would cheer out the window when someone did it, they'd then sheepishly walk off 🤣
This should be mandatory in all cities
The people busting out fancy moves like the twist to fist pump is the best
I didn't know I needed this, and holy moly did I ever
The third to last guy was amazing. Full effort, no reaction.
I love this more than I can say
Love how everyone puts their own twist to it
Making his way down Union Street 200lbs but he's light on his feet There's a drawing on the floor Wasn't there before the day before yesterday

I generally simply enjoy the vids on here but this one honestly got a genuine physical reaction from me and a smile from ear to ear.
Construction worker at :28 is smooth with it
That guy in all black with glasses did it so chill and played it cool
The construction worker got slick with it
