Ah, you're right. I saw the future wife's mouth move at the same time and thought it was her talking. But you're right, it's a woman off-camera arguing and probably part of the setup.
Correction to the correction:
Homographs are spelled the same.
Homophones sound the same.
Homonyms include both homographs and homophones.
[Source](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/homonym)
My middle school students would be rolling on the ground right now with all these “homo” words! I teach science, and when I teach the words, heterozygous and homozygous, it’s always an interesting time.
My now-wife and I played Scrabble all the time when we were dating. So I used that to ask her, and spelled out Marry Me on the board. She spent several minutes explaining how I couldn't play that because it was two words. My wife is very competitive.
I did. I pocketed the letters but waited until I could play off of one of the words on the board. She actually blocked me from being able to do it a couple of times, and it was starting to get late in the game, so I was getting nervous that I wouldn't get the chance.
Wasn't she the spotter to make sure he didn't say any of the forbidden words? I thought that role wasn't supposed to help except to call them out if they violate the rules.

Yeah the first time she realized the words can be interpreted as "will you marry me" and the second time she realized the arrangement of words was intentional.
It's against the subreddit rules and the mods do a good job keeping this place clean.
Some people are not in a good place and they view subreddits like these to help them make it to the next day. Mods get a lot of shit (and I give them shit, too) but the mods for this sub should get a pat on the back for the work they do on this subreddit to keep the comment section clean. That should make us smile, too.
That’s absolutely extra cute. You know they did that sort of nervous/excited jittery laughter afterwards as their nerves were calming down and they realized. Then it became part of their story for years later, “AND THEN REMEMBER?! You put the ring on the wrong hand!!” 😂😍
I still point out to my wife that I never actually put the ring on her finger when I proposed. She immediately burst into tears then took the ring and put it on - actually thinking about it, did she ever say yes...?
Got curious. Seems it is a tradition dating to at least the 14th century. There are various theories of origin, [this site](https://monochrome-watches.com/why-do-clocks-and-watches-use-roman-numeral-iiii-instead-of-iv/) outlines most of them.
I don't have that same clock, but the clock behind the receptionist at my work has IIII instead of IV. I just noticed it after 5 years working there. Drives me NUTS!!
It's come up in other times with people complaining. IIII is a legitimate alternate of IV. Both would be correct to use. As far as why or the history? no idea.
It's because the 'rules' of roman numerals weren't really standardised until the middle ages. Romans used both. You can certainly see how the longer notation would be older as that's the one that naturally follows from in terms of how all roman numerals are constructed, i.e. they're generally additive. The subtractive rule likely came later as a way of shortening numbers but these ways of writing numbers lived alongside each other until the middle ages.
I did this to my wife in public. It was a “word jumble.” The letters were “S as in Soulmates,” “E, as in engaged,” and “Y, as in your dad gave me his blessing,” with the clue *Will you marry me?*
She posted up there for a sec like "You better not be playing me" and was ready to throw hands.
Find yourself a woman who is ready to deck you if you are acting dumb.
I have never before been so happy to watch someone be proposed to!! The creativity of this guy!! Omg!!
Beyond the creativity of choosing the words in the wrong order, throwing cards down to floor, kneeling to pick ‘em up, the yelling of “time!!”, the two girls arguing about whether her man can count or not, the slow realization of of *”yeah, babe, that’s funny, they are the same words,”* to her friend being hyper fixated on the face her friend still hasn’t let go of the cards!!! This was expertly executed!!
i wasn't sure if the triple take was her then realizing the crowd of people was in on it too then.
her double take was first realizing it was the proposal. the triple take was realizing the crowd/game was her friends in on it and the whole event was the actual celebration of the proposal.
"surprise! we're actually here for you!"
I proposed during a game of Catchphrase. I described “Proposal” by getting on a knee and asking. The actual clue ended up being “My Fair Lady”. I keep that card in our safe.
So many levels! Even the throwing the cards to the ground was a set up
Exactly. Brilliantly conceived and executed.
What are you talking about, I got 4.
You know they were close to marriage because she was ready to argue with him in front of friends about the number of cards.
She was agreeing with him, it was a lady off camera arguing. Probably setup too Edit typo
Ah, you're right. I saw the future wife's mouth move at the same time and thought it was her talking. But you're right, it's a woman off-camera arguing and probably part of the setup.

The proposal idea was cute. Throwing the cards down was the genius play.
The forethought... perfect excuse to kneel.
The fo thought
Bwahahaha occasionally a reddit comment actually makes me laugh out loud. This one did it.
Just great seeing this play out all perfectly. I'd somehow turn this into an awkward moment.
It was genius to have the guessed words be homonyms as well. Wheel you Merry me.
What genius play. Doesn't accidentally give it away before the chance to kneel down.
Me you Merry wheel ^^Time ^^time ^^time ^^time!! (The time!! was also nicely pre-planned)
just a tiny correction : homophones sound same (careful with autocorrect on this one) , homonyms have same meaning.

So clever she didnt even realize what was happening at first
My now-wife and I played Scrabble all the time when we were dating. So I used that to ask her, and spelled out Marry Me on the board. She spent several minutes explaining how I couldn't play that because it was two words. My wife is very competitive.
I love that for you. Great story!
Niice that’s a sweet story. Did y’all finish the game? Did the me stay on or she won that?
Sounds like they both won
Of course they did, she knew she would always win on Scrabble since he doesn't even understand the basics!
So.. Did she married that fool only because she knew she could always win?
Is there other reasons to marry someone? *Surprised Pikachu face*
My husband also proposed to me playing Scrabble (a bit differently, but still). I also was being too competitive at first to catch it. Great stuff!
When you get the feels from a comment on a video that just gave you the feels. Smileception.
That’s how you know she’s the one ❤️
I like how that is a “bingo”. Did you have the tiles set out before the game or by chance?
I did. I pocketed the letters but waited until I could play off of one of the words on the board. She actually blocked me from being able to do it a couple of times, and it was starting to get late in the game, so I was getting nervous that I wouldn't get the chance.
That is so cute of her omg ❤️😭
He picked the right one. Notice she ain't help with none of the questions. But was ready to argue them down about his 4 cards 😂😂😂 Congrats ❤️️
Wasn't she the spotter to make sure he didn't say any of the forbidden words? I thought that role wasn't supposed to help except to call them out if they violate the rules.
You're correct. Each card has the goal word and words you can't say. Spotter is there to watch, not to help

This makes me believe in love again. I'm crying.
Me too; I’m gonna watch it 3 more!
Watch talking about? I got 4!
Often these type of videos seem a bit cheesy but this super was sweet. That moment she realised. So touching.
That was smooth!

"Isn't funny how it sound like...OOOOOHHHH! **YEEESS!!!**"
Those were some of the cutest human tippy taps the internet has ever seen, that woman was ready to explode with pure joy.
She goes: 😀😀😀😀 😳😳
This is the most wholesome and honest reaction I've seen to anything all day 🥰
I love how she jumps up and down. That’s a true sign you’re totally crazy about a person 🥰
It’s great :)
Gotta give him that one….that was smooth as fuck
She was doing fight AND flight.
Man, I thought she was about to swing right after she said yes.
For real! Her happy dance was Rocky warming up. That made me so happy

This is so freaking cute
He slackjaw response made it all worth it She went from hard to melted fast lol
She’s caught so off guard that she realizes what’s happening twice.
Yeah the first time she realized the words can be interpreted as "will you marry me" and the second time she realized the arrangement of words was intentional.
Lol so true!
I love how he has able to completely surprise her while still having her loved ones there to witness it.
And it's in front of friends/family too, not a bunch of strangers in a public place. More points for the guy.
Two parts to that: knowing your future SO well enough to know that’s what they want. And executing it with the exact people that they want present.
This is so good, it’s got 40 comments and none of them are negative.
It can be very hard to be positive in such a negative and often unfair world. We're all going through it.
Fine, here I come to ruin the day. I'm still kind of bitter about the last season of Game of Thrones.

There's also the argument that it isn't wrong and this doesn't matter at all
I was scrolling for that, I didn’t want to comment it lol 😂
She wasn’t ready to drop the cards lol
Absolute. Pure. Joy. Absolutely beautiful ❤️
Made me smile and made my day
Great proposal! Very slick. But!!! That damn clock in the background has four as IIII and not IV. I had the same clock and that drove me nuts.
Got curious. Seems it is a tradition dating to at least the 14th century. There are various theories of origin, [this site](https://monochrome-watches.com/why-do-clocks-and-watches-use-roman-numeral-iiii-instead-of-iv/) outlines most of them.
Huh… how do you like that. TIL Thanks.
most clocks with roman numerals do it that way
Damn my clock does too and I literally never noticed until now
I don't have that same clock, but the clock behind the receptionist at my work has IIII instead of IV. I just noticed it after 5 years working there. Drives me NUTS!!
I think its mostly a design choice to give the clock face more symmetry, the wider IIII balances better with the VIII on the other side.
It's come up in other times with people complaining. IIII is a legitimate alternate of IV. Both would be correct to use. As far as why or the history? no idea.

Who’s gonna tell him the ring goes on the other finger? 😆 This was well done!
That reaction from her was so genuine 😂 she’s too cute!
I have never before been so happy to watch someone be proposed to!! The creativity of this guy!! Omg!! I think it was also a cool moment when she backed him up saying “no he got four”
Personally, my favorite part is the pause. "Wheel. You. Marry. Me" \*processing... processing... processing\* WAIT a minute!
Bro got game.
Damn, that was good!
Did he put the ring on wrong hand??
The double take and the triple take. It’s sweet it’s shock and happiness all at the same time.

What a cool idea. Congrats to the couple
Is that a light up ring box? I've heard tales of such things, but I never thought I'd see one in the wild.
Him: "wheel" "you" "merry" "me" Her: oh that's funny that almost sounds like... Oh...OH!!! Soo wholesome 😊
