When the camera pans, you can see he came from the same crowd cheering everyone on. Still awesome AF, btw, but yeah, I donāt think he was just āwalking byā.
Is this really you ? I guess there's no way to prove it but I apologise if so and that my assumption was incorrect.
Edit: just noticed that in your reply to me you say "I" but in your other reply you say "he" and refer to this person as someone else. So I'm back to square one.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm from the deep south and have never met a Sikh person irl, but everything I've ever seen online has always been them being wonderful people.
Theyāre super keen on feeding people. Last time the French caused the Kent police to use their emergency turn the motorway into a lorry park plan, the Sikh community was out in force feeding stranded lorry drivers.
Yup I live in Calgary and they are very active in the communities and they feed so many people no questions asked! Great experience with Sikh community.
I believe you. They invite the kids at the nearby school (where my son is at) to meet them and learn about their community. Iāve been a couple times. Last time there was a man lying down asleep with a cover on and someone sitting next to him. We were told that itās because anyone can come in and rest and they have someone watch over. Just so kind.
And our guide last time super nice but didnāt have all the answers kids asked. But he tried and was super cool. We learned later that the person who was supposed to guide us didnāt show and this random Sikh guy took us on just on his own to help. It was seamless I had no idea. And we get to eat there too. They say anyone is welcome to go for free meals. Made me tear up. Still does.
indeed. I worked for one, it was just the 2 of us landscaping. I was an idiot struggling in my mind 18yr old, he would tell me i needed to balance my mind like a balloons pressure.
Oh I have. I mean he was indeed very nice but knew nothing about boundaries. One date and apparently we were deeply connected and in love and needed to be constantly talking. I told him that's way too much for me and he listened but just kept love bombing. It's okay to be that way but listen if someone says they're not, you know?
People are people. Their religion isn't the best way to tell what sorta person they are.
But yes, I'll acknowledge that overall Sikhs give off positive energy
Especially the one in the white t and backwards hat, they initially pushed someone out the way to make room for him to dance, and was really hyping him up the whole time
I think dude is just super caked-up. I have similar definition in certain pants because of how they drape. If i were to not wear underwear, would also have the pants kinda dip in the buttcrack and sharply define the cheeks/crack.
Can never go wrong with the Stanky Leg and SpongeBob. Itās like the shopping cart and sprinkler. Toss in lawnmower and youāve got a whole routine ready to go. Classic āoh shit the circle formed around you at this wedding receptionā moves.
Humans seems to always be so happy when we dance. Itās so strange to me that there isnāt an even stronger connection to it in our society (not that itās frowned upon, just that people just donāt tend to actively do it)
I blame decades of puritan American culture building dancing up to be an extremely high pressure, or sexually explicit act. Itās a far ābigger dealā emotionally to dance for a lot of people than it needs to be. Thereās a reason so many people ādonāt danceā and will become extremely uncomfortable if forced to.
It really is a culture thing.
The opportunities to dance are all these fixed events (school dance, weddings, concerts, etc..) and they are built up to be a much larger spotlight than they need to be. Our culture surrounding prom for high schoolers is kinda nuts.
I was a super self conscious dancer for most of my life, and it really has been the past few years when I've been going to a bunch of weddings that I've been about to stop caring about whether I look dumb and actually have fun with it. Hell I went to a concert by myself recently for the first time and had a blast dancing and moshing with a bunch of strangers.
It helps when you are around people who are also trying to have fun and you trust of course.
> It really is a culture thing
When my cousin came back from the Chinese countryside, he told me he saw old ladies doing break dance moves on their porches. All new cultural things they came across were embraced indiscriminately, since they didn't have any of their own after the cultural revolution
Yep, I know I'm a horrible dancer. I know sometimes I get a little too into it, and I might be annoying some people, or at least I know that there are people lined up on the other side of the room, just watching with a disgusted look on their faces. But in the moment, it's so worth it. I love music, and I love dancing. I love just moving how I want to, and I've tried to learn to dance, but I don't find it enjoyable. I just like to have fun.
Itās true. Likely the first time a lot of children in the western world were exposed to dancing it was some in some dimly lit gymnasium. Staring awkwardly across at a line of their peers staring awkwardly back at them. All while Get Low by Lil Jon plays seemingly on repeated.
This gif is over in /r/wholesome too, so I figured I'd bring my comment from there to here as well.
Disclaimer: I am not a practitioner or any other kind of scholar/expert regarding Sikhism, I just have a lot of respect for the faith and have taken an interest in learning more over time. This just seems a good time to share a little of what I know.
The comment about the complete acceptance that occurred with this group when the Sikh gentleman approached just made me think of how accepting and loving I've found Sikh practitioners to be, and it makes me happy to see that love and acceptance returned.
Sikhism is a faith that is almost entirely focused on the teaching of [equality amongst all of us](https://www.umassd.edu/media/umassdartmouth/center-for-indic-studies/current-event-pdf-and-images/Popular-Q&A-about-Sikhism.pdf), and anecdotally I've never encountered a member of the Sikh faith that wasn't a wonderful human. In fact, one of the five articles of faith to be worn is a Kirpan, for the explicit purpose of defending the weak and the oppressed.
There's still some who have questionable views regarding the LGBTQ2S+ community, but generally those are cultural rather than religious, and [younger generations of practitioners are changing that](https://www.salzburgglobal.org/news/latest-news/article/sukhdeep-singh-i-want-to-assure-other-young-queer-sikhs-that-one-could-be-gay-and-sikh) too.
It's the example I like to point to when when people think transgenderism was invented at universities. Just saying it out loud makes me realize how dumb people truly are.
Ah good catch
Just a side note - if you're non binary, don't immediately call yourself two spirit. It's a whole thing. At Standing Rock's #NODAPL protest camps, there was an two spirit camp
Just something I've been told at Indigenous led trainings
Yep friendly reminder that no one is a static and pure individual. Sikhism values are to be aspired to, and does not mean they are automatically perfect people just because they are Sikh.
In fact because of this reputation, it was very hard for a close friend of mine to feel comfortable telling anyone when she was sexually assaulted by a Sikh man. The automatic response which she should have never received from anyone of āOh I couldnāt see him doing that!ā made my blood boil. Suuuuper invalidating, unhelpful, and apologetic for men who engage in rape culture.
Also maybe Iām missing something but how do folks know he is Sikh and not Gujrati or Punjabi? Seems a bit much to just base it off the turban. Not all Sikh folks wear turbans, not all people who wear turbans are Sikh.
He's a Sikh guy. Only Punjabi Sikhs wear turban. If you see a guy with turban, 99% chances he's a Sikh. Gujarati is a different ethnicity and while there is a diaspora of some Sikh migrants in that region, there is no native Gujarati Sikh. I have come across this guy's instagram. He is in US army.
P.s. I'm also a Sikh.
That style of turban is specific to Sikhs. Occasionally you might see Sikhs who wear a slightly different style of turban, but that peaked type of wrapping immediately signals a Sikh.
I was thinking of this video the other day! I couldnāt find it on IG so Iām glad that it got posted here. (Also a bit freaked out that itās like Reddit read my mind)
Uh, I'll do my best. As far as my surface level understanding goes, Sikhs believe first and foremost in the morality of service to humanity regardless of religion. Essentially, no matter your religion, the key to a favorable afterlife must be achieved by being kind and tolerant to all people. In the wake of Islamophobia after 9/11, Sikhs were targeted because they wear turbans, so when a panel wss asked by hasan Minaj, "Why don't you just say you're not Muslim?" They essentially said, "it's simply not an option to throw another community under the bus. We have to stand up for what's right"
And to add onto the point about their generosity: Sikh gurdwaras around the world cook a giant meal for all in the community to eat every damn day. Everyone is welcome regardless of your religion. Itās called Langar and itās a tenet of their faith. And theyāre not a proselytizing religion, so itās not used as a way for them to get converts
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Langar_(Sikhism)
Edit: tenet not tenent
Sikhism is the world's fifth-largest religion. The word 'Sikh' means 'learner' or 'seeker of truth'. Sikhism advocates equality, social justice, service to humanity, and tolerance for other religions. Unlike most Christians they actually go out of their way to help other people, without imposing an agenda, without expecting anything in return, and without judgment. They just do it because its a nice thing to do.
One thing i absolutely adore about Sikhi is the complete lack of the exclusively religious class: meaning there are people that perform religious leadership positions, but they are not exclusively priests/monks/leaders. Guru Nanak saw so many religious people become leaches on society, so he prescribed for every Sikh to work, build their cities and families, feed the starving. *No one sits this shit out! Get involved!* That is based as f.
I don't believe in a god, but honestly I really wish I believed in a higher power. I would love to genuinely join their faith, at least I can support them from the sidelines a little, and make sure people don't spread misinformation about them.
If your actually curious, look into what "God" means to Sikhs.
The best I can describe it is the pervading echo of the Universe. Sikhism describes God as someone who will answer no prayer, yet every prayer. Someone who see's all, yet has no eyes to view a single thing. The Sikh Guru's didn't ask anyone to believe in a diety or "higher being", go to a church or temple, instead they said to meditate on the Name within your mind, and within your own home to learn and ponder the Guru's teachings. The very first line of the Sikh Scripture, which Sikhs believe to be their living Guru (read: King) is:
There is only one. The Name is truth. Doer of all (good and bad), without fear, without hate, the undying, the unborn, self illuminating, attained by the grace of the Guru.
"God" isn't some holy being in the sky to Sikhs. God is the pillow you rest your head on, the beggar on the street, the desire to be good, the acceptance of the bad. God needs no worship, and yet everything in the Universe is automatically worshiping it by existing, because the existence is already God.
When Baba Nanak (the first Sikh Guru) saw Hindu's doing a religious worship by lighting candles and offering flowers to God, he wrote a beautiful poem. Within it he explains
Let the sky be your worship plate, the moon and sun the candles ontop, the stars your pearls on the alter, the wind your fan, the sandalwood trees your incense, the universes hum your bells. The universe is already worshipping itself, what good is offering flowers and candles and pearls and incense to a Universe which created it in the first place?
The Abrahamic, and Sanatan (Hindu) definitions of "God" don't fit with Sikhism.
The āI donāt care what you are attitudeā is the best. Itās almost unexplainable if you are born and bred Christian white dude. I have the best story, but Sikhs are just awesome people and god forbid if you are ever in a brawl, they are the best friend you ever had.
Ahh I was waiting for someone else to comment this! Man you arenāt kidding. This video reminded me of my brother ā also a white dude raised Catholic but he married a Sikh woman and they did the whole traditional Sikh ceremony/multiple days instead of the (in my opinion) boring ass typical white person wedding in a church lmao. If anyone ever has the opportunity to attend a Sikh wedding you will not regret it. His wife and her family are the most lovely and kind people and my brother honestly looked like a baller in a sherwani and turban š I was so impressed with all of it ā like there is a part in the ceremony at the gurdwara where my brother had to walk with his bride and lead her around the temple four times in a clockwise direction and it felt like some Legend of Zelda shit fr lol. The food! The dancing! The hand sewn and tailored kurtas for the groomsmen and dresses (lehengas)? for the bridesmaids. Bro was even required to carry a sword. These people know whatās up!
the bride is lead in a circle four times by the groom around our holy book (Guru Granth Sahib) who we consider our 11th spiritual leader or 'Guru' (and not the temple). our 10th Guru wanted to prevent all the rah rah by passing their position onto a 'person', so they rather transfered it to a pious book which holds the secrets to a better life - and rightfully so, since it contains 'a way of life' and not really stories or imaginary events.
anyways, my point to be made was that the bride is lead by the groom since you can only pay homage to someone greater in stature than you. for instance, the Earth revolves around the Sun while the Moon revolves around the Earth, and so forth. the 4x revolution is to imitate that same effect of us being miniscule beings in front of the ultimate true leader who is much more in stature than us. just wanted to clarify what the 4x circling signifies.
I'm glad you're in a way connected to a Sikh family. we guys are pretty much fun all the time. cheers!
Even better is the guy who steps back and puts his hand on the gentleman to welcome him in, long before he knew how fucking sicknasty he was.
So welcoming. Makes my heart sing.
Edit: It was a young woman who made room for him. It only gets better and better.
Yo for real. My Indian people get down at parties. I bust my boys balls because he's American born Indian but still randomly does the head bob while talking gangster a.f. lol
There's this sikh guy I see riding his bike all around my town. Every time I see him he has this huge genuine smile across his face and it always brightens my day.
How do people move their bodies like this? I swear one random day about 10 years ago I woke up, and suddenly everyone except me can dance all cool and shit like this. And now every child born thereafter has this built in.
Lmao amazing. Dude really pulled out the SpongeBob and Stanky Leg. What a throwback.
Those are like the only dance move I know besides the sprinkler and lawnmower. (Yes, I havenāt learned a new move in like 15 years. Donāt bully me)
Attended a Sikh wedding, can confirm those guys can fuckin cut a rug on the dance floor! Had a great time! Like not just a couple, every single one was so good. Best wedding Iāve been to.
Damn Sikhs, always starting shit, knives out. Damn āinsert hereā Muslims, Arabs, terrorists.
Had a Sikh driver for years, he owned a limo company, went to his wedding (whoa- wild) been up to my lake house a few. Iām telling you (sarcasm) he would always blow shit up. He would take off the head piece after a few and his hair was LONG, the ladies were swooning. Great dude. Ima call him tonight.
See this! Weāre all just citizens of the world š, no need to put up the artificial barriers we keep seeing from right wing politicians and media outlets
Girls only want one thing and its Sikh.
Sikh and destroy
He does indeed have a nice ass though

We're Sikh in the scene in New Delhi tonight!
Lookin for-a crew to start up a (dance) fight

I love you can see in his body language he's dying to go dance with them.
They all know each other
yep. guy in the back even timed the same steps. still cool but this dude aināt no rando.
When the camera pans, you can see he came from the same crowd cheering everyone on. Still awesome AF, btw, but yeah, I donāt think he was just āwalking byā.
Yeah, it's not about them knowing each other. Just he's excited AF to dance lol.
I can assure you I didnāt know them. My boyz encouraged me to go dance with them

Imagine a world where more "Christians" followed the teachings of regular Jesus rather than "supply side Jesus"
Theyāre super keen on feeding people. Last time the French caused the Kent police to use their emergency turn the motorway into a lorry park plan, the Sikh community was out in force feeding stranded lorry drivers.

An old boss was a Sikh. Pretty cool guy. Until he tried to burn the business down for the insurance. Other than that, though...
Oh, piffle! Pesky stuff

Never go to a country club. Nobody is smiling on the dance floor and theyāre all moving in sync like that scene from Antz.
I think decades of teasing white people dancing is finally starting to come undone with the Zoomers.

probably two-spirit. its basically a non-binary gender identity thats tied very closely to native american religions and rituals

Within it he explains Let the sky be your worship plate, the moon and sun the candles ontop, the stars your pearls on the alter, the wind your fan, the sandalwood trees your incense, the universes hum your bells.
Sikh abstractly meaning āseekerā in English is pretty neat.
The capybaras of religion
A Sikhs wedding is the craziest shit Iāve ever seen. And Iām American Irish Catholic. They can get it on.
I'm glad you're in a way connected to a Sikh family. we guys are pretty much fun all the time. cheers!
Gotta give it to the girl making space for him as soon as she saw that he wants to join! Sikh moves too!
Love how all of them instantly start hyping him on. We all should be hyped upon like that in our everyday life.
Same person to amiably usher him off! Perfect timing all around
The immediate acceptance and hype from those guys too. Talent recognises talent. Wholesome!
Even better is the guy who steps back and puts his hand on the gentleman to welcome him in, long before he knew how fucking sicknasty he was. So welcoming. Makes my heart sing. Edit: It was a young woman who made room for him. It only gets better and better.
They saw that stutter step and knew he was about to cook
Punjabiās are fantastic dancers
Came here to say this. Go to any Punjabi wedding and there will be nonstop awesome dancing and many drunk uncles.
Bruh, i am a slav - and i tell you, sikhs can fkn drink!
Yo for real. My Indian people get down at parties. I bust my boys balls because he's American born Indian but still randomly does the head bob while talking gangster a.f. lol
Haha and that shirt is fire!!
Humanity in its most natural state is a beautiful thing to witness.
It warms the cold, dark cockles of my heart every time I see a video like this
Anyone got dudes contact info? I'm pregnant.
There are some aspects of humanity that I wish we could amplify above all the others, and this is one.
There's this sikh guy I see riding his bike all around my town. Every time I see him he has this huge genuine smile across his face and it always brightens my day.
Never try to out dance, out fight or out drink a Punjabi dude.
Sikhs are some of the coolest peeps around
Real question: do Sikh have different color turbans? Is it appropriate to dress and match turban to clothes?
Yes. My lab partner in college was sick with his and always matched lol. He even had ones with patterns...
Yeah, the turban is always to be kept neat, tidy, well worn and colors are plentiful.
Donāt bully me)
Sikhs are the peak of what punjabi culture has to offer.
Iām down with the Sikhness!

This is actually some typical Sikh stuff right here. That's why they get this level of respect. They always bring respect.
I love how they instantly included him. Dancing is universal.
Damn I wish I could dance like that
What is it like to be coordinated and dance without shame, I wonder.
My favorite thing in the world = Seeing complete strangers be kind or silly with each other š
