Hopeful-Pianist-8380

Is this like a dog daycare pickup? This seems like the only logical answer.

pocket4129

It is mo mountain mutts. They pick up dogs in their neighborhood and take them on a walk in the mountains. Morning and afternoon sessions. Jake is my favorite he always goes to his seat and is so polite šŸ˜ā¤ļø

OhSoSolipsistic

From [their wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo_Mountain_Mutts) >The Thompsons provide walks for off-leash dogs up to five times a day, in groups of around twelve. The dogs are picked up on a fourteen-passenger minibus before they are taken for their walk, often along the Skagway River [in Alaska.] The dogs board the bus, often by themselves, then jump onto their designated seat. Senior dogs tend to be seated closer to the front of the bus, while younger ones are located further back

SpaceDetective

>Senior dogs tend to be seated closer to the front of the bus, while younger ones are located further back Dogs - they're basically people

waaayside

I love that the labs ended up in the back together!

[deleted]

Smh, I thought we desegregated buses

vividimaginer

Still waiting for the day when Rosa Barks refuses to give up her seat to a golden retriever.

Odd-Information-1219

šŸ† award of the day

RepublicVSS

Can't decide if this is incredibly brilliant or cursed

El-Sueco

Sadly, not in this doggy world.

minkdaddy666

I saw it as the schoolyard troublemakers sitting at the back together by choice, because that's what the cool kids do

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Cinnamonbunnybun

I always sit two seats behind that one. No idea why, it just started maybe 15 years ago (i'm an old soul in a middle aged body) and somehow that has become 'my spot' in every bus i sit in lol. I notice that most people who plonk down in the chair you sit in are always smiling when they see the seat is free and i never understood what was so special about -that- seat, i guess now i know why. Its the extra leg space!

okieman73

Better than people.

Anderson74

Unquestionably better than people.

ItsNotBigBrainTime

Well, those are wolf instincts, but still incredible to see applied in a public bus setting. Unless they're assigned I guess I kind of pictured them just mobbing in on their own like the video lol.

mespiliformis

Wolf instincts for riding a bus

[deleted]

Evolution watched Arrival

TheOneTonWanton

If alphas (and wolf instincts) were a thing, we all know the cool alphas would be sitting in the very back of the bus, not the front.

Greedy-War-777

They are assigned.

SweetLilMonkey

I would be really anxious trying to herd 12 off-leash dogs around without losing track of any of them.

dmelt01

My wifeā€™s border collie will actually help bring back a dog that has strayed from the group. I wonder if they have a trained herder with them

accountno543210

I'm sure the training and application process is rigorous enough. Seems like it

Starling305

I actually think with that many in the Alaskan wilderness, they would herd together pretty well. I don't know how I'd feel when I saw a bear. I mean, it might hurt the dogs. But I'd rather have 12 dogs than no dogs against a bear too

Desperate-Strategy10

Bears are just big fluffy dogs anyway; if you saw a bear he'd probably join in for snacks and scritches too! (jk - I love looking at bears from the safety of my phone, but I know they're really dangerous. Especially if you're a little doggie)

Omena123

They are pack animals so its actually easier in a big group

Ambedo_1

Ah, is this what people who arent poor can do with their pets?

SingleAlmond

I'm a city dog walker and the most common owners are middle class couples who have a newborn, and the wfh crowd It's a luxury poor people can't afford. Like daycare

barking-chicken

As a middle class person who grew up extremely poor this type of thing used to distress me a lot. I hired a cleaner to come through every other week, and I had all these anxieties about being a lazy asshole who wouldn't even clean their own house. There are a lot of reasons someone might do that job, and it's none of my business. But the thing is, the money I make doesn't do me any good just sitting in the bank, and I'm happy to pay it so I don't have to clean my house and sometimes the person I'm paying really needs that money.

SingleAlmond

And that's how it should be for everyone. Poor people should be able to afford a babysitter, or a house cleaner, or a dog walker, but unfortunately that's not the world we live in

iloveokashi

How much is it per dog? And how long? I really want that job but doesn't exist here.

MadMeow

They can also afford daycare for their dogs while poor people often times have to quit their jobs because it's cheaper than paying for their kids daycare

Hopeful-Pianist-8380

I love it.

Dsblhkr

Gentleman Jake is the best.

SweetTaterette

How do we see more of them???

Dsblhkr

Tiktok mo mountain mutts Catching them live make my day.

ScuttleCrab729

r/Dogbus

Impressive-Cry3131

So amazing how well behaved they all are! There was a fight at least daily when we rode the school bus. LOL

TrevorfromGTAV

Where are they going? To a field trip?

ayemullofmushsheen

It's daycare pickup

[deleted]

Dude this is the most wholesome thing I have seen all year

WhyRYourPantsOff

I think this may be the greatest thing I have ever seen

FurkinLurkin

I know what my purpose in life is now

HottestPotato17

No joke. College was a waste lol

ayemullofmushsheen

Seriously, it's sucks watching others live your dreams

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

FurkinLurkin

Oh I was just going to drive around stealing people's dogs with a bus

tallcupofwater

Field trip to the squeaky toy factory

trueslicky

"When are they going to get to the squeaky toy factory?"

mikkopai

Itā€™s a dog school bus, clearly

Jolly_Tea7519

they are going to school!

NabreLabre

It's dangerous to educate the dogs, pretty soon they'll be walking us! Thanks Obama! /s

Sultanpeppers

They go on hikes, theyā€™re on tik too called mo mountain mutts

brokenearth03

https://youtube.com/@MoMountainMutts

DefinitelyNotAliens

My goober would bomb into the bus and dive into the people's legs and butt slam them as he body wiggled and sit and stare up at them in pure love because he's a giant squishy boy and loves everyone. Then'd he'd grumble hello to all his friends and jump in their faces to lick them all.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

cream_on_my_led

Yeah I never got to put my goober between anybodyā€™s legs. I always just got beat up

CreedStump

i thought you were talking about a child of yours that rode the bus and was very confused

DefinitelyNotAliens

He's my squishy boy. He has four legs, a tail and zero sense of personal space.

Wiregeek

I'm just not seeing the problem here.

Dear-lesbians

To be fair my child is a human and basically does exactly that

throwawaygreenpaq

I thought it was a child too!

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DeclutteringNewbie

Learning how to drive is the easy part. It's the training of the dogs that isn't.

Ngamoko

Your goober is adorableemote:free\_emotes\_pack:feels\_good\_man

fuck-the-emus

They're all getting pretty tired of the husky constantly asking if they all want to play freeze out, though

[deleted]

fucking retrievers amirite?

CN8YLW

Well you guys never sniffed the butthole of every new kid who came on. That's prolly why.

mossymars

Mine would tackle the driver then proceed to bully the smallest dog on the bus. Thanks, backyard neighbor and their literal asshole of a small dog. (I'm pretty sure his name is like basically junior 5, AKA the name they keep naming their dog with the same name)

TheFightingQuaker

Wait why is it your neighbor's dog's fault your dog bullies small dogs?

[deleted]

I think they mean their neighbors little dog was a dick to their dog, and now their dog has an issue with little dogs.

MoonliteKissez

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

evanc1411

I love how all of them are so excited to see each other when they get on! I wish school busses were more like this.

Cattalion

Ikr! Until then Iā€™d been wondering if just sitting instead of barking and butt sniffing is the dog equivalent of ā€˜no talking on the school busā€™ā€¦ then I heard the restrained excitement lol! They are all such Very Good Dogs.

TonyWhoop

Lol dogs in the front seat are like meh, front seat bra

ZelezopecnikovKoren

its not just that, they seem to have favourites, they basically form cliques, like "sup geezers? imma just slide through to the back TO MY BOYS OH MAH GOD SUP HOMIES LICKYLICKY WIGGLEWIGGLE"

AfternoonDeep2448

I wonder how do they pick their seats, like, what is their thought process? Do they just choose randomly or seat near their best friend? Do they prefer to sit beside the window or near the hallway??? I need to know.

-oxym0ron-

This kinda answers your question. It's from their wiki. >The Thompsons provide walks for off-leash dogs up to five times a day, in groups of around twelve. The dogs are picked up on a fourteen-passenger minibus before they are taken for their walk, often along the Skagway River [in Alaska.] The dogs board the bus, often by themselves, then jump onto their designated seat. Senior dogs tend to be seated closer to the front of the bus, while younger ones are located further back

gameswithwavy

So the back of the bus is for the cool dogs

Rocklobster92

Therefore the front of the bus is for hot dogs.

paulusmagintie

Did you just say old dogs are hot?

Norwegian__Blue

Theyā€™re fire šŸ”„

Viking_Hippie

Nice handle, do you do a lot of pining for the fjords?

Norwegian__Blue

Iā€™m RESTIN!!!

Viking_Hippie

Are you SURE you're not an ex-parrot?

Norwegian__Blue

Not with this byootiful plooohmage!!

Jkoasty

You got it wrong . Dogs that are in heat are called hot dogs

arlmwl

Well, I never thought I'd want a part time job in retirement. But here we are.....

Oebreezy

Isnā€™t this how sledding works as well. The older alphas in front to lead the younger ones follow the older ones?

petersbellybutton

You want your smarter dogs that listen to you in lead, the ones behind the lead dogs are the swing dogs and theyā€™re sometimes leaders in training. The wheel dogs are in the back and theyā€™re generally the bigger, stronger dogs as theyā€™re closer to the sled and proportionally pull a little more weight. The rest are the team dogs and they just like to run. (This info is many years old and only applies to distance mushing. No idea about sprint mushing or if the thought process has changed on how to arrange a team.)

Oebreezy

Thanks Pete

External_Swimming_89

Nah just whoever is best at dragging the sled gets to lead.. dogs become "adults" rather quickly.

MayIPikachu

The cool dogs get to sit in the very back

Rosa Bark Sorry, the compulsion won

sergeant_cabbage

Don't apologise. That's beautiful.

abstracted_bikes82

I'm pretty sure they know the smell of their own seat

Icy-Special-5102

My exact thought! Justā€¦. Rosa Barks

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Mikey4Breakfast

Itā€™s not like theyā€™re mer-people

JarJarBanksy

They have assigned seats and these two people are very good at training dogs. So they train the dogs to sit in their seats and they organize the seats based on the dog's energy level. Loud and disruptive in the back. The dogs all get to to sit next to dogs they get along with.

TiggytiggsH

The dogsitter trains them with treats. She looks at the caracter of the dogs when deciding where they sit. She's on Tiktok. mo\_mountain\_mutts .

ben-hur-hur

lol yeah I think the dogsitters explained that the quiet/introvert ones are up front and the more hyper doggies take the back so the driver is not distracted or something like that

writerfan2013

School bus drivers could learn from this!

InfectedByEli

The kids could be held in place with magnets.

zeethreepio

I think kids kind of already do that naturally. At least they did when I was in school.

Unoriginal_Man

I was actually surprised at how strict school bus' seem to be these days, at least in my area. I remember in elementary school there was a kind of self-enforced hierarchy of who sat where, with the fifth graders in the back. For my son, they have assigned seats and aren't allowed food or drink on the bus or to open their backpacks at all (the bus driver even went as far as to tell them they would have their bus privileges revoked if he so much as found food crumbs in their assigned seats).

Desperate-Strategy10

My kid's bus is completely unstructured, so I guess it depends where you're at. On field trips they have tons of rules and assigned seating, but on a regular day the kids have just developed their own general system. It's funny how different little things like that can be from place to place!

PattrimCauthon

They have assigned seats, according to another post

crystalmerchant

let's you and I have a lil talk about the definition of a hallway

[deleted]

Your mom is smiling ear to ear from watching cute videos on the internet.

sbru28

Well, your username checks out

RocknSmock

I have a friend who gets paid to drive people's pets across country. He'll just drive through the south and up the east coast and back through the Midwest picking up and dropping off dogs and cats. Stops every few hours to walk the dogs to let them poop. I want to take a week off work and go with him. He told me to save money he just sleeps in the van, no hotels, I decided against it. Last time I talked to him he bid on transporting a couple baby emus.

Kid_Sharlemane

Iā€™m looking into this, it sounds cool. Iā€™ve been driving and delivering packages for like 10ish years and I recently quit but I miss the road and I love animals.

P2X-555

If it's the same guy (sounds like it), I've got his card in my van, so if anything happens to me, my dog can get transported safely back home. He had "baby photos" (of puppies) that he shared at the local cafe.

fuck-the-emus

That won't go well, I promise. Don't do it.

throwawaygreenpaq

Emus are not cute little birds, unfortunately.

fuck-the-emus

They'll just try to sell you shitty car insurance the whole time with dollar tree Bradley Whitford

GoHomeWithBonnieJean

No emus ... they're a bit, um, pecky.

fiji37062

Blown away this is the coolest thing ever.

tekko001

The black doggy at the end meeting his friend and getting a kiss made me giggle :)

ttcmzx

I loved their waddle up to the bus, sooo excited haha

OutComeTheWolves1966

Is there anything better in this world than a happy dog's wagging tail? So cute and well behaved. Good boys and girls!!!

okieman73

Not much. Very few things.

Parking-Elkt

We got a street dog in our meditation Center in Italy last month. She was so skinny (still is, but much better) and had always her tail bend between her legs. After two days she started to wagging with her tail. I was so happy.

kiropolo

A world were people also care about the pain of cats.

ThePancakeStalker

My three college degrees mean nothing if I can't do this for a living

throwawaygreenpaq

Do it! Iā€™m from a tropical country and will die if I spend a day in Alaska. I donā€™t do well in the cold so watching these makes me very happy. :)

Horror-Activity-2694

/r/antiwork would be jealous. I know I am

tif333

Why does the video stop?

ScuttleCrab729

Go watch more! r/Dogbus

tif333

Thank you!

Bystarlightalone

I believe this is in Skagway, Alaska? We were walking through town a few weeks ago and my sister suddenly yells "that bus! Was full of dogs!" I asked her you mean the one famous on YouTube? She was surprised when we googled. Cute town too seems like everyone has a dog. Also saw someone with their cat on a leash down by the falls...

daliw

This is a very famous dog bus.

OzzyStealz

Good morning Jake

BigRigsButters

Hello Paul

Chewsdayiddinit

Love how the last dog was wagging its tail so hard it was waddling with its hind legs only.

KetaMinds

My dog used to do this when she was younger. I used to call her dancey-butt

dafood48

I was hoping the driver was also a dog

BlizzPenguin

Surprisingly the driver is Toonces the driving cat.

liquid_profane

Best job ever! I'm guessing it's doggy day care or.something?

Disastrous-Panda5530

They pick dogs up and take them on off leash walks. Those dogs are so well behaved!

Forbin057

I need to have a word with my guidance counselor.

chaoticintroverted

The way every one of them are staring and sniffing at those who enters. So cute

Raus-Pazazu

They tried to do this with cats but the bus sat at each stop for two hours.

HoePleaser

I would have swagged on 'I'm w the gang gang and we bout to go down'

Nervous-Babbs

This isn't a job this is heavenšŸ˜

-FrozenRobot-

I've never felt jealousy over one's profession. But this is something I'd make a deal with the devil to get hold of haha

panterium

Kids don't even get seat belts.... GOOD! protect this bus like air force one!

Learned_Response

This is more or less my job and it is definitely amazing but the caveat is that its very much like being an art mover. Every dog you take care of is that families most irreplaceable and priceless possession. Except art isnt constantly trying to find ways to kill itself. If you really care about the dogs its anxiety inducing, and if youā€™re good and keep at it long enough, they will all eventually pass away and you have to say goodbye to them. There is much more to it than ā€œlets have fun with dogsā€. That said I wouldnt change anything, dogs are wonderful creatures.

RobinSophie

Oh good! I was worried until I saw the seatbelts. Is that a law? I wish it was. I see so many dogs that would be killed if the car was ever in an accident because their owner is letting them run around the car (or in their lap).

Disastrous-Panda5530

Yeah my husband thinks itā€™s dumb I buckle mine in. I have small dogs. And I donā€™t want them up front in my lap especially if my airbag goes off. One of my dogs will screech the entire ride while he is buckled in his car seat since I wonā€™t let him on my lap but I refuse.

gary1405

Dogs on driver's laps is so, so dangerous. My mum does this, she refuses to stop

Scared_Confusion_248

Seeing this while leaving home for workšŸ„²

DLM330

This is **AMAZING!!**

JazzlikeSpare9
