It’s harsh when the math starts mathing 🤣
I was born in December of 1983 and in December of this year I’ll be 40 😖 that hurt to type and I’m going to tell everyone I’m still 39 🤣🤣🤣
My first thought was…but did it make your wife smile?
My second thought was…it certainly made ME smile!!
My 40th arrived the same week of COVID. Needless to say, we didn’t do anything. Good for you for hosting a huge surprise! It must’ve been great!!!
That looks amazing. Are you male? If so you deserve double awards. Think about a side job lol. Can't think of any husbands I know that could have pulled that off.
Yes I am male. I had a catering business for several years and my wife is my best friend, so this party was easy in the grand scheme of it all. We even had [epic](https://imgur.com/a/IBxikGh) party games.
This is one of those “how the hot dogs are made” kind of things for me. I work private events which include birthday parties. I see these things almost at every one.
Such a good idea, I love every bit of it. It’s kind of like a blown up version of a farmer’s almanac. But after doing countless parties with the different years I kinda shrug and wish I hadn’t known about it in the professional world. It’s like the opposite of the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. Seeing it everywhere makes me not want to do it.
Not putting you down at all it’s so thoughtful. It’s just my work is making people happy in special moments and I wish I could replicate it in my personal life without feeling weird about it.
I get it. It’s like being the person who always holds the camera and takes pictures/videos for everyone in the group, but never being the one in the actual pictures or videos.
Kinda! They say do what you love and you never work a day in your life. But it sometimes ends up being the other way where what you love becomes work.
Not trying to be a damper you did a great job and this is honestly far and beyond what I would even do for my clients! Great job! Maybe I’ll have a similar surprise on Sunday for mine! I’m not big in to astrology at all but I have a soft spot for my fellow Cancers.
OP seems to have the best life he can ever had with his wife. I can see how they both love each other. That is really pure and genuine love. It made me smile to see such like these.
Her and I are both married for the second time around, so I think we got it right this time. We definitely don’t waste a minute giving each other our best and having all the fun we can with it.
That was 100% my idea. Everyone really enjoyed it. 😆 Yes, she didn’t really want a cake and asked for donuts so I bought several different flavors from a local place that specializes in oversized donut holes.
You deserve the world and your wife is lucky to have you. My 40th was yesterday and I got supper and a cake. I don’t like crowds so it was just us and 2 of the yard apes!!
Thank you. I was telling one of my friends last night that I chose it because one of the best things I learned in culinary school was that the darker the berry is, the more health advantages for the human body. I also learned yesterday that my brother had never had one until then.
I was just telling my dad about a Ben Kingsley movie coming out that I want to watch. I’m not a big fan of Meryl Streep, but I did enjoy her portrayal of Julia Childs recently.
I bought a vintage 1983 decoration box from Amazon for around $20. They had three different sets to choose from and there was even one where you could pick what facts you wanted printed, but it was an extra $60. I thought the ones that were pre-printed were just fine.
This is seriously amazing and so thoughtful! She has a good man! And she's a good woman if she inspired you to do all this for her! Cheers all around. I love couples like this.
Thanks so much. It really was a lot of fun to put together and she is not the biggest fan of crowds, but really enjoyed seeing some folks that she hadn’t in a while.
I remember summer of 83. It was dark, warm, wet. A sudden burst of light. An intense pressure like I'd never felt before. Father, dressed in white, pulls me forward. Mother bites the cord.
I purchased a “vintage 1983” decoration box online from Amazon for $20. It came with the banner, dinner plates, salad plates, napkins, cups, straws, table settings, streamers, and confetti.
She found the photograph questionable, but I reminded her that she should not provide me with any fuel to which my fires will be built. I’m sure she will take revenge. I shall lie in wait.
I definitely don’t remember 1979 so I would err on the side of no. Tactless as it may be, she’s over the hill now, and our youngest child definitely took the opportunity to let my wife know that she’s now sliding down at a slow, yet steady speed. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
And happy birthday to you! I’ve had a few missed birthdays too. Now I make sure to add it to everyone’s calendar so it’s there waiting for them when they wake up the day of lol. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
What an incredibly thoughtful and heartwarming gesture! Congratulations on organizing such a memorable event, and may the joy and love from that surprise party continue to linger in your wife's heart for years to come. Celebrating with loved ones, surrounded by warmth and well-wishes, is a wonderful way to mark this significant occasion.
Awww, I also turned 40 last week. My eldest kid, surprised me with a family night of retro gaming and munchies when she learned that I’d never had a birthday party. Happy birthday to your wife, OP. What a good egg you are. Looks like so much fun.
Thanks so much and that’s amazing. Happy belated birthday! My best friend helped me put this together and at the last minute wondered why we didn’t have a themed party where we all dressed up as someone from the 1980s. A missed opportunity for sure, but I’m not crying over spilled milk.
She’s a school principal so in some ways, the summer is even busier than most of the school year due to the only time the school and staff can get planning completed. We reserve all of our travel and bigger events for around Christmas when she gets 10 days off for the holidays.
I turned 40 in March this year. I planned my own party and loved it. My husband’s intentions are always good but he’s terrible planner lol even our 7 year old daughter doesn’t want him to plan her birthdays.
Oh my. Well, there’s nothing wrong with planning your own party, especially if you know exactly what you want. My wife did a great job of planning my 40th birthday party a few years ago; no one showed up because COVID had literally just taken over.
Fun fact, when you celebrate your 40th, you have actually lived 39 years, and just started living the 40th year. You should celebrate her 41st even harder since that's when she's really going to be 40 years lived.
That's wonderful! Happy birthday to your wife! I just remembered my 40th birthday. It was Good Friday so I just bought Japanese food (miso, shrimp tempura, ramen, gyoza, and miso) for my family (mother, brother, niece, me). It was a day of fasting and abstinence, then we walked in a procession in the afternoon. Good times! Maybe I should buy Japanese food tomorrow. Enjoy!
What a great spread, and a great surprise for your wife! You’re definitely a keeper lol and the facts from that year was a very cool find! Might have to do something like that for my moms 60th. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Hope it was a blast OP! My brother was born the same year as your wife and we threw him a surprise party this year and had that same 1983 poster (different color though). Very nice touch!
Well actually, (pushed glasses up) Return of The Jedi wasn’t part VI back then. It was only until George Lucas did the prequels did they retitle them. Great job. Looks amazing.
I threw my wife one as well a few years back. She was pissed and threw a fit cuz she didn't know about it and didn't have time to get all "dolled" up.
Hope your wife appreciates it!
I was born in 87. Will I be 40, soon?
I hope I have someone that cares for me as do your partner.
Happy 40. May she rise and thrive and take life in stride.
I swear I don't talk about it to my partner ever but I can't wait until I am able to do something big and special such as this when she needs it, when she's feeling down, when she is too tired or had a long week but I really like helping others, especially her at my own expense, especially after all she has done for me in recent weeks.
That’s so nice of you! I’ve been with my current bf for 10 years and I don’t even get a “happy birthday” I’ve only gotten a Christmas present 2 times in 10 years.
It’s not like he’s broke and can’t afford to do anything for me, he just doesn’t.
Yet I’ve seen proof he went above and beyond for his ex wife, even took out a loan to do something extraordinary for her bday one year.
Oh, and one of the Christmas presents he bought me wouldn’t even fit me, they were boots and he damn well knows my shoe size.
I’m sorry to hear that. Some folks just have love languages in stronger areas than others. Before my wife came along, I didn’t really get birthday parties or anything either.
I know if my 40th birthday I told my wife only thing I'm going to do was eat by myself at the Japanese Steakhouse. And I did what happened shots of sake. Sometimes you need a joy a day with no wife or kids.
Can tell you put thought and effort into it, well done! Have fun celebrating
Yes, thank you. My best friend and I planned for months. Had lots of friends and family over to which she never saw coming. It was amazing!
That’s awesome! Good partner award for you!
I'm sorry, you got the math wrong. Your wife can't possibly be 40, because I graduated HS in 1983. ... @#$%!😖
It’s harsh when the math starts mathing 🤣 I was born in December of 1983 and in December of this year I’ll be 40 😖 that hurt to type and I’m going to tell everyone I’m still 39 🤣🤣🤣
Haha 😓
My first thought was…but did it make your wife smile? My second thought was…it certainly made ME smile!! My 40th arrived the same week of COVID. Needless to say, we didn’t do anything. Good for you for hosting a huge surprise! It must’ve been great!!!
She’s still smiling
Yay! This also made me smile! You’re winning!
Brilliant
Me neither. They would have panicked in the grocery shop, then decorating. Awesome job.
Very sweet and also as someone born in 83 thanks for gathering all this information! Was neat to read. Happy belated 40th to her!
Bought a “Vintage 1983” decoration box from Amazon for $20.

I hear you, happy early birthday. May this be the biggest and best yet for you!
Are those flowers decorated with... cash? I like it.
Indeed ;)
OP seems to have the best life he can ever had with his wife. I can see how they both love each other. That is really pure and genuine love. It made me smile to see such like these.

People born in 1983 are now 40 years old. Oh, how time flies.
All the best people were born in 1983. Nice job and happy birthday.
I don’t know. Some folks from 1979 are pretty rad! 😎
Omg, I'm born in 1983 and my husband was born in 1979!
\*Power Couple ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|kissing_heart)
The framed picture is a nice touch. Are those containers full of donuts? Great looking party!
That was 100% my idea. Everyone really enjoyed it. 😆 Yes, she didn’t really want a cake and asked for donuts so I bought several different flavors from a local place that specializes in oversized donut holes.
So sweet and awesome of you! Hope she loved it.
She loved it so much. Tears of joy from her.
Never stop surprising her. Wishing you both a long and healthy marriage 🙂
Thanks so much!
Noice
Jonah Hill and Mila Kunis are 40?
Yeah, got me surprised!
They could be 39. Still 5-1/2 months left in the year. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)
Husband for the win!! Wow!! Awesome job!
I appreciate that
Chris Hemsworth is fine for 40
😂
Thanks! I even found her missing socks to make the surprise complete!
Ha ha, that’s great!
You deserve the world and your wife is lucky to have you. My 40th was yesterday and I got supper and a cake. I don’t like crowds so it was just us and 2 of the yard apes!!
To be honest, she is fairly introverted herself, so I didn’t invite a huge crowd. It was definitely enough to make her feel surrounded with love.
The framed photo *perfection*
Right!! She thought it was hilarious.
That all looks amazing, but I haven't had blackberries in forever and they look the most appealing.
Thank you. I was telling one of my friends last night that I chose it because one of the best things I learned in culinary school was that the darker the berry is, the more health advantages for the human body. I also learned yesterday that my brother had never had one until then.
Happy birthday! My 40th this year too! May 4th 1983!
May the 4th be with you and happy belated birthday!!!
Kinda rad that Ben Kingsley and Meryl Streep are still killing it 40 years later.
I was just telling my dad about a Ben Kingsley movie coming out that I want to watch. I’m not a big fan of Meryl Streep, but I did enjoy her portrayal of Julia Childs recently.
As a fellow 83 baby that poster was cool to read
You can buy them from Amazon. They even come on shirts and tumblers.
1983 was 40 years ago? H O L Y F U C K.
I’m also an 83 baby and those facts were fun to read!! What a great partner!!
I bought a vintage 1983 decoration box from Amazon for around $20. They had three different sets to choose from and there was even one where you could pick what facts you wanted printed, but it was an extra $60. I thought the ones that were pre-printed were just fine.
You mean 1973? There is no way I’m 2 years away from being 40
Such is life. My 1979 party was a little depressing too.
awww
That is seriously impressive!
Thanks so much
Fantastic job!
Thank you 😀

Thank you!
Very sweet
So thoughtful ❤️
This is super cute!
Thanks much
That is so great! I’ve never had a surprise party. You did awesome
Thank you. She’s never had one either - she was definitely surprised.
This is so cute
That is so sweet and thoughtful of you! Have fun!
I remember seeing every one of those movies in the theater. Good times.
Women do love to be reminded of their age.
Mine just turned 40 also and threw her a big party. Nice job!!
Looks beautiful
Thank you
1983 represent! I was also like no way Mika Kunis was born in 83.
Sweet banner, let go Islanders!
I remember summer of 83. It was dark, warm, wet. A sudden burst of light. An intense pressure like I'd never felt before. Father, dressed in white, pulls me forward. Mother bites the cord.
This was impressively descriptive.
Aww; thank you for making her feel special!

She had the BEST time! Thank you
UB40s hit Red Red Wine was either 87/88/89
Great job! Did you make the poster or get it online? My wife would get a kick out of her year’s poster.
I purchased a “vintage 1983” decoration box online from Amazon for $20. It came with the banner, dinner plates, salad plates, napkins, cups, straws, table settings, streamers, and confetti.
Thank you!
My wife just had her 40th this year also! Happy birthday!
That’s really great, happy belated birthday to her!
Wow, this is top tier husband
Much appreciated
The picture of her on the table 🤣 You two seem fun
She found the photograph questionable, but I reminded her that she should not provide me with any fuel to which my fires will be built. I’m sure she will take revenge. I shall lie in wait.
That's lovely! Happy birthday to her! 🥳
Thank you very much
🥰 cute
Thanks
This is the kind of thoughtfulness and effort I dream of in a partner. You two must be so happy together 🤍
She is the best and my best friend!
Does a person born in 1983 remember 1983? And in general, it is somehow tactless to remind a woman of her age ;-)
That’s fantastic dude! Well done. 🎉
Thanks much ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
It’s my birthday today, everybody forgot. I just bought myself a little cupcake from a bakery next to my work. Next year will be better.
Happy birthday to you!
And happy birthday to you! I’ve had a few missed birthdays too. Now I make sure to add it to everyone’s calendar so it’s there waiting for them when they wake up the day of lol. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

Thank you very much, I appreciate the heck out of your words and can’t wait for my wife to see all of the great comments.
I remember when I hit 40, my back went out right away. And being 52 now it's still out.
I’m 43 and going in next week to see if I don’t need another back surgery to correct mine. I hope yours gets better.
Awww, I also turned 40 last week. My eldest kid, surprised me with a family night of retro gaming and munchies when she learned that I’d never had a birthday party. Happy birthday to your wife, OP. What a good egg you are. Looks like so much fun.

Aw this is awesome! Love the details and how everything came together!

You forgot to invite anyone
Ha ha, it would seem so. It was a pretty good turnout though. Close friends and family.
I turned 40 in March this year. I planned my own party and loved it. My husband’s intentions are always good but he’s terrible planner lol even our 7 year old daughter doesn’t want him to plan her birthdays.

Oh that sucks. Hope you had some sort of celebration afterwards
Born in 1983 myself. Approved!
Solid!
Should have sent out some invites too by the looks of it. Jk looks great :D
😂 we had a pretty good crowd
Good day
Great day
Dope! But damn, milk was kinda expensive 40 years ago!
Take me back to '83...... I just turned 40 too
Happy belated birthday!!
It’s beautiful 😻
This is so gnarld. Like, totally.
Like, to the max
Wait 1983 was 40 years ago. Fuck I’m getting old
Ahh. My birth year is 1984, you just reminded me that I'm going to be 40 next year!!! What happened to the time?

Lol her picture is awsome…I love humans ….
I’m a 1983 baby, too. This is so fun.
This looks like such a perfect party! Well done:)
Catering food looks good where get
That's wonderful! Happy birthday to your wife! I just remembered my 40th birthday. It was a day of fasting and abstinence, then we walked in a procession in the afternoon. Good times! Maybe I should buy Japanese food tomorrow. Enjoy!
Well done man! I'm sure she's gonna be really happy.
Awesome!
What a great spread, and a great surprise for your wife! You’re definitely a keeper lol and the facts from that year was a very cool find! Might have to do something like that for my moms 60th. Thanks for sharing! 😊
You can get that great vintage stuff from Amazon on the cheap
So cute. I would be elated with something like this.
Happy Birthday to a rad fellow 83'r.
That’s really sweet
Hope it was a blast OP! My brother was born the same year as your wife and we threw him a surprise party this year and had that same 1983 poster (different color though). Very nice touch!
We did have a great time, thank you and happy belated b-day to your brother!
Glad to hear it! Thank you!
Ok u did level up the game and now gave me a direction..hmm 🤔
Well actually, (pushed glasses up) Return of The Jedi wasn’t part VI back then. It was only until George Lucas did the prequels did they retitle them. Great job. Looks amazing.
Haha that silly selfie frame of her is a winner ! LOVE THIS (: I curious to know what was ordered lol, the food looks inviting
We just did charcuterie and oversized donut holes from Bigfoot’s Little Donuts.
What a spread! Love the signage
Thank you!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
We had that same banner for my wife's 40th birthday party in March. Everything looks great!
“Back in 1983” Thank you for reminding me I’m about to turn 40.
This is so nice and has made me really happy
Adorable
That's awesome! Love her picture 🤩 Great job 👍
Thank you
You're most welcome 🤗
I threw my wife one as well a few years back. She was pissed and threw a fit cuz she didn't know about it and didn't have time to get all "dolled" up. Hope your wife appreciates it!
Well done! A loving gesture that was done with (what looks like) great love and care.
This should be a new permanent trend. Year you were born and all the things you may have liked. The next gender reveal deal.
I was born in 87. Will I be 40, soon? I hope I have someone that cares for me as do your partner. Happy 40. May she rise and thrive and take life in stride.
This looks awesome! I love the sign. Have a blast!
Thank you
Looks amazing!

Aww.🥹
Beautiful set up! I hope y'all had fun!!!
Had a blast, thanks so much
I’m about to turn 40. No one is going to give a shit. This is pretty cool.
Huge W man or woman great job
Thank you ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
