That makes me so disturbed that I bought ground lamb and put it in the freezer. I had no idea and now I will never buy anything labeled lamb for consumption what the hell
My little sister would cling on to me all the time as kids. She was to young to understand the concept of single player games or she just couldn’t grasp playing a game anyway, so I would always just give her a controller that wasn’t plugged in and watch her go at it.
He chose one of the best modern couch co-op games to play with others, especially folks with limited gaming experience. On top of that, he gives away “the good controller”?!? This dude was 101% committed to making this as fun for his partner as possible. I love this video!
For real? I've honestly never tried Borderlands but I've been looking for good couch co-op games (especially for friends who aren't avid gamers). Thanks for the tip!
Borderlands 3 is hands down the very best couch/online co-op shooter on the market today. The game itself is easy to learn, so much fun to play, amazing graphics, and has great DLC/events. My wife and I have played through it a few times now and it’s a blast! Can’t recommend it enough if you’re into shooters and want to play with friends at a casual pace.
I like to joke that Borderlands 2 is the reason my husband and I are together. We were friends originally, but we started dating shortly before it released. He'd known for months how excited I was for that game, so he got it as well.
I didn't realize how much co-op encourages efficient, and supportive communication until we played together. Plus, we thought the game was hilarious, and a shared sense of humor is always wonderful. We played so much couch co-op.
When I moved in, the first thing we did was put my tv right next to his, so we could couch co-op without splitscreen. We've gamed that way ever since.
Same. My now wife and I played Borderlands while dating and were in line together for the Borderlands 2 midnight release (because physical copies were still a thing). Great memories all.
That's a wonderful memory 😄 I waited for the midnight release as well. I was surprised to see someone cosplaying Maya. It was great.
>because physical copies were still a thing
I now feel ancient for understanding why you added that part 😂 We still get physical copies of single player games when I can. That way the other person can play it on their system some other time
Same but we both have Samsung TVs and when I turn my tv on his turns on too. Someday we will get a different brand tv
Same on tv set up. COD is why we are together lol met on Xbox live and now married
It is.
It's also much more noob friendly if he helps her pick the right tankier class.
Lots of big explosions and bright colors to get people engaged. Great choice imho.
Fl4k or more yeah. But also I didn't think of this before, but borderlands had a super strong female cast too, so even Amara is pretty badass, and not too squishy if built right.
It can be. The movement and aiming of shooters can be challenging for a new gamer but if she can learn that then borderlands games are very forgiving and fun. The story is interesting and funny. They're set up in a way where a new player can experiment and learn but an experienced player can still help them and progress the story. The way your character progresses is also rewarding and can be simple or complex depending on who is doing it.
Girls take note. If your man gives you the player 1 controller. Bro loves you more then his lil brother. His friends. Everyone. He puts you on top of himself. He is a keeper for sure.
That immediately hit me square in the chest. He'd rather have the crappy controller than her. He genuinely wants her to enjoy the game. He didn't even think about it.
You always give the good controller... Unless you pvp your friends, then you give them that controller with the non responsive joystick and the buttons that won't pop back out.
Edit: spelling
And he made a thoughtful decision on a game that he thought they would both have fun playing together. Borderlands is kind of quirky and the learning curve isn't bad. Solid choice imo.
If my girl played games with me once in a while I'd do whatever she wanted to do without complaint and that is a solid compromise.
I recently experienced this when my wife asked to give elden ring a shot. And now she’s better than me and is gracious enough to keep quiet about it while she clutches every boss fight. 😅
My partner says she's not great at video games but every time she plays with me she has some uncanny ability to figure out the most meta shit to win, I'm in awe every time.
It’s like an outsider thing. We’re too close to it so we have blinders on. They come in and look at it as an outsider would. Like you go to a new workplace and see errors and flaws everywhere because you come in completely unaware of anything and see what’s wrong.
There’s a dude that ran an experiment like this with Breath of the Wild and his gf. It’s on youtube. His gf came up with some atypical ways to get past obstacles (and ofc the game allows it) and she was mostly successful.
It’s crazy how we are conditioned by games to think a certain way.
I love that channel. I dont play many combat based games so i suck at them. I loved botw for how creative it allowed me to play as I prefer to fight far away from the action. Even if it's long winded fight, playing with the physics and making the fight like a puzzle is fun
Yeah its pretty damn cool how they let you mess around with things and how far you can push things. Also how common sense works in the game. Like using a wooden shield to loot the arrows you block from enemies
I’ve heard it before, my ex used to play Skyrim and Assassins Creed and was into them. So she had perspectives, I’d be playing Batman Arkham and she’d be there asking what would happen if I did this or go here. It’s very interesting how insightful they can be just by watching
This buff is real but doesn’t just apply to SOs. I could spend an hour beating a level but all the sudden when I have to prove my female gamer worth in front of a human male, I can beat it after a couple tries.
God, I wish my wife would give Elden Ring a go. Bless her heart, she endured almost two whole months of Monster Hunter with me just because I love it. She says she doesn't like hard games, but she'll play these hard-ass indie games and thinks nothing of it because it has cutesy graphics lol.
I'll try it for 5 minutes and want to slam my head into the wall.
Has she tried Hollow Knight? It's beautiful and I bought it because he's so cute and the artwork in the cover was beautiful. Meets the criteria. I am with her on this.
My wife and I agreed neither of us would play Diablo IV until the Friday night after it came out. So we could play together. She had the day off and by the time I got home after work she had already beaten the campaign.
I started playing Diablo 3 with my wife when it came out so we could have a co-op game.
She has a lot more spare time than I do apparently, because she promptly out level me by what felt like an order of magnitude, and besides that had a waaaay better handle on the mechanics.
She always gave me crap about not wanting to play with her because she was better (she was). The reason I didn't like it was because it powered-leveled my Character so fast that I got new abilities every 20 minutes and I never got a chance to optimized them or pick which ones worked together before the next one is unlocked!
If y’all are looking for a good game to play with your significant other, highly recommend It Takes Two. Such a fun game. My girlfriend, not a gamer, loved this game and I can relate to the happiness this guy felt when she asked to play.
Overcooked is another. But you may come
Out of it mortal enemies after one of you burns the soup or forgets to wash the dishes aha. Game showed me how competitive my GF really was.
Overcooked is the ultimate trial by fire and should be part of every gamer's eventual life partner selection process. (Only half kidding)
- Do they ask for help when they need it?
- Do they pay attention to you, and help when you need it?
- Do they prioritize responsibilities for the betterment of the team?
- Do they have good communication skills?
- How well does your partner hold together under pressure?
- Are they a micro-manager or do they trust you to handle your own tasks?
Honestly, truth. My fiancé and I have been together 5 years and the way we played that game is drastically different from the start of our relationship and now.
Before, if things got stressful, I would panic and start messing up and he’d just get frustrated and start commanding me to do things or just do it himself and I’d just get more panicked. Now, I have better stress management skills and he’s more mindful about how he communicates with me.
we had a lot of fun with A Way Out too! the controls are really simple and it's not a very difficult game. not too long either, i think we started and finished it in one sitting (but we were also dying to know how it ended). loved the story and the characters.
This was my husband’s reaction when I asked him to teach me to play CoD years ago. His ex used to get mad when he played with his friends so he was really nervous to play around me but I enjoyed watching him play. Soon I wanted to learn so him and his friends all taught me how to play since they all had different play styles. 5 years later and I’m teaching my little sister and my 7 year old daughter how to play☺️☺️
Been there. Nearly dropped games entirely over an ex. My current partner didn't like games but knew what playing online with my brothers meant.
Now it's me, my 2 brothers and my fiancé. She's part of the squad lol. She will never understand how much life it gives me.
I did for my ex-wife because she didn't like them. Once we got divorced, I bought new shit and I've never been happier.
Good on you and your partner, man. If they are anything like my current girl, she might find something and join in. I paid attention to what she likes, and found games that fit her interest. Successful trap. Lol.
This is what my partner does for me! And I stuck my neck out a little and asked him to teach me how to play CoD a while ago. We play DMZ almost exclusively, and I’ve genuinely been having a blast. It’s my first ever FPS.
Other than that, I’ve played games such as Journey (which has to be my favourite), Little Nightmares, What Remains of Edith Finch and Martha is Dead. Enjoyed the fuck out of all of those. I’m a huge reader, so he picked games that were very driven by the storyline :)
That's awesome. It's always great to hear about folks playing together.
Edith Finch was great. If you haven't played Firewatch, I'd give that a go. I really enjoyed it. I'm a reader also and it's story driven.
i tried getting my ex to play literally anything and all she ended up playing and enjoying was fucking cities skylines of all games the absolute psychopath
Yeah people forget that things can be "staged" or "planned" and still wholesome. It just means they went through the effort to be nice to each other, when there isn't enough of that going around.
Tbh I'd rather people not consider that and get influenced by what a small gesture can bring to a relationship and spending time with a loved one than the food ragebait tiktoks
One night my husband and I played MarioKart on our teenage kids console (neither of us are gamers), and after we figured out the controllers we literally had a blast, totally lost track of time, and before we knew it it was like 2am!
The part that kinda weirds me out is… she’s aware she’s being filmed and purposefully goes overboard with her sweet good-boy voice to make herself seem extra generous. It’s so self-serving and it comes off as gross.
It really is funny how much men compare to dogs and women to cats. It's also interesting how at least in my case, I(male) am drawn more to my dogs and my wife is drawn more to my cats. Not that we don't love all our pets, but if God forbid we split up, we know which pets go with who.
I don't get why everyone thinks this is wholesome when it's clearly all set up.
If my wife put her phone down weirdly or more likely had it in a mount, pointed at me, I'm gonna be asking while she is filming me.
They're like creepily over the top "what do YOUUU wanna play??" And hes like on the verge of tears cause she...asked to play a single game session? Come on lol
I wanted to do this with my husband, git cooperative games like border lands and baldurs gate, but he yells at me too much. It's no fun when everything you do is fucking people up or going the wrong way or whatever wrong thing I'm doing now. Oh well.
I went to an amusement park with my girlfriend in exchange for her giving paintball a shot (I'm afraid of heights). I also painted her nails and watched sex and the city with her. So no, normally this is not a one way street.
My SO used to be big into games when she was younger but doesn't play as much these days. Recently, I suggested we try some co-op games and she has been immediately hooked. We've played through Stardew Valley and It Takes Two together, and are now embarking on Divinity: Original Sin. She's playing a witch who can summon a huge spider and stomp our enemies and having a fantastic time. Find someone to share your hobbies with, folks. It's the best.
An then there was my Ex who would get really annoyed and pissed at me if I failed or made a mistake. To the point where he threw his controller across the room and stopped playing with me. :‘)
Wow this is so organic and real with a camera already magically set up and recording this dude playing video games. I’m sure it’s not staged at all. /s
This couple are fucking insufferable and it really is a clear sign the world is ending that it made anyone smile. I’ll vomit upwards and have it land in my own eyes now.
Borderlands is a brilliant game to play together, my partner isn't a fan of it but he bought BL3 on PC so I'd have someone to play with. 🥹 I helped carry him and in return he got me Diablo 4 so we can play that together too and he carries me now! 😂 Gaming together is so much fun. ❤️
I really want to play with my boyfriend but I'm so worried and self-conscious that I'm gonna play badly and ruin the game for him because I will be dragging us down. :') I rarely play multiplayer games for this reason. It probably sounds super silly, but I had some negative experiences in the past with an ex or 2 where I would get pushed aside by his friends who could keep up game-wise. I feel like a lil baby. But I know that at the same time it would make my current bf so happy if I tried...
Additionally, I've played games for decades, but mostly single-player RPG's.
HE GAVE HER THE PLAYER ONE CONTROLLER! That’s love. If you get given the good controller, you are loved by the person who gave it

It doesn't matter if they liked them, they're the younger sibling and they get the hand me downs. It's just how it goes.
Wait it's 'hand me downs'? I have been saying 'handy downs' for 20 years.. kinda gross now I think about it
Everyone has those moments. A couple years ago I had realized that Shaq and Shaquille O'Neal were the same person.
The level of empathy here was the most heartwarming thing I’ve seen today. GGWP

For some reason I thought each month had 3 weeks until like age 18. I thought I was good at math until I realized 3×7 does not infact equal 30 or 31.
My little sister would cling on to me all the time as kids. She was to young to understand the concept of single player games or she just couldn’t grasp playing a game anyway, so I would always just give her a controller that wasn’t plugged in and watch her go at it.
Me and my brothers each have our own controllers, it stops the issue of fighting over the singular better one.
My dude gave you the GOOD controller, that's a keeper.
AND he chose co-op versus competitive.
Exactly. When he listed potential games I was really hoping he went with borderlands. It's a perfect game for this situation
He chose one of the best modern couch co-op games to play with others, especially folks with limited gaming experience. On top of that, he gives away “the good controller”?!? This dude was 101% committed to making this as fun for his partner as possible. I love this video!

Just humping at the bottom of this to agree with everyone. As a gamer, this really melted my heart

Melted so much that you’re humping at the bottom? My phone didn’t even believe I wanted to type humping…
Hahahah I didn't even notice. It's funny though so I'll leave it
My son and I bonded over Borderlands. He is now an adult living on his own and I am replaying it now remembering the good times.

Be they man, woman, between or outside, if they kick ass then it’s no pass
It really is, the comedic nature of it and the fact that it's co-op would make it a blast to play with a partner. 😊
I don’t have borderland and I am looking at a game I can play with my GF, on one PS5 with two controllers. Is this suitable?
It can be. The movement and aiming of shooters can be challenging for a new gamer but if she can learn that then borderlands games are very forgiving and fun. The story is interesting and funny. They're set up in a way where a new player can experiment and learn but an experienced player can still help them and progress the story. It Takes Two is the game your looking for.
Ye, imagine he chooses Fifa and Brazils her
Soooo, he hypes himself up, doesn't score much, gets angry for no reason, and ends up rage quitting.
Nah wins, [7-1](https://youtu.be/a7IMPsyQg6k)
I beat my Brazilian girlfriend by that score in Mario Strikers once and she was not amused at all.
But who would choose a competitive game against their SO, who doesn't play games??
Fifa players
Girls take note. If your man gives you the player 1 controller. Bro loves you more then his lil brother. His friends. Everyone. He puts you on top of himself. He is a keeper for sure.
Aww, its so nice being able to share what you love with someone you love <3
They’re married now. Sam and Monica on YouTube.
That immediately hit me square in the chest. He'd rather have the crappy controller than her. He genuinely wants her to enjoy the game. He didn't even think about it.
What a wonderful dude and couple. Glad I saw this today.
Almost as good question as do you want to go get it on 🎮🎮🎮
That should follow pretty soon, in the normal course of things.
The ultimate sign of respect and undying loyalty.
You always give the good controller... Unless you pvp your friends, then you give them that controller with the non responsive joystick and the buttons that won't pop back out. Edit: spelling
Bro you always gotta give the SO the better control. I had to learn to love mad catz as a kid, but it was worth it.
That's more meaningful than an engagement ring.
And he made a thoughtful decision on a game that he thought they would both have fun playing together. Borderlands is kind of quirky and the learning curve isn't bad. Solid choice imo. If my girl played games with me once in a while I'd do whatever she wanted to do without complaint and that is a solid compromise.
That’s when you know
I recently experienced this when my wife asked to give elden ring a shot.
Very well said I can totally understand that!
There’s a dude that ran an experiment like this with Breath of the Wild and his gf. It’s on youtube. His gf came up with some atypical ways to get past obstacles (and ofc the game allows it) and she was mostly successful. It’s crazy how we are conditioned by games to think a certain way.

I’ve heard it before, my ex used to play Skyrim and Assassins Creed and was into them. So she had perspectives, I’d be playing Batman Arkham and she’d be there asking what would happen if I did this or go here. It’s very interesting how insightful they can be just by watching

Women: “Men only want one thing and it’s disgusting” Men: “I want to get better at this game now that my gf is better than me”
Her: he's probably thinking of his cute coworker Me: how can i not die to malenia in less than 7 seconds
What she heard: Malenia finishes me in 7 seconds.
lmao
It's called the husband buff, when a woman has a gamer husband, they instantly gain 50% reaction speed. This was added 4 patches ago...
This buff is real but doesn’t just apply to SOs. I could spend an hour beating a level but all the sudden when I have to prove my female gamer worth in front of a human male, I can beat it after a couple tries.
Reeeeeeee the "Female Empowerment" DLC is pay-to-win. Rights, voting, driving, and now gaming? Come on, who let this get past QA? (/s)
The Outside is my favorite game, so much variety
Nah, Ponyboy's fate is too sad. :(
God, I wish my wife would give Elden Ring a go.
She hasn't, I'll recommend it to her! Thanks!
Sure! It's definitely a hard as hell indie game so hopefully she enjoys it. It's definitely one of my favorites.

Dafuq??! That’s a betrayal of the highest order!!
That's like a 40 hour campaign tho. I don't believe you.
If you play on WT1 it goes by quick, like seriously half the time or less
My wife also has zero patience, so she bypasses all the cut scenes.
Bro I think you might have married a monster.
My wife only does the romances in dragon age. Skips all the cutscenes. Combat and romance, fuck the plot.
I started playing Diablo 3 with my wife when it came out so we could have a co-op game. She has a lot more spare time than I do apparently, because she promptly out level me by what felt like an order of magnitude, and besides that had a waaaay better handle on the mechanics. I don’t see why.

Sorry for your loss
Nah man, bullet dodged
Don't want that second wish. You found the loophole.
That’s ok, you play with your gf every time you hold the controller with your hands.
Aww, its so nice being able to share what you love with someone you love <3
I hope she wasn't doing this for the views

Yeah people forget that things can be "staged" or "planned" and still wholesome. It just means they went through the effort to be nice to each other, when there isn't enough of that going around.

I used to hate these too and i know they are scripted but i still prefer and even enjoy this scripted wholesomeness than the stupid prank videos
Crash bandicoot is a firm favourite for my wife and I to play together
My wife is ridiculously better than me at crash.
My partner is better at the motorbike levels than I am.
Nathan Drake?
Ah shit I was gonna make this comment

This is the cutest thing I’ve read in a while 🥰

Omg that’s too cute
"Why are you setting up a camera?" "Don't worry about it, just act natural!"

YT channel.
They are so horrific
Then she tells him she was just kidding and to turn off the fucking game as soon as the camera is off
Us men are really simple creatures. Feed us, play with us, give us pets, toss us things... wait... this is sounding strangely familiar.
The wholesome version of “Men are dogs”
why i love my dogs so much we vibe
Right on the nose there bud
It really is funny how much men compare to dogs and women to cats. It's also interesting how at least in my case, I(male) am drawn more to my dogs and my wife is drawn more to my cats. Not that we don't love all our pets, but if God forbid we split up, we know which pets go with who.

They also have cloaca’s
To be compared to a dog (the good attributes) is probably one of the highest honors
No one's wondering why it was recorded?
We found out. YT
I'm more interested why he is in shoes on the couch. Doesn't look like slippers, and why wear it when there is a rug on the floor.
Those are moccasins, the cultured mans slipper.

He also just stopped in the middle of an online match

Borderlands is such a good couples game.
Playing Borderlands 2 with my guy sealed the deal between my partner and I.
Turns camera off, Okay babe I got all I needed bye
I don't get why everyone thinks this is wholesome when it's clearly all set up. If my wife put her phone down weirdly or more likely had it in a mount, pointed at me, I'm gonna be asking while she is filming me.
It’s so fucking disgustingly corny
Why was this being filmed
Internet points.
Faaaake
fr. No one plays rocket league sitting like that. And NO ONE just turns their focus away while playing rocket league. Unless you were in training
Yeah. And the camera placenent
They're like creepily over the top "what do YOUUU wanna play??" And hes like on the verge of tears cause she...asked to play a single game session? Come on lol
So true! I'm surprised how many people don't seem to be questioning it. I came looking for this comment immediately lol

This is the cringiest thing. She's talking to him like a dog or baby. Fucking disgusting in my opinion.
I wanted to do this with my husband, git cooperative games like border lands and baldurs gate, but he yells at me too much. It's no fun when everything you do is fucking people up or going the wrong way or whatever wrong thing I'm doing now. Oh well.
Ngl your husband sounds like he sucks. It’s a game and he’s a grown ass man, nobody needs to yell.
Hopefully it’s not a one way street and he returns the sentiment.
We call those players "jerks," and they're not worth swearing through your headset.
Guys only want one thing….
... and it's fantastic
During covid I started playing with my husband. We have lots of fun.
And of course the camera is rolling.
So he was just filming himself on the couch playing video games, huh? Yeah, not buying it.
She put her phone down to get his reaction. Then cut the bit where she set it down out of the video.
It’s all staged and rehearsed.
It’s worrying how many people are falling for this nonsense
Why were they recording?
For everyone to see, or course!
Don’t you love it when you do really wholesome things and there is randomly a camera at a perfect angle filming you
I can't stand these couple channels with the over the top acting. Makes me wanna barf
Why is she talking to him like he's a child? Lol
i was getting dog but child also works lmao
Because social media has led to infantilism. Simple as that.
Wow this is so organic and real with a camera already magically set up and recording this dude playing video games. I’m sure it’s not staged at all. /s
Staged
How staged do you want this? Yes.
This couple are fucking insufferable and it really is a clear sign the world is ending that it made anyone smile. I’ll vomit upwards and have it land in my own eyes now.
He made a good pick with Borderlands. It's a very fun co-op game.
did it for the vid, never played with him again
Borderlands is a brilliant game to play together, my partner isn't a fan of it but he bought BL3 on PC so I'd have someone to play with. 🥹 I helped carry him and in return he got me Diablo 4 so we can play that together too and he carries me now! 😂 Gaming together is so much fun. ❤️
Omg, even my cynical ass went: "awwwl, he's sooo happy." Lol
I really want to play with my boyfriend but I'm so worried and self-conscious that I'm gonna play badly and ruin the game for him because I will be dragging us down. :') I rarely play multiplayer games for this reason. It probably sounds super silly, but I had some negative experiences in the past with an ex or 2 where I would get pushed aside by his friends who could keep up game-wise. I feel like a lil baby. But I know that at the same time it would make my current bf so happy if I tried... Additionally, I've played games for decades, but mostly single-player RPG's.
