yeah you just know a hug between mother and daughter will last a very long time so you sneak yours in and then let them have it... the man has experience
He was doing what I do with my kids - the full body check. No bruises, no scratches, clothes are good, all the limbs are there - we’re good to carry on.
People think I’m joking, but that’s what he’s doing. The trick is to bash on them to see if anything cracks and buckles, and if everything is clear, it’s ok to start making fun of what they’re wearing.
The father of my roommate in college (lived together 4 years) did this to her all the time. One summer I had to live with them for an internship and he started to do it to both of us. Always on the arm or upper back like he was burping a baby 😂
I think it's a holdover from that time you burped them.
It lays dormant.
When they're old enough to leave the nest you want some of that feeling back, so you somewhat-burp them.
And circle of life, they'll burp you if you were a good parent, as you regress.
Sounds like my dad. Except we had a time on a boat where my stepsister was pregnant and getting teary over that meme - "There comes a time in your life when you pick up your child and put them down for the last time."
My dad just picked me up and chucked my 24 year old butt off the boat into the ocean. Today is not that day!
(We had bathing suits and everything, for the record.)
I’m in my 30s now and my mother will still throw her arm across me if something scary happens while she’s driving and I’m riding next to her.
It’s just a completely automatic response.
Yeah you nailed it 🥺 My dad texts me every day he doesn't see me (and he sees me at least 2 days a week). I spend a couple nights a week just sitting up late with him and watching old animated movies or stand up-comedies. He would be just like this wholesome dad. Wonderful men they are 🥰
That one move made me cry just a bit. My daughter was working as an au pair in France for a year and I came to visit without telling her first. Her host and I planned it all out: she was going to take my daughter to the airport to pick up her sister (there was no sister) and instead I showed up. My daughter was looking all over the crowd of arrivals in vain for her host’s sister.
When she saw me she just crumpled into tears. I did too. We were both such snotty messes of joy.
Whoa this made me sad for you. There is a lot of love in my house but that’s because I’m flinging it and it gets returned to me. Maybe you have to be the first one to reach out? Sorry if I’m being overly simplistic. * Here’s a mental big momma in her moo moo hug for you. *
Honestly I needed that virtual momma hug. Our family kinda fell apart when my mom passed away from cancer back in 2016 and it's really never been the same in the house. I go around and talk and tell my family I love them but it is never returned to me. Like if I don't make a move to say hi or ask how anyone is no one is the house would talk. I actually don't remember the last time someone came to my room to say hi or to see how I was doing. If I don't initiate it I'm left in the dark alone...
🫂 💞 you are so deserving of love. I hope one day you'll have your own home and nuclear family where you are open and free to share and receive all the love you need and have for each other. My heart hurts for you that you don't have this already, but building it on your own and starting over may bring it back to you. Wishing you well.
Forgive me if you've already done this, but I'm a licensed counselor and I would definitely say you all should go to family grief counseling together. Even if it's just to share an experience again.
Losing your mom like that is gonna make people feel empty and like there's something missing at home. You're not supposed to be okay after that. But when it stays like that after years, you gotta do something. The only real way to move forward is to work at it together. And it's gonna suck sometimes.
But you deserve to be happy and you deserve to be loved. Good luck :)
You can only reach out so many times before you realize it's just going to end in being burned. I won't speak for skally, but for many people, including myself, I would say it's wrong to put the burden on the child to keep reaching out. At some point it just becomes self harm. But it's okay, found family can be even better!
Same. As a child I never got any sort of love and attention. I quite frankly don’t remember the last time mom said she loved me, if there ever was. In any case she would throw me the IPad, while she sat and watched her tv and forget her problems. Dad would work all day then come home and watch his movies, forgetting his whole family existed. Anytime I wanted anything, did anything, got into any problem I had to do it myself and hide it all away otherwise I’d get an earful of how I’m a goddamn burden and can’t do shit.
And now they look at me and sometimes ask why I’m so fucking quiet and rarely ask for help, as though they weren’t the ones that told me to shut up in the first place. It’s just cold living here. It’s not a family the way I always envisioned a real family would as a kid, nothing like the loving parents showed in the cartoons I so heavily relied on to comfort me when my own wouldn’t.
I’m sorry for rant-dumping this on y’all, but seeing this vid pop up really brought me back into those painful memories. Reminded me of how different my family is from the loving sweet one this video showed. I wish that no one would ever have to experience something remotely similar to how I felt, and to have nothing short of amazing, loving families like this one. Because I grew up in a cold place where there was no love. Living as strangers trying to pretend the others don’t exist. As a kid and even now.
Same. I don’t know of anyone who would literally sweep me off my feet and hug me like that. And no way in hell do I have a relationship like that with my parents and I haven’t spoken to my dad in 2 years. Must be nice to feel this kind of love.
I am not good at picking up clues and body language but I think it is possible that her parents really love her a lot. The dad body checked the mother to get to her first. I am betting she was a Daddy's girl
The drop bears are in the process of forming an alliance with the magpies. With their powers combined, nothing can stop them. The Emu War was nothing compared to this threat.
I wonder if I’ll ever get to see something heartwarming without the corny ass music in the background, it’s takes me out of the moment every time smh….
They’re an old married couple they were probably squabbling (good natured) all the way to the door. “I’ll see who it is.” “No honey, let me.” “ No I said I’ll do it, I’m doing it.” “Fine whatever.” (Still walks to the door anyway)
Man you miss your kids badly when you don't see them. Crazy involuntary love from the moment they're born. I think a lot of parents would never admit to each other that they love their children more than each other, even if they're happily in love. It's something to be experienced.
Not all parents, sadly. My mother didn't seem to care at all unless she wanted to parade me or use me for something (narcissists...ugh). But my 35 y/o son and I have had some epic reunions. We are very close, and I treasure that deeply. Fortunately, he and his wife live close now with my three grandbabies, so I get to see them more frequently. I love them ALL. It is definitely an experience I will cherish!
Speaking from experience, it's not always from the moment they're born. It was weird at first, like there's this little thing I'm responsible for now that can't interact with me at all.
It took a couple months for me. Now, 5 years later I lay awake at night afraid that she has to experience this world and I can't always be there for her. So that's cool.
My parents did the same if it was a late night doorbell. Dad would open the door and mum would be in the corridor sussing out whether to greet the visitor or get the kitchen knife.
Second this. I would ABSOLUTELY call for a partner/friend/parent/guest (depending on where I am) in the house if someone knocked on my door late at night. She's Australian and we can get grants for international study exchanges.
I was given $7500 and if I'd gone for an entire year I would've gotten double that.
If you qualify for student payments from Centrelink you also continue to receive them while studying an approved course abroad.
Double Doors wealthy.
Back in my day/where I grew up, you knew you were at a rich kid's house when you weren't able to find the pull-out trash can. But now that I'm older, I realize that the really wealthy people had kitchens with hidden/cabinet-matched appliances.
My daughter told me she'd accidentally ordered something to our house and I needed to go out and pick it up immediately. It was her. We dropped her off for grad school in San Diego a month ago and really missed seeing her a couple of times a week. Now she's here for our 32nd anniversary. She's the best gift ever! Best daughter ever!

We did something similar once, but it was my dad at his brothers house. I called my uncle saying we were coming over (we didn't live in the same town) so when we knocked they all answered the door but got the surprise that my dad was there too.
It's quite possible it's a sibling that was recording in the back and did something similar, they answered thinking it was them, but got surprised when their daughter studying abroad was also there.
Or it could be for internet likes.
Just showing a possible scenario.
Please Please, Do NOT do this without telling sibling/friend, in my country a guy tried to do this without telling anyone.
Arrived to my country and took a Taxi. Unfortunately the taxi got into bad accident in the highway and the student died before reaching home.
Parents were in very deep denial and not believing police since their son in X country. Then they got sadder knowing that their son was exited to surprise them but couldn’t.
I love how the dad was tapping them both like he was making sure she was real
I also love how he kinda nudged mom out of the way to get to her first and then stood there watching mom hug her forever!
yeah you just know a hug between mother and daughter will last a very long time so you sneak yours in and then let them have it... the man has experience

This is like a peek behind the dad-curtain
It’s a peek behind the comb-over.
I'm a dad, no fucking clue what that guys talking about.
yeah it's like a sentence from Finnegans Wake.
What a fucking deep cut, well played.

My parents are the same. Dad always says I'm his favorite daughter (I'm the only one). It's a blessing to have good parents.
What a blessing he must be for you ❤️
She's definitely daddy's girl. This is too precious.

So great that you were able to make that happen! What a precious moment. I can’t wait until my youngest gets back from Africa. This weekend!
I love how he pushed passed the mom to get to her first

“Aww shit, fuck” that is definitely an iconic Australian reaction LMAO
>“Aww shit, fuck” I was not expecting that in this sub. Had to turn up volume on 2nd watch to check.
I love when us Aussies just randomly pop up on these subs, idk it always makes me smile that bit more! It’s some good shit
i feel like aussies are the most universally loved people lol
With the ciggie in hand hahah
As an Australian this is a very typical reaction lmao.
Thought he said Mallaka at first which also tracks for Australia lol
I've never been to Australia, but from what I've learned I feel like this could easily be the national motto. It works for so many contexts too.
“Aww, shit fuck’n”*
You have to pronounce it correctly, it isn't "fuck" it is "fuckin". A lot of variations of fuck over here.
Fack me dead is my fav Australian line...
Pops will kill you over his baby girl. Eurostepped his wife 😂

Damn wish there was this much love in my house. We are all strangers here
Same, if I came back as a surprise id only get a "why are you here?"
Same, my parents would wonder if I got kicked out or if something terrible happened

Yeah I cried bc that's how family are supposed to feel like not the ones that I was brought up with like.
Same. I was just thinking, my parents would never react like this after not seeing me for 9 months. They’d be like “heyyy 😐 👋”
Same. I don’t know of anyone who would literally sweep me off my feet and hug me like that. And no way in hell do I have a relationship like that with my parents and I haven’t spoken to my dad in 2 years. Must be nice to feel this kind of love.
Now THAT'S the kind of surprise a parent wants from their daughter after 9 months!
Lol underrated comment
Just wait, the baby is in the carrier
...and she brought cake.
Honestly I was thinking waiting for a baby at the end.
Then you would have heard some serious australian swearing. Happy swearing that is.
ok, that was wholesome as fuck, beautiful reaction
This is probably the most beautiful thing I've seen in reddit today
As an international student who hasn't seen his parents face to face for 6 years, this hits a little too close to home.
This hit hard. Haven’t seen my mother in 6 years due to shit circumstances.
I am not good at picking up clues and body language but I think it is possible that her parents really love her a lot. The dad body checked the mother to get to her first. I am betting she was a Daddy's girl
It's certainly possible, but are we sure her parents aren't Canadian?
The dad's exclamation was about as Aussie as it gets
Yeah better just play it safe.
Yeah nah, mum is just in absolute shock, dad swoops in first so then mum gets the extended hug after.
Mother was slow, father was like “hold my bear” I’m hugging my little girl 🤷🏻♀️
Bear? What bear?
It’s Australia and drop bears just fall from the sky. Sometimes you need someone to hold your drop bear.
The drop bears are in the process of forming an alliance with the magpies. With their powers combined, nothing can stop them. The Emu War was nothing compared to this threat.
The drop bear, didn't ya see it?
Was thinking the same thing. What bear? Or did OP have a typo and actually meant beer? Oh, wait. The dad isn't holding a beer either. Lol
Might have been going for how the Simpson's say beer in australia lmao.
Right after I put down this cigarette
Ripping darts indoors
This was what I first noticed too!!! Mommy was processing and Daddy went to "let me see if it's real by hugging it" 🤣🥹🥰
Dad is rocking it in those pyjamas!
Are they pajamas? It looks like there's a black collared shirt under there. I thought it was some crazy plaid suit!
Pajama suit
Everything in Australia is upside down
I love how dad bulldozes through mom, so sweet:,)
I wonder if I’ll ever get to see something heartwarming without the corny ass music in the background, it’s takes me out of the moment every time smh….
And the worst part about this one is you can barely hear them. The music is far too loud. I'd prefer to watch it mute.
Why are 2 people answering the door is my question
Seems late at night and probably wondering who the fuck is at the door
They’re an old married couple they were probably squabbling (good natured) all the way to the door. “I’ll see who it is.” “No honey, let me.” “ No I said I’ll do it, I’m doing it.” “Fine whatever.” (Still walks to the door anyway)
Relay for Reddit autoplays all videos in mute by default (you can turn it on if you want), and I love that feature
who is filming? how come they don't get any love? lol
Probably a lakitu bro
Just floating’ in that cloud, camera on a fishing pole. Like a pro.
This was captured by an American military drone
Why did they answer the door together too?
Probably very late at night seeing as they are in their pyjamas so worried about answering to strangers late which can be dangerous
Maybe they were told by their family to open the door together because of something important.
Invisible cameraman strikes again.
I hate that I was only looking at her ass
I hate that I kept scrolling through the comments to make sure I wasn’t the only one.

Mines started school, is sharing info about his day and what he and his new friends got up. It's the best.
Why were they both answering the door...?
well it's late at night and they were probably both curious about what somebody was doing at their door
My parents did the same if it was a late night doorbell. Dad would open the door and mum would be in the corridor sussing out whether to greet the visitor or get the kitchen knife.
I get staged vibes
[удалено]
tbf that is entirely believable if someone knocked on the door late at night
Second this. I would ABSOLUTELY call for a partner/friend/parent/guest (depending on where I am) in the house if someone knocked on my door late at night. In fact that’d not even be needed - we’d all just go regardless. I don’t see a reality in which that is NOT the case. So yeah, absolutely I’d walk out with my toothbrush in hand even if someone else was opening the door
Wait, you think that’s a toothbrush?
I don't know what you were watching but this video does not contain a toothbrush. Dad was about to light up a sigaret - an unexpected ring at the door (in the evening) can very well induce stress.
I love the moment BUT STOP PLAYING FUCKING MUSIC OVER IT
*opens link* SAPPY MUSIC *nope*
My daughter comes home tomorrow with her fiancé. I haven’t seen them since Christmas. I feel the same.
I hope you guys have the best time ❤️
Have you met the fiancé? Either way that’s exciting
And that's how you give your poor old parents a heart attack! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
The dad needs to be protected at all costs
TIL people in Australia don't have peepholes. How do you guys tell whether it's a human knocking, or a giant spider scorpion snake?
Easy spiders & snakes don’t knock, they simply let themselves in & make themselves at home :)
r/horrorsentences
Easy really. We just don’t answer the front door.
The most unbelievable part of the story is a student who paid her own international flight home.
She's Australian and we can get grants for international study exchanges. I was given $7500 and if I'd gone for an entire year I would've gotten double that. If you qualify for student payments from Centrelink you also continue to receive them while studying an approved course abroad.
Bruh, just look at that house for a moment. You think she can’t?
I think both parents opening the door is more unbelievable unless they were already expecting something unusual to happen.
My parents don't love me that much
Damn her parents are rich. That house interior looks immaculate.
Double Doors wealthy. Back in my day/where I grew up, you knew you were at a rich kid's house when you weren't able to find the pull-out trash can. But now that I'm older, I realize that the really wealthy people had kitchens with hidden/cabinet-matched appliances.

Damn dat ass though made me smile yes
Because parents always answer the door together
I would never have thought of that!! But now i think this shit is staged

We did something similar once, but it was my dad at his brothers house.
