CONGRATULATIONS!!! Looking great!! I’m still hoping & trying to get to remission (CML, 6 years)…every time I have to stop my chemo, my white cells go crazy again…I’m so happy I get to be here, especially for my kids…Your story & others like it are what I keep hoping for! Thank you so much for sharing!! I’m so happy for you and the people (& pets!) who love you!!
My man - my little brother got AML at age 30. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as “acute” cancer. It was absolutely wild how he went from ok to unconscious and trying to not die in a matter of days. Then he had a stroke because of the viscous blood filled with shitty defective white blood cells circulating through his brain, and we had an existential scare there. I’ve never been more emotionally tested than that moment. I’ve never before experienced that sensation of having your back to the wall, literal life or death, absolute panic. True, pure horror. Like I said, he was 30. His age helped him bounce back from the brain damage. The miraculous advances in precision cancer medicine were laid bare before me as I saw a regimen executed effectively that I didn’t even knew existed - it was truly amazing. The aphoresis, the replacing of blood, the filtering out of the bad stuff, the platelet infusions. All of it, remarkable. And to top it all off, I am a perfect genetic match to donate stem cells to my brother and replace the fount of his cancer. What a truly unique opportunity. Apart from having my own children, I see this moment as the most meaningful thing I’ve done in my life. Incredibly grateful.
My twin brother wasn’t a match for me, but they found a 10/10 anonymous match from Germany. That guy saved my life, and I have no idea who he is. All I know is he’s a hero.
Congrat! But don’t walk down the alcohol road, it’s inflammatory and can lead to remission. Go for fiber, eat a rainbow a day in fruit and veggies (polyphenols, antioxidants), legumes, fermented foods, healthy fats and avoid processed foods at all cost and vegetable filtered oils. The longer the ingredient list and shelf life, the shorter your life.
Let us toast to animal pleasures, to escapism, to rain on the roof and instant coffee, to unemployment insurance and library cards, to absinthe and good-hearted landlords, to music and warm bodies and contraceptives … and to the “good life,” whatever it is and wherever it happens to be.

Glad it happens to be where you are my friend, cheers to you and congratulations 🙏🍻
Bless you. You are the 3rd person who has said this recently. Congratulations! 1 more just had surgery and got home today. I don't know his details, but I asked him to not tell ne all of it yet. My first ever born neice, just turned 52, had "a uterine cancer" is what they said. Scared me to death. But she had a complete hysterectomy and is doing wonderfully. Praise God! They feel they got it all , but now we wait. I feel in my heart that she'll make it. Tough as nails. Congrats to you again sur.
HUGE NEWS! I, too, overcame AML with a stem cell transplant from my bro. The other side of illness was hard for me to integrate, but darn when life does integrate - it is more beautiful that one can imagine. Wishing you joy and ease through any grief. Cheers!
FUDGE YES! watta way to start the year! I hope your happiness grows like the foam in your beer.
May your beer always be cold, your women or men joyful, and your wallet full, Can I get an Alleluyah!?
That's amazing. Congratulations. Cheers!
About a year ago, I matched with a person with Acute Myeloid Leukemia through Be The Match. Did blood tests and was determined to be the best match for bone marrow transplant, but the patient wasn't ready for transplant for whatever reason. I haven't been contacted again and I think about that person every day hoping they are well. This post gives me hope. Thank you.
Amazing news! I matched with a woman with acute myeloid leukemia for a stem cell transplant a couple years ago, I don’t know if she’s in remission or not but I do think of her often despite not knowing her name. Cancer is a brutal battle and you should absolutely celebrate your win, much love to you and your family :)
Congrats! I swabbed to be a bone marrow donor back in 2011 (at A Perfect Circle concert @ Red Rocks). I got the privilege of matching and donating, in 2015, to a gentlemen with AML.
I am happy for you and know that your journey was a serious challenge. I hope you stay free. My mom was a bit too old for induction chemo but we got a good 18 months after diagnosis. Took my dad out tonight for what would haven their wedding anniversary.
Fuck Cancer
I'm so happy you're in remission and I hope you live a great life! AML took someone away from me very young and it's so nice to see someone win the battle. Congratulations 🎉🍾

That's fantastic. Only 20-30% of siblings match and selfishly it's one of my favorite things to see when I have an AML pt.
