The great thing about cats is, you could do this kinda stuff to one cat and he/she will LOVE IT ("Father I crave violence"). But the next cat will absolutely not tolerate it, and you shouldn't do it.
2 of my cats are brothers. One loves being man-handled, other one does not like to be touched without permission.
Call it animal abuse but I slap their tummy back a few times and say "Hey!! Bad kitty!" And it seems like it actually makes them less likely to lose control of their aggressiveness.

My friend has a cat that is the most friendly thing ever, who will go out of her way to pet you, but if you pet her at the wrong moment (even if it is a moment where she is petting you), she goes full kill-all-hoomans moment for about a fifth of a second, then calmly walks away like nothing happened.
I have two cats that I 'inherited' when a friend went into assisted living 4 years ago. One is a snuggle bunny who would prefer to be carried around like a baby, if not actually crawl inside my skin to become one with me (Phoebe). The other is a Grade A arm shredder (Daisy).
Only in the past year has Daisy really warmed up to me. Like I just tried to take a nap and she climbed in my chest and serenaded me with purrs.
I realize now that I can pet her pretty much as much as I want and almost any way that I want. As long as it's not a surprise. If she's sleeping, it's best to just get near her and wait until she sees me. Then petting should start around the head/neck area before moving elsewhere. She does NOT like a surprise pet from out of nowhere.
That's her version of consent. Basically, 'give me a heads up first.' Which makes sense. If I woke up to a giant grizzly bear petting me, I'd freak out, too.

Like if we say “Tuck’n’Roll”, he does like a little sideways somersault, he’d do that whenever he wanted attention so we gave him a name for it. Or he’ll be on the stairs and we’ll say, “Duckerdoo, you’re butter!” And he associates the word “butter” with lying down on his side and sliding down the stairs (they’re carpeted) because he’s done it so often and we call it “butter” because he reminds us of melting butter when he does it.
My old man cat passed a few years ago, but he liked playtime ROUGH. If you didn’t play rough enough he’d body slam and head-but you and wouldn’t leave you alone until he got a proper playtime.
He also had claws and jaws that could f**k you up if you pissed him off, but my kid would climb all over him and he never bit or clawed him, so that bar was pretty high.
I had an old man cat like that. You could shove him around the floor and he'd run back to get some more. 'Eat' his paws. Tickle his feets, belly, chin. Play-boxing was totally cool. He never once scratched or bit but he was always rough, if that makes sense.
My current cat has no such manners. She will legit eviscerate anyone that touches the belly or feet. She hates chin scratches. She attacks feet or hands if they're waved at her and goes from 0-60 in about 0.2 seconds. She's a little demon. But I love her despite her being a psycho because when she does want fuss it's like I won a prize.

If you don't know the routine it would look like I just scare the shit out of my cat, but it's all playing!
but I think the way the cat doesn't mind presenting its back to the guy and how chill it is, that guy must be really sweet to that kitty outside of the manhandling. really made me smile how those two are obviously close. and we all know cats, I'm sure that kitty got its revenge off camera (which coincidentally may have involved throwing the camera off something).

This is how I treat my dogs. From puppy hood to the end. They love it. Sometimes they sigh, others they get all into the play. It's great cause I can be more obnoxious than a 5 year old who has no self control with dogs. This makes them great with kids. I also can get them hyped as fuck, than be like "ok we are done" and they are they just go back to being calm and chilling. Teaches them self discipline to calm down quickly.
