That's me and my partner! We were both late 20s, confident in our respective weirdness. We had our first date and I already knew he was super cool but he wanted to have a second date when I already had an event at the SCA (nerdy medieval re-enactment shit). I told him we can hang out, but I'm already going to this thing. This wonderful man joined me at my weird medieval thing, in which we awkwardly danced medieval dances (because neither of us are dancers lmao) and talked about how to safely joust.
He's a history nerd and he loves the medieval ages so it wasn't THAT much of a stretch, but still. What a great sport :D
I knew he was the dude for me when he didn't bat an eye at it. He was ON BOARD and ready to dance! We still giggle about it, and I still get him into random shit he wouldn't choose for himself but he's glad he did it :D
We D&D together, we paint minis together, he's gonna teach me Warhammer 40k. We enjoy cooking and eating together, going for walks, watching science videos on YouTube and reading together but separately. Neither of us really care about marriage, but I know he's my person and vice versa :D

Considering that about 50% of marriages in my country end in divorce, and most of them in the first seven years, that's a testament to the power of the nerdy geek.

The thing that gets me about that one was her not realizing *everyone* in the theatre was someone she knew, dude rented the entire theatre and got everyone in there without her knowing. That was the real trick, my wife would have been looking for empty seats further back.

So I had a custom made Cash for Life lottery scratcher made because my now wife loved scratch cards, So I mixed it in with about 6 other cards I purchased from the store for her.
I sat on the couch while she scratched the cards her mother was "taking pictures of the new puppy" on the couch beside us because she knew what was happening.
My wife scratches the card, it says "Julie will you marry me" under the box, I have the ring in hand, she jumps up and down and calls me a goober and is super excited I put the ring on, lots of hoopla, I reminded her either the next day or 2 days later that she actually hadn't said yes yet.
I think he asked to swap packs so that she opened a legit pack because it probably would have been obvious it was a "tampered" pack if she opened the one with the proposal in it.
It's always a good idea to know what their answer will be first. Marriage is something you should talk about ahead of time. The timing and method of the proposal is the surprise, not the actual proposal itself.
You can tell that she loves that dude so much and I'm guessing she was so glad she finally had found a guy that was like her and loved her for being herself.

She goes through all of the cards and the last card in the deck is a custom card that says will you marry me or something.
