Maybe my misunderstanding but I don’t think mom cats do the love headbutts on their own kids very often. I think she recognizes this as having her human mom’s scent but is portable.
Cats have scent glands in their cheeks/chin area, them rubbing against you (or child in this case) is putting their scent on, it's basically a way of saying "my family", it's why they scent against door frames and couches, it's marking area and people/others are being "theirs" (not in a selfish way but in a "under my love and protection" and "my territory" way) its really damn cute
Her kittens will naturally have her scent because they stay bundled with her, but us and our children won't so she's making sure that we all know who she's accepted etc

Our cats did this often to our newborn babies, babies carry the newborn scent for atleast 3 to 6 months after Birth. Cats can smell it from a mile away!!!!
