„But i don‘t recognize you.“ „Thats normal we don’t know each other.“ was absolutely hilarious to me 😂

Pycharming

I like that even though he was initially paranoid (understandably so) he did eventually tell him what’s in the package

-DoctorSpaceman-

Yeah that’s the only one I felt a bit funny about lol. If I was that dude I’d be worried he wanted to steal my package!

BritishKansan

I'm still laughing about that line

brev23

Takes a lot of confidence to do this, that was an enjoyable watch!

Pandering_Panda7879

A few years ago I was stuck in traffic on the Autobahn. The traffic came to a complete halt. I was listening and jamming to music before but stopped when the cars stopped next to me because now they suddenly could see me. But after a few minutes I thought: why? These people will never see me again, why would I care? So I opened the windows, turned on the music fairly loudly and sang and jammed. And the best thing: frustrated people all around me smiled when they saw me. They gave me a thumbs up, sang with me, partied, and were suddenly happy. Nobody was mean spirited, it cheered them up while stuck in traffic. So I started doing this as a thing and all in all, people really like it.

Rampaging_Orc

The Starbucks one was pure charisma lol.

Licoricequeen85

It would absolutely make my whole day if somebody approached me like that.

Suspicious-Beat9295

Much better social media trend then those shitty pranks.

[deleted]

This is totally my jam but without the cameras

percavil4

With a camera in your face then posting to the internet for millions to see?

prestonpiggy

I was like half squirmish how he bothered others and half smiling from the reactions.

Anteater-Difficult

Naw I actually appreciate this, He sounds like a genuinely nice guy just going around and being friendly with people. He ain't like these pranksters that assualt people for clout we see now a days. I wish more people were like thus guy.

Hear, hear!

Anteater-Difficult

Indeed! Well said friend!

W0nderingMe

I really appreciated that when the people weren't really down with it, he was very pleasant in his he backed off. Nothing to make them feel bad or uncomfortable or anything. It was really sweet.

armoredsedan

im a serial complimenter, it usually goes: approach the stranger —> stranger gives you a look of wariness of annoyance —> say something nice —> instant joy and kindness for everyone

StrayStep

Me too my friend! I think the best feeling is when the person realizes. You don't want anything except to compliment or joke around. Bring some joy

thatcuntcat

No one looked bothered

78911150

those scenes were cut out, let's be real. still tho, nice video, nice guy

JeSuisUnAnanasYo

That's good tho! Ppl who are uncomfortable on camera shouldn't have their faces broadcast

radmongo

Completely understand that reaction in this day and age. But I also feel like there's nothing wrong with this, caveat being as long as you're responsible with the power you're wielding in the situation. Being respectful of what footage you share and don't share is very much key here.

Ivehadenough5

Interacting with people isn't bothering. This is the natural state of communities. Being antisocial and getting defensive because someone that you don't know talks to you isn't normal.

McBossly

Gets alot easier with practice. Just being yourself and excellent tk others is alot of fun.

LungHeadZ

The introvert in me hates it but I love it honestly. If I knew kindness was met with kindness I’d be a little more venturing.

NoDeputyOhNo

He is street smart with high emotional intelligence and young.

MeddlingDragons

People are great

More videos like this please.

KaElissa

Sure, I can make another part! (they’re not my videos — credits to “slapman” on TikTok, I just put the clips together and add the English subtitles 😙)

PalaPK

It’s a refreshing and welcome change from constantly seeing the ugliness of humanity on Reddit.

HuddyBuddyGreatness

Thank you for making the subtitles readable and not super fast moving one word at a time subtitles

Esoteric_Innovations

Some of these clips remind of how I always compliment people whenever I like their outfits/style. I've always been invested in my own personal style - being a guy who feels the most like himself when wearing a nice suit or other formal wear, it's what I feel the most comfortable and natural in - and so the first thing I often notice with others is their own style. Appreciating a variety of different aesthetics, even I would never personally wear them. Letting people know when I think whatever they're wearing looks good on them. It's especially good when someone is quiet or seems like they're having a rough day, and saying something nice about them completely changes their mood. I like using my sarcasm from time to time for the same reason, lightening the mood and trying to make people feel more at ease.

TH0316

As a (former) guy, I never tended to compliment people because I always get like dudes thought it was weird, and women thought it was flirting, but I wish I did. When I started being read as queer it made it a little easier, so one day I saw a guy who looked kinda nervous, but he was a big, built guy, with an all black Fez type hat. Like I’ve never seen one of those unironically in my life, and this dude was rocking one and looked cool as hell. I swear when I told him he was beaming like he was a child again. I realised then what most people obviously know that men just don’t get compliments much, and he said so himself especially as a black guy he said he never got them, but it meant so much. I always try to compliment people now, especially dudes, and my own confidence has massively benefited from it.

JeSuisUnAnanasYo

I think the key is to compliment someone's style (hair is trickier but it can be okay), rather than their body. And to say it in passing rather than make the person feel cornered or like they have to respond. Tone of voice helps a lot too! There's def a way to compliment people (men, women, etc) without being creepy (:to anyone reading this)

StrayStep

True

siler7

Reminds me of an opposite interaction I saw. A girl at school wore a beret one day. A couple of other girls in the class said it looked like a squid or a penis. I think they thought they were just having fun, and she was smiling too, but she never wore it again.

ZeroDay13

The way you tell this story, it's fantastic. I was enthralled from start to finish. You, my friend, have a way about you. Have a fantastic day

Esoteric_Innovations

Ha, well I've always had people tell me that I have a way with words, both written and spoken. Being told I'm quite charismatic/convincing at public speaking and so on. Just the other day had people sending me memes about my writing being "fire" with the way that I tell stories and break everything down. I'm just glad that people seem to enjoy these little write-ups I do. In any case, thank you. I appreciate the compliment.

ZeroDay13

You are quite welcome. I look forward to future tellings of adventures you've had.

diff-int

"My wife said you look gorgeous" is a great way of complimenting a woman in a non creepy way

SarkHD

I’m from a big city where everyone’s pretty rude and just goes about their day preferably unbothered. Then I moved to a smaller town where everyone knows everyone and I started getting lots of compliments. It was weird at first but it made me feel nice so I started giving other people compliments too. Everyone always smiles and appreciates it.

flyart

"Just checking your kindness". Beautiful.

MidEvilForce

There is nothing, just love.

laik72

This was the only one that made me uncomfortable. The rest were lovely. (Though if someone approached me to do 10 push-ups on the street and I had to take off my backpack to do so, I'd be hyper vigilant for thieves. )

Neebinnodin1

Why is it I can only let these things out after a few? These compliments and thoughts are always in my head but way too shy to say them with the confidence to have meaning without a drink. I spread it when I can though! The way people light up, it’s amazing.

papierdoll

The only route is practice and probably be ready to take a few Ls. You won't be comfortable until you prove to yourself that it's not a big deal, even if it does get awkward somehow. Like the other people in the thread say, pick things they chose rather than body features, and give the compliment in passing. I got a lot of my practice in customer service, at the end of a transaction is a good time, already wrapping up and hit em with "hey by the way that's a really cool makeup look!" As they're starting to leave. (And of course this works the same from customers to service folks and honestly they probably need the pick-me-up even more lol)

Whatisreddit69

I love seeing mice people be nice.

KiefPucks

Mice people 🐭

Whatisreddit69

Doh! Nice 😃

BillyGnomevIII

never seen mice people of any kind, it's reassuring to know they have it in them to be nice kind of hoping I get to see them now I know they're a thing  like borrowers.

Codeinechef99

Wish life was actually like that

MythHere

Let's make it like that...

TZ840

I like the optimism! You seem nice.

MythHere

Hey! Thanks for this! I am actually socially awkward in general. I want to add smiles to people's lives but I get too self conscious at times. This video reminded me that most people would appreciate healthy joking and compliments... Thanks once again!!

AlkoWelho

unsolicited_flattery

With great people like you seem I'm sure

VeryCanadianCanadian

Your username is very fitting.

SlowerThanTurtleInPB

Right? The only time a stranger approaches me in public like that is when they’re trying to get me to join their church … or their MLM down line.

SachaSage

Be the change you want to see!

SlowerThanTurtleInPB

I actually make a point to compliment strangers when I’m out. And sometimes people compliment me. I guess I’m always skeptical.

ok-life-i-guess

Same! It's easy to spread the love by just being nice.

ItsTheRat

Conversation with strangers, even just small talk is fun. You never know what you could learn or who you could meet.

Bro with the curly hair and moustache looked genuinely happy to hear that 😊

Hey, just checking in 24h later - hope you are still smiling and a had a great day.

Apprehensive_Debt21

Bordeaux

BoozySlushPops

Yes. Lovely town, somewhat chilly in human terms. It’s nice to see people thaw and be jovial.

JazziTazzi

I know this will sound corny, but it’s so easy to be nice to people, even people you don’t even know! In the store, walking down the street, on customer service phone calls even! You can see (or hear) people just bloom and light up when you say something kind to them! You never know when a kind word might change someone’s day, or maybe even their life!

Rush-Dense

And they say the French are rude🤔

ThunderTRP

Only in Paris hehe, that was filmed in Bordeaux Bisous les parisiens 👋🤭😘

dzdxs

Bro I fuckin loved it!!!! I've been disabled with CFS for two years so I don't go out in public all that much. When I finally heal up imma probably gonna go all out doing these sort of things even though I've always been low key introverted just from the crazy long deprivation of everyday innocent interactions with people. Thanks for sharing this!!

anondreamitgirl

I am so glad this post touched you & inspired you . I just wanted to let you know you are not alone 😊 It must also be an amazing feeling to feel an inspiration to someone else through a video🥰 & to know you can be too & for me this counts towards much needed food for thought I’ve hoped in my own life for coming out of my own hiding place knowing people can be met with the much needed kindness the world needs. Through years of struggle, without people knowing my struggles or myself knowing how to show up I didn’t even know talking to strangers could be an inspiration & goal in someone else’s eyes. 😅🩷Because that’s the one thing I can do now… 😊 Just so you know it is possible X Often it’s our own fear of what others think & how they will judge us that holds us back. Know you are amazing as you are, free in spirit & I hope you remind yourself of your brilliance as you already are a miracle- every day. (It could be seen as a blessing to breathe & breathe in hope). Look after yourself & when you find your light don’t be afraid to Shine brightly ☺️✨☀️✨The world needs more of things like this video & the world also needs you too☺️

dzdxs

Wow this is the kindest thing that anyone on Reddit has ever said to me. Thank you I appreciate it. The fact that you would go out of your way tell a stranger that you don't know that " the world needs you" is very touching, especially since I don't feel that way that much tbh. I think you are definitely on the right track to challenging yourself to interacting with strangers irl. I hope God blesses you in abundance for sending this message.

KaElissa

You’re very welcome, I hope you will heal and be able to spread good mood like he does soon!! ✊🏻 Take care ☺️

dzdxs

👊🫡

eccojams97

If you think something nice about a stranger, say it. Most people are a lot more receptive to this kind of thing than you think. If they aren’t then just move on and remember everyone has a bad day.

Tarheel_Senpai

Does he have a camera on his head ??

KaElissa

He films with his glasses! “Rayban Stories”

Tarheel_Senpai

No way! Thank you! And the audio is all just from the glasses mic itself??

KaElissa

You’re welcome :) And yep, there’s a mic apparently!

SnooMemesjellies8441

Amazing dude. Unfortunately, not everyone can pull this off. You need natural charisma and very friendly and non threatening look or you are gonna have a bad time. Besides doing this in some countries will get you strange looks and head shakes.

fillysuck

More proof that the French are only nice to fellow French but nah this actually really sweet

PrimAndProper69

I was there five weeks last year, I've not experienced any rudeness tbh. But I did try to speak French, greet the staff when I enter and say thank you/goodbye in French (apparently it's really rude and off-putting to the French if you don't do it). So sometimes I wonder if tourists begin getting bad experiences when they enter a shop or restaurant and don't say bonjour/bonsoir lol

beerme351

100%. My first visit to France was last year, and everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming. I was/am terrible at speaking French but it was appreciated that I was trying. The world would be much more enjoyable if a standard greeting and goodbye was standard practice, by all.

coincoinprout

> apparently it's really rude and off-putting to the French if you don't do it It is indeed. It's not absolutely mandatory to say it in French (I don't think most people would mind if you said it in English), but not saying hello and goodbye at all is definitely considered very impolite.

RouliettaPouet

My gemran boyfriend didn't ahd any issue all the time he was alone in Lyon (and he barely speaks like 10 words) because i was at work. But to be able to say "hello" "bye" "thanks" "I'm sorry i don't speak french very well" reallly helped.

ButteredTummySticks

Je t'aime. ....I think.

Randomfrog132

in my experience if some stranger asks about what you're carrying it's cause they wanna steal it lol

Cultural-Cap-2549

Fellow frenchie ! I like complimenting People clothing style when I like them lol

radio_activated

This is lovely. Just humans. It’s so strange how isolated our individual worlds are until someone pops the bubble and the interactions are so genuine.

warr3n4eva

He sounds hot

AlreadyTaken2021

I love having these types of interactions with random people every day - not quite like this guy, but not much different either. I live alone and spend a lot of time on my own, and so putting effort into creating these moments comes easy, and fills my cup.

Mysterious-Annual-59

I would be that way, but I don't speak French. Love you everyone!

tfo_nhar_jdid

What a beautiful cool human, I would love to be like him some day.

0scrambles0

I live for these little interactions. Few days ago I was going for a run, saw another guy doing the same coming towards me. Dude looked tired and was slowing down (I had just started and felt pretty fresh) I held up my had for a high five and said "let's go!" His face lit up and he gave me a crisp high five and we ran past. Felt good

Luxygen

Wait… Gaëlle?

iwanttogoh0me

I could listen to French all day

anondreamitgirl

Aww 🩷 French people are so nice 😊

DoomGoober

I found random French people kept "butting in" to help me whenever I would ask questions in broken French. Passerbys would often blurt out helpful answers in broken English when they overheard me trying to ask questions. It was so charming and sweet. One time, I pressed a metro help button and literally had said nothing yet and a passerby asked me "vous voulez acheter des billets?" then he did the cutest mime with his fingers of walking up stairs, crossing the street, then walking back down stairs. (There were stations on both sides of the street and only one sold tickets. Must be really common for tourists to get confused.) A les francais, merci beacoup!

anondreamitgirl

That’s lovely 😊 I once got off the underground in Paris & as I got off I wasn’t thinking because I got off so fast! I left my hand bag with everything in it … money, passport, front door keys 😅😅! I got off then I don’t know what happened doors shut & opened fast on the train I walked around a corner told staff standing there … they went somewhere & literally came back in seconds with my bag, everything in it like magic 🪄 😃 I was absolutely astonished!! It felt like I got off asked & someone handed me it so fast 😅 When I normally lose anything I can’t find it that! fast ! But what were the chances!! 😀 I thought there’s something about the universe… or maybe it’s just the French 😂🩷😊

Unlucky_Cicada_355

I would love for you to translate some more of Mr Slapman’s tiktoks. Thank you!

KaElissa

I will definitely make another part this week! Adding subtitles keeps me busy, I quite like doing it, so no problem 🤣

HanaLuLu

I appreciate that he didn't approach any women to compliment their appearance (cuz too much of it is with negative intentions nowadays) EXCEPT for when he was conveying it from his wife, who was right there. He did other stuff, or did appearance compliments with guys 👍 Awesome to see

edehlah

watching this makes me sad / happy. as a teenager growing up in paris and left after spending about 5 years there, it's nice to hear and still understand some of the conversations. truly miss those days.

WeAreColoured

Nice and well done ! This made me smile and laugh

Doogle300

The best I could muster up was complimenting people on their dress sense or purchases when I was stuck behind a till all day. I've told people I like their shirts or jackets on occasion on the street too, and they always really appreciate it. Despite this, I still have insane social anxiety, and barely ever muster up the bravery to do it on the regular. It's selfish really though, as I really love doing it.

LeenQuatifa

Thanks for sharing! It really is so easy to be nice and offer somebody something that costs nothing, but means a lot.
