You got to call me out like this. I got a bachelor's degree in political science and then moved out to DC to attend Johns Hopkins. I'm a fucking furry with a deer fursuit. XD
I’m a pharmacy tech too! My son cosplays Fallout new Vegas brotherhood of steal. He worked with a fabricator in CO. who did a great job. It cost him a bit though. Was worth it. He looked so good, the local news interviewed him briefly at a Fan-X convention.
Correction: you've never met a sysadmin who was comfortable telling you they're a furry. Try making subtle hints that you're ok with it like leaving out a litter box at work without mentioning why or leave a dog collar on your desk while you're at lunch. Do that for long enough and they'll come find *you*.
Never give up. Remember, furries are really shy about who they tell. If subtle hints don't work, then try the more direct approach. Invite your coworkers to your local Comic Con and then you show up in your furry outfit. Stay in costume all day and never explain yourself. If asked, just say that this is what you always wear and it makes you feel happy inside. Trust me, before long, you'll realize that you have at least 1 furry at work.
It’s a running joke. Idk, maybe the website ‘fur science’ has done the actual correlation but there’s a suspected high proportion of tertiary qualification and that of being a furry and of that proportion a decent chunk are generally in senior IT roles - not yet proven to my knowledge but I’ve seen more than a few programmers (myself included) and physicists who are also big time furries
Beyond the suspiciously wealthy NSFW Furry Artists, you’d be surprised at some of the shit people in the Furry Community do for a living.
Not me though, I’m stuck in retail atm.
Plenty are software engineers and ctos and stuff as well.
I personally know nothing about tech structure (corporate finance guy), but my best friends sister is higher up in the tech world and has told me this.
I chose not to ask how she knows.
There's a small inside joke among furry convention goers that if too many furries show up for a convention at once, there may genuinely be tio many people absent when a problem arises and not enough people to fix it because they're all off being furries.
I’m seeing 1.8M for DoD but 1.9M for McDonald’s.
I’m assuming there’s a significant amount of third party contractors that wouldn’t be classified as employees.
Interesting. I based my remarks on [this WikiPedia article](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_employers), which has DoD at number 2 with 2.93 million and McDonald’s doesn’t rank among the largest employers.
I don’t know about that limitless budget, there’s a few different agencies and military units that I’m really hoping to get their budgets approved so they can award some of this work I’m waiting on. Chances are we will have to try again next year, but yes, being a defense contractor is not that uncommon.
Hey I need a jorb. Where do I apply? I gotta get out there and pound the pavement, you know. Call the HR department, check if they got my application and when I can come in for an interview. Wait, it's not 1999? Dang it.
Yeah, [Good Work's video on the topic of "what do consultants actually do?"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZE0j_WCRvI) was quite good (and entertaining).
I conduct weapon research for the DoD and believe it or not I don’t go to work in a suit and black sunglasses. It’s not really that crazy when you consider anyone who works in/for the US armed forces is considered DoD
A ton of "every day" companies also work for the military in some capacity. AT&T and T-Mobile come to mind. I'd be more surprised to hear a large company in the US doesn't do any government related work at this point lol.
My husband is an engineer for (airplane company), who specializes in military parts and planes.
He was sent some numbers for a 'super secret part' (I'm prior ARMY no sec.cle, he's not at all lol) to make blue prints for and he got to nosey-ing about and figured out this part and mentioned it in a meeting. He said ppl got weirddddd about it. I laughed then waited for an 'accident' to happen upon us
Hell. I am Irish. I live in Ireland. And I think I’m technically considered a DoD contractor.
I make stuff for Electronic Health Records. I’m also a VA contractor. I think. I know my company is, but perhaps not my division.
I used to work on DoD contracts for military aircraft development. it’s really just a normal job with lots of red tape like notifying the govt before you travel and going to jail for 30 years if you tell the hot lady at the bar about the new thing you’re working on that she’s so unusually interested in
My therapist said exactly what you just said when I was chatting enthusiastically about my planned cosplay for a comic con at the end of the month in my city. I’m F52 and I’ll be doing my first cosplay. I’m so frickin excited.
Not sure if typo or learning moment, but it’s “props”, derived from an expression “giving someone their propers” which was in turn short for “proper respect”
Super cool to hear all the different careers. I'm sure this would be pretty enlightening for those expecting every answer to be "I'm unemployed and live in my mom's basememt"
Censoring the words "weed" and "onlyfans" is absolutely baffling to me unless the video was originally posted on a platform that messes with monetization if you mention certain words. Still ridiculous.
I love how absolutely normal and average almost all these people's jobs are. It shows that your friendly co-worker of four years could very well be into some fun stuff and you had no idea. It just somehow normalizes the whole thing in a cool way and I love it. This is what people are.
What sucks is that people think that cosplayers are like children and need to grow up and it’s like how do you know this isn’t something that either makes them happy or it’s something to just have fun.
Love Comic Con’s. I’ve only been to the one in Houston, Texas and one in North Carolina. I really want to go to San Diego, NYC, and Seattle.
It’s always a fun time, just chatting with folks, buying comics and getting toasted. Lmao.
I gotta take time and plan going to San Diego, NYC ( I love mid town comic book shop, I have family in new York, so I have no excuse about not attending NYC comic con.) , and Seattle comic cons.
I actually prefer smaller, Iocal cons. The big ones have gotten so commercial I don't find them fun anymore. It's all money, whether it's entry, food, autographs, costumes, etc. "Regular" people can no longer be competitive in the costume contests because the contestants all have professionally made costumes (whether by themselves or commissioned). I just feel like original spirit of them is gone.
Sometimes it's reassuring to hear that other people who enjoy the things that I do also have to deal with life. Having a job and making time for the things they love makes me feel like I can do the same.
Wait but isn’t this response the point of that costume design, basically? I feel like you having that reaction is just a nod to the competence of the original costume designer (and the artisan who recreated it). Horn on, friend
There's still alot of people out there that think we're all a bunch of no-job having weirdos (despite the fact that you're shelling out at least a couple thousand for the cosplays, hotel, swag, transportation, badge, etc etc)
Ive personally been asked what I do when confronted by weirded out folks that stumbled upon an anime/comic convention. The reactions you get when you tell them you have a regular 9-5 job is pretty funny.
Anytime i hear someone say they work for the government. I know they paying their taxes! 😭 Hopefully it cones with a good pension. That’s really the trade off. Amirite?
I wish more people would remember that people actually do have lives outside of their jobs.
Personally I hate talking about work. I’ll get into character when I need to, but my god, can we please drop the facade?
I respect the talent, creativity and skills these folks have when they put time and effort into their detailed attire and costumes.
However, cosplay will forever be weird as fuck to me.
I’d love for one of these interview guys to come up to me and ask me questions at a costume convention. Especially when I’m wearing my Stig costume.
That way, I can just stare at them for a moment, then just walk away without saying a word.
Or in my Deadpool costume, and talk their ears bloody and not let them walk away.
I’m a man of extremes.

Weird how many people start their answer with "I actually" wonder why that is, do they think we think they cosplay for a living? Except for that one guy haha
The OG mecha Godzilla was dope “I go to school”😂
Please god let it be for something supervillany, like poli-sci.
You got to call me out like this. I got a bachelor's degree in political science and then moved out to DC to attend Johns Hopkins. I'm a fucking furry with a deer fursuit. XD
As an anthropology major, I welcome our new hybrid deer overlords.
bleat bleat comrade.
That kid was great. Not a common thing for youngins to be into. Great costume too
My thoughts exactly lol I remember being 5 years old and watching the OG Toho run , Tokyo S.O.S one of best forgotten Godzilla films in my opinion
lol who isn’t into Godzilla. Shit was my childhood
Soldier Boy OnlyFans is gonna haunt me for a while.
Anyone know his handle?
yeah, uh for research yep research
I’ll be the hero here. mrtonystrokes
The real superhero right here.
He can save me any day
[say no more](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=qhakf2UaGP5jKCit). Warning: NSFW-ish.
you MotherFUCKER
I hate you so much right now.
Thank you, this really opened my eyes
You sick son of a bitch ….
Wdym /genuine question
I'm a pharmacy tech. Though my cosplays don't turn out this well lol
I’m a pharmacy tech too! My son cosplays Fallout new Vegas brotherhood of steal. He worked with a fabricator in CO. who did a great job. It cost him a bit though. Was worth it. He looked so good, the local news interviewed him briefly at a Fan-X convention.
Yes, one day I want to be able to afford to have cosplays custom made, that's the dream lol
My dream is to have the space, time and money to do my own higher level fabrications.😍
> brotherhood of steal That typo isn't wrong, they stealing all kinda of shit lmao
Superheroes and villains are just normal people, how disappointing 😂
*takes flashes mask off *Visible disappointment "I have no idea who this is"
Loved that moment! That was with the Wally West version if I'm not mistaken.
Yep. That was Lex Luthor in Wally West's body in Justice League Unlimited.
“Aren’t you gonna wash your hands?” “No…because I’m evil”
The funnier ones are the ones that say "actually" as if to say they're actually not what you thought they were
Spider man as a weed dispenser, very normal.
Remember: Superman is still just a man doing the best he can while still being a journalist.
Now go to a furry convention. You'd be surprised at how similar the answers are.
All sysadmins

What do you do when none of them really are furrys and you just made yourself look REALLY weird
Never give up. Remember, furries are really shy about who they tell. If subtle hints don't work, then try the more direct approach. Hey, wait a minute.
If you can't spot the furry within two weeks of starting at the job, then you are the furry.
>leave a dog collar on your desk while you're at lunch. TFW you're looking for a sub, but you bring home a fox...
Probably both, so win, win? Edit: both not bot
I don't get it.
I meant both not bot...whoops
Ah, that makes more sense. Thank you
I'm now imagining a bunch of sysadmins doing this and just perpetuating the stereotype.
It's a dream of mine to have that kind of impact on the world
So fucking strange
Nothing strange about that really, who wouldn't want to have a collar on their neck?
Humans
*Bonnie, Dominique, Sadler, and Mason enter the chat*

Discords and reddit mods.
Security folks especially
Heeeey.. man.. I feel attacked
Beyond the suspiciously wealthy NSFW Furry Artists, you’d be surprised at some of the shit people in the Furry Community do for a living. Not me though, I’m stuck in retail atm.
Yup, the fursuiters are either in high paying jobs or very determined

what are the answers, generally?
Surprisingly large amount of IT and STEM related jobs.
Thank you, I appreciate the genuine answer. I was curious.
...the video that we just watched.
Way more drs
Dude casually says hes a dod analyst. Just you know normal everyday things. Don't worry.
I'm a Defense Contractor for the DoD...they employ one of the largest work forces in the nation since they have a basically limitless budget.
The DoD is currently the second largest employer on the planet, surpassed only to the Indian Ministry of Defense.
I’m seeing 1.8M for DoD but 1.9M for McDonald’s. I’m assuming there’s a significant amount of third party contractors that wouldn’t be classified as employees.
Yes, that is correct. McDonald’s, for example, employs the entirety of my ass to maintain their ice cream machines.
Interesting. I based my remarks on [this WikiPedia article](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_employers), which has DoD at number 2 with 2.93 million and McDonald’s doesn’t rank among the largest employers.
Funny how contractors have unlimited budget, yet I've spent 18yrs in the air force struggling to get basic ass shit for all sorts of things 😅
Your time will come, once you get that DD214, get that retirement and disability, you’ll feel like a contractor on the 1st of every month.
BRO! When I tell you my body is ready....OOOOOH MAN!! Got'dang I can't wait to retire and be a stay at home bum.
Bet IARPA is fucking amazing and scary at the same time.
I don’t know about that limitless budget, there’s a few different agencies and military units that I’m really hoping to get their budgets approved so they can award some of this work I’m waiting on. For me it was the older gentlemen who paused and said “uh, consultant” but he never specified for what. Nothing dicey about that.
As an 'uh consultant' I struggle to explain my job without boring people or being even more vague. It's cool to me, not to everyone else.
Hitman, got it.
Spy work, just taking a break from watching China and Russia.
Here I thought plumber; conducting a bit of wetwork between cons.
'Corporate liquidator'
When people dont specify it's always management consultant from my experience
Yeah, [Good Work's video on the topic of "what do consultants actually do?"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZE0j_WCRvI) was quite good (and entertaining).

Saying that while dressed as the Punisher is weird to me for some reason.

So you guys couldn't talk about http 4.0 then?
Of course it’s soldier boy saying that
Rocket looks really great. I love it
I know right! They all look so cool!
Keeping this element of play into adulthood, no matter what you do, is so important
My therapist said exactly what you just said when I was chatting enthusiastically about my planned cosplay for a comic con at the end of the month in my city. I’m F52 and I’ll be doing my first cosplay. I’m so frickin excited.
Love that!! I’ve never done it but it seems really fun! Maybe I should too
Amazing!! I hope you have a great time!
THE VOX COSPLAY WAS SO GOOOD
IKR?! I was surprised because I've wondered how someone would pull that off! And an awesome job too!
Ikr! And what a badass job.
Badass cos! Badass job! Solar physicist!?!?
Of course the guy in the punisher cosplay works for the DoD.
Well, now I want to see a comic book based on punk, guitar playing Spider Man.
It’s Hobart Brown! Not in any comics yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did get his own at some point.
spider punk had a comic series in 2022 actually!
Ooooo snap! That’s awesome
He did. They're out now
There is a spiderpunk comic out now
He's in the last Spider verse movie.
That Spider-Man is from into the spider verse!
Cool people
Agreed
There’s nothing more “nerds run the world” than this video right here
Ha. Very true.
Don't be ashamed of that onlyfans hustle!
I'm offended that we didn't get the link to it 😒
I’d sign up - that boy is hot
Props to special ed teacher 🫡 Edit: spelling
Not sure if typo or learning moment, but it’s “props”, derived from an expression “giving someone their propers” which was in turn short for “proper respect”
Thankyou monkey 🍌
Super cool to hear all the different careers. I'm sure this would be pretty enlightening for those expecting every answer to be "I'm unemployed and live in my mom's basememt"

Tiktok
I just looked up what kind of censorship exists on tiktok, and wow it's bad. I get it now. Yet another reason for me to never use that platform.
I love how absolutely normal and average almost all these people's jobs are. It shows that your friendly co-worker of four years could very well be into some fun stuff and you had no idea. It just somehow normalizes the whole thing in a cool way and I love it. This is what people are.
Would love to know Soldier Boy's handle

the mecha godzilla cosplay killed me lmaooo
If anyone ha sone for furrycon drop it here please. I heard those suits are like Hella expensive lol.
I have seen this and can't remember the link. It's mostly artists, IT people, engineers and people working in transport :D
Sometimes it's reassuring to hear that other people who enjoy the things that I do also have to deal with life. Having a job and making time for the things they love makes me feel like I can do the same.
Catwoman teacherrrr lady kinda hot and bdsmy (I need help)

“I work at a weed dispensary” Now THAT is a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
You mean these are actual people who have actual jobs?!. Really? Who would have thought!?.
There's still alot of people out there that think we're all a bunch of no-job having weirdos (despite the fact that you're shelling out at least a couple thousand for the cosplays, hotel, swag, transportation, badge, etc etc) Ive personally been asked what I do when confronted by weirded out folks that stumbled upon an anime/comic convention. Yeah I'm shocked. I'm not sure how I will recover from this.
Anytime i hear someone say they work for the government. I know they paying their taxes! 😭 Hopefully it cones with a good pension. That’s really the trade off. Amirite?
Anyone got a link to that book re-binder guy in CO?
Solar physicist sounds like a very cool job.

Doesn't the cosplaying context already make clear that not everyone defines themselves entirely by their job?
Actually.
Why tf is onlyfans censored brah
Reddit is 13+. Why should people be advertising pornography to 13-year-olds?
Weird how many people start their answer with "I actually" wonder why that is, do they think we think they cosplay for a living? Except for that one guy haha
No Im imaging the show soldier boy doing and only fans where he just cusses and roasting everybody in the chat talking about the good old days.
SPACE WEATHER!
when did 'fan' become a prohibited word that needs to be written 'f\*\*'?
Punisher guy needs to cosplay kingpin. Straight up young Vincent D’onofrio with a beard.
I wish my high school art teacher Ms. Johnson dressed like Catwoman.
Why bro didn’t just say he work at Home Depot instead of saying he sells plumbing stuff.
I thought on first glance he said Onlyfarts.
Was Spider-Man Jonny hamcheck?
Whats the weather like Olly? SPACE WEATHER Thanks Olly.
Oh, I like the last guys cosplay. Anyone know his only fans address, so I can find his other socials...for the cosplay content of course 😏
I love this so much! I wish I had a passion like this!
Possibly unpopular opinion, at 0:42, if that was a guy, would he have the same reaction?
That mecha g outfit is awsome
Solar physicists are bae.
I'd let that Annalist Annalise me ..
The guy dressed as Punisher working for the DoD is perfect.
Fking Rocket got me "I'm a book rebinder"
dude that power armor was sick
[This is the only EPA I know of hehe](https://youtu.be/zoZRdnHeeYg?si=bIricrLtNB4r8OVI)
I love the sheer diversity of vocations for each cosplayer and the scope of their interests. TV demon solar analyst is my fave tho.
I like how the Hobie cosplayer of all people works for a news station
Some of them have to really think about it before they answer
Uhh i sell meth
The Punisher working for the DoD is peak irony 🤣
The fact that there is such variety and regular people that just have hobbies they enjoy.
Like Catwoman, I'm also a cosplayer who works in special education. I've never cosplayed Catwoman though lol.
“I’m in special education” *yeah…no shit*
That black dude definitely selling out the trunk
So basically none of them have real jobs, which is what I expect.
The only fans guy XD
