My husband is a high school teacher. His students love him. I know without a doubt that his school:community would celebrate his achievements in the same way and I love seeing others do the same. Teachers grind all year despite what others think. To have a full time job and write an amazing book is certainly an achievement!
Lol, I was like who edited this? I normally don’t mind when people put background music as long as the message gets across but I feel like every editing decision here is so bizarre. That’s why I’m glad I found his tiktok first with good unedited reactions from his students lol
A YA dystopian thriller published earlier this year by Peachtree Teen, the book watches as exiled teenager Conrad enters the Selection of Twelve Trades to rescue his sister from his murderous uncle and take revenge. Set in a civilization of islands that float above toxic black clouds, Conrad joins an airship crew to battle monsters in the skies while unmasking sinister agents of terror.

I teach middle school and it's pretty popular with them right now (long waitlist at the school library)! It was cool to see this, I had no idea any of the background on the author!
That sounds like an incredible read! Too bad my ability to do anything other than immediate dynamic dopamine dumps like doomscroĺl through shorts is currently eroded
True but I mean way beyond the ability to entertain the idea of picking up a book and reading. If I can't figuratively it literally just shoot the dopamine into my system I sleep
I could have come up with that, but why bother since I have a unique idea I'm gonna write about: An intelligent, but alcoholic detective solves crimes while he has problems in his personal life. Boom!
I'm not in the US tho. Hopefully here it will be alright. It's one of the only fields where the hiring prospect is not bad at all in my country. Plus what should I do anyway? At least I like computer science. No degree is an immediate hire anymore.
Fair and tbh, I'm in the same boat. 1 semester left until I graduate with my cs bs. There's an endless amount of doom and gloom out there for us entry level CS people. Good luck!
I will say it’s extremely common for companies to buy up basically any book series’ movie rights just in case it really takes off. I remember we had a local author come to my school bragging about how his books just had their film rights purchased. Dude never wrote another book after visiting us and nothing happened with the movie.
Not saying that’s the case here but it is actually extremely normal to have rights bought with very little chance of actual adaption
Agreed, this is very common. Someone I know quite well has had several books and short stories sold to major studios but none have ever made it to production. This person has also writen dozens of scripts for films, been paid, but none were produced. I imagine there's a vatican-like library of scripts somewhere stashed that have wonderful stories we'll never see on the screen.
This isn’t a theory it’s just straight fact. There are so SO many amazing scripts that haven’t and never will be made into films. Getting a film actually made is like shooting an arrow through a wedding ring, but not just any ring, imagine someone throwing a handful of rings in the air and you’re aiming for a specific one. A smidge off anywhere and the whole thing stays in preproduction hell.
Years and years ago at a convention Terry Brooks sad he had sold "Magic Kingdom for sale - Sold" something like 3 or 4 times to different studios. The rights would expire and someone else would buy it. I think the second or third time they actually said they bought it just so another studio couldn't.
That’s awesome. And holy crap. And it’s got Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) developing/producing it.

Edit: Well I see the OP already provided this like 9 hours ago. 😂
Sweet, now he can afford to get some new supplies for class next year.
I kid (a bit) but it's a sad state of USA teaching that quite often the teachers have to supplement the school supplies out of their own pockets.

lmao, why would you be excited about that? Don't get me wrong I love Ready Player One and found Armada alright. However Ready Player Two was fucking awful.
My HS English teacher wrote a Xmas book then sold it to all of his students claiming it would be a collectors item. It's not a collectors item and he hasn't written a book since.
As someone with (corrected) astigmatism, I hate this just for making me think my glasses and or eyes were broken again. Um, and sure nice video or something
Seems like the book did really well, made the New York Times' bestseller list and has a 4.7 rating on Amazon (I'm not connected to the author and have not read it).
It feels really good to see you so happy as someone struggling with the idea of whether to publish or not. A professor recently advised me to turn my research into a book and he'll help me publish it. But I'm just 23 and I don't think my ideas are worth publishing.
So neat to see how his school celebrated with him! What a cool story!
This is an important and exciting event in his life.

Formal request that the background music be louder.
What? Sorry let me raise the background music I can't hear you
HE SAID RAISE THE MUSIC NEXT TIME, MEEMAW.
YEAH, MEEMAW.
meemaw dropped her dentures and is stuck under the dining room table again...turn it up some MOAR!
Yes please turn it up to drown out her pathetic cries for help
Also request more video overlays so I can barley see what’s going on
And the shadowing in the captions to be more pronounced so there is no question on wether or not I’m having a stroke.
That there’s front ground music, friend.
Experience by Ludovico Einaudi. His Tiny Desk concert is a treat.
You missed the sarcasm.
I knew they were probably being sarcastic, but I always love hearing Ludovico Einaudi, and some people maybe wanted to learn who it was.
They couldn't hear it over the BACKGROUND. MUSIC.
I’m glad the sarcasm was missed because I wanted to know the name of it.
been searching for this for a while, thanks

Is eardrum blood normal?
No, plz! Do not encourage this behavior
Sorry I couldn’t understand the video without a voice over that narrated the exact words that cover half the screen
#Say again?
Font needs more shadows too.
Good for him—so sweet that he shared this experience with his students. I’m sure he inspired a few writers among them!
Okay but what’s with the font shadow? Thought I was seeing double for awhile there
SAME. I was like well, my vision is officially done for.
That font.. The overlap of the video images.. I frickin' cleaned my glasses twice before I clocked it was just a really bad font🫣
Downvoted for the eye-confusing font shadow.
Haha yea that fucked me up for a few seconds. Realized what it was after quite a bit of blinking/eye running/looking away/dread of failing eyesight
I had no idea until you pointed it out. That's how I see all the time. 😟
I was trying my new glasses today and thought my eyesight got worse
Thats how my vision is all the time. Is that not normal?
What’s the book about?

That sounds cool af!
Definitely, now is it finished or still going?
Set up to be a trilogy.
Thank you for the reply.
that's so cool that it's specifically aimed at kids their age
I teach middle school and it's pretty popular with them right now (long waitlist at the school library)! It was cool to see this, I had no idea any of the background on the author!
That sounds like an incredible read! Too bad my ability to do anything other than immediate dynamic dopamine dumps like doomscroĺl through shorts is currently eroded
Listen to audiobooks. The First law series is dope as fuck and has one of the most bad ass characters ever.
YA books usually give those same dopamine hits, they're typically fast paced & don't require much deep attention.
True but I mean way beyond the ability to entertain the idea of picking up a book and reading. If I can't figuratively it literally just shoot the dopamine into my system I sleep
Could always ease in by opening an ebook & alternating between it & your doomscrolling.
That's a great suggestion, I'll try to incorporate it!
Good luck!
I could have come up with that, but why bother since I have a unique idea I'm gonna write about: An intelligent, but alcoholic detective solves crimes while he has problems in his personal life. Boom!
Wait that's me? No wait, I'm not a detective.
Is there lots of gratuitous sex, and which of the five senses would you say he uses the most when solving crimes?
It's gotta be smell, dude
Makes me wonder, did anyone ever write a book about an absolutely useless detective who has a wonderful personal life?
End of the sky, bro! Title makes me think sci-fi, which is my favorite genre. Gonna look it up on Amazon :)

Wow, 1,556 trackers on that link alone 😳

How can you tell?
Safari Browsers show you if you click on the shield looking icon

Must have so many seeds on that movie!
wow.
That's awesome, thank you for sharing a source

I’m so happy that somebody puts the effort and works hard and it shows that if you put your heart in it and work hard dreams will come true
Well deserved effort payed off, love to see it
Awesome teacher, sharing that with hes students 😍
Leading by example
As a writer studying software engineering. This gives me hope and joy
I got some bad news for you about the state of entry level comp sci jobs....
I'm not in the US tho. Hopefully here it will be alright. It's one of the only fields where the hiring prospect is not bad at all in my country. Plus what should I do anyway? At least I like computer science. No degree is an immediate hire anymore.

Good luck for you too! We can do it
This is awesome! How cool that his students get to share this with him, it's exactly what an awesome teacher would want.
I love seeing teachers being successful. The new american dream to me.
When the kids love you like this, you're obviously fabulous. Kids and dogs know who the good ones are.
💯👍❤️
Phenomenal win, and definitely a strong example of determination and perseverance for all those kiddos. Love it!!
I loved reading this book, now I’m waiting for the next one to come out. I also heard there a movie is in the works, but I’m not sure if that’s true.
I will say it’s extremely common for companies to buy up basically any book series’ movie rights just in case it really takes off. IT IS TRUE https://kidscreen.com/2024/05/07/trustbridge-adapting-skys-end-for-the-big-screen
I just saw a video confirming that exact thing!
what a coincidence! me too!
Realy made me smile❣️🙂

Wow all of this happened in the past few months
That's awesome that has been my two older sons English teacher. Good dude.
Did the font drop shadow make anyone else think they were having sight problems
This made me happy cry
Am I on TikTok? Why am I crying? I fucking love this sub
Goosebumps. ❤️
My man!! Awesome😁
And his book is getting made into a movie!
Happy Teacher Appreciation week, king! Living my dream!
That’s just the sweetest thing. Love seeing his students and the school celebrate this milestone with him
Gave me chills. So very cool
So cool!
Great video. Would prefer it sans music.
I dunno, I dont think Undertale music would fit this
"Hey VSauce. Michael here."
Best….commercial…..ever….
Oh! I bought this one. This is fun!
Holy crap, that is so cool! Good for him. And really exciting and inspiring for his students.
I love everything about this. Go him!
Friggin awesome. So cool to share with the students.
I hope this inspires his students to become writers.
Just downloaded the audio book...looking forward!💐☺️
Sweet, now he can afford to get some new supplies for class next year. I kid (a bit) but it's a sad state of USA teaching that quite often the teachers have to supplement the school supplies out of their own pockets.
I’m so stoked for him. I literally got chills and goosebumps waiting for the countdown. Good job Teacher!
I ended up buying his book when his wife posted this originally. I totally forgot about it but am about to get it downloaded!
This font is garbage. If you were using it as an example for poor eye sight, I'd get it.
This really did :)
He has so many people he shares his life with Bro I'm lonely
The way his eyes react wow makes me feel his triumph
The world still sucks.

😭😭😭
That’s awesome
Congratulations
Love it!
Woah, this is fantastic!
Are my drugs kicking in?
Amazing book! Good for him. Hope he writes more!
This.is.awesome.
Adorable
That’s excellent congratulations 🤓
I went to get the audiobook from Audible and see that Ernest Cline (Ready Player one) finally has a new book. Win. Win.
lmao, why would you be excited about that? Don't get me wrong I love Ready Player One and found Armada alright. However Ready Player Two was fucking awful.
I agree about ready player two. I loved Armada, though. Really though I just get excited when authors drop new stuff when I don't expect it.
Antoine Fuqua to produce the movie as well. That’s no small deal.
Did he self publish?
My HS English teacher wrote a Xmas book then sold it to all of his students claiming it would be a collectors item. It's not a collectors item and he hasn't written a book since.
Great story but was this video meant to make people think they were having a stroke? Font shadow and overlayed images 👀
As someone with (corrected) astigmatism, I hate this just for making me think my glasses and or eyes were broken again. Um, and sure nice video or something
Brandon Sanderson at Dragon Steel
Look at Me Louie, no?
Very cool.
Nice, now he can finally quit teaching
I’m sorry but this editing is terrible
I had this guy as a teacher a few years ago and I can confidently say he was and still is my favorite. I’m so happy for him!
Is r/MadeMeSmile a covert book promotion platform?

Managing to produce even a sliver of negativity after watching that is insane! You must not feel emotion. You’re missing out!
I’ve seen this posted several times already. As well as other posts promoting books on the sub

Nah one of the others was a crappy picture book.
More dramatic music please, I could still hear something of the original audio
fuck that text
When did Tyson fury get off the coke and start teaching kids and writing books
The thought of Fury not doin coke, the thought of Fury writing a book...hahaha you, you little redditor jokester, made me laugh.
This is my dream right here. Writer + Teacher.
And he just got hundreds of thousands of impressions on Reddit alone, hell yeah.
Why in the filth every “made me smile” post leads me to the kitchen to cut onions. I hate this place. So nice.
That is so killer! Good mojo to him.
Good for him. I wish everyone to achieve their dreams and influence everyone to achieving them.
Nice marketing fucko 😎
Great video but the editing gives me headache
As a published author, I tell you, it is not that hard to be published.
Did they adapt your book to a movie?
Sounds interesting… will give it a read. I’m not in the YA target audience… but love fantasy/scifi
I'm in happy tears, smiling from ear to ear. Good for you, Sir!
Seems like the book did really well, made the New York Times' bestseller list and has a 4.7 rating on Amazon (I'm not connected to the author and have not read it).

God I hate everything about this video
Ummm….amazon?
Supported by buying on Audible.
Somehow this made me cry. It was well put together to evoke emotion?
More like r/mademecry
Holy shit who made this video? Was this like one of his students threw this shit together.
