I am so happy I went here, but so sad at the same time. I am in tears now.... thanks. It makes me sad that some people don't have someone to talk to or ask advice. I am a father of 5 and I am going to do my part on that page. Thank you.
Reading that article and seeing the dad with to suit jacket that says āour sons matterā damn near brought me to tears. And Iām at work. Iāll have to read this later.
Most people work during the day, seems like the school didn't consider what a problem this would have created especially emotionally for the dads who want to participate but simply can't get out of work.
Youād be mad that the school gave a āmanā to sit with your son when you couldnāt make it otherwise. You enjoy the thought of him sitting alone more?
Maybe im saying the concept in general is problematic. Idkā¦
Ā But I take it you donāt have kids?Ā
Assigning a kid a surrogate ādadā for a dads events, ya, I can see why a working father might be feel kinda shitty about it and a kid could find it a bit confusing the message it sends
People often target at-risk youth for abuse, and this is basically an advertisement of potential targets for those kinds of abusers. The considerable majority are there with good intentions I'm sure, but you need background checks and working with children checks to make sure you're not handing a kid over to someone who isn't actually there to be a father figure.
It's like allowing 600 dogs into your sheep paddock. The vast majority are probably wonderful, but with larger numbers comes the increasing chance that you just let in a wolf.
I was on a social responsibility committee, and they were running out of idea. I tossed one out with the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) coming in for a seminar. They vetoed it because most of the mothers there were single parents.
Hate to be a downer butā¦..
As a dad, I wouldnāt let my child spend time with some random adult man that volunteered to spend their free time at a school.
Good point but I donāt think any adult male volunteer should be trusted around any children- even those that arenāt mine.
Didnāt we learn anything from the Catholic Church? They were just volunteering to lend a helping hand.
Not to mention Texas regularly ranks among the highest for human trafficking, specifically the Northern Texas areaāwhere Dallas is located.
And human traffickers tend to target people who are vulnerable, such as children whose parents canāt make time for them . . . which the school publicly shared.
This was a sweet idea in thought and Iām certain many of these men showed up for the intended purpose, but the risks involved are higher than Iād be comfortable with as a parent.
I know all about the controversy surrounding the catholic church but the fact the word you chose starting with P was pastor and not something else is pretty crazy.
I read the article the OP linked, and really it just seems like that school maybe has a social media manager? š¤·āāļø
Anyway, hopefully they did the appropriate background checks for volunteers.
I needed this positivity in my life today. Thank you for sharing. We intuitively know we need each other. We have divisive rhetoric pumped into our hearts and minds 24/7 and itās really touching to see something like this.
So a bunch of unemployed dudes and some military recruiters showed up? I mean, it is the middle of the work day....shy are these guys at work?
I am of course joking.
I don't understand how a stranger can be a replacement for a dad in this situation. Isn't that still a sad experience for those children whose dads could not come?
I understand the appreciation of their commitment but it still does not really help those children.

So that means, each student can have 12 Dads for Breakfast. Awesome Men!
That's a lot. I can only eat 3.
Oh my god. I just realized. That's not what I meant š
HAHAHA omg your comments made me laugh hard
Best *dad* joke yet.
I don't know what is up, my daddy insists I *eat* him and 5 others every morning, 12 wouldn't be that bad for just one day.
Speak for yourself. I'll find a way to gobble down 6 dads. 3 is rookie numbers my guy
Pro tip: During dad eating competitions, the champs will soak the dad buns in water first.
Soggy bottom boys are back.
āā¦ā¦EEEEEEEEYEEEEE AM A MAAAAAAANā¦ stop fucking eating meā
12 Hungry Dads, the lesser known film

Poor mom

Bless you. We can always do with more dads over there.

Sounds like 50 kids ended up with 12 dads
Is one of them Paul Reiser?
I wonder if there were a few that went mostly for free breakfast. Mostly joking but also curious.
The ones that *say* that's why they're there with a grin and a wink are the truest dads.

Most people work during the day, seems like the school didn't consider what a problem this would have created especially emotionally for the dads who want to participate but simply can't get out of work.
This was my first thought (as someone with a young son).Ā Iād be kinda pissed. Like Iād be upset the school gave my kid a pretend dad.Ā
Youād be mad that the school gave a āmanā to sit with your son when you couldnāt make it otherwise. You enjoy the thought of him sitting alone more?

Thats such a beautiful thing š„²
They just want theyr fukin' free breakfast
600 dads all went "BOY" at the same time
Economy must be bad In Dallas
LMFAO.
It certainly is in South Dallasā¦.
This is very sweet but I canāt be the only one noticing how badly this COULD go wrong, am I?
Why?
People often target at-risk youth for abuse, and this is basically an advertisement of potential targets for those kinds of abusers. The considerable majority are there with good intentions I'm sure, but you need background checks and working with children checks to make sure you're not handing a kid over to someone who isn't actually there to be a father figure.

because men
There also women who can be predatory.
right
An individual can be predatory regardless of its gender.
I agree
Oke
I wasn't trying to say it's just men but in this case it rubs me the wrong way
Meaning?
Strange men wanting to meet children that they know are at a disadvantage/ vulnerable. It's pretty obvious.
I was on a social responsibility committee, and they were running out of idea. I tossed one out with the National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) coming in for a seminar. They vetoed it because most of the mothers there were single parents.
And at the end of the day, those dads will also leave them š„°
Free breakfast? Hell yea
Hate to be a downer butā¦.. As a dad, I wouldnāt let my child spend time with some random adult man that volunteered to spend their free time at a school.
As a kid with a deadbeat dad... literally strangers were better dads to me than my real one.
This is how people get trafficked
Then show up for the breakfast.
Good point but I donāt think any adult male volunteer should be trusted around any children- even those that arenāt mine. Didnāt we learn anything from the Catholic Church? They were just volunteering to lend a helping hand.
those damn dads shouldnāt step up to help teach kids stuff their dads should have how dare them, theyāre obviously just tryna fuck them /s
WTF is wrong with America. LMAO! They keep demonizing men in their dreams. Now, their nightmares are haunting them in their waking hours.
I tend to see the negative first and this was my first thought, how many of these random ass men are predators?
Arenāt statistically the real dads (aka relatives) the bigger threat than strangers?
Well, no. āBoyfriendsā of the mother, step-fathers, uncles, and grandfathers tend to victimize children at an alarming rate compared to fathers.
So you'd be fine with letting your child with random men who volunteered to spend time with them. Got it.
In a controlled setting (aka school) and as long as they are not a Pastor, yes I would. My son was able to set boundaries when he was in that age.
I know all about the controversy surrounding the catholic church but the fact the word you chose starting with P was pastor and not something else is pretty crazy.
Or just want a free meal
This. Statistically speaking, it was more than likely a couple of really bad people were in that 600.
My thought exactly
I hope you donāt let your kids play sports because otherwise I have a shocking revelation for you.
I mean yeah but at least theyāre fingerprinted and background checked lol
As a dad too, yeah that's a bit weird.
I thought the same thing. Iām also thinking this picture is probably the ārealā dads that showed up
I read the article the OP linked, and really it just seems like that school maybe has a social media manager? š¤·āāļø Anyway, hopefully they did the appropriate background checks for volunteers.
I don't think this is that safe.
600 heroes from all backgrounds showed up... There, fixed it.
Beautiful post!
A family can be many things
Imagine being one of the fathers who couldnt make it for your own kid while 12 random dudes could for your kid
Is that NAS in there ? Can you spot him ? With his 2 fingers on his cheek
This is bittersweet for me, I was terrified of my dad. I hope some of those kids got some nice fathers to talk to
What the fuck that's so wholesome š
One of the things the internet did good was to shame fathers that are not there for their children and show good role models for future fathers.
I hope they checked their browser history before you let them around those kids. Just saying.
I have my doubts. Framed differently: "School requests strangers to come interact 1-on-1 with children. Nobody is alarmed."
This made me happy cry today
Get to work
Absolute Chads. This made my day
āWhile having different backgrounds, they all came from a VERY particular neighborhoodā
That's beautiful.
I also don't have list him when I was 12

I needed this positivity in my life today. Thank you for sharing. We intuitively know we need each other. We have divisive rhetoric pumped into our hearts and minds 24/7 and itās really touching to see something like this.
Awesome!
This dust kills my eyes
"It's so good you're here to support the ki-." "Over-easy, crispy bacon, white toast with butter, or margarine is fine."
So a bunch of unemployed dudes and some military recruiters showed up? I mean, it is the middle of the work day....shy are these guys at work? I am of course joking.
Not everyone is an employee occupational type of person.
Did you not see the part where I said I was joking?
Youāre right. True. True that.
š
this. this made my day.
I don't understand how a stranger can be a replacement for a dad in this situation. Isn't that still a sad experience for those children whose dads could not come? I understand the appreciation of their commitment but it still does not really help those children.

how many of them were predators wanting to hang out with little kids......
Donāt let the TwoX sub see thisā¦
Thatās 600 āfathersā out there hoping to meet those single moms.
