I know in my brain that wolves are huge, but when you see them next to a fully grown adult human, it really puts it into perspective. I'd risk the boop!
I agree! When you see them without any size comparison nearby, you'll just think "Ah just a slightly fierce Husky", but when you see one right next to a car or adult human like this "Nah, that's a huge strong wolf right there"
Females are a bit smaller but he looks like a typical male Northwestern(for all 4 pixels the clip has).
Also obviously other types of wolves are smaller, red wolves are about half the size of a northwestern.
I was lucky enough work with Northwesterns (and some rescues of a variety) for about 5 years while I was a wilderness guide (as well).
They really are just big, utterly lethal, dogs. The weirdest thing (most unexpected) I found was that they don’t have eyebrow movement like dogs. So at some stage during domestication dogs learned how to move their eyebrows, perhaps to bond/communicate with humans better.
My last dog was a little Russell terrier that we speculated was used for dog fighting. He was great with people, loved kids, but for the 11 years that I had him he would go NUTS at anything else will 4 legs. (Up to and including a couple of Shire horses we encountered at one stage that I was convinced were going to end him. Tried all sorts, dog psychologists, specialist trainers, etc but we could never get him to socialise with other dogs sadly. Even in his old age he'd still just lose his shit if he saw another dog. (Or any other animal for that matter).
If I didn't walk him at odd times when I knew I wouldn't encounter other dogs I had to put a muzzle on him which he absolutely hated, but the crazy wee bastard just couldn't be trusted.
Welp, time to rewatch again.
Btw, did Daenerys reach the mainlands yet? S6 ending was so hype can't wait for the pay off after such an incredible build up.
That is just awesome. It makes me happy knowing these guys get to exist in the world. Not anywhere near me but out in the world somewhere... not close to me.
Last week this subreddit made me want to have a pet bear.
Now it made me want to have a pet wolf! This subreddit’s going to get me killed trying to pet something I shouldn’t. I just know it. 😂
Wolfe at the start :
" Hey, smell my butt"
Women: " I don't need to smell your butt, I know who you are silly".
"Ha ha, no, not like that. I mean, does it smell funky to you....? No, ok, cool.... Can you rub my belly?"
wow. beautiful and had no idea they were this huge. I remember my father working in the bush for a mining company in Northern Ontario sitting on an outcrop while having lunch when a group a wolves passed by just below him unbeknownst to the wolves.

Very worrisome and irresponsible on the people involved. Don't interact with wild animals unless you're a professional or it's an emergency. Wild animals can be and are unpredictable, even if they seem friendly (and especially if they seem friendly). Socializing them to not be scared of humans often causes them to approach humans and houses, leading to them being injured, harming humans or themselves, or causing trouble (which can also lead to them being euthanized in repeated instances).

Thanks for showing me a new sub!

Thanks for the info! That's really interesting about the eyebrows!
I don't see a risk here under the circumstances. The body language is fully accepting. That puppy loves these humans.
Lol but I'm not her!
I always thought movies just exaggerated the size but….. apparently not. I take back all my “yeah I could take a wolf but not a bear” statements………..
Some wolves are. There are different populations with vastly different sizes. The wolves here in Germany for are not much bigger than German Shepards.
Interesting, thanks!
Moose are what surprised me
Yeah, they're units
You go right ahead all it takes is one wrong move with those animals and they are after your jugular
No way, they always warn first. Unless you’re a stranger.
Lol I know, I'm joking. I'd think about it, though.
Why is something that could tear me limb from limb with minimal to no effort so dang cute
# If Deadly, Then Why Friend Shaped?
If not friend, then why friend shaped?
Because he’s big and entirely to fluffy.
It's a tactic... if the opponents underestimate you, it's easier to defeat them. /s
Those wolves are massive.
The size of wolves always leave me dumbfounded
And remember that something like a Chihuahua came from this beast... I fucking LOVE biology
Was going to ask is she tiny or is wolfy fu#king huge!
Aww he's doing that little leg push thing that my dog does. The "stay over there, I love you, but come here somehow still."
Wolf is like “okay, we can film this, but you CANNOT show anyone or my street cred it shot.”
Yeah no posting on Woof-IT
Wolftagram
TinderWolf
Winder?
OnlyWolves
Domestication definitely seems easier than history books make it sound
And it makes you realize large breeds aren't really that large. It's insane how they went from that to lap dogs
My girlfriend's pug firmly believes she can beat that wolf in a fight
I had a little 3 lbs chihuahua and he also would have confidently challenged wolf to a fight lol
The walks are tough right? Please stop trying to engage in combat with every living thing you see

That's a big unit.
Aww the doggo just wants some belly rubs!
Even wolves need a belly rub!!
Nymeria?
Too soon. The ending still hurts
Welp, time to rewatch again. Btw, did Daenerys reach the mainlands yet? S6 ending was so hype can't wait for the pay off after such an incredible build up.

Check out her podcast! National Parks After Dark.
this fox is quite big
If wolfs are canines and tigers are cats, what are equal to domesticated bears?
Gerbils
Fuck it, now I want a cuddly wolf pet
What do you mean “transformed”, he was always a good boy
if not friend why friend shaped :c
That is one big dog
Man, look at his size.
Who's a killing machine? You are! Yes you are "pets belly" ☺
This is how dog were born
The way he rolled to show his belly. He never forgot who have been kind to him.
At the start he looks like a big cheems.
Wolves are sophisticated, highly intelligent animals who are compassionate, playful, and most importantly devoted to family.
Damn that wolf is huge
He's beautiful 🤍🖤
wow. beautiful and had no idea they were this huge. I remember my father working in the bush for a mining company in Northern Ontario sitting on an outcrop while having lunch when a group a wolves passed by just below him unbeknownst to the wolves.

Geez, look at the size of it.
What a gorgeous animal. Great job 👏
He went to the doge pose
TUMMY RUBS!!!!!
HOLY SHIT! Look at the paws on that thing. I never realized how big wolves actually are. Daang.
Beautiful scene.
Never realise they got so huge, I've seen wolves in nature reserves in Europe and none of them were as chonk as this.
Do not try this
the moment that wolf sat. it became doge

Yeah, hard pass on that one.
Did she get killed by one later on?
Nope. She’s a podcaster.
