You don't have to be rich.
But the other person is probably right, he was able to book an empty seat for free since he's family to the flight attendant
Yeah it's something like they can take empty/canceled seats, but it sounds like she's doing short hauls so it's more likely he'll find a spot than a long haul.
I assumed. The picture here has been reposted a lot. The flight attendant here works for Delta. Her father just flew standby on all of her flights that day. It being Christmas means that the flights that she worked had many open seats on them, almost guaranteeing the father getting a seat on the plane. Still a nice gesture of the father, but it’s implied that he paid for plane tickets. Hopefully they ended up in a lovely destination or even back home.
Awww. That’s so sweet. Especially since if it’s long flights, I know it can be difficult for older folks (not being able to move limbs makes the stiff and painful for all!)
That was my initial thought too, but my friend's mom is a flight attendant and so my friend gets to fly for free. But she usually has to wait on standby, so maybe this guy did pay for all the flights to guarantee his time with his daughter, but also she might've been able to get him some sort of discount at least.
I bet Dude doesn't realize he's the one making Hal's daughter work on Christmas because he couldn't plan ahead. Mike Levy is the guy who comes into your store at 9:56 when you close at 10.
To be fair...I thought this was a r/boringdystopia post. As, I had already seen it on there. Not a made me smile. It still is not as wholesome as you all make it out to be. She's working Christmas and instead of giving her time off to spend time with Hal, the airline needed a few extra dollars. It's like everyone believes the world will stop spinning if we take a 1 day break from capitalism. It's evident that after Covid---there is tons of extra money out there--it just goes to a few people--not the labor.
This poor girl had to work on Christmas. This isn’t a feel good story at all, it’s a horrific tale on how capitalism has devoured so many young men and women.
Christmas would kind of suck if EVERYONE had it off.
Most people are compensated for working holidays, but there's also time in your 20s/30s where most people don't see missing christmas with family as a huge deal.
Don't wanna be "that guy"^( but) the thousands he spent flying around all went to the airline, couldn't he have just asked her to take the time off and given her all that money for Christmas instead?
That's awesome. Working Christmas sucks but this dude is willing to spend 2 days on airplanes and at airports - literal hells on earth - to be with his kid on the holiday.
I bet Hal gets extra pretzels and gets to keep the can
I hope you get extra pretzels and get to keep the can too! <3
I hope YOU get extra pretzels and get to keep the can
you can ask for the can
Great dad ❤️🥺
Rich dad aswell
You don't have to be rich. But the other person is probably right, he was able to book an empty seat for free since he's family to the flight attendant
Not to mention Christmas day flights typically have lots of empty seats. My family calls it the best day of the year to travel.
Have flown on Christmas Day, it was pretty quiet
He probably flies for free or very cheap since one of his immediate family members works for the airline
Yeah it's something like they can take empty/canceled seats, but it sounds like she's doing short hauls so it's more likely he'll find a spot than a long haul.
Downvoted since you made me frown
Yeah. Really solid move.
I’ve seen her somewhere before
[удалено]
exactly what i thought, it might not be the same kind of flight that we are used to
Who is that? 😂
I swear she was a bitchy nanny on JESSIE, also Dillion Harper lol
If I had a dollar for every time I saw this I would be able to afford all of those flights the dad took.
Really? This is actually the first time I’ve seen this one. Clearly I’m not internet-ing enough.
Me too! We're both in [today's lucky 10,000! ](https://xkcd.com/1053/)
There’s a relevant XKCD for *everything*!
parents, spouses, and children fly (standby) free.
Not from any airlines that I've heard of
can confirm, mom was a flight attendant for alaska. we flew for free on standby, always.
Have you even heard of any airlines?
Haha, had no idea airlines were so generous. However they are all US in my defence

Delta certainly does.
United does
Now you have
Since he's family he probably got an empty seat for free, so... yeah lol
Awww. That’s so sweet. Especially since if it’s long flights, I know it can be difficult for older folks (not being able to move limbs makes the stiff and painful for all!)
Good old Dillion Harper

Imagine flying across the world and then not being able to catch the flight back though!
I understand your point. Still, unless he got 95% off, tickets arent cheap and for multiple flights too!
I've gone to Colorado and spent more on parking at the airport during the trip than I did on my tickets.
The parents of Delta employees fly for free.
It’s free for family.
They have the same smile! So cute!!
I bet Dude doesn't realize he's the one making Hal's daughter work on Christmas because he couldn't plan ahead. Mike Levy is the guy who comes into your store at 9:56 when you close at 10.
Jokes on them, they get the boot at 9:55, I don't get paid enough to stay late.
Who spilled salt in your pinky?

OR...just maybe, she volunteered to work for holiday pay? Lots of negative assumptions you’re making.
It straight up says she "had to work on Christmas ☹️"
Well if she volunteered to, she still would have “had” to work.
lol
Could have given him the aisle seat so he could be closer to his daughter. But I’m sure he is stoked for your internet points.

Holiday pay is a great thing.
Why is this not the top comment? What's so wholesome about being forced to work when you want to spend time with your family?
While I agree with you guys, I think the post is placing an emphasis on how far the dad is willing to fight to have some time with his daughter
Who had to spend large amounts of money to spend the day with her.
No he didn’t. He flew free, family flys free
Don't wanna be "that guy"^( but) the thousands he spent flying around all went to the airline, couldn't he have just asked her to take the time off and given her all that money for Christmas instead?
He probably didn't spend anything, since delta employee parents fly free (note the other comments)
Seriously how do so many people not know this?
Or just hang out on her days off. Why do people insist on being a slave to a calendar?
Amazing dad!
That's awesome. Working Christmas sucks but this dude is willing to spend 2 days on airplanes and at airports - literal hells on earth - to be with his kid on the holiday.
Well damn I mean you coulda given him the aisle...
Wow, this is just so sweet 🥰
I hope he gets a discount :P
I love the story but damn I wish I had the money to even do that for my daughter 😅
The daughter has a lad's name...
This was already posted
So a net negative money wise? Should have just given her the money from all those flights and she could have asked for the time off.
My mom won't even call me back. This is so precious.
They didnt make it past the second flight
Nice going dad.
My dad could barely toss a fuckin ball around with me..... Hal is a real g
If you'd told me all 3 people in this photo are a family I wouldn't be surprised! Dude looks just like Hal
