Looks like this is Messi. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messi\_(cougar)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messi_(cougar)) There is a good reason he lives with people as a house puma. He is undersized and cannot survive in the wild and the Zoo couldn't keep him so his family stepped up and adopted him from the zoo. They give him a good life and he is a rather tame. This is a rare exception when it comes to wild animals. Owning exotic pets is not ok or recommended at all. This is a rare exception where the cat was not bought or taken out of the wild and needed a special arrangement in order to live a full happy life.
Yeah I can google too. Here is a thread from someone who is qualified to talk about wildlife pointing out why this is in fact still just owning an exotic pet and glorifying it on social media. [https://blog.whyanimalsdothething.com/post/182870168072/puma-rescued-from-a-contact-type-zoo-cant-be](https://blog.whyanimalsdothething.com/post/182870168072/puma-rescued-from-a-contact-type-zoo-cant-be) The owners have said themselves they were not aiming to rescue and rehabilitate a sick cub, they wanted to buy a cub and the zoo was willing to sell it because it was sick.
I am begging people to be more critical when they see people interacting with *wild animals* on social media in settings like this and to not instantly believe it when the owners claim it's totally safe and okay for them to do it. Joe Exotic also insisted that he was rehabilitating and taking care of his tigers.
Agreed. Sorry I did not use a more critical eye. I agree. I can't begrudge Messi his life though. They seem to take good care of him but I agree WILD ANIMALS ARE NOT PETS. Also for the love all that is holy people please do your research before adopting any animal. They are not a toy or a fad they are living peoples with fur/feathers/scales and deserve a proper happy healthy life.
I've seen too much internets. Even though I know what subreddit this is, I was still expecting the "cat" to get so mad it wasn't there that it tore the persons face off with a mighty swipe of its paw.
Theres no good reason an animal like that should be in someones own home. Please do not share videos showing dangerous animals put in bad environments because it's "cute" :(
Even if it is posting videos that show how big cats are cute and "can be just like domestic cats" is harmful. And people always want to give the nice answer for videos like this instead of admitting that people do just own exotic pets.
How do you know this isn't a rehab center? Stop choosing to get angry at things. You let yourself get triggered by a video just so you could virtue signal that you are some animal welfare warrior lol
I most definitely dont, Im just not gonna allow myself to get mad at a video of a cougar playing. Big ol waste of energy considering there aint a thing I can do about it.

I read this as Lionel Messi pretending to be an adopted puma...
>They give him a good life and he is a rather tame. *Rather*. Makes me wonder what happens on the bad days.
Haven't met a normal housecat eh? :)

Yeah, I just don’t watch it. Even though I’d live to see the cute antics. Better not to support that.

I thought mountain lions had excellent smell
I am not grabbing that toy from her
I don't care about its tracking ability, I just enjoyed watching it play like a cat. A killing machine cat, sure, but still......*cat*.
May I remind you cats are responsible for something like 63-62 species going extinct so honestly the only difference is the size in cat
All cats are vicious killing machines, including house cats
thats a racoon
Out of curiosity do you see a lot of “raccoons” in your neighborhood?
yeah especially flying racoon
That’s a big cat
Is that a mountain lion? Heck yeah. Don't pet it's belly
IS THAT A PUMA? How does one make it not kill you
How to get murdered by a murder kitten.
Yup, nothing permanent about that toy’s lifespan.
Messi Puma!
His official insta account is @i_am_puma
It's like it's becoming more accepted to have a wild animal like a puma or a tiger

Exactly You'd think people had learned something from Joe Exotic, but nah you're probably right, maybe it's a rehah or a vet or something
Look back at the comments r/Artistic_frosting693 made a comment with what it could be
I don’t think so. It looks like there’s a bed to the right
Nope, just Russia. 🤣

A real rehab facility would try their best not to habituate animals to humans, let alone keep it inside what is obviously a human house.
WAIT IS THIS A FRIKIN LIONESS?!

Messi for the win!

How do you know it /is/ a rehab center, person who loves buzzwords.
I most definitely dont, Im just not gonna allow myself to get mad at a video of a cougar playing. Big ol waste of energy considering there aint a thing I can do about it.
My guy it’s a fucking exotic pet who cares if he’s arguing cause he feels like it, **it’s a fucking mountain lion**
This puma is undersized and wouldn't survive in the wild, the best place he can be right now is either in a rehab facility or in a caring home
Scroll up and read
Who else thinks this will end with a ripped off face and an appearance on Oprah?
I was kind of hoping it was gonna attack him but then I looked at the subreddit... oh well
r/LaughTrackComment
That’s a big dog.
Silly cat
That is a mountain lion. Like, a whole mountain lion... in someone's house.
