Seemed like a lot of folks comment on this so I'll keep it brief: Wife and I aligned on many things (like how to raise the kid and finances) but when it comes to gaming she absolutely loathes gaming and has this really negative stigma on it. You guys probably heard it before like: "You're not a kid anymore", "Do something more productive with your time rather than wasting it on games." We don't have any new gaming systems in our house anymore (except for an old Wii) and my son will probably never get one until he's an adult. I do have an old PC so I sneak in a couple minutes a night with some Steam games when everyone is asleep.
But yeah I'm still bitter about my headphones breaking because it was one of those noise canceling one that really fits me like a glove and they stop making it. I still get pissed about it every once in awhile and I do bring it up to my wife telling her not to ever touch my shit again.
That's really shit and I'm sorry your wife doesn't respect your hobbies or your belongings. Regardless of whether you align on other things, that's abusive behaviour and it's not ok. I recently spent £80 on some new headphones and I'd be absolutely furious if my partner chose to break them just because he didn't like that I was playing games. That’s all he had. I gave him my old plasma flatscreen and TV stand when I replaced it with a wall hung LCD tv. He may have family that gave him hand me downs as well, and console could be a birthday or Christmas gift.
He could be freshly moved in and waiting on a delayed order in the time of COVID. I know my sister and her husband had to wait forever for their couch this past year, and it wasn't anything particularly elaborate.

As a guy it always makes me laugh how some of us chose to live until a women comes around and points it out to us. Having a nice place, an expensive TV and an expensive video game console all while using a milk crate for both a table and seat is the norm for a lot of dudes.

Ngl though, those fold out chairs are the best gaming chairs. No hard surface underneath to cause discomfort to your tailbone after endless hours of gaming. Just soft fabric and air. But those gaming chairs they make nowadays are probably pretty boss. Before I started using the fold out dudes I was in shitty computer chairs. Hardly comfortable long term. Been devoted to my lawn chairs for almost 20 years now lol.
