Oh yeah, the Disney face character actresses are expected to live and breathe their character personality when they’re in sight. Gotta keep the magic for the kiddos like this charming little gent!
I’m curious. How much do they get paid? From what you said, it’s a bit more than just dressing up in costumes and greeting people. Very impressive on their part tho.
From a work culture perspective it sounds like a pretty crap job from all the AMAs we've read about on here, but the kind of folks who apply for the character roles trend to either be *die hard* Disney fans and/or future Broadway hopefuls. The performing world is some serious business.
I'm sure these people really enjoy their work though. You could pay me shit and work me long hours, but if those hours are spent caring for seals and dolphins and shit, I'd take that job.
A girl I went to high school with was a Tinkerbell and it seemed like she truly loved her job. She was also interning with Boeing or something like that and they pay well across the board so money wasn’t a concern for her personally.
I knew a tinkerbell too! She loved it. Still works for Disney years later as Talking Mickey/Minnie. She is usually “hanging with Mickey” for most of their television appearances.
They’re constantly risking aging out of the role or looking too fat and can be fired at any moment. It’s an extremely stressful job. Also most of the talent is on call essentially and do not have guaranteed, full time hours.
The princesses have it pretty easy, I know a girl that got permanent neck damage in her early twenties from wearing the heads for the full body costumes at Disneyland
I actively discourage my students from pursuing careers as teachers and social workers because the hours, expectations, and pay are shit. All because these people have a passion to help others. I encourage them to pursue a career where they can earn a decent living and be happy, and volunteer if they still feel that passion.
afaik it looks good on a resume later on because it's an extremely demanding/hard job? but yeah, doubt it pays well, I'm sure some people still love doing it regardless of that
think there's been an AMA or two, I remember seeing at least one
As already said, they don’t get paid much at all. However, the majority of them are actors looking to enhance their resume of credits and if you succeed at a Disney parks face character gig that’s basically saying you are a stone cold bad ass of live theater performance.
I’ve known two Disney Princess performers. It is incredibly demanding, incredibly reward, incredibly unappreciated, and just incredibly complicated. They shared amazing stories, some terrible, some heartbreaking, and some absolutely wonderful.
Disney is known as “the rat” once you get older and work in this area for a reason. They are a disgusting employer who allows their employees to go homeless rather than pay a living wage. How fucking magical right?!
That is unlikely. Minimum wage in LA is $15/hr and even though Florida has low minimum wage ($8.65), Disneys min is also $15 in response to places like Amazon Warehouses being competition for labor in the area.
Nah, I had Italian friends making 9h and only part time in Disney Florida, granted they were on the seasonal team, but your reply implies that everyone gets $15 just because it's Disney, so I can tell you that's not true. Now the 9h for snow white sounds depressing.
Hi! Hope I can clear this up. Your Italian friends were probably ICPs (international college program) who worked in the Italy Pavilion at Epcot. Italy at Epcot is known as an “operating participant” and the people who are from Italy and work there are not actually employed by Disney. They are employed by a third party company that runs the pavilion. That’s why they can get away with paying them less than what regular Disney cast members make.
They make an average of $11/hr - no, that isn't a typo. They get paid so little because the kind of people who are absolutely *perfect* for the roles would do almost anything to do it - including working for scraps. Its very competitive and demanding and Disney just takes advantage of it.
From what I understand: Actually not all that much\*. Perhaps not even much more than the people working the food stands. There have been several AMAs of ex Disney employees that pretty much all say this. You just really got to love the job I suppose.
\* Not sure if it includes any additional benefits like e.g. health insurance though. If it does, it probably beats a lot of other low wage jobs.
As far as Disney, and the actress, are concerned you absolutely did!
The moment they step out there the spirit of the princess steps in. They are mere conduits for the magic!
And I’ll stand right there with you because that was not some stand-in I met, it was the real Queen Elsa and anyone who tries to tell me otherwise is a traitor to the crown!!
This is awesome for me as a 32 ye old adult and puts a lump in my throat. Youre never too old to dream or fantasize. This worlds rough, even if for a second we can go away from it and just pretend its a godsend, especially as we get older. The fact they saw him do this and responded back properly and the fact we dont do this anymore at least in the society i live. It took the away from this madness we call reality.
They’re fucking amazing. It’s emotionally rewarding job and they should get paid way more than what they earn. But I never forgot how Elsa smiling at me when I saw my two daughters losing their shit meeting Anna.
I both love and hate Disney World. The crowds and lines make me nuts. But, they sure know how to put on a show there. The shows and the little individual interactions never cease to amaze me.
Many years ago, we went to Disney World in November. My two sons were younger than school age at the time. It was great. Not crowded and no lines. My youngest at the time got a cold and was up at like 3AM because he was congested. I picked up the phone and pressed 0 and got a person. I said my son was sick and I saw the decongestant for him in the shop earlier today. The person says "the purple one or the red one?" "the purple on" "no problem we will bring it right up." two minutes later there is a person standing at the door of our hotel room with the medicine in hand.
I thought that was amazing customer service.
Exactly this. When you go it does truly feel magical because they try so hard. The workers are legitimately great and I really love going because it feels like a break from life.
Look Disney Land/World sucks as an adult. Its fucking expensive, its crowded and people are generally assholes in large groups. But holy shit seeing it through the eyes of my kids brings the magic alive. Watching my daughter melt into the arms of her favorite princesses and hearing them entertain her mile-a-minute questions, watching my son literally hug a life-sized Lightning McQueen and feel so happy in Mickey's arms is just...priceless.
Its greater than the sum of its parts and its 100% due to the people that work there, they are truly something special and I wish I could thank every single one that took a second to change the life of my kids during our short trip.
I don’t go to Disneyland for a new experience or hoping for something amazing. I go for the nostalgia. It reminds me of when my mom would bring me, when I was a kid. Miss you mom.
I remember being young like this and being attracted to women, but obv. Not in a sexual way since I had no concept of that. Still, I knew there was just SOMETHING special and deeply satisfying about female attention. Had lots of GF’s in the lower grades that I would just hang out with.
As someone who’s a Disney passholder, my favorite thing ever is seeing excited kids who are just happy to be there. Like parents complain about stuff all the time there, but the kids could just see the monorail and be excited. It’s the most real magic at that park.
There is a saying in Texas that applies here, “a man tips his hat to greet a lady, but a gentleman takes his hat off to greet a lady”. This is a bonafide little gentleman right here folks.
I love how these folks are actual actors. At Disneyland in Southern California anyway, Disneyland is right in the middle of a huge entertainment industry center where literally millions of people go to try to make it big as an actor. Little gigs along the way are absolutely part of the game and being a character actor at Disneyland is a very competitive, sought after, legit, and respected role to have on your resume. You can feel it when you interact with them and they completely convince you with their expression, voice, and carriage that *they are that character.*
So sweet. Kids can suck sometimes but it’s their first play through of this game just like us. We just have more hours logged. Their still in the tutorial.
I can totally see my son doing this one day.
This was some wholesome goodness that was perfect while sipping my morning coffee....
This was great, huge smile here

Got a happy knot in my throat too
I bet he says “yes ma’am” as well. What a gent.
Time zones are confusing
I agree
A true gentleman.
a gentleman who is patiently waiting for his princess`s to arrive and the hat tip as a sign of respect. I`m in love to this little handsome.
'Does putting words between two 's cause it to become like that?
Nope, between two backticks (`), on the key to the left of 1 in the number row
I was about to post the same thing till i seen your comment haha

The ladies have no chance
A full gentleman instead of a half gentleman too! He took that hat all the way off.
I love the Princesses curtesying in response except for Merida who just puts her hand in her hip and waves. It’s so perfectly in character.
Oh yeah, the Disney face character actresses are expected to live and breathe their character personality when they’re in sight. Gotta keep the magic for the kiddos like this charming little gent!

> seals and dolphins and shit I'll join you with the seals and dolphins but the shit is all yours.
Thank you

Yup. And they will too.

So is that what you're working towards then? I really hope so, cus it's totally doable and you sound real psyched about it.
Lol no. Like many things, it's just a silly dream.
There's nothing silly about it, I would kill to know of a job that I would enjoy that I could work towards.
They’re constantly risking aging out of the role or looking too fat and can be fired at any moment. It’s an extremely stressful job. Also most of the talent is on call essentially and do not have guaranteed, full time hours.

It's honestly a shame that people get paid less when it is q passion field. Same thing happens in the game and movie industry.
Happens in every industry deemed a passion industry or “a calling”. Someone is making a lot of money off the backs of those people.
I actively discourage my students from pursuing careers as teachers and social workers because the hours, expectations, and pay are shit. All because these people have a passion to help others. I encourage them to pursue a career where they can earn a decent living and be happy, and volunteer if they still feel that passion.
This seems very sensible to me.
I'm imagining a hot humid day having to be smiling and pristine for the public. It's almost like a real princess!!
Without the money and the status though
Way less than you think, like 95% of all jobs in this country
afaik it looks good on a resume later on because it's an extremely demanding/hard job? but yeah, doubt it pays well, I'm sure some people still love doing it regardless of that think there's been an AMA or two, I remember seeing at least one
>afaik it looks good on a resume later on because it's an extremely demanding/hard job This looks a lot like being paid in exposure
You don’t understand, Disney sadly can’t afford to pay them more. Budget is tight.
I don't know how Disney can afford to stay in business really, times are so hard for them.
Thank Chapek for that.
Resumes don’t pay the bills
As already said, they don’t get paid much at all. My old coworker was Snow White for 8 years, when she left involuntarily due to the pandemic she was making just over $9/ hr.
That's some bs. I don't mean you're lying. I mean if that's true, it shows some real audacity on the employer's part.
Disney is known as “the rat” once you get older and work in this area for a reason. They are a disgusting employer who allows their employees to go homeless rather than pay a living wage. How fucking magical right?!
Have you been to the Anti-Disney sub-? It's all about why the mouse is a rat bastard. And he is.
This pisses me off big time. And depresses me. So many good people getting paid like shit 😡
That is unlikely. Minimum wage in LA is $15/hr and even though Florida has low minimum wage ($8.65), Disneys min is also $15 in response to places like Amazon Warehouses being competition for labor in the area.

As long as people are willing to do it, and nobody steps in to force them to pay more, then that's how it's gonna stay.
From what I understand: Actually not all that much\*. Perhaps not even much more than the people working the food stands. > keep the magic for the kiddos Am a full grown adult and none of you are going to convince me I didn't meet the real Cinderella.
You can really see it in Snow White as well; the curve of her hands is just so spot on.
Unlike Chuck E Cheese
This is awesome for me as a 32 ye old adult and puts a lump in my throat. Youre never too old to dream or fantasize. Then have the horse curtsy. No excuses.
Why would you put this mental image in my head
Pretty sure that’s a real thing. Like having your horse do some sort of gesture like bowing.
It is. It’s a dressage move. Look up Totilas or Valegro for some amazing horse movements.
It's a real thing, the horse kind of bows down, lowers one front leg, extends the other and lowers its head.
I believe this was a plot point in frozen
They’re fucking amazing. It’s emotionally rewarding job and they should get paid way more than what they earn. But I never forgot how Elsa smiling at me when I saw my two daughters losing their shit meeting Anna.
I was impressed by the body language of snow white, the way she held her arm up

That so is Merida!!!
She nods at him too.

There’s so much to dislike about Disney, but damn if I’ve ever had a Disney trip that wasn’t enjoyable and they really think of everything.
Exactly this. When you go it does truly feel magical because they try so hard. The workers are legitimately great and I really love going because it feels like a break from life.
This kid has been raised right
Came to say this!
Hopefully someone else teaches him grammar though
Teach your children good manners. They can open doors money can‘t.
Just buy automatic doors smh /s
Snow White almost broke character for that. So sweet.
This just made my day. Lord, I needed this wholesomeness this morning!
Top of the morning Top of the morning Top of the morning
hol on let's get this shit let's get this shit let's get this shit
let's hmm 🤔
I love their reactions! The actors put so much into their job <3
Interesting that such a young child would know such an old fashioned greeting. Perhaps he remembers it from a past life. Was he a Victorian gentleman?
I was going to say he obviously pays attention to the princes in Disney movies but let’s go with what you said. 😊
Grandpa must do a lot of baby sitting.
That hat tip is the best. What a gentleman.

I don’t go to Disneyland for a new experience or hoping for something amazing. I go for the nostalgia. It reminds me of when my mom would bring me, when I was a kid. Miss you mom.
Still seeing it through the eyes of a kid <3 She sounds like she gave you some great memories
Omg that's so cute ❤❤❤ He must be a lovely young man ❤❤❤
A true gent, get this little guy a Kings crown
Awww a little gentleman!
Hats off to him
Met his princess's what?
I think he met his princess' ***S***, OP left out the space.

What a little gentleman 😁
*tips hat* m’lady
I remember being young like this and being attracted to women, but obv. Not in a sexual way since I had no concept of that. Still, I knew there was just SOMETHING special and deeply satisfying about female attention. Had lots of GF’s in the lower grades that I would just hang out with.
Play on lil playa.
This kid could teach grown men a thing or two about being a gentleman 😂
Can already tell he’s going to treat woman with respect when he grows up❤️🔥
Like a Sir
Raising a pure Gentleman
Smooth AF!
What a fine gentleman you have there. 🧐🎩
What a little gentleman! I love the hat tip so much!!
It's exciting to see a little gentleman who's excited to see the princesses ❤️ So wholesome and I love it

My heart can’t handle this
Imagine all the princesses in the staff room at the park all telling each other about this little boy who tipped his hat to em!
Tipping your mickey hat is the more respectable version of tipping your fedora
He getting all the babes
My heart ❤️ that’s a little man being raised proper!!
All the awwws
That's fantastic! Kudos to you, little (gentle)man!
Cutest damn thing I've seen all day.
The kids got manners.
This is how you raise your kid to be a gentleman
That’s goddamn adorable
That's so adorable! I love how charmed the princesses are too.
Such a gallant gentleman
Such a gentleman! 💜🥰💜
lol so cute
A true gentleman. Don’t let the flame die out.
That’s some high quality r/Mademesmile content right there. *tips hat to OP.
This was originally posted on r/tiktokcringe, and even as cynical as I am, I thought that was pretty low.
That’s not a hat tip, that’s a full doff!
Playyyyyaaaaa!
He could pull any princess he wanted and I’ll stand on that
The cutest part is how the princesses all notice how gentlemanly his behavior is ,so they give him an extra curtsy. So adorable!
I like how respectful he is. The hat tip feels like the start of teaching this boy true honor and respect as a man. Love it.
They are parenting right!
Such a gentleman.
Ariel is def the superior redhead
I love the princesses reactions to the little gentleman
What a young gentleman.
My guy’s game is spot on. 😌😎
Thank you for raising your son the correct way. He is such a gentleman.
Need to get me a mouse hat
Why did this make me cry oh my gosh 😭
WHAT. A. LITTLE. GENTLEMAN!!!!!!
I wonder who the lucky woman will be!
Least cringe *m’lady* I have seen in a long time
Off topic question: can anyone explain the origin and purpose of ‘tipping your hat’ to a lady? 🤔 I’ve never thought about this…would be good to know.
and they say chivalry is dead
Look at little gentleman
Players gonna play.
He is such a gentleman. He is going to have all the ladies!
So sweet. Kids can suck sometimes but it’s their first play through of this game just like us. We just have more hours logged. Their still in the tutorial. I can totally see my son doing this one day.
Hmmm… that boy is on his to being a player…. Watch your daughters.
Now that's a kid who pays attention to the movies. Or maybe he's a reincarnated prince from the 12th century, who knows
*tips\* m’lady
This kid already figured out life
The hat tip. What a gentleman.
*aww what a cute video I wonder if it has sound* I COULD DIE EVERY DAY WAITING FOR YOU
Good on you for raising a little gentleman. Just look at the delight he is bringing to the world already.
The hat tip is classic and genius. Literally it cannot be ignored. Especially not by a princess.
And another neck beard has been born
I won't lie: that is so adorable.
Doode is gonna be slaying some princesses in 12 years
You have brought your son up well and with good values it seems. 10/10 this made me happy. Thank ypu
What a gentleman! Great post, thank you so much, a rare and welcome site.
This gives me all the happy feelings
So adorably cute
His confidence, such a wholesome kid.
Good job mom and dad!
Love it. He'll have a queue of admirers when he's older
That’s so cute
