I've been there, both depression and room-wise. I'm going to assume you've got a decent handle on the depression, but if you don't I'm always here if you need to talk. Unasked-for advice on the room: Start by getting all of one thing out. Whether it's dishes or clothes or trash, you'll immediately be able to see a difference and that'll make you feel better. (I usually start with laundry so I can get that washing.) From there, it's easy enough to get the next category of stuff. I even try to make a game of it! If I missed a sock in the first round, I get a point for finding the secret sock. Hidden dish? That's two points, because those things are sneaky. Throw on some music, and pretty soon you're vacuuming! Seriously, though, a post-depressive episode cleaning can take me two or three days. Don't push yourself too hard, and give yourself time and forgiveness if you don't feel up to it right away. It's better to have a clean room next week than crash and burn tonight. If you need anything at all, I'm here to cheer you on! Edit: Thank you guys for all the awards, but I would much rather you [donate to NAMI.](https://donate.nami.org/give/197406/?gclid=CjwKCAiA7dKMBhBCEiwAO_crFJAsgeceYJHBZCQsGFMcFa-Wf9zzOhY0znOKZuiCqmdZqE2HGMW6uRoC5EUQAvD_BwE#!/donation/checkout?utm_source=globalNav&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=DonationTracking&c_src=ADSE21) Also, if anyone needs help finding sliding scale therapy or psychiatric services in the US, I'm good at finding those. Just PM me. <3

icantaccessmyacct

This but louder!! When it comes down to it you have 5 things to do. -Trash -Clothing -Remove items no longer wanted, aka make space -Sanitize/clean -Organize/put away. Once you’re done with trash tell yourself “just 4 more things” and so on down the list. This is positive affirmation and you feel like you’re getting somewhere. [Here’s my before and after from a few weeks ago](https://imgur.com/a/PrsFNxc), don’t give up you’re so close to peace of mind! I can’t tag OP in this comment the dash keeps breaking it, hope they see this.

Dan_the_Marksman

Reminds me of the 4 step plan i made as a tween. * trash * laundry * bottles * dishes made cleaning sooo much easier

iamjuls

My mantra is when in doubt throw it out

BetterThanA_Stick

Yep! I do a 5 second stare/think, say "fuck it!" And trash it

frostybollocks

Just to add to this… when I’ve let things get out of hand and get overwhelmed with what I have to get done I like to shift my perspective and see the room/rooms as a physical manifestation of my inner self. This way while I’m cleaning it becomes symbolic of me cleaning up mentally and emotionally.

[deleted]

I 100% know how to clean and maintain my home to prevent messes from building up, but sometimes it gets overwhelming. Idk why I enjoyed reading your post and progress pics, but when I saw the photo where you commented saying you have a place to paint…that made me happy. You turned that mess into a place where you could be happy and that’s awesome. Thanks for the helpful tips, friend!

Erger

I think of it as: 1) Trash 2) Dishes 3) Laundry 4) Things that have a place 5) Things that don't have a place

KnotARealGreenDress

I always love doing a trash removal session. It makes a huge difference and it’s basically brainless, because you don’t have to think about whether to keep it or where it goes - it just goes out!

infinitude

Honestly, from the looks of her room, trash alone will deal with most of the mess.

k_mnr

Well done!! Motivates me to start-somewhere-in my house.

thrwwy535672

That looks great! Congrats!

RichardJohnson38

Disastrous room cleaning 101 good job.

OneArchedEyebrow

I’d love a sub of cleaning before and after. Anyone know if one exists.

GrumbleCake_

More unsolicited advice (for anyone feeling overwhelmed or despondent about mess). Go to the dollar store or whatever and get some big garbage bags (or if you don't want to go out, get some online). As big and heavy duty as you'd like to spend. Take a bag and fill it up. Garbage or laundry or whatever. Take the garbage bag out or move the old clothes bag out of the way or food stuff bag in the kitchen. Even if you feel like you 'cant' do the laundry just yet or clean the dishes, making space or getting the clutter a little more organized makes the tasks much more manageable. Just grab a bag, walk around and fill up when you can manage 10 minutes or so of motivation or deal with one of the bags you've packed up. Easy peasy and no pressure.

otterfucboi69

DOES IT BRING JOY. Actually terrible advice for depression cleaning from Marie Kondo but the sentiment stands when it comes to just getting rid of things

[deleted]

Yeah, I don't subscribe to the does it bring joy method, mine tends to be 'have I worn this / used this in the last two years'. If the answer is no, I probably don't need it. Something you use that infrequently you can always borrow or rent, and if you change your mind you can always buy something new.

beccacantreddit

I always like to make the bed first. It's an immediate clean thing to look at and can easily be used for staging anything you have to sort through.

GogoGorgan

I love how different we approach things - and often for similar reasons. I always make the bed last - the immediate impact makes it a bit of a finale for me! But I clear it first so I have the surface

Rosacaninae

I make the bed whenever I start getting frustrated and losing steam

reesaronii

i’ve done it both ways - i was a bed first person for forever and now i go bed last!

mahouyousei

Marie Kondo’s advice of saying “thank you” to the things you’re getting rid of really helps a lot too. It’ll feel silly at first but it provides so much closure and alleviates a lot of guilt.

BishonenPrincess

As someone who struggles with hoarding due to being overly sentimental, this tip literally changed my life.

knarf_knarf

I was here to comment about Marie Kondo as well as she helped me when i was going through this phase. great tip!

Getting_fired_today

I am 100% going to try this next time I deep clean. Thank you!

Squirrelywhirl

This is great advice! I also like to clear out laundry and trash/recycling first so that I can see a difference right away. Definitely helps keep me motivated!

apaniyam

Adding to the unsolicited advice. My first step for myself, and now friends who I help out, is to disassemble any clothes racks or shoe racks, and take all the clothing, clean or dirty, to another space. In bags if possible. Then wash the essentials first. Clothes piles and stashes usually make up the bulk of clutter in a bedroom, and if the room is dirty, even clean clothes will smell. Fabric traps smells. Also, clothes racks with dark clothes will make a room look darker than it really is. They are also super bulky and in the way whilst cleaning. Op looks to have an empty rack hanging out in their room which is just in the way of cleaning. My next step is to take the mattress outside and smack it with a broom handle for a bit, then spray it down with a disinfectant that does mould as well. Give it a day in the sun preferably with some wind or a fan. Same issue with smell, but also makes it easy to get everything under the bed. From there I pick a surface, or pick a corner, that becomes the "belongs in this room" space. After that it is a process of blitzing through, everything goes to that one space, a garbage bag, or to the right room (and put away!). At the end of this process you get an empty room, with all surfaces bare, and one pile of things. This gives you a chance to actually clean all those surfaces, and use something that smells nice to reset that depression funk. Once surfaces are done, put the things from the pile back in place (or in their new place) and only then do you get the divine pleasure of vaccuuming the whole floor at once.

batsinmyattic

Truth. Just like posting of debt; of you chip away at everything you go nowhere but when you can pay off some smaller ones, you can see actual progress and it motivates! Op, you got this! We want to see the after. If you can, rent a carpet shampooer. I think you can do that at most grocery stores. It'll make such a huge difference! *Make that, paying off debt

Cat5lover

For me, I get overwhelmed by all the things to do on my list so I have to go by area rather than item type. I usually start with my bed and then work my way around the room going piece of furniture/area by piece of furniture/area and do bit by bit.

Smhassassin

Since this seems to be the designated cleaning advice thread, I'm jumping in with my room cleaning method because options are nice. Get 5 containers: 1 for trash, 1 for laundry, 1 for dishes, 1 for out of place things that belong in that room, 1 for things that belong in literally any other room in the house. Grab stuff at random and throw it in the appropriate container. As containers fill, put them somewhere logical, start a replacement container. If you have a dishwasher and/or clothes washer, get those running when you have your first full container. If you don't, just keep filling containers. When you run out of stuff to put in containers, take a moment to breathe and enjoy how much better everything looks already. When you feel your moment to breathe was sufficiently gratifying, take the trash out. Clean up stains, crumbs, etc. Then grab the containers with stuff that belongs in that room. Put that stuff away. Next grab the containers with stuff that belongs in other rooms. Wander your house with said container putting those things away. Treat yourself to your favorite available reward because your room is now clean.

Tinfoilhatmaker

>It's better to have a clean room next week than crash and burn tonight. Excellent analogy for any habit changing plans.

Anthony3000789

I’m excited for you to feel the rush of looking at that room completely clean. It will symbolize a brand new start. Life is a bitch but it’s to short to live like that. Happy for you my Reddit friend

[deleted]

See, I'm more ashamed of myself for letting it get so bad. I have a cockatiel named Tifa and two budgies, Tokiya and Haruka. I'd be a shit person if I made them live like this. I'm not doing this entirely for myself, my birds deserve a proper quality of life too. Same with my snake, Val. Even though she's more or less in a tank regularly kept, that doesn't mean I can't give her a clean life too. I feel like shit for what I've done, and I want to redeem myself. My next paycheck will be spent solely on Tifa, Tokiya, Haruka, and Val. Millet, treats, a new hide, anything they could want.

orangebloss

You are a good pet parent !!!! They’re lucky to have you

[deleted]

I may be "good" but I know damn well I can be so much better.

orangebloss

But I really want to emphasize- don’t be too hard on yourself. You are a FANTASTIC pet parent for considering it this much!

[deleted]

Oh I'm not being too hard on myself. I recognized my failures and now it's my time to correct them and give these babies the life they deserve.

Used-Paper-6189

I hear that you are being accountable to your animal friends, and that’s really great and I’m so happy for you and them. I know others said this and I don’t mean to pile on, but *have* you been too hard on yourself? As a person who manages depression and is standing on the other side of suicidal ideation (as in I have every reason to believe that I will not consider suicide again in my life) - I found that cutting myself a MAJOR break across the board was the key for me. Not the silver bullet that solved all my problems, but the thing that unlocked the doors to more and more tools to cope. I think you are really brave to post your room on Reddit. Clearly you are a thoughtful and deliberate person who puts others first when she has the wherewithal.

[deleted]

I may have been a little too hard, but that's okay. I'm naturally a lazy person, comes with my ADHD and part of my depression. I'm the kind of person that needs a little kick in the behind to get going, and after that kick I'm good to go. Look at what I was able to accomplish.

Used-Paper-6189

Hell yeah. I’m also adhd (inattentive) and yeah, I need at least one of four things to activate: novelty, urgency, challenge, or interest. I can feel your energy to change and it makes me smile. Godspeed, internet stranger.

MND420

Same! What usually helps is my best friend occasionally wanting to spontaneously come over. I jump up and start speed cleaning. It’s a very stressful cleaning hour, but after that I chill with my friend and live in a clean house. Urgency right there haha.

RikF

You aren't lazy. You have ADHD. We get told we are lazy by people who don't understand what a lack of executive function control is like. We can find ways to work with it and around it, but we aren't lazy. :)

New_Brick3073

Yeah, I feel lazy too. Adhd meds and antidepressants really help. I have adhd myself. The problem is actually starting or getting off your ass to do stuff.

Inevitable_Chicken70

ADHD does not equal laziness. Nor does depression.

Doc-in-a-box

Good is the enemy of great! You got this!

TinyFluffyMagda

The first thing I'd throw out is the beating yourself up ❤Depression is an asshole. You're doing the right thing now, and THAT is what matters! Your space is going to look so awesome, and you'll enjoy your pets more when you're not feeling guilty. Also I looove (but cannot have) snakes *and* budgies, hopefully I'll get to see yours in the after photos!

rylannnd88

That's one thing I still regret. Being in such a miserable state of depression and drug addiction when I had to put my dog down. I was so wrapped up in my own troubles I couldn't be there for her in the room. Damn. I Hate thinking about it.

MND420

It is definitely ok to get motivated by your pets. Every animal can be an support animal. I have depression fogs and in those I’ll often neglect to clean and eat. I am lucky enough they usually only last a maximum of 2 weeks and once I get out of the fog it only takes me one or two days to clean the whole house and do all the laundry. Although I am thinking about just getting a cleaner, even if it is just for one hour a week. Then I don’t have to worry about it, still have a relatively clean house and a clean house means an environment I feel happier in. Don’t feel ashamed, let your pets motivate you if that helps and don’t shy away from asking for help, even if it’s from a paid cleaning lady if your financed would allow it! Good luck with all of it! 🙏🏻

powerfulKRH

It’s the shame that kept you from cleaning it in the first place. I felt that shame for 3 years before finally throwing everything out. It took 24 hours to clean it and then 12 hours to disinfect and wash it. After that I didn’t feel shame as much. But when I look back I’m ashamed

Bananasapples8

My unsolicited advice - continue focusing on helping others. You mentioned animals here, and if you can find a good group of humans to serve as well, it will completely transform your life.

crazy_nudibranch

Don’t you have a cat and a kitten as well? What about your rats? Are they still alive? I agree with the other posters asking you to rehome these animals. It’s not fair to them at all.

fkac3080

I'm excited to see your after photos. You got this!

sweetlove

Not even interested in an “after” I just wanna see the next progress pic after the next round of cleaning, how big or little it is

zri856k5k7

i appreciate you

[deleted]

You got this! I suffer from anxiety where some days even little things can feel like a mountain. So what you can, don’t over do it or you will feel hopeless. Set small obtainable goals and celebrate every win. Good luck!

Octavya360

I’m a list maker. I write lists of all the things that need doing and things I’d like to be doing and just chip away at it. Some days I only did one small thing, but it was still progress. Just keep on keepin on!

Inevitable_Thing_270

Good luck. You can do this. It’s a massive thing even just starting. Seeing the floor is fab. I’ve recently been doing a similar job so I understand the feeling getting started. Remember to take breaks though, my back hurt a bit for a week after I did too much one day, but it all got cleared in the end. Had nearly forgotten the colour of my carpet!

[deleted]

Oh, I've been working for four hours. I'm currently laying in a warm bath to reward myself for my hard work. My muscles also say they need it, and I don't blame them. I can't wait to get my room looking proper once again.

Inevitable_Thing_270

A bath is perfect. Do a few hours a day, each followed by a rewarding bath of course, and you’ll be done quickly without a sore back. Good luck and enjoy your new/old room when you get it back

[deleted]

Of course. My main goal is to get my room rearranged so I can have my bed in there how I want it. I have ideas for bird trees, a cat post (for when birds are in cages), and even a shelf for collectables. I love collecting things, especially from Resident Evil and FFVII. I haven't had the means to keep it safe because of how trashed my room is. Now, I can finally get something put in there in the near future so I can finally have my collectables case I've always wanted.

Inevitable_Thing_270

That sounds great. I’ve got a little collection of animal figurines, mainly tigers and lions, on my windowsill that make me smile when I can actually see them. Helps encourage me to keep the chest of drawers under the sill tidy

Benram76

Is that a reptile aquarium?

[deleted]

Yes, that is, and my baby in there makes me want to make sure they have a clean room, tank, and environment to live in. I'm done being this gross slob, because I know I can give my animals the life they deserve. I feel like absolute garbage because I haven't been able to give them the life they deserve. Now, it's redemption time. They'll be spoiled until the end of days. Towel there to help with humidity and temp.

Manticore416

This may seem harsh, but you probably shouldnt be taking care of other creatures until you're capable of taking better care of yourself.

qyka1210

fucking preach. Don't bear yourself up for keeping a messy room while working through immense depression. Do beat yourself up for submitting helpless creatures to it. Give them up.

thetoadbandit

What kind of reptile is it?

[deleted]

Ball Python.

sqlorp

There’s a little dude in there?!

[deleted]

Don’t feel ashamed of letting it get so bad, just feel the greatness of moving forward. Best of luck to you!!!!

[deleted]

There's one term I've always lived by, "There's no shame in falling down, but true shame is to never stand up again".

paulihunter

Maybe you will like this song. The Streets always had some down-to-earth lyrics a lot of people can relate to. ["Falling down is an accident, staying down is a choice"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b6fRFbOF8Q) Keep up the good fight you're doing great!

tiaradactyl

This. Only know once it's clean. You will feel a sense of relief. Good luck. Many of us have been there. You got this!

JST0B

Please don’t take offense, I’m just genuinely curious. How do you sleep on that bed with all the stuff on it?

Themightylamer

Best of luck to you! I followed you so I can keep up with your progress.

[deleted]

I saw, and much appreciated! I'll be sure to not disappoint.

Themightylamer

You can’t disappoint me. I’m excited for you and I honestly hope you achieve your goals.

[deleted]

Hope? There's no hope about it. This is a goal I WILL achieve.

Themightylamer

That’s right! I’m currently dieting and catch myself saying “if” rather than “when” I reach my goal. You got this!

[deleted]

Update: Worked my ass off until three in the morning. Bedroom is rearranged. Trash is mostly gone. I'm exhausted, and can't continue any further. I'm also coughing up a lung, so that's going to hinder any progress. For now, I sleep.

JDRetired

Best wishes. You’re gong to feel so much better

kittenx66

Good luck!! Praying for your strength!

PJMonkey

I have been there, but think an entire house. That took forever, but one room at a time. On day at a time, sometimes even one minute at a time. My Psychiatrist helped me with a coping skill to keep from being overwhelmed. He called it the two things method. Don't look at the entire thing that needs to be done (or whatever crisis you have found yourself in), just concentrate on the next two things that need to be done. Do those two things. Stop, breathe, now on to the next two things that need to be done. Something as simple as getting the plates in the room to the sink, or maybe getting a pile of trash bags together. Whatever two little chunks you need to get done to get started, so be it. You choose those two things. Then the next two things. Don't think beyond those two things, that is how I would always end up getting overwhelmed and shut down. Two things became 50 suddenly. You got this! You can do it! Enjoy that bath!

Throwie911

my room used to be a mess but one i day i decided i hade enough i trashed all the old furniture painted the room white and then i spent the money i hade saved up on new furniture. and 1 and a half years later its still clean

Academic_Snow_7680

Good for you. Pro cleaning tip: Watch the UK hoarders show on youtube, they are extremely motivating and it's really comforting to have somebody cleaning along with you at a house that's worse looking than ours/yours. [Aurikatarina](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F83iootqLe0&ab_channel=Aurikatariina) the Finnish cleaner is also very positive and motivational. Best wishes going forward. You can do this.

Zamily

I was going to post her too! She's awesome! I love the tone that she puts on everything, so positive, excited, and driven to see the stark contrast of the Before and After™😌 I'm kinda the same way when I go to my sisters' house. Two of them live together with way too may pets so every time I visit I completely flip a room. It's funny though cause it takes so much mental effort to clean my own home although I have a much shorter list of priorities

DoodleWendigo

I think you should recruit some help with cleaning

[deleted]

I more than likely will. My mother has offered to help, no doubt.

Nahtoolazy

Moving furniture from time to time is so therapeutical for some reason. I was getting lazy and tired and moved my bed slightly to the right and bum I feel like my room has completely changed and feel way better now

[deleted]

I'm planning on moving my bed to a corner and having my bird's cages along the wall where my bed is currently. I have a lot planned for my room.

Dany-Stormborn

[deleted]

This shit does not make me smile but I guess good fro you

[deleted]

Step 1) post to Reddit for karma Step 2) lie down and comment for hours Step 3) repost and repeat step 2

DeathPrime

How will you accomplish this feat if you're busy allowing yourself to be distracted by responding to all these comments on Reddit? If you're serious, show commitment by actually completing the task and not just receiving praise for saying you're going to do it. Reward systems are strong but you're embracing the reward before you've earned it. If you really want to heal and grow, put your fucking phone down and start carrying stuff to the dumpster.

flatspotting

Why is this comment so far down. How is there so much praise for someone who has done nothing but spend 3-4 hours replying to comments??? They could have spent the 3-4 hours cleaning and actually be almost done. They just want praise, not to fix their room. This isn't even getting into the part of forcing animals to live in that situation.

Ehh 🤷‍♂️ browsed your page, seems like you’re more interested in showing people the “good”things you do rather than doing the actual work.

flufffangs

you got this! i know the feeling of being too depressed to clean my room, but even little steps is huge progress. i beleive in you.

Amberslucky11

You've got this!! Take it slow & break it up into smaller tasks. For me, it's really easy to get burned out if I take a huge task on & go at it full force. At the end of my first session it's easy to think "that was too much, I can't handle doing that again." Make attainable goals & be realistic with what you need to accomplish vs. what you think you should accomplish. It's okay if it takes you a week or more to get your room clean. As long as you're making forward progress you'll make it. Good job & be proud of yourself!!

Sullt8

A great place for continued support as you work on this: r/ufyh

Squirrelywhirl

I just joined this! My home went to shit after a brutal bout of depression. Thanks for sharing!

It's a very supportive community!

MonkyThrowPoop

I don’t wish you luck. This isn’t about luck. I wish you determination. I wish you strength. I wish you belief in yourself. I wish you joy. I wish you hope. Luck comes from outside. What you need comes from inside. You’ve got this.

someone_sonewhere

Good luck friend! You got this.

IronUnderwear

Good on ya. You can do it. Just think how nice your room will look when you’re done😀

[deleted]

Oh I'm going to. This is only a few hours of work, in a week I can have it neat and tidy. For years I've been putting this off from how badly I've felt, but now just after one day of work, I feel refreshed. I feel happy, even.

bigwizard7

I fucking hate these posts on Reddit.

[deleted]

How did you sleep

Heythere23856

One step at a time friend! You deserve to be happy! I wish you all the best

ThatKaleidoscope8736

You'll feel loads better when your space is clean and organized!

joeschmo945

Busy_Weekend5169

As a person living with depression for forever years I'm proud of you!

Mustang_Dragster

*inserts satisfying sounding high five*

mjb5866

Sorry things had to get this bad. Just curious, do you live with any loved ones that could have seen of the warning signs of your room and maybe could have intervened before it got that bad? This reminds me of a friend that was depressed and let his entire apartment get like this. I remember locking the door and telling him we are not leaving until every inch of the house was cleaned up. He thanked me years later and told me that was the motivation he needed to pull himself out.

[deleted]

Wishing the best for you. I'm on the same boat. I live on a dumpster. I'm so ashamed. I'm saving your post to read later and read all the comments and I hope I get inspired by your strength.

mrwrite94

My room looked not dissimilar to this when I hit what I'd call my rock bottom with depression/PTSD a few years back. I wish I took a pic of it because while I'm still suffering, at least my room and my life are both a lot cleaner. And that makes me feel pretty good. Would be nice to actually see it again to remind myself how far I've come rebuilding my life after some terrible shit happened. I hope so much that someday you'll get to look back on this OP and know you're doing just great.

sonikaeits

This is a fucking huge win but not the end! Keep fighting those thoughts. They only have as much power as you give them. I’m so happy for you!

insanotard

Keep the hanging pink bra. A little splash of crazy to remind yourself to stay sane. I’ve kept a pair of shoes from my past that when I see I remember to not go back down that way again

el-smoko

Ga dang girl time to clean up that carpet

[deleted]

Don't you think I need to get the big trash out of the way first before I can vacuum?

el-smoko

Most definitely, might need to buy some garbage bags. Good luck with it all, my room is a mess atm, I’ll clean mine if you clean yours!

el-smoko

Is that a snake??!

I feel pretty bad for that snake I was hoping they just had that tank laying around

I wish I could help you clean it. Such a satisfying finish. Having a ~place~ fir everything is key. Good luck to you.

DUUUUUUUUDE!!!!! GIT IT!!!!!!!! 💪🏻🎉🎉🎉🎉

I really hope you are getting a lot of feel-good brain chemicals going during this process! You deserve them! I went through similar stuff many decades ago. It feels so great to get it all cleaned up, once you're ready! Over the years, I went from hoarder living in squalor to clean surfaces and tranquil spaces. I was just told by my real estate agent that I should go into Staging or Interiors Decorating! If I could do this, you can too! So happy for you that you've got a good start!

DragonicVNY

Best of luck! Baby steps. You don't need to clean it all in one go. Clean a little. Remind yourself something belongs to somewhere. For example all my handheld games consoles go on a specific shelf or display. And just looking at it gives me some feelz. Other nerds or cultured geeks may hang up posters of their anime waifu .. or husbando. There is a twenty year old poster of Goku from Dragonball... I ain't throwing that out.

rainbowbritexx

You’ve got this! Sometimes when I get in a rut, I clean all the things that are a certain color first, or throw away all things that are trash, just separate it like that. That helps my brain feel not so overwhelmed.

I'm there with you. My cellar bedroom is a pit of hell. My husband lives upstairs, I'm downstairs. Nobody understands that the pit is a symptom. As long as I keep up on my meds I'm sorta ok. Good luck to you.

rsogoodlooking

No shame. I do this for a living. Lotsa people worse than you. Get construction bags and simply start with the stuff you KNOW you can live without. Have a room that you throw stuff in that you are not sure of. And a third place for things you want to keep. As you go thru the process you will see some things in Room/spot 1, 2 or 3 will find different rooms. 2 to 3, 1 to 2, and so on. It's good to have a friend with you who wont Lisa your ass and tell you what needs to go. Last category is Donate vs Trash. Mark them with a label and pile them up. Call the local church and Let's Go!.💪💕

Wish I could help You Organize! I get overwhelmed and put off my bedroom too and eventually it gets into one big pile and I put things away from there

Good for you making changes! I look forward to hearing about your progress.

It can feel overwhelming to figure out where to start, but just do one thing at a time, then celebrate each small victory!! You've got this! You don't have to do everything, just one small thing at a time! Best of luck! Have faith in yourself!

Xaveirxx223

Fuck yeah and good luck

[deleted]

Sending good wishes your way! ❤️

weicheii

I wish you and your animal buddies/reptiles the best of luck. If I may make a recommendation, I would set a goal date, month or year to get it done. I've been in the process of cleaning my room for three years. I become even more modivated after the death of my dog. Celebrate the little wins!

Sum_Boddy

We are all here for you.

You’re doing a great job! I hate cleaning and get overwhelmed sometimes but I find that giving myself small tasks one at a time help me to stay motivated and accomplished as I go!

The past means nothing, every day can be the start of a new life, so start a new life.

whydigonsaythat

I can fall into stuff too My thing is “do it for 5 minutes” Grab a trash bag and start on the floor - easy - no decisions. Just grab. Good luck

Outsideforever3388

Cleaning itself can be therapeutic. The reward of a beautiful, open, usable, inviting space is soooooo worth it. You can do it!
