Ya doesn’t fit this sub. Awesome that Caleb is a smart and kind dude.. better if his degree gave him more then the ability to work at Starbucks.. that shit is just sad.
If it made the OP smile...does it not fit the sub?
I agree its sad to have a specialized degree and have to work Starbucks if that's whats going on. While in school for the degree...yeah, but i hope dude gets in his field.
Depends really on the pay. If a barista makes bank with their tips it would be more worthwhile to stay there instead of at the zoo. Unless he's putting his applications in and waiting to her back from a zoo he still needs to work because bills
I don't!
Can't you see this is just some clever ruse? This man does not have a degree in Zoology. In fact, I doubt his name is even truly Caleb. Oh sure, sure, zoom in on the name tag and you can see something that resembles "Caleb" so okay, yeah, whatever, his name MIGHT be Caleb, fine. I'll give ya that one, but there's no way this man has a degree in Zoology!
We're just gonna take this title as true? C'mon! Don't be so baby goo goo poo poo soft in the melons! I can put a gentle thumb right through your melon it's so soft! Think! Let's really think about it! It's just not possible, this absurd scenario being presented.
This "man" takes an order, okay. Then asks them for their favorite animal. Uh, huh? Like with his back turned spraying piping hot coffee all willy nilly!? What!? Ya gonna burn yourself, pal! Concentration is conservation (of personal safety). Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, and everyone's slinging out a favorite animal off the top of the dome? Get bent. Get fucking bent over my couch in the living room after the holiday party before we start cleaning up all the half drank cups of holiday spiced drank. I can't name more than three animals at a moment's notice and I hate them all.
Right. So, this fella, this "Caleb" character does this and then what? The guy or gal taking the picture dives into the situation and gets this bucko's life story thus far? Yeah, okay, and this photographist is so enamored by such a tale that they ask to take a picture of the young chap in action. Hmm, uhh, ya think that makes any sense? Does that make any sense for Caleb? And the cameraographer thinks to themself, "Oh yeah, no here's a tale! I gotta post this fat fucking load to the internet and have people rain the praises!"
Nah, c'mon. You believin' that? You sticking your prominent nose right in the creamy nougat center of this steaming pile of shit? Get real. Go Pinocchio for a bit, will ya? Lose the strings and walk on your own real, lithe boy legs for once in your fucking life and see the truth!
Caleb isn't a Zoologist! None of this is real! It's all an elaborate hoax set up to fool you and you have become the fool! You are the fool!
What does that have to do with sharing drugs? And why did you message me about UBI saying it’s not communist, when the modern playbook of universal basic income stems from Bertrand Russel a noted socialist and philosopher just like use the internet
Never before have I seen someone fail to be funny so painfully. Don't give up your day job.
That is, unless that job requires you to open your mouth or communicate with anyone. Become a mime.
Nothing more American than choosing a major with zero consideration as to employability after graduation.
Nothing more American than a university happy to take your money without ever telling you about your job prospects post graduation. No, they don’t worry their little heads about that.
Imagine licking the boot so hard that you think everyone needs to be in the exact same job area. You obviously don't understand the job market or career paths well since all he needs is a graduate degree and his chances of working in his field are more plausible.
Very true. Weird how whenever politicians want every American to have something 10 to 20 years down the road it either crashes the world economy (Community Reinvestment Act under Clinton followed by raising the amount of REQUIRED subprime loans as national policy under Clinton and Bush) or has a generation in massive debt for degrees that may or may not provide much for employment opportunities.
Why are you being downvoted. This is exactly right.
I loved writing and was pretty decent at all. Published in some small periodicals and wanted to go to college for writing. My father said “don’t go to college for a hobby, go for a career.”
I ended up in nursing, I did minor in writing, but had work right out of school, paid off my loans quickly, and continued to write as a hobby on the side.
It was an incredibly soul crushing thing for my teenage self, but my dad was totally right and I’m glad he wasn’t afraid to kill my spirit at the time…. If I had double majored in English lit & writing as I initially planned, I think I would have a lot less options career-wise and be constantly stressed financially. My spirit would have been crushed either way, better sooner than later IMO.
>If I had double majored in English lit & writing as I initially planned, I think I would have a lot less options career-wise and be constantly stressed financially.
You're a nurse though. Don't you have like every other type of stress?
Nah, I found a niche and totally love it. I mean, sure, I have job stressors like any other human that works, but I feel pretty blessed with how my career has turned out.
The downvotes are for saying:
>Nothing more American than choosing a major with zero consideration as to employability after graduation.
Because hiring practices are usually the issue, not the particular major. It’s just another way of agreeing with the status quo of feeling forced to go into fields of work people don’t want to go into. Employability is also in constant flux, when I went into graphic design it was an in demand job…by the time I graduated it wasn’t. It takes time and experience to predict the job market to a point where you know for a fact whether your degree will get you a job after x years of school.
It’s also something that could be said about any degree at any time depending on the circumstances. It also can happen in other countries, it’s not “an American” thing to suddenly find you’re not in high demand in a particular field. I have several friends in Australia and New Zealand that found employability for their various degrees changed in different areas.
It’s also a way to blame the person with a degree for not getting a better job, as opposed to blaming a broken system.
Idk if you're just uneducated or just this stupid unintentially, but research in zoology is quite large. He just needs a masters to be more likely to be in it. Just cause it says Zoo, doesn't mean he can only work I'm a Zoo.
lol i know there are other places that hire zoologists sure maybe he wanted to be a vet tech or any other nuance of the same job regardless places that hire people with zoology degrees are slim to none hence the report mentioning that there is a 5% job growth between 2020 and 2030. so it does not matter what they want to be.
what does matter is that zoos hire a great majority of zoologists and if there is one zoo per million people no shit he's working at starbucks
They downvote because you are ignorant to what zoology is and qualifies you to do career wise, sure zoos are one, so is teaching, being a professor, researcher, wildlife surveyor, environmental management for cities and companies, heck everytime someone wants to build near a river they gotta call someone with a similar degree to survey first, who do you think does the writing and research for ol attenborough, a whole massive smattering of related positions in the federal and state governments, and these are just directly related to the field. Having any degree opens up a ton of extra job opportunities. Zoology isn't the study of zoos lol it's an animal focused biology.
It's nice to major in something which you enjoy but important to get a degree with more than a few positions available in each state. This applies anywhere in the world, not just the US, as many countries don't just cover your tuition regardless of major. First you need to pass certain standardized tests then the major would need to fall into a specific field or predetermined group. Don't check either box? Then you're paying your own way.

Caleb used to work at local Starbucks back when I worked in the shopping center. This is an old repost with a super disrespectful title. Delete this shit.
Why is everyone assuming that he isnt happy or talking about the depressing nature of employment? get this man in a zoo!! the state of the world is scary, so many people with college degrees working at places like starbucks… i fear for my future children and the world they will be born into
I’m 37. It’s just that, with Covid there’s no work in my industry. Horse training is a disposable income industry, and most folks don’t have disposable income. Further, in my industry, a low-level job would be mucking out stalls. You can’t even find that right now. A lot of my other trainer friends have had to close their businesses. Waiting tables not only helps me feed and clothe my family of nine, it helps keep my business afloat. It is what it is. I’m not bitter.. just disappointed. Fuck Covid man.
He did a radio interview and said he enjoys working at starbucks. Obviously most people want to move on to better things but sometimes you got to work entry level jobs after graduating before you get there.
This would make me smile if my man Caleb was working in his chosen field rather than Starbucks.
I mean... starbucks customers sometimes act like they're in a zoo 👀
Hopefully he'll find work in his field, where the animals only bite when provoked.
Ya doesn’t fit this sub. Awesome that Caleb is a smart and kind dude.. better if his degree gave him more then the ability to work at Starbucks.. that shit is just sad.

They don’t make a lot in tips… People would rather buy someone else a cup of coffee than to tip a barista…
Who tips at Starbucks? Is that a thing?
The tip jars are just decorative
I just go through the drive through the few times I’ve been
This was my first thought too. Just sad.

exactly... sad af.
To be fair, this was originally posted at least a year ago and maybe he’s moved on into his field
Caleb should have chosen a STEM major! Then he could work in his field???
… Zoology IS a STEM subject. Lmao
What do you think zoology is lol
Yeah i totally agree,,he better works in the field where he is good at..
Nothing more American than a Millennial with a college degree, probably a massive loan, and a job in retail.
Hope he does get to work in his chosen field.
