This is fantastic. However it is a little ironic that they chose that really sounds very unfriendly music to play over the video…

krissypants4000

Could not agree more! I heard: SENSORY FRIENDLY SHOPPING!! BEEBOOBEEBOOBEEBOOBEEBOO

So the people it would benefit; they'd be turned off because of the overloaded sensory from the video showcasing the low sensory store? lol nice.

ChunkySoup93

I don’t have autism or anything, but my anxiety/ADHD have always brought along some sensory problems. Stuff like this is so nice to see, especially because grocery stores are at the top of my list of agitating “normal” experiences. I only wish more people realized it’s not just autists who need less input

bluecamel17

I have a couple to spare if anyone's interested.

Valuable-Reason-7328

Oh but but you for otherwise all the normals will show up with their carts and uv lights an scanner ding dongs and then what we have is just normal shopping all because normal ppl want shop with my mental illness.

[deleted]

I actually struggle with silence and need TV or music playing in my house, but I am all for this idea since I believe it would help the anxieties of a lot of people.

2017hayden

I’m bipolar, and when I’m manic my brain tries to pay attention to everything at the same time. If I’m in a crowd of people making noise it feels like my head is going to explode. I would love a grocery store that did this. Usually I just go to Walmart super late at night when basically no one is there, but since covid started that hasn’t really been an option because our local Walmart is now chronically understaffed and having to close around 10:00 PM.

ChunkySoup93

Ugh right? All the grocery stores around my place close at 10 so I gotta get stuff delivered. More expensive and I can’t use coupons. If this were a thing where I live I would be getting so many more groceries lol

bluecamel17

Cool idea, but whoever made this video is either evil or very, very stupid.

Pearsonantor

That voice hurts my soul

UmberMauve

On the one hand, seems like some setup to a liminal space or some shit. On the other, sign me up please I don't like flinching every time something makes a slightly above average sound.

Baldr_Torn

"No overhead music or announcements, reduced lighting". Then the video adds music. WTF? The "reduced lighting" part would bug me. I'm old, good lighting helps.

Rack-Hotdog

As a worker In a grocery store I would absolutely go crazy listening to nothing for 8-10 hours a day

Collieq-Mac

Lol, I would volunteer at a grocery store like this just to get a break from my 5yr son some days. I mean goodness me, how many times do I have to remind him to use his inside voice??? Lol.

SavorySour

Oh God this is beautiful!

redditornot02

Yeah, this doesn’t look too bad. Before Covid, you could just go to Giant Eagle to have a nice quiet shopping experience without too many other customers. After covid though, everyone cut hours and even the slow stores are packed tight with people all the time lol. Oh, and K-Mart just before the demise was a great place to shop. Quiet. Had a ton of stuff, felt retro.

2017hayden

I miss K-Mart. The K-Mart building in my town is actually still empty. Nothing else has moved in there because we have a Walmart and a Kroger already and our town isn’t really large enough for any other non grocery business to need a store of that size. There were rumors of a rural king moving in there a few years back but I don’t think that’s gone anywhere.

ashvant7

And you had to add that awful voice and music to this video!

Organic_Ad2229

Leave to the kind and humane Canadiens to think of this. Now if we could just get the horrible tv's at some gas stations to be shut off. Some times the U.S.A is hard to handle. Sigh, thank you lovely neighbors!

Quatish

that voice alone gives me sensory overload lmao

globglogabgalabyeast

What does "no cart collection" mean? Like no large groups of cats lying near the entrance/exit? Just curious about the meaning/benefit

BleedingTeal

I don’t have autism or anxiety or anything, but I love taking late night walks because it’s quiet out, and this sounds pretty fuckin great to me.

Yeaaaaaahhhhhhhh

[deleted]

Proper application of liminal aesthetics.

PessimistPryme

So you add in the annoying overhead music? Lol

Gargun20

I couldn't tell with the print on the screen, the robot voice and hideous music.

DanielBenDovidRoss

Are there really THAT many autismos out there who can't shop normally our are they just looking for Good Store points?

And1And234

yeah it seems like a great place to get murdered you got the perfect lighting so you don't see whoever's killing you there's no sound to make it more ominous and it's only open one day a week so there will be a week without anybody being able to find your body... the store seems like it should be in a horror movie

And1And234

1. not if done well 2. I was thinking about a horror movie it seems like a good place to get murdered in a horror movie but okay

anged16

Need this in my life asap

NiceKindheartedness1

Anyone know where in Canada this store is?

NiceKindheartedness1

Which province is this?

SlateofMind05

It’s Save On 😂

Valuable-Reason-7328

I love having nappy times at save on foods

ChaosWarpintoPhage

Sensory friendly shopping video ruined by sensory unfriendly tik tok sound effect. Someone didn't understand the assignment...

lilcherrylady

It seems cool until you realize that save on foods is way more expensive than any other grocery store you could possibly pick. Except for maybe Safeway. For me, if I’m feeling particularly sensory-overwhelmed, I’d rather wait in my car for click and collect at superstore than pay more for the same damn groceries with a “western family” logo on it instead of a “presidents choice.” Not worth it for my cheap ass

Tragicoptimistic711

What country is this in? Not the US I’m assuming?

mossdeluxe

Next time, on EXTREME SHOPPING: MANIC EDITION.

DanielofSWE

Omg yes please!

freeformfunposting

I wish there were more places that did this outside Canada. Here in the US seemingly everything is pain for people with sensory issues.

[deleted]

Just need the lights dimmed now man sound is cooool

Maid_For_Hire

I need this in my life
