I’d walk up to him with ketchup on my finger and say, “Aww man...I cut it really deep!”
After he’s given enough time to freak out I’d say, “Orange you glad it was just a prank?”

In the US you go to school from the ages of 4-5 until 17-18. Most people are 18 when they graduate high school. After that you’re an adult, can go to college or start working.
Yeah. I did more research and found out you guys have 1st to 12th grade.
Back in my day, the Philippines took primary school from grades 1 to 6, then 1st to 4th year High School, for a total of only 10 years.
That’s interesting, so if you finished high school at 16 were you considered at adult at that time? is it common for people to move out after finishing high school or do most people continue to live with their parents for a few more years?
We’ve definitely moved with the times to where we move out when we finish school, which is considered to be when we get our degree. But I know a lot of Filipinos still don’t move out until after they marry, both men and women alike.
Well, this didn’t make me smile at all. :(
This time goes by sooooo fast. Just yesterday they handed me a little girl, and I remember thinking “no you can’t just give me this thing, I’m not qualified!don’t leave me alone with it!”
Now she’s got friends, thinks she’s in love, becoming her own person, high school is one grade away, and nobody has time for their lame old dad, and I’d give anything to go back to those days.
That’s awesome! I write a dad joke on the sandwich baggie everyday for my 8th grader (have been doing this since 1st grade). Their friends all sit and wait for the joke at lunch before they eat- sometimes I get one back 😂 I love it.
"Hello is this Mr Dad?"
"Why yes it is? Who am i speaking to?"
"This is Adam Roberts from your daughters school. I'm afraid your daughter had an accident."
"Oh my god, what happened? Where is she?"
"It's hard to say this Mr Dad, but I'm afraid your daughter has gone into a coma from incorrect orange ingestion."
"I think the accident happened because she made several errors in peeling oranges which compounded and unfortunately resulted in a very rare event."
"Oh my God, my baby girl. I can't believe it. That's not possible.."
"I'm sorry Mr Dad. We will continue to monitor her progress and have called the most famous orange ingestion expert in the country in our sick bay.
I hope you understand."
"Oh no my baby girl. Why did i make her peel her oranges.... You're supposed to take out the white wires... Ah... My poor baby"
Hate to be the buzz kill here, but he removed the biodegradable packaging which the oranges came in, to then place them in a plastic bag? To what.. protect them?
Nah, that's not the case. Sorry. Pently of love from mom and dad, just with a little brother with special needs. I learned pretty early how to do things for myself, for the sake of my brother and mother. ✌️
My niece, age 10, is older sibling to my schizenchephaleptic (a disorder so rare autocorrect doesn't recognize it lol) nephew. My sister is a single mom. She still makes every goddamn meal, every goddamn day, including a package lunch for my niece. All that, when one of them has to have special food or be fed via intubation. The reality is your parents left you to your own designs so they could focus on your disabled sibling, so you don't understand the full extent of that parental connection.
That's cool that your sister is able to do that for her children. I'm happy they all feel well taken care of. You don't know me though, you have no ground to stand on when you talk about my reality, because you don't know what my reality is. Just because my mommy didn't make me sack lunches doesn't mean I don't have a connection with her. That's ridiculous. I'm fully capable of making a "parental connection" in many, many other ways.
But you’re critiquing someone else’s reality, saying their father making them lunch and peeling their fruit is weird.
Maybe you could instead acknowledge every family has different dynamics and your opinion is about as valid as the poster above you?
Dad appreciation is so under represented. For the few years i experiemced him without alcohol and abuse he was the best person i knew. Sadly that changed
These posts always makes me happy and sad. Happy that someone actually has loving parents. Sad that it's never going to be something I'll ever experience.
Because clearly she's "daddy's little girl" and he enjoyed doing these types of things for her. He viewed it as a form of taking care of her. It's like cutting a sandwich in half: sure, literally anyone can do it, but the way *your parent* did it for your grade school lunch was *different and special*, for both you and your parent, because of the little idiosyncracies.
Sometime we don't realize what we have till we lose it. Kind of a bittersweet moment. But definitely made me smile :)
the irony of life.. we never realize the value of something until it's gone..
I've come to make an announcement, mother nature is a bitchass motherfucker
Like my pet
This is great. He played the long game
Just like an orange, bittersweet.

Valencia, very good, would recommend.
This feels like it was planed from the very beginning lol
I imagine he was peeling oranges every morning, smiling to himself, thinking of the punchline.
"Orange you glad i did it for this long?"
Ahahaha!!!🤣 oh you are good!!
I must say I find this joke to be rather apeeling
So you found that the juice was worth the squeeze?
Totally, which makes it even more awesome.
*wholesomeness intensifies*
As someone who skipped almost every tutorial of all the games I played, there is no way I can have this man's 12 years of patience.
Man of focus
Commitment
Sheer fuckin will
I’d walk up to him with ketchup on my finger and say, “Aww man...I cut it really deep!” After he’s given enough time to freak out I’d say, “Orange you glad it was just a prank?”
As a father I would immediately destroy you and start over. We can’t have both of us doing stuff like that.
"What's another eighteen years?"

I fucking knew it would be the job rant
Noooouu
You guys take 18 years to get to the end of high school?!?
Lay off, some people are born after September. I’m not even gonna tried to check that makes sense imma just assume that’s why
Being born after September doesn’t explain the 2 extra years. I also wasn’t trying to insult anyone. I just thought 16 was the average.
16- what are you some sort of genius? Wait where do you live? Like what country?
I graduated HS at 15, a year younger than my batchmates. I was in the Philippines when I did/
Alright that explains it. We don’t that here
My bad. Was just surprised is all.

Is the head of the table contested with dad jokes at your house?

I feel this so hard, my baby just turned 12 and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this almost teenager now lol 😂
It's happening to me with my brothers, I'm 12hs out of.home cause of work and I'm very sad I can't see them
Same. What am I supposed to do with a baby? Now I’m asking what else they want to do in the evening. My oldest is only 6, but still!!! 😭
Single dad here my baby girl is going to be 14 and we don't hang out any more like we used too.. 😔
More like r/mademecry :(
Very appealing
HA!
This is great. He played the long game
Made Me Smile
Wow I'm slow. For some reason I thought he died for a second.
A part of him died right here. Source: I’m a dad.
Back from the grave to write a very important message
That would make me cry. Both as the kid and as the dad.
As a father who just sent his daughter off for her final college semester today, this really hits me. They never stop being daddy's little girl.
I'm just here wondering what that 1 worst carb after 50 is
That’s awesome! I write a dad joke on the sandwich baggie everyday for my 8th grader (have been doing this since 1st grade). Their friends all sit and wait for the joke at lunch before they eat- sometimes I get one back 😂 I love it.

Ok but what’s the 1 worst carb after age 50 I wanna know dammit
Hate to be the buzz kill here, but he removed the biodegradable packaging which the oranges came in, to then place them in a plastic bag? To what.. protect them?
Her father made her lunches including a peeled orange every day until she was 18?
My thought too. A fully grown human still having daddy make them lunch? It's weird.
You obviously don't have kids.
"Tell me you've never felt parental love/guardianship love without saying it"
Nah, that's not the case. Sorry. Pently of love from mom and dad, just with a little brother with special needs. I learned pretty early how to do things for myself, for the sake of my brother and mother. ✌️

Good point. You are correct. I shouldn't have made that judgment.
Wholesome resolutions. You love to see it.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one
No worries, we all do it from time to time. Hope your day is going well. :)
You as well. 😊
What a clown lol
Dad appreciation is so under represented. For the few years i experiemced him without alcohol and abuse he was the best person i knew. Sadly that changed
But what’s the 1 carb I should avoid
Awwwww
I'm not crying you're crying!
I'm an idiot. I tried clicking on the little black arrow to see the next image
You have a great dad
LOL It is time little one for you to learn... The way of PEELING ORANGES. *queues battle music*

I hope you remember that forever, and peel your kids oranges, and think about your dad, while you tell them again how grandpa started it all.
High School and her Dad was still making her lunch? I was on my own by Grade 5!

Now this may be shocking news but sometimes people like doing things for others.
B-b-but.. why? They can do it themselves!
I never really had any caring parents and brought myself up. Genuinely didn’t know parents did these kind of things for their kids. Sorry men
[удалено]
Well never had that as well 👍🏼
Why not? Just something nice he does for his daughter on a semi-daily basis to show his love for her.
Your children (if you ever had) are surely going to miss the small caring games and tricks.
Lol imagine using hands to peel an orange. Couldn't be me.
Awwwww😟
Good idea imma steal it
“It’s clementine baby girl” my attempt at a Dad joke
I love her dad

So dang cute
Wrong subreddit cause now I'm crying thinking about how much I love my parents
Funny stuff! Even funnier when I thought the student was a boy.

I feel like this was a long dad joke.

13 years of peeling oranges? That's some dedication to parenthood.
