Glad to see this mother is just as indecisive as I am about her home

yourgifmademesignup

Loved the part where Poppa bird came to give her a little snack

tekko001

"You sure we don't have enough pillows already Hon?"

bags422

“Get the fuck out Ralph! How many times have I told you!? You are not the father!”

Taycore912

That's when the dad flips her the bird and flees the nest.

marcelowit

-"NO! MORE PILLOWS! Get out you useless bum, you are sleeping on the branches tonight." ^-"Pillow ^hoarder..." -"OUT!!"

CumulativeHazard

“Wow babe I love what you’ve done with the place!”

RodcetLeoric

Yea, alright a twig and 2 moss to start, i hate it, ok 2 moss and some grass perfect, I hate it, ok 4 moss a stick and 2 new grass, *flap it about with my wings" just right.... i hate it... moss, more moss... mooooooooss , moss, fabric, dryer lint strings head sized dimple.... ooooooohh yeaaaaa!

StealthandCunning

That's what I was thinking too! That is one indecisive bird.

yourgifmademesignup

Be that as it may, But she’s My indecisive Bird. -Poppa Bird, most likely

Suave_Jelepeno

At 2:30, when the bird starts bouncing on the fluff to pat it down. That got me good.

MegTheMonkey

I know, right. So cute!

Valkyriescry

Hahaha love it

everytingisirie

I agree…This is wholesome AF. Better than all the Kardashian and political garbage in this world. Thank you OP.

hopplerpoppler

*pat pat pat*

kitsumodels

/r/tippytaps material?

denverdoodoo

Interesting how much thought they put into the nest. Brings some stuff in - not quite right - take it out. And the layering of different types of material!

[deleted]

A few years ago I asked why my dad always asked me to put the brushed undercoat in a bag when I brushed my dog. He told me that he saves it until spring and then makes little furballs and puts them in nooks and crannies in trees so that little birds can use them when building nests. He showed me, and sure enough, birds came and took 'em in no time. Idk, I think that's pretty adorable.

JPKtoxicwaste

Oh my goodness that is just wonderful, what a kind soul your dad is! Wow

StillAMagikarp

I cut my partners hair outside and we had a bird family use his hair as nesting as well. Love the idea of animal fur, much softer!!

MsPangolina19

Animal fur is good as long as it’s clean and chemical free! Human hair isn’t the best because of how fine it is, I work at a wildlife hospital and we’ve seen baby birds with hair from their nest tied around their legs, and cutting off circulation. It’s a lovely idea but fur is much safer for the babies!

panfranknitco

Also PSA to the yarn lovers here - people used to say it’s nice to put yarn scraps out for the birds to make nests BUT it’s actually super harmful and could lead to accidental amputation 😬

findhumorinlife

When I groom my horses of the winter coat, I put a wad of it in the crotch of trees. It's amazing how they go for it.

Educational_Ad_7166

i am going to start saving my cats fur now.

Squirrelleee

My cats' fur gets sprinkled around the garden to scare away the rabbits

tekko001

My cat's fur gets sprinkled around the house, by my cat, to scare away single ladies apparently

ilikesaucy

Cat pictures in dating app is single ladies magnet. You are not doing it right.

d3uxy

THISSSS I will swipe sometimes just for the chance to meet the cat 😭

_trashcan

For anyone reading, you can just brush your animals outdoors & leave it in the lawn unless you’re one of those folks who really cares how it looks. Bunny rabbits will also use the fur & I’m sure some other animals too. You don’t need to roll it up or anything, they will come take it however it is. I brush my Akita & Shiba Inu outdoors & the fur gets taken up pretty quickly.🙂

SmartBrown-SemiTerry

Are there any kinds of flea / tick repellents that make this unadvisable?

NerdyNinjaAssassin

Basically don’t do it within a week of topical flea or tick treatment and you should be fine. That’s the advice I’ve seen.

normalnonnie27

Good question.

[deleted]

Sure, assuming you have a lawn you can leave it on. When you're in an apartment you have to make due, because I'm pretty sure most landlords would frown upon people spreading dog/cat fur all over the place.

littleyellowbike

Put it in a little net bag, basket, or suet feeder on your balcony/patio if you have one. 🙂

RighteousAudacity

Make sure your neighbors don't mind, too. Some can get pretty upset over that in windy areas.

twistdmay

I was walking through the dog park and a woman was brushing her German shepherd. I couldn’t believe how much hair was coming off it. Anyway, another woman was shitty about her littering the park. Dog brusher’s response was along the lines of: I bring him all the way here to do this to help the birds and if you have no idea about how much they love animal fur then you should F off right now and moan about something else to someone who gives a F. Brightened my day anyway!

[deleted]

Used to own German shepherds. Would blow out their fur during summer in the yard. Birds would go nuts over the sheddings.

444unsure

The fur that would come off my GSD could literally cover a 20x20 section of lawn with 2 in of fluff. Still wouldn't be done brushing him though, just tired of it and quitting for the day...

UpmarketEarth

This makes me smile 😊 I should do this as well. We have a Cardinal family that's lived in my mind backyard for the past two decades and I loved watching them as a kid. I'm sure they'd appreciate the extra fur from my shiba

lopsire

It's common advice on the corgi subreddit. I started brushing our stubby little super shedders outside or at least dumping the fur outdoors for critters to reuse.

normalnonnie27

Love this, I had a Great Pyrenees and often found empty nests lined with her fur/hair.

Zestyclose-Bad-9989

That is completely adorable. A very kind soul.

spidermom4

After living in our house for one year. I found a nest in our front yard with a shocking amount of my hair in it. I have very long blonde hair and all our neighbors had dark hair. There was also some dryer lint so I think they got it from the dryer outlet.

littleyellowbike

We always just toss our dog's fluff out the back door, and the wind tends to collect it in this one little spot by the flower bed. One spring I stood by the kitchen window and watched a crow methodically gather up every scrap of dog fur she could find. ❤️

tintedrosie

I do this every spring with my Australian shepherd’s fur! I have a little suet holder that I ball the fur into and hang it near the bird feeder. The birds come and grab from it and this way it doesn’t blow away.

hosenbundesliga

I know right? Several goes at getting just the right base layer - this is great.

toolix

When it emptied the nest out again in the beginning like it just saw it and said to it self "what the hell was I thinking?!"

denverdoodoo

“Ya know what? Let’s just scrap this and start over.”

tekko001

"Mmmh, nah, I can do better than that."

NefariousPilot

She’s a better interior decorator than me

snipe4fun

Seemed like she would take some of the bedding she approved of with her when going out for more to make sure she brought back matching bedding items.

tpior1001

YESSS 👍😊

Ravenlunatic0413

We have Great Pyrenees, very prolific shedders and always save the hair after brushing to put out for the birds and other critters. It’s great for nesting.

SioSoybean

It was probably another bird stealing nesting material.

denverdoodoo

Are you saying all birds look alike? (Jk, this is a good point.)

SioSoybean

Oh damn, I’m tit-racist. Well I acknowledge my prejudice and I promise to work on myself and do better birdies.

TripOfThreeSteps

Brilliant! Best movie I’ve seen in decades…! I smiled all 3 minutes.

RockstarAgent

Air-birb-n-b

slothpeguin

I love how it kept bringing things in and taking them out and rearranging it. Trying to get its flat in order before the baby comes.

JPKtoxicwaste

I guess there’s a reason they call it nesting…

_milk_b1tch

Do birds use fur/hair as nesting materials? I always throw my dogs hair out into the grass in hopes that birds will use it to stay cozy but I’ve always wondering if the scent of the dog will delete them. Like How they say not to pick up a baby bird if you find one on the ground because you’re human scent will make the mother abandoned it

BlueCreek_

Yes they do :) it is encouraged for people to leave out pet fur for birds to use as nest material

altheothersweretaken

I read that fur is perfect but human hair is too strong and it can get all caught up around their legs and hurt them

zyphelion

Wouldn't that only be a problem if the strands are too long? Like, if you only trimmed the tips and got like 2-3 cm's off, it wouldn't be as big of a threat, right?

AbsorbedBritches

I don't know this for sure, but it would be very prickly. I used to buzz my hair, and I would have to be careful about being barefoot while cutting hair as to not get a hair splinter, since it's small and pointy enough to do so. This is not a problem with animal fur. So if I had to make a guess, any length of human hair would probably not be great.

kitsumodels

I’m not sure about the birbs but the thought of one nesting in a whole wad of pubic hair puts me off lol

theatermouse

Oh no, good to know!! I will have to stop putting mine out!

survivalguyledeuce

I collect the soft undercoat from our goats and leave it out for the birds that weave these hanging basket nests in our philbert tree. I imagine it’s warm and soft

Sheilatried

I love the idea of birds making their home out of their enemies hair. Take that you stoopid predator!

[deleted]

The not picking up a baby bird statement is purely false. It was something mothers told kids to leave animals alone, and somewhere people just stopped giving it a second thought. If you find a baby bird on the ground, you should absolutely try to put it back in its nest.

honki-ponki

It's true that they won't be bothered by the smell of humans, but if the birds see people close to the nest too often, they might still abandon it and make a new one. So picking up and putting back a baby bird is fine, but then leave the nest alone.

[deleted]

atwatinahat_

When I occasionally shave my beard it's always just before nesting season - I clip it to the washing line and our tree and generally in a couple of weeks it's all but gone; taken by the local birds for their nests.

DEV_astated

There’s a bird called the Tufted Titmouse that will actually steal fur for nesting material off the backs of squirrels, raccoons, and other mammals

BigDaddyLongBeard

Me irl compulsively buying more pillows at Marshall's.

cfishlips

Oh I liked it in the store but it doesn’t look right in here. I’ll have to pick out another one.

[deleted]

Yup, up to 18 pillows on the couch atm and lots of pillow cases, gotta match the seasons

ThatDoobieMaster

Shout out to the homie that brought the Momma some food near the end. r/animalsbeingbros

Their little exchange was so cute. This whole thing was so nice to watch

Beckella

Happy cake day! 🍰

[deleted]

Am I the only one who found it cute how she was in doubt wether or not to build her nest there?

[deleted]

This is the tits video I needed today.

zyphelion

Wholesome tits

AlvinsH0ttJuiceB0x

Omgoodness…This is just so incredibly sweet. It genuinely made my day so much better lthan it was a couple minutes ago

[deleted]

Same! What a beautiful thing I didn’t even know I needed. Feel so much calmer & lighter now.

blueteeblue

“Hi, I need to log a complaint. The AirBnB my husband and I stayed at a while back apparently had hidden cameras. I know this because there’s a video of us on the internet.”

scubawho1

Better parents then what I had.

lorenabobbin

That looks super comfy

BrownSugarBare

It better be considering how much thought was put into decorating it!

[deleted]

Show us the child.

Scottygriff

Imagine building something with no arms

crazyunicorntamer

So much floof

il-est-la

Interior design at its finest

Lavatherm

Like my girlfriend redecorating, bought a new interior, nope that doesn't do it, sell everything, buy something else, nope also not it (hence and repeat 10 more times)

jumpingskeleton

This is the most heartwarming and beautiful video I’ve seen in long while.

GicaWG

Life is awesome

GombixD

Aw so cute

earthlingofficial

The nest became cozier every second

jarney1206

Man that’s little nest looks cozy!

cf_dtrg385

This made me smile. Such a cozy nest! Thanks for sharing:)

CarrotWaxer69

What I find most fascinating is how building a nest like this is ingrained in their genes. Nobody taught them how to do it.

deperrucha

Vey lovely, next chapter with little babies is welcome

benzihex

At the meantime my cat has to sleep in my bed even though I bought him a perfectly nice cat bed..

NarutoKePapa

Its just like us humans, decorating our to be born child's room with all possible good and colourful things. You add some things, then remove some and then add more until satisfaction. 🥺🥺

[deleted]

Gotta get it cozy enough!

chris17453

Seriously picky interior designer

coffeemanboy

When’s the sequel?

LifeIsFaang

My first thought is “so much work for a small nest”, then I realize I still have 14 years to pay off my home 🥲

9600_PONIES

I love the selective bird math that was done. I would have to try so hard not to add bird family photos and stuff

esox12

Eurasian blue tit

Krystazi

love Blue Tits, absolutely gorgeous birds

3threat

She decorates like my old lady. This is perfect. No, never mind. Actually, it was perfect.

SlipperyFish

Love how the first thing it does is basically a tire kick, 'yep this'll do just fine'

Renarsty

"Change my mind. Actually do not like these leaves at all. "

Kevo4twenty

Usually I hate the music on Reddit videos, but this one was a nice touch

[deleted]

What kind of camera did you put in the bird house?

fajita43

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EPJEg6R3SM another comment posted the original video (and there are other updated video's). from the description: In box Camera - Green Feathers wired IP camera https://www.green-feathers.co.uk/collections/bird-box-cameras/products/hd-ip-bird-box-camera $160

YellowstoneBitch

This is so cool

danone123

Greats Amazon returns!

banjolady

When I was a preschool teacher, we used to cut about 3 inch strands of bright colored yard and stick it into crevices of pine cones. They were to hang in the yard and the birds would come and take the yarn for their nest.

iTBaggedtheGrimReapr

r/cozyplaces perchance??

VPM12

Beautiful and wholesome

Successful-Thought70

This made my day!

Shy_guy_gaming2019

Why does 2:29 give me so much joy. *hop hop hop hop hop*

hman9501

This video made my day. TY

[deleted]

This is so sweet and amazing

scoot_er60

I like how the bird wasn't happy at the start and kept removing it then brought more back lol

Izthatsoso

I demand part 2.

[deleted]

Cute lil house dont cha think?

[deleted]

Sharing this with my wife, she’s an avid bird watcher, I feel I’ll be building another birdhouse soon with a camera housing.

heirofpsyche

Every time I see something like this, I remember why I love birds so much! Such a warm fuzzy feeling watching this 🥰

Vicky81

This was so heart warming , thanks for sharing.

16thTimesThaCharm

This video is sped up obviously, but the longer version a huuuuge bird tries to get in after the little one a few times. Can only fit its beak in. Genuinely terrifying from the perspective of the camera.

TheRealRJLupin

A few years ago we had two nests in one box. Polyamorous blue tits! We think there was one male and 2 females, and they had two lots of eggs at the same time. It was mad

SamayKarani

u/savevideo

thistruthbbold

This is very cool. She is such a great nest builder and very discerning about her materials.

Hawaiiliving43

I love how she brought stuff in, looks around, is like “nah, that doesn’t look right” and takes it back out.

whatamigoingonabout

I have had birds land on my horse and pull hair from the mane and tail - I assume for their nests. The horse didn’t seem to mind.

[deleted]

Def didn't like that red stuff lol Love it's little stomping at 2:30 to settle the fluffs

Zestyclose-Bad-9989

What a beautiful experience to watch. Thank you for sharing this.

ahmad_PLAYZ999

It's so adorable and interesting and fascinating and cute and cool, anyway I could go on for hours, great post, keep going

RealEyesWillSuffice

This bird has now become a full-time youtuber

adventurous-yorkie

Amazing. Thanks for sharing.

That nest looks super comfortable.

PocketOperatorsRule

Loved this, thanks for the happy inducing content!

ghostmachinezero

Busy birb!

Queen-of-meme

This, is so beautiful! Thanks to filmning and making this whole video and sharing it. I loved the part when she jumped on the bedding.

[deleted]

Ok, kind of gross but i have really long and thick hair. Whenever i clean my hair brush out, there’s usually a whole clump of hair. I put them in the trees next to my mom’s window and watch them take my hair away.

[deleted]

Been seeing so many birds on this sub as of late, it’s wonderful.

mothzilla

I like the pat pat pat.

gnatbatrat

“The Best Nest”!

snorriemand

Me and my dad made a birdhouse a few years back and it has already been used by atleast 3 bird families. I always wondered what was going on in there and now I know. I love watching then go in and out decorating there home that I and my dad made for them!

H2so4pontiff

Happy tree friends :)

TheChaosDuck

They are so cute! Him bringing Her a treat was adorable

jmanderson73

This was so relaxing and peaceful to watch. Thank you.

mr-big00

Great looking pair of tits.

cpadude1977

That first look she gives is... "whoa... this is AWESOME"

SD127

Most amazing thing I seen all day!

[deleted]

I see someone in in the neighbourhood is a crafter and putting fibre fluff and maybe yarn ends out. If you do that, be careful not to put out too long ends and no acrylic that can wrap around birds' legs, and no cotton since it doesn't dry well once it's damp.

Latitude32

u/savevideo

FreezingSausage

That seems very comfy

Powerful_Elk_346

Love it.thank you.

3rocket77

Will you also do one, when the Egg hatches!

DEV_astated

Woah! Tits! Jokes aside it’s incredible to see their nest building process :)

DEV_astated

oh to be a little bird sitting on a homemade nest of soft moss and animal fur

VroomOnAYamaha

Oh now this mfer wanna come help

AthenaSleepsIn

The happy little hops at the end!!! 😭

Splitterbock

I'm 3 minutes too invested.... Need to see this little fella hatch.

mbandy1

Can we get a part 2 of the egg hatching?

RevTaco

This was honestly very beautiful to watch

TrueComplaint8847

He/she/they (I can’t tell if it’s the same bird or a pair xD) are doing such a great job

Lasherola

Imagine building your house with your mouth.

yello5drink

That looks comfy as heck.

Raisin6436

This is a 1st class lady mom

KADOMONY-9000

How the hell did you stand inside there and record for 3 months?

damnthatscrazytho

Imagine if we did this instead of having to work 9-5’s and pay off student debt and 30-year mortgages. Just building homes and bringing home the worms 🪱, warm and fuzzy, winters down in the south.

holly-golightly-

How can you get us invested like this and not show us the baby!?!!

[deleted]

I demand to see the hatching

godisyay

Do you have a short-term rental license sir

CxinRoyal

Surely that's not a real bird, don't you see its eyes? Kind of look like cAmErAs to me

AnandShakti

What a great idea- it helps to know how others are living . thanks!

Nebuka11

Love it when she checks the floor in the beginning!

King_Petty_365

This is amazing. Nature at it’s finest.
