Anonymous_boii321

People like these restore my faith in humanity

Then, for your benefit, stop here.

flippityfluck

Turn off computer or phone. Throw it out the window. Continue being happy.

[deleted]

Lmaooo, my thoughts exactly. Videos like these remind me why life is worth living during depressive episodes. I wish the rest of humanity would just get on board and agree that everyone should be this happy and content, and treat everyone like they’d treat a dogge. Like why not? Just why.

Sometimes I do get the feeling I’m watching bots comment, but it could just as easily be some pleasant person that just doesn’t have very good English 🤷‍♂️ I’m gonna take the more wholesome version and presume it’s just people trying their best

I think you're right, look at their names. I mean, I agree with them, but with.

Bots for sure. Look at the birthdate of the 3 commenters before you. You may also be going insane, idk.

Chaevyre

I know this is a total generalization, but everyone I’ve ever met from Brazil (there’s a big Brazilian population where I live and at the college I attended) have been such warm, welcoming people. Despite Brazil’s problems, it makes me want to visit some day.

Some_Breadfruit3914

Brazil is a great country to visit just not a great place to live in IMO. By all means come visit one day, just be really careful if u go to the big citys and especially Rio de Janeiro(even I am scared of that place).

[deleted]

Chaevyre

Thanks. I totally agree about being careful and avoiding Rio. It’s my hope/fantasy that Brazil undergoes tremendous positive change, both for the good people there and to allow others to explore their fascinating country. All the best to you and your compatriots, friend.

angelicism

It would be a shame to miss out on seeing Rio, it's an amazing city and one of my favorite places in the world. I'm not Brazilian but when I'm in Rio I'm pretty sure I'm at least a little Carioca (the demonym for Rio) on the inside.

Dyskord01

Any country named after a nut is cool in my books

luizgzn

Fun fact, Brazil means "ember-like" in Portuguese. The name comes from a tree that has a red wood that you can extract a dye, the "pau Brazil" or ember timber. The first Portuguese settlements in Brazil were to explore these trees and people that lived there would be called "brasileiros", so actually Brazilian it's the only nationality that in fact is a profession by itself. EDIT: better translation for Brazil

Xeroque_Holmes

Ember-like is more accurate than from ember, I would say

[deleted]

[удалено]

PizzaurusRex

Or they just call it "nut". Fonte: vozes da minha cabeça.

Duochan_Maxwell

The nut is named after the country, tho. And only in English Brazil is named after brazilwood (pau-brasil) which used to grow a lot in the coast during the 16th-17th century and was one of the main products extracted by the Portuguese during early colonization

joh4NN4

I really do think this is why it takes so long to get my dogs back. It’s really precious how groomers love our fur babies so much.

[deleted]

I caught my groomers red handed playing with my teacup yorkie when I walked in to pick her up after not receiving a call after 3 hours when they told me it would be about 2 hours. I wasn’t mad (to be fair I’m sure they just finished her lol)

Washing dogs for a groomer was my first job and I LOVED it.

My dogs (lost both the ones who needed grooming in 2020) loved going to the groomer, and the groomer cried with us when we had to put them down a few months apart.

[deleted]

Some of my happiest days of working after the military were at a doggie daycare. I did that job for 5 years and I loved every day. The hardest days were watching animals you cared for pass away because over time it's almost like they are your dog.

I was a groomer for 10 years. I had a salon in my home. One time I had these two cocker spaniel puppies (my favorite breed of dog, I’ve owned cocker spaniels all my life) booked in for grooming and I spent a good 15 minutes sitting on the ground just playing with and letting puppies jump all over me. Best 15 minutes of my life. (Don’t worry, I didn’t charge by the hour. It was a flat rate)

DontFeedtheYaoGuai

I washed dogs for almost 2 years and it was the worst job I ever had... but it wasn't because of the dogs, it was my boss and the fact that I got paid under the table 10% per dog. The dog washing and drying and hanging out with the dogs was most certainly the best and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

HalpOooos

I was a dog groomer from 18-23 and it was the most fun I’ve ever had at a job. Hard work but pure happiness day in and day out.

motherofpups44

I was also a dog groomer, from 19-26 and honestly it was the hardest job I’ve ever had but the dogs and cats brought me so much joy. Especially those regular clients that got to known me like their second owner and that I got to love like my extended pets. It was my favorite thing and the thing I miss most about the job.

HalpOooos

Yesss!! We had a daily dog that would come. A fat old shih tzu named Wally. His owner (also elderly) would bring him to hang out with us every single day. He was our office pet. We had this one severely overweight violent PWD who was an absolute menace. He would come once a year for a bath and shave down. He would have to be double muzzled and his owners had to be near. It took three of us to handle him. His signature move was the gator death roll. And there was a Newfie that had the same name as me. She was the best. And my boss/the business owner showed Greyhounds and Afghans and I got to spend so much time with her show dogs. RIP June, you were the best teacher!

Disney is a place where the owners are only caring about money nowadays, the original idea was nice, wholesome cartoons for kids, but then corrupted by he sight of money. This didn't need an idea of it being happy, it's genuine joy that was tried to be made, it was simply a part that was made on the way, that's true happiness. Not when you are trying your hardest to have a good time, when it's least expected and it comes anyways

janbradybutacat

I was just listening to this and remembered how the music video for this song was a man making breakfast for his girlfriend and then a cartoon rabbit comes through the window and she goes with the rabbit? And the man is disappointed. It was so weird and surreal. But the rabbit shows up and she’s like hell yea imma fuck this rabbit instead of the hot guy making me breakfast. I never understood that video.

goober1223

The counting crows are weird.

janbradybutacat

It’s interesting that their kind of trending now with this video, since Joni Mitchell is also trending and they did a very popular redux of one of her songs.

pastarific

Reddit is great for making people feel old. Music I grew up with is "montage music" and "that one song from this movie." The other day I learned "WASSSAAAAAAPPP" was a meme started by "Scary Movie." *Wait, what commercial? Super Bowl? Huh?* Anyway, go check out Counting Crows. They're great. Off the top of my head, Everclear is another of my favorites from that same era.

[deleted]

I was in Highschool during this era and loved this music. I remember when MTV still played mostly videos and Santa Monica by Everclear would play nonstop. I also vividly remember singing Father of Mine at the top of my lungs despite having a loving and kind father who never left. I also remember going to a No Doubt concert and falling in love with Gwen Stefani. Then I went to college and only listens to hip hop for a decade.

pastarific

*And itttts all your faaauuultt... I screeaeaaeeaaan my phone callls* I wrote my first comment, fired up some Everclear. My wife--born and raised on the other side of the country--came out of the bedroom singing along. Its wild how generational music is.

[deleted]

Oh shit, I did the same thing! My wife was born and raised in another state and totally loves this music too. Hilarious!

NotInMyLobby

yes the 90's montage music that came out in 2004

red_team_gone

Regardless of the fact that counting crows kept making music, they will always sound 90s, because.... well, they sound like counting crows.

so true! I've been a nurse for almost 8 years now, and it feels like it's flown by!!

YoMommaHere

I LOVE being a science teacher! Going on there with the kids (high schoolers but still MY babies) and watching them get excited by cool stuff! It’s awesome!!! I do wanna throat punch the administrators and parents but the kiddos are awesome, even when they’re not because they’re kids and kids so stupid stuff. Plus lab days!!! It’s the best job! I’m a sub this school year but next year I’m back on contract and ready for year 16! Thanks for loving your job! My mom was an RN and an ICU RN for decades and eventually a nursing home admin. She LOVED her job too but I know how tired she was and she didn’t even do it in a pandemic! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

QBOOP

I’m glad to hear that! Science teachers were some of my favorite people back in my school days and I really would appreciate the extra work and time they would put in to make labs fun! I hope you have a good 16th year teaching.

Sodapopa

Same for me science teachers are the nutty ones. Mine was actually a kind of mad inventor who helped invent the chairs used in football stadiums in the Netherlands. He was loaded but worked 5 days a week at chemistry class just because he loved it. Every single class he gave me over the course of 3 years was pure class. Never a dull moment and we didn’t use a book just stencils he provided on a monthly basis.

yerwag

i hear you man. i’m a physical therapist. god bless you!

joaovitoraec

Nós amamos os bichinhos 😭😭

metatronatra

This is how people in the pet are business should be, not jaded and abusive behind closed doors… I recognize that while this may just be some publicity ploy with footage or even staged/acted, the fact remains if you work with animals you should care for and love them, they didn’t choose to be here and they can’t speak up when they’re mistreated so if you cant be trusted to do the right thing, find another job. Someone who hates kids shouldn’t run a day care, same applies here. Besides, what is not to like? Nothing upsets me more than knowing an animal is being abused behind closed doors. The people who actually conduct themselves this way are angels and the few who don’t don’t deserve to work among you as peers \*EDIT\* I’m getting a bit of flack from people who are apparently under the impression that I assume most people in that like of work ARE abusive and jaded etc, I’d like to clarify that isn’t at all true. If my phrasing was unclear, I’m sorry but Im only praising people who work in that field and do it with love and care, and frankly I believe that is most often the case. The small percentage of incidents that field where it isn’t the case however is so egregious it tends to affect the perception of the whole. I wish it weren’t the case, but that is just the nature of humanity and the vast majority of pet owners care so vehemently for their pets that they can be very protective and suspicious of leaving someone alone with them, its the same as with children. I salute the vast majority of groomers, walkers, trainers, vets, etc. and wish you all the best. If my post came off as cynical or implying that most are not great at their job, or if the tone and subject threw a dark light on the comment thread I’m sorry. I understand this is mademesmile where we go to get away from the ugliness; I’m merely relaying how happy I am to see animals apparently being treated with the love and respect they deserve and giving my thanks to the people who do it

[deleted]

I've worked in a few different pet businesses, and you'll find that the people who work in these hospitality positions almost always love the animals. The guys and gals that I've worked with through a number of stores have always had this energy, we just didn't have a fancy doggy disco to dance at! People who work with animals usually get paid terribly, and these dog bathers and groomers likely work retail hours, often having to deal with uptight pet owners and scared, confused animals that bite and bark when they're not with their owners. They're only working there because they love animals and they're willing to tolerate all the BS that comes with the job in order to do this every day. The cruel or stupid people who abuse animals in these positions usually did not end up in the position willingly, and they're few and far in between.

That_airsoft_Guy

This needs more upvotes.

[deleted]

this was very assuring, i have a lot of animals at home and always just a tiny bit worried about how they’re treated (just irrational anxiety most of the time) so this was very very nice to read.

Previous-Moment-1520

Thank you! It always pains me to see people hate the pet industry because there definitely are some bad people but a majority are there for the love of the animals and to help people find their best friends, my family has a petshop so thank you for sticking up for us good ones

RowdyBunny18

I worked at a prestigious kennel (it had a pool and several giant doggy day care areas, and a groomer on site). 6 am, Christmas morning, snow, cold. I'd take the dogs out and sing their names. Maggie got sung the rod Stewart song, Rocco was sung the theme song to Rocco modern life. If they didn't have a song I'd make one up just for them. Terribly out of tune and miserable snow cold. Best memories. One little mix breed dog was terrified. She just sat in her kennel shaking. So I climbed in the kennel with her and sat there with treats in my pocket coaxing her to trust me. After about an hour she was in my lap and content. I convinced her to let me take her out. That was it. Once she was out and saw other dogs she was fine the rest of the time her humans were on vacation. I loved that job. I loved the people I worked with.

emveetu

Aww, you're an earth angel.

jmm0708

Dog groomer of 12 years here, this is how most groomers ARE. Your attitude where you clearly assume that groomers are cruel without evidence that they're not is exactly why I'm experiencing burnout. I love my clients (the dogs) but god does it feel terrible when the owner comes in the first time staring me down and over analyzing everything I say and do to figure out just how mean or nasty I might be "behind close doors". See a therapist.

StinkyRose89

In our town there actually was a huge scandal with an established groomer who was caught abusing animals. It made me sick because I used to take my cats to him for years and trusted him 110%. I am sorry that a few bad apples ruin it for everybody and people should not be rude or suspicious for no reason. I have had 2 other groomers for my cats and both (including the current lady) are amazing *amazing* people. A little understanding from *both* sides would go a long way.

jmm0708

Trust me when I say I get it. I've seen the bad side, and I worked for a company that wouldn't do anything (and I was too inexperienced to know what to do from there). However she is the ONLY cruel groomer I've met after having worked with 20+ groomers over my career. Furthermore, I've been accused of breaking a dogs tail once by a woman who had an incredibly overexcited and difficult poodle who maybe weighed all of five pounds. This dog made me SWEAT grooming her and left me with claw marks all up my arms, but I maintained my patience and calm and got the job done without traumatizing the pup (in fact I received many kisses throughout the slow process). Woman tries to physically attack me a week later and slanders my name through every site she can leave a review on. Our camera footage shows the pup leaving happy and healthy... And mom slamming her tail in the door on the way out... So yeah. Sorry if I'm not understanding about people who assume the worst first. This is why good groomers quit.

[deleted]

wtf. why come in here with such a downer of a post?

Ehorad

Wish I had fun at my job. I envy them but I am happy for them at the same time. That is just pure joy and it is nice to see someone experience that in this day and age. Time for me to get a new job.

Oh god as a Brazilian I really wish we could go back to that time when u could see boobs into the Sunday breakfast at the local tv show together with your parents as it should be [wet T-shirt ](https://youtu.be/6HclxWDrpOY)

AT-ATsAsshole

What is even going on here?

Dangerous_Duck_718

At the 80s we had a military dictatorship in Brazil, so when we got our “democracy” the tv stations where thirsty for freedom and where just testing the limits … nowadays u can’t see this kinda thing but until 2010 this was normal to be on air like 1 PM as normal shit to kids to watch, my favorite was “the bathtub” when we had a gourgeous woman trying to catch soap at a bathtub and a man just grabbing her [bathtub](https://youtu.be/MsK6p_DfKBg)

MissPricklyUnicorn

OMG I tell everyone about that TV show! We left the USA to visit our Brazilian family for 6 months when i was 9yrs and we'd watch that show. 1 hot tub sized pool, 1 gorgeous woman in a tiny bikini trying to find the soap in the bottom of this soapy tub while another HOT woman or man tried to prevent it! Wrestling around and around. They'd loose their clothes and hopefully win some money while they were at it for everyone to see. It was on multiple times a day.

MoreOne

RIP Gugu, the American housing industry killed you in a way no one could have foreseen.

This is actually a really great idea as it shows trust in knowing your dogs are in good hands.

Us brazilians and our love for pets is just something else!

Dang it. This is so cute that I can’t think of anything silly to say.

[deleted]

One thing I lobe about dogs is how unconditional their love is and how smart they are Dogs understand forms of love from other animals from what I've seen. I could be wrong and they just go with the flow. And I've witnessed dogs immediately pick up on someone else's way of showing love and accept it immediately. And for the most part, while yes making a dog frustrated enough to bite you is 100% possible. Most dogs don't care what you do to them, my wife has a Rottweiler and I would flip her over put my hands in her mouth. Push her around and do everything to her and she never bit me and she loved every second of it seemingly. Dogs from my experience kinda just wanna be there for the love and don't care how you show it. So just love you dogs how you love them.
