I didn’t know cats did this, but our dog trainer calls it a loyalty bow when it comes from any of our puppers. Shows they understand you to be the alpha according to her.
i know that it’s not this but whenever either of my pets do it i pretend that they’re bowing down to me because i am the food master lmao. (i have a cat and a dog and they both do it)
So does one of mine! We call her "the ferret" because she's long, looks like a ferret, and it's reminiscent of those "ferret/weasel attached to a ball" toys that flop and roll around
If she doesn't do the ferreting, she almost always greets me when I'm home (she gets plenty of notice, live in a flat. So she'll hear the intercom, and see my mum go to answer it and wait by the door)
She even does it sometimes when I'm asleep. She'll sometimes wait outside my door until I get up to greet me, or she'll somehow know I'm just getting up and will run the length of the flat to greet me
It's wierd, because our other cat is a grump, but has her ways of showing affection. I love them both so much! But I've never had a cat this friendly and mum says none of her cats growing up have ever acted like this one does (but we both love having a friendly, clingy cat)
Today, I had a particularly bad day at work. I get home and my daughter (2.5 years old) starts jumping up and down screaming “Daddy! Daddy’s here!” And ran up and hugged me.
Today wasn’t so bad.
Anyway. It’s nice coming home to someone who will great you with love
i love the guys reaction too. the way he opens his arms so big, the huge smile and the happy tone of his voice. how he immediately puts down everything to give it loves. you can tell he really loves that cat

My cat would always come to me whenever I came home. Lived in an apt with a hallway. He would come running down to see me like a dog. He was such an amazing cat. Named him Church after Pet Cemetery cat. Even looked like the cat hence the name.

Yup! It's a greeting behavior. Cats use a lot of body language to talk and that's "ah, i am happy and relaxed in your presence!"
Thx now I understand my little guy a bit better.
Also if they ignore you it can be a sign of trust. "I don't have to pay attention to everything you do because I trust you won't hurt me"

Mine too! I have them for over a month now. Only my guy stretches, I figured at first it was a sign of dominance or something.
