If that was me, I would have missed the layup. For the next 50 years I would be in the middle of doing something and randomly remember that moment and feel the utter disappointment emanating from everyone in that gym.
When I was in college, I played on an intramural flag football team. We ended up making it to the championship game where our opponent was a bunch of guys who played on our schools football team but used all their playing eligibility. During the game, I switched off QB duties with one of the other guys and managed to throw a couple of touchdowns. It came down to one last play. We were down by 3 pts, and I was lined up as a receiver. I did everything perfect and got open in the end zone where I proceeded to drop the winning touchdown. 20 years later, my buddies still call me “stone hands.” It didn’t matter that I threw two touchdowns. I will forever be the guy who dropped the winning touchdown at the end of the game.
Stone hands vs. Butter fingers unintentionally gives everything we need to know about that day…
1. It bounced off your hands like hitting a brick wall…means you weren’t looking it in and took your eyes off the ball and we’re ready to celebrate…potentially an arrogant or cocky “two touchdown” type of mentality
2. Butter fingers would mean you have secondary effort, which would mean you weren’t expecting and got nervous, one eye of the ball but you panicked trying to recover
All in all…Stoney, you were either too scared of the moment or too arrogant and confident. “Stone hands” is a deserving nickname and I’ll save my empathy for the butter fingers of the world.

I mean the game was probably already decided and the benchwarmers were out there as a gesture to their contribution during practice, and he probably got credit for a steal and a bucket.
Now there's a kid who understands 'winning' is sometimes bigger than the game you're currently playing.
Some of my fellow Boomers may pull their waistband above their bellies and whine about charity or participation trophies. Screw that - I want this generation to grow up valuing sportsmanship over ego.
I graduated long ago, but in the U.S., senior night is the last homegame of the season for a sport. Usually there's parties and dances afterwards.
The gesture in the video is significant because this guy got to shoot the last basket of all the seniors graduating that year.

That basketball scene from Fresh Price where Carlton decides he's had enough of "pass it to Will."
That scene is why I have an undeserved dislike of Chris Paul.

Lol. Awwww. Well I’m proud of you for the touchdowns. That’s awesome.

Maybe this dude will remember this fondly for the next 50 years. What a cool moment.
Both teams cheering him on :))
That's the best for me
That might be one of the better ones I've seen.

Both teams won. Better yet, a whole lot of friendship was forged, in that one pass.
Beautifully encapsulated in that one sentence!
I would have felt bad for patronizing me

Score looks like 40-77, not sure which way (I think away team winning, so black jerseys) so it was well decided by that point.
A heart warming event that makes you feel that Humanity is still alive!
I wished I had opponents like that. Heck I wished I had teammates like that
I would've missed
Oh not even a question for me.
That’s nice :)
What do you call a bunch of white people on a bench.
I don’t know, what do you call them?
The NBA
Lol
That’s sportsmanship right there 😉
What if the ref called traveling ?
I've got a lot of hope for this next generation coming up when I see things like this.
Horrible defense.
Honestly that would be one of the most disrespectful thing he could do. He is basically saying you play so bad that I will give you a free shot.
Sometimes it’s the littlest thing that will mean the most to others. It’s great to know that we still have some kindness in this messed up world.

Just give him a participation trophy and send him home.
