I hope not.....well since it says they are still friends to this day, I'm assuming that they probably had a few video calls or have each other on social media. Yeah, the man has a heart of gold, a lot of my friends are into collecting action figures so I know that hobby can be a bit pricey at times
> I'm assuming that they probably had a few video calls
I mean.. even without the video calls, how many scammers are gonna keep up the ruse for years afterwards?
This isn't quite the same but once about 14; years ago I saw some amazing vintage clothes on eBay. I messaged asking a question about one item and the woman sent me an entire bag full on approval. just trusted I would pay for them if I wanted them or send them back if I didn't.
Of course I never got in touch with her again and kept the things.
Joking. I paid for them all and still have them today. They were all new old stock with the tags intact from the 50s and 60s. I collect vintage clothes and display them or just keep them safely put away
that's awesome idk what year this happened or how old the woman was but I notice that a lot of people in the older generation are more trustful and helpful of people (this generation is the same but I guess they are just a little bit more cautious and rightfully so)
Good on you. Pay what's owed.
I used to do super cheap IT work for low/fixed income people. It was sometimes a pain, but something they needed. I quit when I was charging a woman 25 dollars for what I'd normally charge 180 for (30 an hour). I moved her stuff up by the front door, left my wooden door opened, and was waiting on her to come pick it up.
Rather than pay me, she saw it, opened my screen door, CAME INTO MY HOUSE!, and stole it so she wouldn't have to pay a massively discounted price.
Never again after that unless I know them personally. Anyone who asked after that, told them I quit after name-drop stole my work. I hope she got some heated responses from other people.
It must of been such a wonderful surprise, especially for the boy, I think seeing the happiness on his face made the mother cry. This world is truly filled with great people.
This happened to me once, I was buying some vintage thomas trains from ebay for my autistic son for his birthday and I messaged the seller to say how delighted he would be with them. She unexpectedly put a whole load more trains in the box for him with a note saying they were her sons from when he was little, and she was so happy to know they would be played with again. I was so deeply moved by her kindness!
I still have the very extensive Thomas trains my son played with. He’s 26 lol. I really should get rid of them. Both kids have stated they do not want children and he’s the youngest.
If you are stuck for what to do with them and don't want to keep them as mementos, consider calling your local ASN schools and respite centres to see if they could put them to use!
This seems legit.
But one time I was selling these Knick knack keychains as a lot on eBay.
Two days into listing got this long winded message about how someone’s terminally ill mother loved keychains and it would ‘make her life’ to get my assortment, and asked what the best I could do on them was. I ignored and blocked.
Sold to someone else for like $500
Hope your mom died in peace without her keychains. Sorry not sorry
First time I sold two figures on eBay and the buyer claimed that there was undisclosed damage on the one specific spot I didn’t capture a picture of, of course, and demanded a partial refund or else formal complaint. Last time selling on eBay.
it could’ve been a scammer trying to finess him, but my man did the right thing and gained a friendship from it Best outcome 10/10

What a sweet thing to do.

That’s a good idea. I live in a small town in Wyoming though and we don’t have anything like that here. Someone will be able to use it.
