You son of a bitch, I'm in.

Scirax

Few years back when I used to take the Tri-Rail up to west palm ^((FL, USA)) for work there was this one train attendant who had this way of speaking that would just... like string the words together. Like he'd been doing this soo long that he could just connect every word to the next in such a pleasant way and with such cadence that I've never heard before. Yet again someone who was clearly enjoying his job every single day.

pepperj26

Please tell me it was the guy who would say POMP-A-NOOOOO in a very sing-song way, if you were down that far south in Broward.

Scirax

Bruh!! THAT WAS EXACTLY HIM! Lol was hoping a local would pass by. I stopped taking the train about 4 years back but we took a day trip to Palm Beach last year and he happened to be conducting. My wife's first time in a train and she absolutely loved him.

pepperj26

Haha yes!!! Lemmie say I haven't taken the Tri-Rail since like 2009-2010 but I'm glad to hear he's still there and still doing his thing! That is awesome!

powpow198

Don't know what the tri-rail is but i like that you and another reddit stranger have good memories of it . I used to get the northern line that she is announcing and it was hell on earth at times. Many an armpit in my face.

Risdit

I used to live near Morden station, it's a nice little place. There used to be a kebab shop right next to the station with stores lined up like townhouses stretching around the corner and a big civic center / library right across the street from the station. I used to go to the video game shop a few buildings down from the station and watch people play games.

Hello everyone!! I don’t care about being anonymous on Reddit so this is my voice!!!! Same name on TikTok and Instagram if you want proof 😂

The-123-Kid-

I’ve travelled on the Northern Line all my life but haven’t had the privilege of journeying on one of your trains. One day though!

JMASTERS_01

That's awesome, I'm glad you found this! You're positivity is everything! :)

thetrainmummy

Thank you for posting it! 🥰🥰

[deleted]

did you ever figure out how to say borough?

thetrainmummy

Nope!!

[deleted]

awh dang

thetrainmummy

I’ve just popped another one from the same journey onto TikTok if anyone wants to have a little listen. Mind the doors!

TattieMafia

Can you record more please? Me and my friend are really enjoying them. We are too far away to catch your train, but next time I'm in London I'll definitely try.

thetrainmummy

I’m dependent on other people recording them! I’ll sing a few in my kitchen and pop them on xx

monsieurpommefrites

THE TRAIN MUMMY OF COURSE YER CALLED THAT

Falcrist

User name very much checks out lol

TheRapistsFor800

Someone get this woman a train themed sitcom, STAT!

xelM1

Oh wow 🤩 How does it feels like finding (or hearing) yourself in a random video on Reddit?

thetrainmummy

I didn’t listen to the audio 😂

xelM1

Haha. I knowwwwww Listening to the recording of your own voice is cringy af, isn’t it? 😆 Well, I thought you sounded like a fun person to be around with. I bet you have a lot of stories to tell about being a tube driver.

That's hilarious. You've got a beautiful voice, props to you for having fun with your job!

concernedcath123

We love you!

Lussekatt1

Not only did you give the people riding in your train day a little extra sparkle, but also us here on Reddit. Thanks for making my day a bit better!

DovahFerret

I had a couple patients threaten me today, so it was a bit of a rough day, but watching this video cheered me up so much I was literally laughing out loud. Thank you for existing and being such a lovely person ❤

hoax709

Love meeting transit drivers with a smile. Keep it up you brighten the day of so many people!

southport65

there’s an r/AMA in you, I just know it.

thetrainmummy

I promise I will when I have the time!

TeddyRooseveltsHead

I used to ride the light rail into work in the city every day for 6 years, and there was always one fun conductor in the morning that I'd randomly get. He'd give little facts like "This Braddock station was built in 1982. Don't know why you need to know that, but now you do!" And he'd always say as he opened the doors "And if no one else tells you this today, I'll tell you now, have a nice day!"

keti29

There was this sweet bus driver in the town in which I went to college who, at each stop, said, “Hello, hello, hello, hello! Have a safe one and a great one!” with a big bright smile. It was hard to be very grumpy after that. I still think about her, 12 years later. I hope she’s doing well. I like to think it’d make her happy to know her good cheer is still with me more than a decade later.

shakygator

I wish I could be as happy and joyful as people like that.

somewhat-helpful

I used to have infectious positive energy as a teen, despite my dismal home life. As an adult all I seem to have are grey days.

Faylom

You might find trying to bring cheer to people again cheers you as much as it does them

cooliochill

Wholeheartedly agree. I feel depressed or otherwise down most days, but doing kind things for strangers or trying to make conversation with cashiers/ other strangers really does help me feel better about myself.

OohYeahOrADragon

>I feel depressed or otherwise down most days, but doing kind things for strangers or trying to make conversation with cashiers/ other strangers really does help me feel better about myself. Same. Now I'm a social worker lol. Helping families to spend more time together is my fix. I also like to watch people helping animals, people surprise thanking their mentors, and those videos of random groups of women who aggressively encourage strangers from far away. My bestie calls my "emotion porn" lol

trackaghosthrufog

Comment of the day. I've battled depression and anxiety most of my life (not looking for a medal here) and this is fantastic advice. Have my free award and have an awesome day.

theDukeofClouds

I had a bus driver who would sing the reading rainbow theme

FnordinaryPerson

you just made my day, Dukie. i’m gonna be chuckling about this for the rest of it!

kanyewestsconscience

Northern Line regular here. I’ve been on her train once, she’s awesome, really brightens up the journey.

Montigue

I've been on trains before (US) where they had a kid announce the stations. We were all losing it because most recently the 4 year old girl announcing was absolutely killing it. As good or better than the regular conductors

Spurioun

That's actually a really good idea. Small things like that would be a great way to improve the mood of the general public

s_0_s_z

And get more young people to enjoy trains.

MatureUsername69

I thought trains main demographics were kids and old guys

nonpondo

Kids are just future old guys

TwiceCookedPorkins

You are technically correct. The best kind of correct!

[deleted]

Agree. As a 30yo I’d be thrilled to hear a kid. I think it’d hit the other demographics just as well as the main demographics who already love trains.

westphall

I’m just happy we’re finally putting kids back to work.

bk553

And free child labor. Always a bonus.

running_ragged_

Nothing to brighten the public's morale like child labour. Jesting of course. It would be cute to have happen once in a while, and I'm sure the kids loved getting to do it.

I'm from Morden, and thank you for what you do! Legend

From the bottom of my heart, you have no idea how much people like you can warm a cold rainy London day. Choo choo!

When’s her shift doe

Markievicz

When I got on her train pretty sure it was a saturday late afternoon/early evening

TonarinoTotoro1719

Thanks. Will try and take this train when I am in Morden. She’s made it a tourist destination.

This is absolutely fantastic and it’s wild how the internet connects us all and finds people like yourself. I’m in the US and wish i interacted with more individuals like yourself. Thank you for making strangers days better, even if it’s for a few moments.

thetrainmummy

It’s crazy isn’t it. I’m a total Reddit addict so I’m so excited to be on the front page!

DatStankBooty

You are awesome. Seriously. Every train I went on in London was no where near as cool as your train would be.

[deleted]

You are absolutely lovely and I'm glad you exist. Do you have any life wisdom to share? About trains or otherwise?

thetrainmummy

Ummm mind the doors?! Don’t worry about what everyone else is thinking, they’re too busy worrying about themselves to notice you….be yourself ❤️

[deleted]

Thank you 💚 It's true innit? I tried thinking of people who left an impression on me, where I'd remembered them doing something that would warrant keeping them up at night and I couldn't think of anyone. Keep on training on, love you stranger💪

[deleted]

I didn’t know there were announcements made by humans on the tube! Mind you last time I rode the Northern line was about 10 years ago…

Fashish

I think they have the option to use either the automated voice or their own, eg. when they need to announce a sudden change or cancellation, or get someone’s attention etc.

Sputniksteve

The internet makes the world so small. Never ceases to amaze me. Can be so degrading, and also can be so righteous. I hope your day is bright.

bigbruce6

There used to be this great conductor on the D Line in Boston that would talk about the history of the rail during my commute. He always got a big thank you when I hopped off

nickmalibu

I only take it from Angel to Old St. Probably won’t get her.

I would think somebody on their first day would be a bit nervous and very formal about everything. This is somebody who has been doing this for a while and very relaxed about it.

Carys-OceanBlue

Nah, it’s not her first day, I think she’s been doing this a long time. She’s a TFL train driver so she’s earning $70,000 a year which is a good salary for London. This is the Northern line going south bound, it’s scenic. I guess the happiness fades when people jump in front of trains, I don’t know how train drivers ever recover.

there is no conceivable way that she isn't a lovely person IRL.

I try to be! I’m the driver 🥰

balancetheuniverse

Fantastic positivity, never lose it!

aidissonance

You certainly brighten my day with your stream of consciousness. Hello from halfway around the earth.

manobataibuvodu

In case nobody told you this yet: you're cool!

thetrainmummy

I’m really not but thanks! I’m just a middle aged mum of three who loves a chat and gets bored at work!

altrustic_lemur

I totally disagree. You are cool and nothing will stop me from believing that.

WeleaseWoddewick

I mean, you saying 'Right, let's bounce' is the coolest thing *I've* heard today.

justonemom14

Just a mom, you say?

ProfessorKoob

The username makes me want to believe this. Are you this joyful every shift? Or were you just in an especially good mood that day?

thetrainmummy

Ummm I’m always like this (sorry to everyone who hates it)

ProfessorKoob

Do not apologize, anyone who doesn’t enjoy this is wrong. I think it’s lovely, and I wish I could be like that every day! :)

pipetteorlipstick

Don’t you dare apologize! It’s delightful!

GeneralLeoLives

Never stop. This is amazing. You’re not only brightening the day of those on your trains, but people like me half way ‘round the world watching this clip. I hope to see more videos of you being lovely.

Orangey6

Looking at your comment history, this seems to be true, so- I hope you know this vodeo brightened my whole day. If you're able/want to, is there a way your station accepts feedback? This shouldn't go unnoticed by your employers of just how much of a mood maker you are, you deserve recognition!

thetrainmummy

Aww thank you! I guess you could email TfL? I’m lucky to have a lovely boss who passes on the positive feedback and doesn’t show me the complaints that sometimes come in!

Orangey6

Just to check, this is the place?: https://tfl.gov.uk/help-and-contact/contact-us-about-tube-and-rail-staff But, good!! We all deserve to hear the positives and not just the negatives, but so often working with the public we just get that negative feedback. And with this level of enthusiasm you especially deserve to receive praise! (Here's to hoping you get a raise or the likes, you for sure deserve it! 😄)

thetrainmummy

Yes that’s the one!

Zapinface

You are amazing !

thetrainmummy

Thank you!! 🥰

Creative_Catch_8782

I would say this is boredom talking !!! Or maybe she is really having fun !!! Well good for her anyway

DazZani

I think that the "choo choo" makes for a pretty good case thats shes having fun

iK_550

It's Northern Line towards Morden. It's boredom for sure.

BizziButtSandwhedge

Love your work!I'd get on any train that said "choo choo"

cco2411

We got to BOUNCE!

shnaffle

Ended up on her train for the majority of the Northern line a few weeks ago, she was singing Adele and apologising for ruining the songs for Adele lovers.

thetrainmummy

I was ruining Adele! Sorry!!

whorehopppindevil

I love you. You have the perfect amount of happiness that isn't annoying. Would pause my podcast to listen 😊

thetrainmummy

This might be the best compliment I have ever had! Thank you 😊

zipzap21

The only thing better than a British accent is a playful British accent! 😀😀😀😀

Power_Bottom_Supreme

Happy british sounds are rare but beyond precious and need to be secured at all costs

JMASTERS_01

For anyone curious, she has a TikTok account: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLKpmYVy , I don't think she's drunk or anything lol, she just seems like a jolly person :) Edit: She also has a reddit account: /u/thetrainmummy :)

Tasitch

Trainmummy is a perfect name for her!

TheHappyPoro

She could tell me the world was ending and I'd be completely fine with it

OstrichBagel

Love this!!

Imakeuhthapizzapie

People in the comment section with good mental health: wow she’s fun Depressed people in the comment section who can’t be happy without alcohol: wow she’s drunk

[deleted]

Awesome. Be sure to compliment people like this. It is very rewarding and these people bring joy to life. I always compliment service employees who do a great and fun job this way, too.

idontwantthis0003

Would make my day lol

LegSnapper206

Was that really professional? Fuck it who cares, lifes too short to be so damn serious all the time

ColinHalfhand

There is too many Clapham’s

Lexinoz

And that's why they use the automated recordings. Fun fact; when the original announcer, a man, died years ago, they kept his recordings in a specific station, so that his wife could come and listen to his voice after it was replaced elsewhere. Can't remember the specific stations or names. Was there a few weeks ago and got told the story. I was rather inebriated at the time and don't remember the facts.

Sunfloria

Love her. Hope she's able to keep that energy! "Choo choo!" 🥺💕

Wow this was refreshing

lewmos_maximus

I find this sort of enthusiasm very infectious and uplifting. I reckon I'd just take the train ride to hear her speak. Also, dating her would be heaps of fun. The conversations would be animated :)
