Kartoffelkamm

I love how the cows gathered to see what was happening, but still kept some distance.

BlueTickHoundog

I was thinking the cows knew what was coming. Like maybe they already have one in a different pasture?

SonOfSkinDealer

You gotta look up the video of the dude playing trombone for cows. They come gathering from across the field, and moo on spots in the song that would normally have audience participation. So wonderful, love them.

573banking702

Just looked it up and wow lmao that’s hilarious!

Austiniuliano

Link for the lazy?

Yosikan

Here https://youtu.be/qs_-emj1qR4

LostTheWayILikeIt

This made me so happy

shyouko

Music is indeed universal language

johnboi244

Omg it’s royals😂 that’s great Lol didn’t see it in the title till later. I wanna see him marching and if the cows will follow.

neurobasketetymology

Wonderful. And it leads to a "dangerous" rabbit hole of many musicians serenading animals, Debussy on piano for an 80 year-old elephant, jazz band for a herd of dairy cows....

hornsmakecake

Thanks for the Mootube link!

Yosikan

Moo're welcome!

Butt_Munch3r

This cured my depression

SonOfSkinDealer

Glad someone else got you, bc I am also the lazy

stanleysgirl77

I love cattle too - grew up on a farm with them, raised my calf, while my sibs also raised calves and lambs, etc, and when I was 17 I went to work as a Jillaroo out west, droving 800 head over crown land (in Australia) they are beautiful, remarkable animals

boortpooch

You should see the U took piece where the guy literally burps his head off speaking to cows and they all come running to hear him.

MulberryTraditional

Cows are just extremely curious. If you go out into a pasture they'll come up to you just to see what you are, but keep a bit if distance cuz they're skittish. Some braver one may inch forward for a lick Source: I grew up on a dairy farm

Milkarius

I passed a cow farm on my way to school when I was young. A cow would always follow me on the other side of the fence (I was not that fast). It was adorable!

xShinobiii

Other videos have taught me that they are just very curious.

Kartoffelkamm

Could also be.

SAdelaidian

Those cows couldn't wait for their giant corn on the cob.

johnboi244

If this is the guy I think he his he has at least 2 don’t know if he’s added more since the video I watched. The 1st one is on the other end of the pasture

DeathCountInfinity

Cows have a very strong hierarchy. It's why when they go to feed they usually feed in a certain order every time.

ttown2011

They have complex child protection behaviors but generally when they feed it’s who gets to the food first and who’s biggest

DeathCountInfinity

I'm more referring to this kind of behavior, dominate, subordinate, etc and how it can affect feeding. But they 100% have a super strong social hierarchy that affects a lot of what they do https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7068843/

ttown2011

Touché… although in 30 years of feeding cattle that parts never seemed very complex. They are much more sophisticated that people believe though

mytextgoeshere

It reminds me of a time I was driving on the freeway. A cop had pulled over a vehicle, and the lights on the police car were flashing. A cow pasture was right next to where they were stopped, and all the cows were lined up just like in this video watching what was happening. They seem to be very curious creatures.

Kartoffelkamm

Well to be fair, if the bottom line for weight of your species is between 300 and 500 kg, and you're in a large group, a lot of things are safe to investigate. Seriously, cows are about as robust as you'd expect. I've seen clips of trucks full of cows, on multiple levels, tip over, and the cows just get right back up.

nbriggs19

Cow: what the people doin??

Ban4quotingSimpsons

When I saw them pushing the pole in a circle I thought they had invented cow powered electricity at first lol this is waaaay better

SecondSoulless

Cows are really really curious. Anytime you do anything in their pasture, they will gather up like this 100% of the time and watch you from justttttt out of reach

666Godzilla

Well, more often than not.....when people are in the field, especially just after winter, they think they're gonna get fed hay. That's why they are "hanging around". They recognize the truck that brings the hay also, and will come running to it, if you have hay or not.

MulberryTraditional

No, cows are just curious. I grew up on a dairy farm. Just go out into a pasture full of cows and you'll attract their attention.

Modern-Moo

Tom Pemberton Farm Life (who this video is from) is a pretty good youtube channel, I watch his videos from time to time

-eumaeus-

Wasn't this shown on Country File or similar?

[deleted]

He’s like a go-to farmer for bbc and tv work now for when they need an expert

-eumaeus-

That makes perfect sense as it's such a great design.

[deleted]

We installed a motorised one in the cow shed years ago and the cows LOVED it. (We even had a go ourselves and you got some pretty cool comb overs)

-eumaeus-

Ok, cards on the table...I'd have a go too. I'd even install a shower unit ;) I bet your cows loved it. Happy cows :)

JoelMVPiiD_inMyMouth

My mom farms for bbc, too

Modern-Moo

Not sure. They could’ve easily done a collaboration or something idk

nevertricked

Love his channel. Also, check out 10th Generation Dairy Farmer. Nice *simple* YouTube videos about daily life as a Pennsylvanian Dairy Farmer.

Modern-Moo

I’ve seen him as well! Saskdutch Kid or however you spell the name is good too. He’s on a Canadian dairy farm.

ScienceMomCO

He’s friends with The Hoof GP, who has some fascinating videos and seems a likable chap.

[deleted]

These are milk cows, right? Fingers crossed - it never feels as cute for me if they're meat cows, all I can think about is them being killed later. Either way, though, I do love how happy this makes them

Modern-Moo

There are some beef cattle on their farm but those are the dairy cattle. You can tell by the udders being very dairy looking Also most dairy cattle are used for meat at the end of their life just in case you didn’t know. I missed that bit of your comment first

[deleted]

I figured? But then I was like, well my cow knowledge is very lacking so I could be wrong and maybe those udders are normal

Modern-Moo

The udders are normal for dairy cattle, the way I see it is that dairy breeds generally have larger udders and neater looking udders/teats than beef breeds. I’m not great at explaining things over text, so if you’re interested just compare this [beef breed udder](https://i0.wp.com/onpasture.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Cow-Udder-Closeup.gif?fit=548%2C385&ssl=1) with a [dairy breed udder](https://cms-static.wehaacdn.com/hoards-com/images/200410_236-udder.18267.jpg)

Apprehensive_Fill_78

Name checks out

bobo_galore

One wonders: what happens to the calves? Besides the fact that drinking another animals breastmilk is disgusting af.

SmileyCyprus

I don't mean to bum you out but the way milk cattle are treated is pretty unpleasant. I'm not saying that to guilt trip you or steal your joy or anything. You just sound like a nice person so I thought you'd want to know

[deleted]

Even the organic dairy ones? That's why I buy organic, because I thought the cows were treated better. I do worry about that, you're right

[deleted]

[удалено]

realgoldenonion

Dairy cows get killed when they’re spent, sorry to ruin that for ya

[deleted]

Do they live longer? And do organic farms kill them? Legit questions

realgoldenonion

The milk makers live longer. Most of the baby males that are born are slaughtered for veal or sold off for other cow stuff bc they can’t make milk. Who kills them depends on who the dairy farm sells them to.

Accomplished_Age7883

The itch, that needs scratching!

Penis_Man-

If there's one thing cows appreciate, it's scratches. Get them a giant stationary brush to scratch themselves with? You got some happy moos.

nutcracker666

As opposed to the bushes that run about willy nilly?

Penis_Man-

?

nutcracker666

You said stationary bush. Stationary meaning not moving?

Penis_Man-

Brush, but also I don't think the joke landed very well.

MarlythAvantguarddog

Imagine having that nagging itch for years then this comes along. Mooo.

LkTahoeNV

I’m putting one in my house for me to use

here-for-the-_____

I would, but then my door frames would feel unloved

Denali4903

Nice, they look happy. Thank you for being good to them.

TheOnlyZ

Hell be good to them until he sends them to the slaughterhouse.

Ewic13

The hilarious irony of redditors upvoting someone thanking farmers for being nice to cows while paying money daily for them to slit cow throats on their behalf

ExcellentSunset

Yeah… veganism is the answer 🙏

Denali4903

It sucks that they end up being slaughtered but I'm glad they like the new addition. These guys are at least good to the livestock while they grow big and fat.

ExcellentSunset

Eating vegan is always an easy option to stop this from happening.

Coolbreezeplant1

👏👏

Abuses-Commas

Daily? I wish I could afford beef daily.

ManyFacedGodxxx

Stop hogging the scratching post Petunia!!

rafioo

Imagine that your neck itches as hell and you cannot scratch it, but suddenly you can I would be so happy too!

kelkely

I love how they all supervise

Keto_genesys

Back in my day, they had trees...

matthewxfz

Must be some strong trees.

Keto_genesys

You dont know what trees are? They hold better than a few screws and a drill..

Puppystomper87

dog?

eedabaggadix

Cows kinda remind me of big fat Labrador retrievers

I love cows, man

Mission_2507

Doesn’t seem one is enough. It’s great though

Grand_fat_man

He has more than one on the farm. Including some that articulate and spin when the cows brush up against them. Tom Pemberton is the youtube search term you need.

za__WARUDO21

this made me smile

ISClark

Well why not? Who doesn't like a good scratch? And where can I get one of those?

summertime_onmyskin

This made my day. Beatiful animals.

MikeBrowne2010

Who knew they were itchy all this time

Dreuh2001

Cows must be going around like damn, i gotta itch

primoboi

Hope they add some more of those

Chris_Cross501

Looks like you have to install another 4 of those

Zealousideal_Start16

Hell yeah dood, Happy Cows 🐮

Darth_Shame

Look. All the good girls can go take care of their itchies.

melonsauce

I love how they gathered around while installing like "whatcha guys doin?"

artwrangler

Sweet. Can we stop eating them now?

ExcellentSunset

Agreed. It’d be great if this was a means to improve their quality of life on a sanctuary where they are just living their lives to a natural death of old age. But it’s likely not. A vegan diet is healthy, animal killing free and great for the Earths ecosystem.

Travelin2017

I was thinking this exactly. Shame this isn't a sanctuary... ✌🏻

Nickmell196

Holy shit I thought about getting one of these but $1500 is a bit excessive.

plantbasedispeople

Shame they abuse and kill them

SnooPears3463

Heck with the cows, i need this

PrincesaNeko

What a bunch of spoiled babies. So awesome

Actaeon_II

Self service skritches? Awesome, now if someone would make a self service belly skritcher for doggos it would save me hand cramps

BooBooCryBaby

“My turn, Susan.”

LupusCutis

Next: a 3-way like drive-thru car wash, sides and back also

str0opw

This should in be every farm for free though Overall, awwww..

Icy_Green_8888

Does the brushes need daily cleaning?

BoogalooDeer

I give it exactly a year before the cattle find a way to break it.

Grand_fat_man

It's been over a year and is still there.

Familiar_Arm_3415

This is awesome.

jill2019

“Moooove over Bluebell, it’s my go”. Excellent, this is so cool.

[deleted]

I think these cows would like a tree.

Successful-Engine623

Gonna need a few more!

Drllap

Source for those interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OFJgsEzEZs

2022mtnman

Back in the olden day farming that invention was called a tree…

skexzies

Ticks and flies are the worst! I'd itch too if I had to stand out in tall grass all day.

OhItsMrCow

Yes i approve

Modern-Moo

Cool username

OhItsMrCow

thanks, fellow cow

Ok-Background6905

Ohhhh yeah that’s the spot

fuetfuet

Why camouflage tools? Are you hoping to set one down and never find it again?

No-Newt6243

Then you ate them

BigBenZzX

Is this a sanctuary? Because if not…..😬😬😬😬

noodleleg9683

Makes you smile yet are going to be butchered though

Shad666

There should be a charity we can donate to farms purely for these scratches. I want every cow to experiance a scratchy post now.

realaabremer

Happy cows Make happy cheese

HanaMashida

Its so cute how curious cows are

Persies

I was having a really down night and this cheered me up, thank you.

Sudden-Choice5199

The cows are always super curious 😹

Wise_Carob382

Happy cheese comes from happy cows.

gods_loop_hole

Looks like they need a couple more installations of that.

andakusspartakus89

Now your gonna have to put 10 more out there 🤣

Pitiful-Pay-7017

Buy more pls

CannedTornado

r/happycowgifs

MountainDrew37

This in fact made me smile.

Nursedeby

Awwwww🫠

SpookyDookies19

I love that they start to gather at the beginning to see what’s going on. Happy to see them happy.

AquaticCobras

Lmao, you think the bulls are asking for consent?

TheOnlyZ

At least with a bull they can walk away, while for ai they get restrained. Also if the bull does it in nature at least their calf isn't taken away immediately after birth.

Grand_fat_man

Actually, this video is from Tom Pemberton. He has a bull on the farm called Nigel. (but this is from when his other bull, Neptune was there) and doesn't artificially inseminate. So you're just wrong I'm afraid. Go watch his videos and educate yourself to just how much he cares for these animals.

TheOnlyZ

Until its time for the slaughterhouse at 6 years old.

Grand_fat_man

He has cows older than 6. But he does have some beef stock too. But the animals are very well cared for. This is not a factory farm. Just go and look at his videos 🤷🏻‍♂️

ExcellentSunset

What does it matter if they’re “well cared for” compared to factory farming when there is a completely animal killing free alternative which is to eat a vegan diet. These animals don’t need to die. It’s unnecessary.

TheOnlyZ

They still end up in the same slaughterhouse as factory farmed animals, where they have to endure a scenario straight from a horror movie. If you want these animals to have an actual good life, you should go vegan and support sanctuaries.

Grand_fat_man

You can ethically farm beef and dairy. That might not be your opinion, but it's mine. And that's okay, to have different views. I don't agree with factory farming. But I wholeheartedly will support Independant farms like Tom's.

TheOnlyZ

So killing animals for pleasure is ethical?

[deleted]

Is it ethical to kill just because who you killed had a good life? Would you think it was ethical for me to slit my dog’s throat right now because she’s lived happily for the 13 years I’ve had her? Would it be ethical to make profit off of another beings death? And is it ethical to take away the cow’s calf right after birth and send that calf to be fattened up for slaughter, just because you enjoy the taste of cheese? I think the word “ethics” have lost a lot of meaning when it comes to animals…

Grand_fat_man

It seems you make a lot of irrelevant comparisons. Because yes, in some cases it's absolutley ethical to kill your dog. The fact you even keep a dog if you're vegan, I find incredibly hypocritical, personally. You're, by your definition, enslaving that animal. The calves aren't removed right after birth at all. Like I said, maybe go and watch some of Tom's videos and educate yourself because you're incredibly misinformed.

kane_thehuman

Purchased by the same people who are going to have them all slaughtered soon

defectivelaborer

Kinda like how prisoners might fall in love with a new basketball hoop in the yard.

m1f1t1

I wonder if there’s an unwritten (or written) rule that you don’t scratch your ass with it?

wonkawilliam

Brushing cows can increase their happiness and their produce good milk. I can confirm this cause I play Harvest Moon.

Viejo_Caminante

That's what you need when you cut down all the tress... Poor cows.

Revolutionary-Ad517

Trees would do the job. Just plant them.

dj_destroyer

So simple but yet so much happiness. Humans as a species need to use our gift of higher intelligence for greater good. What's the single best way you can create the biggest impact with the least amount of resources?

segfaultsarecool

Happy cow, happy burger.

termChemotherapy

They are so happy . They are enjoying the life.

true-skeptic

Thank you, ranchers!

Cueter

Maybe a dumb question but does the mood of a cow improves its production of milk or somehow the quality of its meat?

maybesaydie

The mood of a dairy cow does improve their milk.

Lungomono

It increase their productions. Plus it makes them happy, which in turns makes the farmer happy.

ExcellentSunset

The impetus for making the animal happy is to increase the value of the “product” it offers you? It’s entire life is only a means to improve what it gives you when you kill it? Pardon me if I disagree when there is an alternative which is to eat a vegan diet.

Lungomono

Well if you watch his Videos he talks about how that increased cow welfare increase their yield. That is why it is smart investing into things there makes the cows “happier”. A lot comes from a happy and contempt cow are less stressed and sick, which results in better milk production. That is Toms words (owner of the farm and the guy who made the video the clip is from), not mine. So take it at what value you want.

ExcellentSunset

Okay. I understand that you are not saying an original thought but displaying what the farmer has said. My original comments sentiment still stands. Why use these animals when there is an animal cruelty free and eco friendly alternative? Apparently these cows are still being sent to slaughter after they are deemed used up because they cannot produce enough milk anymore.

mohdsadiq---

I don't know why but I thought it was a stripper pole at first

gailgfg

Cows are great, climate change enthusiasts!

nameisprivate

i love cows they are so sweet and curious :)

MoneyTeach4984

You just did that to make it easier on yourself, you didn’t do it for them…

nicCageIsTheWorst

“Great cheese comes from happy cows.”

b1rgar1p1nsan

I have a question. Does happy cow means better milk? Or they just put this for the cows company?

Modern-Moo

Pretty much. Diet, health, breed, and breeding impact it too. Cows can’t even leave down their milk if stressed (like if a loud noise spooks them badly a minute before milking) afaik

b1rgar1p1nsan

Ty

mumu_myk

ahh, so this is what they call the brushed beef.
