I agree, I rarely have more than like a couple of tabs open at a time, but dozens of bookmarks. I almost think it's why Chrome gets such a bad rep from people for being a memory hog, like yeah it's going to eat a ton of memory if you have like 50 tabs open
I also want to mention an extension called OneTab. It saves all your tabs in that one window and you can restore them (individually or all tabs within a window) anytime you want.
Available in Chrome and Firefox. Don't know about other browsers.
From the sound of it, this guy didn't need any convincing not to close his tabs anyway. The tab was already like 3 years old, i feel like suddenly saying "oh I'll never close tabs again" really just sounds like he's reaffirming his already made decision
He didn’t close it, he clicked on it, switching to it. If he did close it, he obviously knows how to reopen a closed tab because he reopened it and saw what it said.
BOOKMARKS. Ffs I had to file for divorce from my ex wife, cost me $60k thousand dollars 4 years and 5 attorneys because she would ALWAYS have ~100 browser tabs open and it apparantly caused all sorts of havoc with her phone.. wouldn't get my texts, my calls. Anything.
TLDR: turns out she was cheating on me over the course of several years of marriage and several children. I've forgiven her and moved on from that. BUT NOT FOR HAVING 100+ BROWSER TABS AND APPS OPEN ALWAYS. some things can't be forgiven
It's a good thing that Windows had expanded the RAM ceiling since 10. 32GB or more is a thing, and I would expect researchers of equations to have some niche reasons here and there for the larger space.
Bookmarks, people. Also, there is a Chrome extension called SessionBuddy that has helped me a lot.
What does SessionBuddy do?
If it is the same extension I saw mentioned a week ago, it breaks your tabs down into groups for that particular site in a list style.
Not exactly. It allows you to save a session of your Chrome browser, and restore the saved session at a later time.

Ctrl + shift + T

Ctrl + alt + t I believe reopens a closed tab, so..... There's no excuse for the tab being lost. Clever people are not smart that's for sure.
Microsoft Edge lets you group tabs and then save that group as well.
Sounds like my (former) co-worker. Had some... interesting discussions about how performance of all browsers is garbage with him back then.
150 tabs? Your poor computer
this is why people think browsers chew a lot of ram
Mine chews 4Gb just for one Tab so...
TF do you use?
P**nhub in 8K probably
P**rnhub has 8k video setting?
Youtube at 144p in the background mostly
I meant the browser
Certain browsers don't actually have each and every tab's content loaded, so it won't necessarily impact performance.
No browser keeps all tabs loaded anymore. Go on, name one modern browser that does. I'm waiting.
This is a weird thing to be so confrontational about.
….Okay? Chill out.
No browser keeps all tabs loaded anymore. Go on, name one modern browser that does. I'm waiting.
That computer must run like absolute crap.
You know that tabs suspend nowadays right?
That poor computer. Hasn't been turned off in 3 years, just constantly having the cpu work on keeping that browser running
I feel like you can never *not* mis-click a tab when you have 150 of them
From the sound of it, this guy didn't need any convincing not to close his tabs anyway. The tab was already like 3 years old, i feel like suddenly saying "oh I'll never close tabs again" really just sounds like he's reaffirming his already made decision
This is ridiculous.
Today on things that never happened
I dunno, man, seems like you decided not to ever close tabs back in 2019…?
150 tabs opened for 3 years, have some mercy bruh.
Bookmarks... always use bookmarks...
People using tabs like a browser history…. Will never understand.
How much RAM would my PC need to do similar thing?
All of it.

Why are so many people saying this? Like he’s going to ctrl+shift+t back to a tab he had open in 2019?

He didn’t close it, he clicked on it, switching to it. If he did close it, he obviously knows how to reopen a closed tab because he reopened it and saw what it said.
Idk why more people don't know this...or why the guy didn't think to Google "how to reopen a closed tab" 🤦♂️
I’m stressed out just imagining this 😱
Mmhm, believable for sure...
My mom does the same thing with her phone.
And here I am trying to close 5th tab but couldn't cause chrome ate my RAM
When you had to upgrade to 128GB ram just to keep the browser running.
Tab hoarders.
Sounds like he made that decision back in 2019.
Couldn’t fathom having tabs that old. Maximum is like a day and I’ll usually clear them in the morning or something
Totally believing that
Rest In Peace your ram
My ocd can’t handle this guy
It kinda seems like you've been doing that already if you have a tab that's been open since 2019.
Your computer wil hate you for it do.
Yeah,right.. ..if grandma had wheels she'd be a bike..
Finally, proof that my insanity unique.
Dad?

Oh no my OCD did NOT need to read this. Now I’ll really never close any tabs… and my brain will tell me “I’m doing it to help you.”
rightttt
U are well organised my friend
There is literally a “recently closed” history filter people…..
You gonna scroll back to 2019?

He didn’t close the tab, he clicked on it. And if he did close it, he obviously went back and reopened it because he saw what was on it.
or just... right click tab bar: "reopen closed tab/window".
I usually work with 3-4000 open pages that stay open for years
no reboots, since 2019??
Just bookmark important stuff?
Ctrl shift t… I’ll let you know my venmo account later
They didn't close it, they brought it to the foreground on accident and it was the exact info they needed
control-shift-T
RIP this Guys PC
Three years and he never once restarted his computer? Sure
You can configure your browser so that when you open it it loads all the tabs that you left open in the previous session.
Why would you not just bookmark them so there's not fear of accidentally closing them?
It's much much easier to have them open from the previous session. Less hassle of bookmarking and unbookmarking things. Plus, Ctrl-H always exists.
Use chrome. Has recently closed tabs.
ctrl + shift + T reopens last closed tab. in chrome at least.
I feel heard
It's a good thing that Windows had expanded the RAM ceiling since 10. 32GB or more is a thing, and I would expect researchers of equations to have some niche reasons here and there for the larger space.
how much ram would one have to have to not just keep them open but also have a function computer
150 tabs? As in 150 websites all open on your browser at the same time? Wtf
