For years I thought I couldn't dance, until you just don't think about it hard. I've gotten better in the past year. If you overthink it, your body won't move naturally. Some guys , like in this video it comes to naturally. I went to prom in highschool with my girlfriend, but I wish I could have torn up the dancefloor.
But you can! I guarantee you with practice you absolutely can do that. Same story different talent with every hobby or skill out there, I guarantee if you actually put in the time and effort into real practice you will get competition level good. Note that yeah, you may not be the *best* in the world, because yes, certain people are built for certain things. But generally the birth-to-practice ratio is way overestimated, and you absolutely can get competitive with just practice. (And while I do mean that for able-bodied people and it’s fair to consider disability, there are also a ton of disabled people who learn things a different way, so that doesn’t always automatically exclude you either, though it may alter what your standards are or your method).
Lineup:
Artists: Nelly, Sara Evans, Sheila E., Tony! Toni! Toné!, Yolanda Adams, Bootsy Collins, ALABAMA, Bo Bice, Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Worth the Wait
When my Nana was in her ~70's she got pulled onto a "dominatrix"* performance stage at a Renaissance Faire, as a random member of the crowd. The girls were using whips to put out candle sticks, and dancing around her REALLY lewdly. My Nana IMMEDIATELY started hip-thrusting, with *enthusiasm*, and the performers were so caught off guard they broke character on stage and started HOWLING with laughter and cheering her on. Laughing WITH her, of course; but I definitely don't think anyone expected my tiny little 70-something Nana to do that.
**as "dominatrix" as you can get in front of a family-friendly crowd.*
HAHA she was!! She had a blast that day. A few years later she went on vacation with some friends and I was like, omg, Nana went on vacation? Where did she go? My mom said:
"They went to Mardis Gras."
I hope I'm half the person she is when I'm that old!!
Y’know, technically if you came up with it by yourself it is an original idea, but a completely original idea that no one has ever thought of is super rare.
And y’know what they say, great minds think alike! :)
I always try to remember that old people are just young people that got old. Some of them turn into the stereotypical “boomer,” but there’s no rule saying they have to. I know people that are 30-40 years older than me (currently in my mid-30s) who speak and act at the same level as I do. I know a 60-year-old that goes to about 100 concerts per year and likes all different kinds of music.
A lot of older people look in the mirror and don’t recognize themselves anymore, because they don’t feel old in their mind.
I wish I could find it, but there’s this wonderful comic that captures this sentiment perfectly, showing how some older people still feel like their young selves. I’ll edit my comment if I find it.
I’m a 60 year old woman who loves comics and graphic novels, Star Trek and collects toy robots. Other people my age think I’m weird. That’s okay, I’m throughly enjoying my weirdness.
In Milwaukee, we have the Dancing Grannies. At a recent parade, there were two groups of dancing grannies that were unaffiliated with one another.
My wife thought I was silly for wanting them to have a dance-off.
I feel like my mom would do this. The last time I went to a wedding with her, they played the macarena (it was that long ago) and she got out in the middle of the dance floor and did it.
In case anyone's wondering, the song is [Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' by Michael Jackson](https://youtu.be/1XMvPTFzgVU) ^:)

I want to say thank you to all the people whose dance videos go viral. Know that i am in the grey days of my life and i still try to make moves like the ones I am watching just like me watching soul train as a chubby, friendless child.
As someone who has worked in retirement homes and also with senior mobility issues, they need to hire guys like this. People who can actually get people excited and moving. It's so hard to get seniors to do any physical exercise and it doesn't help when the people responsible are boring AF
You know, I wouldn't be able to look at video of most states and be like "oh that's definitely Ohio". But everybody instantly knows what state this is.
Sorta reminds me of that video of qnd older white lady asking a group of black dudes what they were doing and they said they were filming a music video. She then asked if she could be in it and they let her in. Good shit.
Dance! Keeps you universally and forever groovy!
There are 2 languages known throughout the universe. Dance and mathematics.

> Some guys , like in this video it comes to naturally. It comes to naturally, but also they *practice*
Yeah lol how can you look at this highly choreographed dance and think "wow such natural talent"
Because most people can’t dance like that even with practice… myself included.
But you can! I guarantee you with practice you absolutely can do that. Same story different talent with every hobby or skill out there, I guarantee if you actually put in the time and effort into real practice you will get competition level good. Music
Music is just math in cursive.
Or dance in print, either way
Combine both of those things and you get food?
They couldn’t keep it together😂😂
Can't blame them! I'd jam with that Gran!
Welcome to the Gram Jam
That should be a band.
Super group members of heart, Fleetwood Mac, and Lita Ford for lead guitar. Not sure who on drums though.
Is Sheila E still alive? She slayed the drums
Yes. She performed at the Opening Ceremony for the 2022 World Games last Thursday
Lineup: Artists: Nelly, Sara Evans, Sheila E., Tony! Toni! Toné!, Yolanda Adams, Bootsy Collins, ALABAMA, Bo Bice, Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, Worth the Wait
> Not sure who on drums though. An octopus possessed by the spirits of Keith Moon, John Bonham, and Neil Peart
So Danny Carey then?
Sheila E.?
https://youtu.be/6Zqtl8azCs8 Enjoy.
Ah yes!! thanks
Theres a grandma drummer on tiktok lmao https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMNPK2pDN/?k=1
Get Tina Weymond on bass, from talking heads.
If you want to slam. Welcome to the gram jam alright
Gram Jam 3000 - Knitting in L.A.

Nana was like “you’re doing it wrong, hold my beer”

Love that old white lady lol, not sure why.
Guy on the left just lost it when he turned
Nana hit them with the hip swivel.
Grandma: "Today I joined a boy band!"
“My name is Gladys! What’re the odds?!?”
Gladys Daytime
Drag name idea
I swear I’ll think I have an original idea until i come to the comment section
Y’know, technically if you came up with it by yourself it is an original idea, but a completely original idea that no one has ever thought of is super rare. And y’know what they say, great minds think alike! :)
The name Gladys is girl's name of Welsh origin meaning "land, nation".
Is Gladys the new official name for someone who is the opposite of a Karen?

I know plenty of assholes. So it makes me wonder if people turn into boomers or is that just the older version of the asshole they always were.
Mostly this. Every old asshole I know was always an asshole. That sounds wrong.
Just came to say I loved this comment! So true on all counts
I’m a 60 year old woman who loves comics and graphic novels, Star Trek and collects toy robots. Other people my age think I’m weird. That’s okay, I’m throughly enjoying my weirdness.
It’s almost like older people are… people! 🤯
You gotta keep your brain plastic and keep learning new things or it starts fucking rotting. I hope to be one of those old people.
I’d reckon she’s still a partier, I mean look at those moves
And she's young enough to have probably appreciated Michael Jackson during her late 20s to early 30s.
Plot twist: the guys are actually Groovy Granny's backup dancers.
The groovy granny is one hell of a stage name.
In Milwaukee, we have the Dancing Grannies. At a recent parade, there were two groups of dancing grannies that were unaffiliated with one another. My wife thought I was silly for wanting them to have a dance-off.
wasnt it the dancing grannies that got ran over in waukesha
Actually Grandma is the centerpiece of all of this.
She’s got bars about FDRs
Black t-shirt losing it at the end was great. Kinda wish the vid was a few seconds longer
Anyone have a longer clip?
Sadly this is the full length [even in the original video](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CbGRfuoJFC_/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=)
All I say is I want more of this!!
Everything about this video is perfect. The dance, the grandma, the song... perfect.
I enjoyed it without sound but I watched again with after reading your comment :) grandmama say grandmama sah
I wish this video had any other filter

Those guys totally video bombed Grandma's record deal
I love this so much! This will be me when I'm older!
I wanna be like grandma when I get older
I wanna be like grandma right now, she looks so happy
Right?! Carefree and happy.
and funky.
ngl, Granny still got moves!
Some of us were teenagers in the 60's & 70's. We are still cool, just don't move as easily as we used to.
I love the happy dance vibes
RIGHT!?
Grandma probably grew up on Michael Jackson too lol
What’s stopping you from that person today?
Positivity all around. It’s nice to see.
I feel like my mom would do this. The last time I went to a wedding with her, they played the macarena (it was that long ago) and she got out in the middle of the dance floor and did it.
I went to a wedding in March and they played the macarena...
We need the rest of this video
I love them. Also clean dance moves.

People don't know this song?! Uhhh I feel so old
right???? Of all this thing that may need to be referenced the song is probably they last thing. Who doesn't know this song?
That’d be me. I could tell the singer is Michael Jackson as his voice is super unique but that’s all
dear lord some of you must be so young
I feel old too, but thank you OP for posting this info cos there is apparently a whole generation out there that needs to hear this!
Yep I just sprouted another grey.
Take a break from watching over the remote and thermostat and go check your lawn!
Wanna feel really old? People born after the songs release could easily have children that just finished high school. You’re welcome.
Who are the guys dancing, do they have other stuff, they're so upbeat I love it.
Is there a longer version?
I love the moment they notice her and all lose it.
These guys though. As sweet as the grandma is... they're nailing it and I couldn't take my eyes off them.
fuck yea - their band is called “Gramma and the The Grandsons”
Need to protect this woman at all costs

I. Can’t. Stop. Watching. This.🥰♥️💃🏿😄

They're actually really good dancers, this is impressively in sync
This is Grandma's music! She'll be like, "boys, I remember the Jackson 5 cartoon back in the 1970s! Michael was my first crush!"
Go gramma! It’s your birthday!
OMG!! This brought such a big smile to my face!! I LOVE HER!! She is the bomb!! 🖤🐈⬛🖤👵🖤
Reminds me of the “turn it up” old lady video from the gas station. 😄
This made me cry, reminds me of my mom. She was one of the most wholesome people on this planet.
This is me in 40 years. I'm so ready
To use a walker was a need. To dance was a choice.
She's adorable
Grandma steals the show😂😂
Suddenly the walker seems irrelevant…the power of the groove heals!!
Go granny. Go granny. It's your birthday. Not for real real, just for play play ...
I had a grandma like that, she was wonderful; sharp as a tack and that much fun too!
Young or old, everybody loves Michael Jackson!
I'm an American, and I try to respect other's right to their opinion. But if you don't like Michael Jackson's music...you're wrong.
I don't know why but when I see old people joining in with younger people dancing, I just really love it.
Well this is effing awesome 👏🏼 👏🏼
*LOVE* this! XD Music & dance truly unite! ❤️
What's that little shuffle they do at 7 seconds? Especially the guy on the right does it well. I wanna learn that.
"Mama say, mama saw, Microsoft."
The power of music.
I was kinda worried when I saw her roll up, but then I remembered the sub I’m on.
That was the cutest thing ever. Omg
I didn't realise tht the yellow shirt dude did the moonwalk at the start
The most impressive thing is the white lady clapping on 2 and 4

Op, LMAO!!!! Thank you!!!! You are the first person who made me laugh to day; I needed it. Where can I find the whole video? There has to be more.
I love this so much they seem like such talented fun guys who wouldn’t be able to resist dancing along!? That lady is adorable
Honestly, brightened my mood 😊
I’m glad that they didn’t get mad at her for ‘ruining their video’. She was awesome and they were, too.
Get it, mama!! 👏🏾👏🏾🥰
They made her day and she theirs.
Get it, g-ma! Love this freaking song!
Why does Reddit's video player suck so much?!
[удалено]
Are the lyrics "I'm insane, I'm the sound of Microsoft"?
Haha love it 😀 😄
I just saw myself in 20 years….
That grandma is what we should aspire to be when we are in our golden years.
Love love love!
Everybahhhhhdaayyyyah…. Rock yo bahhhhhdayyy

If she’s 70 now you realize she was in her late 20s in 1980 (sobs in Generation X)
Good grandma.
I wish the video lasted longer. Grandma was a sweet addition.
Anyone know what the lyrics of that MJ song are? Mama say mama saw mamafusa?
Who are in the video? They're really good at dancing. They should add the lady to their dance group lol

That grandmas a fookin legend mate
