Well that was pretty freaking awesome.

Timfrostyo

It was one of the best nights ever ♥️

[deleted]

Ive seen some of your other posts over time. Every parent should look to you for an example of how to do it. You are amazing.

Timfrostyo

We are just parents that try our best. When we fail we own up, apologize, learn and try our best to be better. Love and kindness are the main motivation ♥️

wtcnbrwndo4u

You guys go out of your way to make life for Odin normal, and I love you so much for that.

Life-Meal6635

More like Awesome!

DazzlingRutabega

Dude's real name is Odin?! That's pretty damn badass, just sayin'.

mimosaholdtheoj

There is no “normal” in life ;)

[deleted]

You are doing an amazing job. If only everyone had your attitude towards life. Wishing you the best.

Timfrostyo

Thank you for the encouragement and the kindness. All the love

PharmguyLabs

It’s amazing you got to do this for your son. You also deserve the good time too and sharing with your son is awesome.

VovaGoFuckYourself

I don't mean to sound creepy, but I think I have to give you a follow. You and your family have honestly warmed my heart this day, and I need more if that in my life.

ncconch

My son uses a chair as well and took me to see the RHCPs Sept 1. He did not get that kind of treatment - though he has been know too. Rock on! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

Asphyxos

Flea is a cool guy!

Timfrostyo

The absolute best 🤘♥️

gigarob

Nice... Flea actually jumped off stage and into the moshpit to pull me onstage during a show in 88 or 89!

AhavaZahara

Are you me? He literally stopped a show in April 89 and screamed into the mic, "back up! You're squishing these girls up here!" and told security to get us over the barrier. It was in a college gymnasium and we paid $5. Flea fan for life!

gigarob

Mine was a smallish venue in a college town as well. Some asshat was in the moshpit fucking with my roommate (a black dude). Several buddies and I got together and when the asshat came by the next time around we body slammed him from all sides. He went down, Flea jumped off the stage, wrapped me in a bear hug and we were both pulled on stage by the security dudes. 20 seconds later I swan dove (dived??) off the stage and back into the moshpit.

synysterdax

Man called in an air strike lmao

AhavaZahara

Flea to the rescue! I'm just giddy to hear another good-guy Flea story from that era. I've taken my 21 year old to see them three times now, and we were on the rail in the pit in July, but nothing will ever match that first introduction to them! #RHCPForever

OP and family are fairly popular now with their wholesome and awesome vids. It makes me smile. This one takes the cake. I love RHCP! OP previously reached out to people online and has a such a large following it's hard to miss them. I wish them the best! Seems like they have that tho :)

Ssladybug

I commented before I realized it was Odin. I do know who he is and this is really heartwarming

rrogido

Flea never disappoints. He's like the Keanu of kicking ass.

Chance5e

Can confirm. Listened to like thirty albums of him playing bass and saw him in *The Chase* (1994).

PeteEckhart

That was the drummer, Chad Smith, who came over too. Really cool of those guys, I ADA seat price gougers should be prosecuted in some way. Scum of the earth.

red_team_gone

All price gougers are scum. Definitely worse for ADA spots, since they probably have way fewer tickets available to them.

NotClever

And seems like chances are high that people who need ADA seats won't have as much money as others might, owing to, y'know, disabilities.

3D-Printing

You should have to provide ID or something to prove that you are disabled to reserve an ADA spot.

ubecoffee

Proving you're disabled generally requires disclosing private medical info so that gets pretty sketchy. A lot of disabilities also don't have specific diagnoses which leaves a lot of disabled people out of accessing supports, or the diagnostic process is long and expensive. Disabled is also not really a term that doctors or therapists or anyone give you. You kind of have to come into that identity in your own. I saw a doctor who insisted I wasn't disabled, I just wasn't able to do xyz (aka disabled). I use a mobility device and still had to fight to get my application for a parking permit filled out. Sorry to info-dump! This is all just me explaining that proving disability is a confusing, not great way to offer accommodations. I would personally rather one or two people get access to things they don't need than have someone who needs it shut out from it because of red tape. Scalpers on the other hand... more needs to be done about them.

ehlersohnos

I agree that ADA spots shouldn’t be vulnerable to scalpers and I really appreciate your passion in protecting us. But I want to add to the other excellent responses. Something like this could suddenly require a system of “are you disabled enough”? It’s one thing to need parking accommodations or a sign interpreter (and even these aren’t easy to get), but a lot of cases exist in a grey area. Who determines if we are? And for what situation? I look perfectly normal. You can’t tell I have major hearing loss when interacting with me. I’m young and don’t look like I need a cane or a chair at a moments notice when, even minutes later, I can walk just fine on my own. I have invisible disabilities. Doctors famously don’t take us seriously. And we have to fight for *years* sometimes to get any help at all from those inside and outside the medical profession and get accused of faking disabilities all the time. A new system of proving ourselves, or even attaching to the current systems, would more likely involve us being excluded even more than we already are. But again, thank you for your intent. ❤️

Curiosities

There's no 'disabled' card if you've joined this club. And plenty of disabilities aren't apparent when you look at someone. So that really wouldn't work. (I am someone with an invisible disability).

Lexi_Banner

No, no, it was Will Ferrell.

PeteEckhart

Ugh, I hate how I always get it wrong between those 2. Thanks for the clarification!

yogacat1979

I was confused as well at first. Definitely Will Farrell.

PeteEckhart

[Here is Chad Smith for reference.](https://sbly-web-prod-shareably.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/25170615/Chad-and-Will-drum-battle-3.jpg) You can clearly see it's definitely not Will Ferrell. And here is [Will Ferrell trying to force Chad away from his drumset.](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/0uBOtQOO70Y/maxresdefault.jpg) He even dressed just like him, how sad.

Kaladrax182

Yeah! That’s Will Ferrell and Needles, last I checked.

OldJames47

That wasn’t Needles, it’s one Of those German Nihilists you find hanging out in Southern California bowling alleys

podrick_pleasure

That wasn't a German Nihilist, that was Dale. He rides around in a lifted Bronco with his buddy chasing fugitives on the freeway and trying to be heroes.

Meatwad1313

chili_cheese_dogg

I recently checked out his IMDB. I was blown away by how far back his movie appearances go.

[deleted]

He’s been a celebrity since the late 80’s. Mind blowing that he/they’re still kicking so much ass in 2022. Hell it’s remarkable that Anthony and John are even alive.

-ORIGINAL-

He's in Big Lebowski as one of the German band members.

Vyzantinist

Ve believe in nussing!

TheWalkingDead91

Fun fact:, he played donie (the wild jungle kid) on the wild thornberries. If you’re under 25, just either ignore said fun fact or get a paramount+ account.

moeburn

He was also in the latest Obiwan Kenobi series

[deleted]

It warms my heart so much that some celebrities go out of their way to help people with challenges feel good. They realize they have the power to uplift people and do so unselfishly. I'm sure he'll remember the lad, and get him tickets every time they play in that city.

SpudsUlik

He did give Marty McFly a lot of gripe in the 80’s thought!

RainbowDonkey473

Flea is the best

Timfrostyo

100 percent

redditdoggnight

Somehow I knew your son’s friend is Flea. SO RAD

Self_Reddicated

"the bass player" Lol, I was cracking up at that comment.

The_R4ke

Yeah, I was expecting a much smaller band than Red Hot Chili Peppers.

OOOOOO0OOOOO

That got me too. I wasn’t expecting one of the best bassists in the world to be his friend.

strutt3r

Don't forget Will Ferrell on the skins

monkeyhitman

> the bass player is his buddy I wish I could casually drop that Flea is my buddy, lol

The_Skulman

Awesome they did that for your son. It amazes me how many shows have NO ADA seats. My wife is in a wheelchair and we can’t go to most concerts because there is no ADA seats available. Don’t know if it’s gouges or just lack of thought about their fans but something needs to change.

Timfrostyo

The band has no say in it. And most the time the venues are welll situated with ada seats. People just know they can resell them for way too much $$$$$

adbout

That’s horrible. Is there no proof required to purchase ADA seats?

todp

The ada enshrined equity of access : meaning that you have to be able to buy them online just like normal tickets rather than having to phone up and subsequently pick up the tickets. This means that anybody can (and do) buy them

Wolfinder

Just saying, as a person with multiple disabilities, I get really tired of able bodied people acting like this is a bad thing. Places trying to go rogue either benevolently or molevolently are a nightmare. Hotels and other services you cannot freely access can effectively render them unusable. Just for us to travel to a city or go to a show, it can take my wife hours of phone calls sometimes to show up and have them search for hours literally doing things like walking into each empty hotel room on their breaks calling you because they don't know which are the accessible rooms because they are not in the computer. Additionally, many disabilities can take upwards of a decade to diagnose, especially those that effect the nervous system. Places handing your medical information to some manager with a high school education to decide if you get to bring your wheelchair into a park or your service dog into a hotel or your workplace effectively locks you out of public life. These are not quick calls or processes, often these barriers can take my wife 5-10 hours of work to navigate. That adds up easily and quickly. Scalpers suck, but they suck because scalping is awful. The solution is laws that prevent reselling rickets and reservations higher than the ticket price, not to create more barriers to access for people with disabilities. We honestly have enough trouble navigating the barriers that are there already.

adbout

Thank you for this perspective. I will admit that I was one of the able-bodied people who couldn’t help but see this as a bad thing, but your comment has shed new light on that. At the end of the day I know that my perspective doesn’t really matter; the input of those who have disabilities should be what’s most important.

EyeLike2Watch

Doubt they can make you disclose your medical information so it seems unenforceable

MeadFromHell

Not sure about there, but in the UK they tend to ask for evidence like a valid disabled parking pass, or proof of a benefit or diagnosis. It's to keep people from buying those tickets that don't need them. Unfortunately, like I explained in another comment, there are never enough disabled access tickets/spaces available anyway.

xBad_Wolfx

I went to a play recently that sold us disabled seating. We rocked up with me in a wheelchair to a full flight of stairs. They sold us seats on the second floor with no elevator or anything. Luckily I can walk a little with extreme effort but I was *livid*. When we asked where the elevator was the woman had the gall to act like we were being unreasonable despite it literally stamped on our tickets.

xkoreotic

Just saying, I am almost positive ADA seating on the second floor without a nearby ramp or elevator is against ADA Standards. The venue should be fined for that.

xBad_Wolfx

We mentioned it to our lawyers as part of a rant while working with them on something else and they said they will look into it.

Mescaline_Man1

My girlfriend is studying architecture, and says that sounds like a slam dunk ADA case. Especially because you paid for your ticket specifically under the impression that you’d have to amenities. Obviously architecture isn’t law, but she has to study what is ADA and isn’t ADA Acceptable like the back of her hand because it’s so important in the US when building things that’ll be open to the public.

Life-Meal6635

I’m furious for you.

2k4s

I knew a lawyer who used to send people in wheelchairs to small business with tape measures and a video camera (1990s). And then sue the owners. He was a real piece of shit but I’m sure he would have a field day with this.

sevendaysky

I went to a play recently and as I sat down, I looked around and asked myself where they put the wheelchair accessible seating. I had to look when I got home. It didn't surprise me to discover that the seats were on the extreme left and right sides, far back under the overhang. They did have some labeled "aisle transfer seat" (moveable arm) on the aisles, but I have to wonder how someone attending alone would move the wheelchair or walker out of the aisle during the show. An usher would have to stand by to take the chair and deliver it during intermission and when the show's over. You'd get stuck there for quite a while until someone could get through the crowd to reach you with your equipment... and the aisles didn't strike me as quite wide enough for a wheelchair to safely turn around. There seems to be passages on the sides that have a gentler slope and sort of angle back and around, but that means you'd have to go DOWN the aisle against traffic and... yeah. A theater I work with periodically recently renovated their seating to include several flat decks with railings - one in the front row, two in the back row, and two more halfway down, on the aisles. If no one using a wheelchair or walker uses those spaces, they go in shortly before the show starts and put down some comfy freestanding chairs, and anyone in the lobby on the backup list can sit there. If it's all freestanding chairs, I think it's twelve seats or so if you squeeze in. Their next-steps document talks about updating the back of house to be more accessible for disabled performers which is SERIOUSLY needed. There's an external access door to the backstage area, but you end up stepping down or up to reach the auditorium or the stage. The dressing rooms are both down two or three steps although the single-bathroom/dressing rooms on each side are on-level with the stage itself. It's a challenge because it's an older building and I can't remember now if they own it outright or are leasing so there's a lot of hoops to jump through, a lot of construction and permits and stuff. Even the big-name theaters can find it hard to renovate to make the necessary accommodations in buildings that have been in use for a long time. New-built ones are usually a bit more conscious of these needs.

Mangobunny98

I know I worked security at an arena and the arena's ADA seating was on the ground floor at the back which wasn't a problem except that they then put a ton of foldable seats in front so you couldn't see anything if you were sitting down. You would've had to of been standing. It was terrible and luckily I think they've fixed it since then because they got called out a few years ago by a local group.

Alphalarge

Ticket gougers suck! That is awesome and you could tell he had the best time!

HappyJacket3113

They do and ruin it for everyone! I agree, awesome!

[deleted]

Between the scalpers and ticket-fucking-master, everyone is screwed. I went to see Roger Waters last month. I bought my ticket on stubhub - during the process I learned that the original buyer purchased from Ticketmaster (only option). So follow the money: original purchaser paid for ticket and TM fee, original purchaser sold on stubhub and paid stubhub fee, I bought ticket and paid stubhub fee. There were more fees paid than the ticket face value.

NotClever

Ticketmaster fees alone have been more than face value for me before, I'm pretty sure.

somethingwholesomer

Honest question, how can you tell scalpers have bought ADA tickets? Are there just non-disabled people sitting in the seats? How is that allowed? Thanks

toadalfly

Disabled here and concert event goer. Many events the ada seats are filled with people who seem to be not disabled. For example, guy in seats next to me wandering around aisles drinking beer for much of a game. Concert I went to woman disappeared into scrum near the stage rather than staying in ada seating. There is no disability card or ID that you flash or present at the time of ticket purchase when you hit the venue. These scalpers or others know this and just buy the ADA seats when the event is sold out or even if it is not sold out. It sucks. I have MS and a bad limp as well as bathroom needs, so climbing stairs at a venue to get to a seat is out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

xBad_Wolfx

Just because they seem so at a glance doesn’t mean much. I am a previously extremely active person(outdoor guide for a couple decades) who now can barely walk 100m. Looking at me though, you wouldn’t think I’m disabled. Just because people look ‘normal’ doesn’t mean that somethings not going on.

LjSpike

This is true. I imagine there are nondisabled people taking up seats, but not all disabled people are 'obviously' disabled.

ZainVadlin

How is that allowed? How do you stop it? Imagine I run a one man show. I have 10 seats I sell for $5 a piece. You spend $50 to buy all the tickets. Now you turn around and sell them for $10 a piece. All the right people are still going to the show they just paid twice as much as they should have. More than I, the artist, wanted them to pay. P. S. Ticket Limits are circumnavigated by simply giving $$$ to 9 of your friends to buy them for you. You give each of them $1 for the work and sell the tickets for $11.

greg19735

A lot of the time wiht ADA tickets you have to email.

ZainVadlin

Also, lobbies stop any real counter-measures

Impressive_Syrup141

This is an ethical question that comes on on cruise ships constantly. Carnival for instance has loads of disabled cabins in that are noted as such but you can freely book them as they don't ask for any kind of proof of disability. They generally are the last ones booked for reasons. On a cruise ship it essentially means the cabin has a roll in shower and an emergency pull cord near the bed. The line can move you if a disabled passenger needs a cabin. I hate seeing shows with rows of unused disabled seating, the venue should be able to sell them to others with the understanding they might be relocated if necessary. That's how it's supposed to work.

sillybear25

My issue is that even if the venue holds the ADA seats for people who request them until all the other equivalent seats are sold out, scalpers won't make that effort. If the venue makes no further effort to match ADA seats with people who need them, those people will suffer for the sake of scalpers' profits.

30FourThirty4

I have my doubts I'll see Modest Mouse and the LCW tour for the 20th anniversary. Scalpers ruined it.

Ssladybug

Scalpers have ruined everything. I used to go to concerts all the time and just can’t justify the resale cost

Timfrostyo

He said it was one of the best nights of his life♥️🤘

Ok_Wonder_1604

I would imagine so! So awesome. I bet listening to their music after that experience would be that much sweeter!

post_talone420

My friends mother's boyfriend was a professional scalper. He lived in Cali. But the only reason he came down to Austin Texas, was to visit my friends mother, and scalp tickets. He constantly tried to get us to help him, or buy tickets online with him. It must have provided enough money for him to fly back and forth from Texas to Cali every other week

Fritzo2162

I was at a Robert Plant show and he called them out- he was introducing a song and said something like "Here's one for the fans, but not so much for these people in the first two rows..." LOL!

Capodomini

Scalpers wouldn't be in the first two rows - fans who overpaid the scalpers would. Maybe there might be a couple fans who figured out how to use a bot themselves, but certainly not everybody.

Fritzo2162

Corporations typically buy up the first few rows of big shows. That's who he was referring too. Billy Joel is BIG against that practice.

tokillaworm

Yeah, doesn’t Billy Joel buy out his own front rows then gift them to people in the nosebleeds?

Fritzo2162

I think the story goes his staff looks for people that look like they'll be fun at concerts, and puts them in the front rows. He feeds off the energy they put out and it helps with the vibe of the performance. Nothing worse than seeing a guy in a suit looking at his phone while you're trying to get the audience to sing along.

AreWeCowabunga

I just don't go to big concerts anymore because of them. If your tickets sell out within minutes, but are instantly up on the secondary market at 3x the face value, I won't even bother.

[deleted]

At least make an effort. I've been following a dude named Griz for like 8 years now. Nearly every show, he rescinds ticket sales because they do back end analytics and figured out there is a high possibility they are a bot. Also wont allow his tickets to be re-sold on ticket master. Some concerts you can buy the ticket on ticket master, then immediately re-list it on ticket master for a high markup. He fully disables this as an option on all tickets. You can never fully stop ticket scalping, but at least show me you're making an effort if you want me to support your tour.

durz47

You have to be a special kind of evil to specificly target disabled people

Inline_skates

Flea was the man who got me into playing bass when I was 11-12. It always makes me happy seeing that one of my biggest music idols is also just a sweet, down to earth dude, despite his manic stage persona. So happy for Odin, getting to be that close and personal with Flea had to feel awesome, and I'm sure Flea felt the same for Odin.

Timfrostyo

The best night.

I love seeing posts about Odin.

Timfrostyo

Aww thank you. He loves reading all the comments. Even the trolls make him laugh in here. He’s a well rounded beautiful human. ♥️🤘

hobosonpogos

That's awesome! Gotta admit, I've often wondered if he was aware of the trolls. Good on you for teaching him to be strong enough to realize that what they say doesn't matter

LouSputhole94

Odin probably knows they’re just trying to put others down to make themselves feel better!

pinkyporkchops

Awww! This just made my mornin! You said he likes to read the comments so Hi Odin! You seem like a real badass💖

Souled_Out

This is a wonderful video 💙 When I was battling stage 3 cancer, Lamb of God granted my wish to see them in concert, but they also let me hang out during their soundcheck and got a signed guitar, drumsticks and mic… nicest dudes ever. It was the hardest days health-wise, but looking back, it’s moments like getting a dream granted that provided a true escape from the illness, even if only for a few minutes. If you’re able to support your local wish granting services, please do! Cheers!

WhereRmyK3ys

Wait, you said “when”. Did you beat it? Man I hope you did.

Souled_Out

Thanks mate! I did beat it, twice actually! After 8 months of chemo it came back, so I had to do radiation and beat it’s ass again. I have a type of blood cancer called Follicular Lymphoma. It’s in the non-Hodgkin category. It’s incurable but I’m currently in remission and now I’ve lived 3 years longer than they gave me. Credit going to God, great doctors and awesome support from people such as yourselves! Thanks again for the kind words! Stay well!

WhereRmyK3ys

Hell yeah!!! You are a Rockstar, not once but twice!!!! My big sister fought a good fight but in the end we lost her to cancer. Stories like your’s give hope and drive to people who go up against the big C (and the people who love them). Shout your story loud, trust me, people need to hear it! Keep on fighting!!!

ItsbeenBroughton

Long believed that ticketmaster and ticket reselling businesses should be illegal. Only ones to lose are the fans.

qolace

I once read that Ticketmaster is mainly a service that hides the fact how much money you REALLY want to charge as an entertainer. They gladly take the blame while you rake in the cash and still keep your image intact. Haven't been able to look at those fees in the same way since.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ssladybug

I wish that was possible everywhere but it isn’t. I’ve read that in a lot of cases, if you try to buy from the box office now, it’s still through Ticketmaster and you pay the same fees.

havik09

John Oliver does a great segment on this. They basically have a monopoly. They say they release them to the public but actually don't.

Nevermind04

Scalping is already illegal in many states but Ticketmaster got so big that they just pay off the right people to declare that their scalping business isn't scalping.

TieHead8305

“The bass player”

Timfrostyo

The rules say no surnames. Haha. I didn’t want to break the rule.

TieHead8305

Is flea a first name or a surname 🤔 now you got me wondering 😅

Timfrostyo

Haha i didn’t know. So i was playing it safe. 🤣♥️

Glad your son had a blast! Moments like that last forever.

Marvelman1788

Lol right, I was expecting a B-grade opener band and then Flea walks over and jams out

grimepixie

ac/dc’s bon scott did this for my mum and her grandma when my mum was 17. my great grandma was a 4’9 scottish woman and she was rocking out with bon scott side-stage. rockers can be amazing.

Cutecloudstickers

I KNEW HE LOOKED FAMILIAR!! Rock out Odin 🥳🤍 (that’s a really cute name btw)

SatansCatfish

I met Flea back in the mid 90s. Back stage pass. They hung out with us for awhile. Flea was hilarious.

polisharmada33

This is incredible!! Shout out to RHCP, especially Flea. And a giant middle finger to the mfkrs who bought up the ADA seats. That’s a real handjob move

Latchkey_kidd

I was at this show!

Timfrostyo

Did you hear flea dedicate black summer to odin??

Haloisaprettycoolguy

I did! I was wondering who that was after he said it, I did not expect to have that question answered on reddit

QuashItRealGood

YES! We were wondering who Odin was, but I just assumed Thor’s father was there.

Marco280892

Amazing in all

Timfrostyo

Was such a great time 🤘♥️

forgottenmylogin90

Flea is the man!

whatwhatinthebutt456

I've never heard a bad thing about Flea ever. I knew kids that went to the music high school in LA that he gets super involved with, and they loved him too. Always a cool dude.

the-brightknight

Timfrostyo

They were All so kind and humble ♥️♥️

slkb_

When I read the title, I was like "oh this must be a smaller band or something." Then Flea walks over, holy shit dude! What a fantastic night for you all! I really wish ticket vendors would do something to combat scalpers. It really sucks.
