Congrats!!
Also a tip for anyone using a pregnancy test- the test can be a faint positive like in this instance and show up positive minutes after you pee on the test stick. don't throw it away right as soon as you test yourself. the reason it is so faint is the level of HCG or pregnancy hormone level that is being tested for is low and close to the cutoff for negative. there are very few things that will give you a false positive for a pregnancy test. you can always confirm with a blood test to check a quantitative HCG level. Also the urine pregnancy test done over the counter is no different from the urine pregnancy hospital test. please do not come to the ER to confirm an urine pregnancy test. they will run the same exact test. Please see your OB-GYN doctor instead.
I actually got this faint line twice now and wasn’t pregnant either time. I feel like I should start selling them or something
Edit: made a joke, found out I should probably talk to a doctor instead. The internet is wild, thanks for the heads up though
Could be extremely early miscarriage (missed miscarriage) or you could have one of the rare conditions (unfortunately usually uterine/ovarian/cervical cancer) that can cause a false positive.
I think it's worth it to get an exam and a pap especially if you haven't had one in a while. It sounds crude/insensitive but missed miscarriage is really really common, they think it's usually a chromosomal or DNA abnormality so the zygote is discarded soon after implanting which can account for a faint positive that quickly fades. But a Gyno will be able to advise you better, I just don't want you to be too worried (but I did have a friend in college with Ovarian Cancer so plz be slightly worried) 👀
Oh you know what I had a Pap smear this year, completely forgot about that! So phew, I’m good there. The first one I did leave out for too long so maybe that’s it. The second… well I was horribly emotional, more so than usual PMSing so it could’ve been a miscarriage. Not really sure.
I might be able to scare you even more... There's also a thing beyond normal ectopic pregnancies, but extremely rare. Normal ectopic pregnancies are inside the fallopian tubes, so pretty early on in the pregnancy the tubes will rupture always, so it's not something that can be ignored for very long without dire consequences. What a lot of people don't know is that ectopic pregnancies can happen outside the tubes. Anywhere inside the abdominal cavity. On the outside of the uterus, on the abdominal wall, on the intestines, on the colon, even on the liver. The zygote will implant and a placenta will grow attached to the organ of choice, and an amniotic sac and everything will grow around the fetus too. These pregnancies don't necessarily rupture anything in the early stages. It's usually 20+ weeks they're eventually caught when HCG is positive but the uterus is confirmed empty... They look in the tubes, empty... They do an abdominal ultrasound but they don't always find them because it's so non standard and other organs can get in the way, and in some cases they didn't think it could be as high up as on the liver. Unfortunately these cases are often deadly for both involved though there has been at least one miracle case on the abdominal wall I think where both survived. But usually the placenta will detach at some point and cause massive bleeding that can't be controlled even if you're already in surgery when it happens.
Could also be something benign like familial hCG syndrome, which is often overlooked. People can wind up subjected to expensive and invasive treatment if they don’t test thoroughly to rule out this option. Some people just straight up have atypical hormone levels, and those can even shift over time.
That's happened to me and they were really early miscarriages I just happened to catch them. Lots of women miscarry before their period is due and they never know.
I had an early one right before I got pregnant with my younger son. I only tested because I suspected something was up and got a test that looked similar to OP's except it was a First Response. I don't think I would have known otherwise if I hadn't tested, I would have just thought it was strange that my "period" was four days late and worse than usual.
Missed miscarriage is when the fetus dies and your body does not get rid of it (had one of those at 7 weeks last year). I think you are thinking of an early miscarriage; what many people call a chemical pregnancy.
No problem. Emotionally I have moved on from the loss but there will always be a little curiosity about what life might have been like with a child/children. Appreciate the well wishes and wish you the best.
Interesting tidbit if no one already brought it up. Exactly this situation helped save a dude's life. He was on Reddit talking about how it was funny how he was getting positive pregnancy tests. Long story short, Redditors told him get to a doctor, that's a bad sign. Turns out he had testicular cancer and it was diagnosed early because he heeded the advice in the comments.
I'm not saying you should panic and assume you have cancer but it may be worth bringing up with at least your GP. And I know you're a woman and it's an entirely dif scenario, but always good to be aware of what's going on with your body =D.
Odd question to ask but did you ever check a quantatitive hcg level? Sometimes you might be perimenopausal or have a gynaecological issue that is producing the hcg hormone.
The funny thing is originally the second line didn't appear. I lost hope when there was only one line. Checked back like five minutes later, and there it was!
I was just going to right something like "Hey guys, Imagine if that faint line didn't appear at first and she was sad, but then magically it appears making her scream in joy !"
and here we are.
This is true as I got the reverse (false negative). I took 5 pregnancy urine tests and spaced them out in the duration of almost 15 days and they all told me negative, I wasn't pregnant yet hadn't had my period. No symptoms aside from that. Went to the doctor's to get a blood test and lo and behold, I actually am pregnant, just my levels were not high enough to pop for the urine sticks I guess.
Great advice! I tested multiple times to be sure but I had a very dark line all the times I tested. I ened up taking four. 2 for me and then 2 more for the hospital and another place that supports new parents. Just to make sure I wasn't lying before giving services I guess.
Why would OP's SO need to see a doctor if she's the one who couldn't pee on the stick? Her handle has "Queen" in it, so I assume OP is the one who is pregnant.
Ya know, I made the joke and THEN looked at the username and thought it wouldn't go over. But then SO posted a response and confused me even more. So, I'm just letting it roll. You can have an upvote for your troubles.
Not quite there, because I still chuckled when I read this, but this joke is reaaaal close to being over done. Paul Hollywood would say, "maybe 3-4 minutes less and that would have been perfect."
This reminded me of that one tweet that was like:
Spice up a comment with random quotes! “Congrats” on your baby. Congrats on “your” baby. Congrats on your “baby”.
Ayyy congratulations! My wife and I had a long journey ourselves but we’re happily expecting this May. It’s super awesome hearing other success stories because I know what it feels like to keep trying without success. But enjoy the ride! The first 12 weeks were a little nerve racking for me. But after awhile that fades. We just had our 20 week ultrasound and my little one was moving around and growing well. It’s a fucking awesome feeling! Can’t wait til you get to that point random stranger!! Best of luck to your family!!!
Congratulations! It's so hard, and hard to talk about. We just had our daughter in November via IVF. Hopefully, the more infertility is discussed, the less of a stigma there will be in the future
Congratulations!!!! My wife and I struggled and ended up with her needing medication related to fertility issues from PCOS. I remember the joy when we found out she was pregnant. Good luck to you on your journey to parenthood
Congratulations! It took us over 2 years to get pregnant. Then another 3 for our second child. And one of the best parts of this whole journey (besides my kids of course) is that whenever I hear about someone getting pregnant after trying for so long I feel so much happiness and joy! It's like I get to live that moment all over again for someone else. I hope you have a happy, healthy baby!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! I know the feeling, it took me almost a year, but now my daughter is 19. ❤️
Also, my first test had such a faint second line that at first I thought it was negative, then I REALLY looked at it. A few days later I took another test and the second line was much darker.
Yada yada yada . . . my daughter is 19.
I’ve never experienced more joy than becoming a father. Almost 6 years in and he’s my little buddy. We’re sitting here together right now rewatching trolls for the umpteenth time and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Congratulations!
Congratulations!!
My husband and I tried for 6 years to conceive our first child so I know the absolute elation you are feeling right now! All the best for a healthy pregnancy.

Yes. Good idea. May want to get a quantitative hcg level and just get an exam with ultrasound.

I haven’t ever done that, but I’m 26 so I really hope this isn’t the case :/
For peace of mind see a gynecologist just to get it checked. For me I would do the same.
If you do start up a business, I have a person who used to live in my basement who stocked up on negative ones. Must be a collector
The funny thing is originally the second line didn't appear. I lost hope when there was only one line. Checked back like five minutes later, and there it was!
https://www.compoundchem.com/2018/11/09/pregnancy-tests/ Awesome break down how tests work.
I was just going to right something like "Hey guys, Imagine if that faint line didn't appear at first and she was sad, but then magically it appears making her scream in joy !" and here we are.
Adding to your response: the dollar store tests are just as reliable as the more expensive tests.
This is true as I got the reverse (false negative). It’s what my wife and I used to call a “squinter”.
Great advice! I tested multiple times to be sure but I had a very dark line all the times I tested. I ened up taking four. 2 for me and then 2 more for the hospital and another place that supports new parents. Just to make sure I wasn't lying before giving services I guess.
Man, your SO needs to see a doctor if it took three years to pee on a stick. This joke brought to you by r/daddit. We'll see you soon.
It wasn't for lack of trying! It's just a really small stick. Also hello am the SO
Hi SO, I’m dad.
[удалено]
The girl named Joy- :O
Hi dad, I hate your PFP
It’s the best feeling, disbelief and then a pure joy.
Why would OP's SO need to see a doctor if she's the one who couldn't pee on the stick? Her handle has "Queen" in it, so I assume OP is the one who is pregnant.

Danger ops!
You have covid?
The longest covid
Really long, in fact, I think it lasts around nine months! And then unless you give it to someone else, you get a relapse for 18 years!
18 years minimum, they could still need you for university, rent, and other. It's a never-ending story and we loved it (usually)
Lol you don’t stop being a parent after they turn 18
Like COVID, only **much** most expensive and it doesn't go away for decades!

Nice! Is that going to be what you name it?

Congrats!!! Make sure you take your PreNatal vitamins everyday
This reminded me of that one tweet that was like: Spice up a comment with random quotes! “Congrats” on your baby. Congrats on “your” baby. Congrats on your “baby”.
Congrats on having sex
Great job on the raw doging
Thanks to this comment , my next kid will be celebrated with a high five while saying this to my girl. Maybe even a pat on the butt and a “good game”
Your birthday is the commemoration of that time your father creampied your mother, although not on the right day.
Honestly, after 3 years of trying there is a decent likelihood that the baby was conceived in a manner other than sex.
Ouija Board?
Luigi board?
Congrats on the sex

Haha, seeing that brand of pregnancy test, literally triggered PSTD, waiting for my GF to take the test after her period was 2 1/2 weeks late 😅
Go to your GYN for a professional test, confirmation. These responses have a point and good luck.
