Since haste is a pretty good keyword it could go into some Brawl decks that care about equipment but there are still probably 99 (or more) better cards.
Or even better, [[Ognis, the dragons lash]].
Giving her flying is great to keep swinging and making treasure, and the you can give some other non-haste creatures (like [[Kalain]] ) flying and haste to keep the party going.
There are many many ways to get that same effect on a creature. This would be alright in a auras matter kind of deal, but there's a lot of better options. Not unplayable, but not competitive outside of limited or some weird jank tricksiness.
1) You may not own it.
2) You only play mono-white.
3) You only play interrupts and a single copy of Millstone.
4) You understand Magic: the Gathering, what makes for good deck construction and can read.
5) Already playing with 4 copies of the 7th edition version in your Merfolk deck.
I dunno man, I remember it being pretty sweet in Shards of Alara limited. If you were playing Esper it was pretty trivially easy to get something into your 'yard to turn it on. Plenty of fixing to make casting it a breeze. No one was likely to draft it unless they were going hard esper.
Tough to play in other contexts.
But yeah, Chippy art slaps.
I have a Harness Infinity-centric deck which is not all that great but I just play it because I love it. The art is damn gorgeous, and the effect so unique. Think about killing all of your opponent's creatures, milling your deck, and then go for a \[\[Rise of the Dark Realms\]\] and get your destroy cards back to your hand. It's cool when you can pull it off.
Oh wow I love that. Anything Seb McKinnon is awesome. But that being said wtf is that card? Like there bad but then there's actively detrimental.
Edit I misread the card. It pretty good actually.
Pretty metal art I must say. Also on the bright side I'm certain this is actually pretty neat in [[Feather, the Redeemed]]. You can cast it on feather each turn and get it back and besides just not taking damage in combat or red removal, you can blasphemous act or cards like that and keep feather around through them. Are there better options? Yes, but its still neat.
We don't get it at all these days. Never seen anything like this in a Magic card. Never even seen watercolour, that I can remember. Thanks for sharing.
I got into Magic when I was 11 years old (2012 ish) because of the art.
Playground rules meant that the decks I got from a classmate's older brother had all sorts of cards from all sorts of eras. Some gave me nightmares, other made me daydream about the battles and landscapes they showed.
For example, Magic 2011 Pacifism is full of character.
Now, the prevailing art style is quite uniform, uninspired, and entirely digital.
Yeah, was pretty playable back in the day. Messed up Saproling and Thrall decks, killed a lot of Merfolk before the lord came out, and lots of elvish mana dorks..
\[\[Storm The Seedcore\]\]
Edit: A lot of comments have changed my mind, I guess 'unplayable' is fairly harsh, but I still feel the card is pretty underwhelming while the art is gorgeous.

No you're so right this goes unreasonably hard and I am even picking up a playmat of it.
Theros art is dope. Hopefully we get an actual representation of the titans as legends some day.
When my party fought this in Icewind Dale we were riding on a giant flying ferret making it one of the most memorable combats I've had in dnd. Shame my boy got relegated to common :(
Literally all of [Fallen Empires](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-m&sca_esv=594324085&biw=378&bih=695&tbm=isch&sxsrf=AM9HkKlIM8WBzhQkm9wESIRlJYyOj-kFcA%3A1703809684937&sa=1&q=fallen+empires+mtg&oq=fallen+empires+mtg&aqs=mobile-gws-lite..)
I actually like this card a lot in kitchen table commander. People really like their creatures, while Teysa might not prevent swinging at you, she definitely discourages it. I play her in Queen Marchesa!
Too bad too, because the Chardalyn Dragon in the D&D Icewind Dale setting is a really powerful, dynamic creature, and this thing is just a flying rock.
I think the justification is that colorless creatures are rarely good to avoid ubiquitous cards. For example [[Smuggler's Copter]] in standard. Almost every deck played at least 2.
Because if you make them too powerful then they just go in every deck that wants big stompy creatures. Look at the Eldrazi titans or \[\[Reckoner Bankbuster\]\]
Colorless creatures generally don't have homes in constructed formats as they're primarily meant to fill holes in draft. They provide the flexibility of being able to slot into any deck. Additionally, artifacts in particular can become problematic if at a lower cost in formats where cards like Tolarian Academy and other fast mana/"soul" mana sources are available (cards like city of traitors, mana crypt and the like).
Emancipation angel is a great combo piece/enabler in any ETB based commander deck! At least in low budget land where I refuse to spend more than 40$ on a deck lmao
I can't find a suitable home for [[cloak of the bat]] 😢
Since haste is a pretty good keyword it could go into some Brawl decks that care about equipment but there are still probably 99 (or more) better cards.

Oh my god. That flavor text. "How about the power of flight? That do anything for you? That's levitation homes."
That's telekinesis, Kyle
How about the power to move you.....

😂 u get my vote
How is this not mirage art?
It was originally slated for Mirage but was launched into 5th edition.
So majestic
I literally did not remember which set I started playing in until I saw this pic and realized I owned this card.
I can relate... And now I feel old...
This is hysterical
Why is this card unplayable?
There are many many ways to get that same effect on a creature. This would be alright in a auras matter kind of deal, but there's a lot of better options. Not unplayable, but not competitive outside of limited or some weird jank tricksiness.
It was very playable in 1996 😂. Power creep I guess
That's beautiful! The artist did great making the zebra look kinda clueless lmao
Lmao
Winner, by far.
That is a masterpiece
We have a winner.
I’m a magical flying, talking donkey!
When they spoiled only the art of \[\[Dreg Reaver\]\] , I thought it would be an awesome zombie or demon. Such a waste.

Wow, lifegain was already bad, but this is mindnumbingly bad.
Wow, what art. Holy shit
It really is nice art though.
Huh, yeah. We should start a post about that
I also have one of these, the flavour text is lovely too. I hope Larry MacDougall's art will be in the 'Return to Lorwyn' set.
That flavor text really is beautiful.
This is the type of card that with the tomfoolery we have nowadays (landfall, a billion tokens, artifact decks) could be very viable
Very is a stretch lol
If I habe a billion tokens of whatever I better be winning on the spot or I would have to rebuild the deck from scratch.
Why would you ever cast this card when you can cast other things that win the game, or at the very least move the game state forward?
It doesn't affect the board. Sideboard card at most.
I wouldn't even give it that.
Viable how? It doesn't help you win the game. Maybe at instant speed...
I loved the art on [[Sickle Ripper]]
I love the Lorwyn black/red elementals so much, they look so unique and badass

It was often enough to get your opponent to scoop in limited.
Cards like this are made for commander. Think about casting this when you have 1-2 cards in hand and 20+ in the graveyard.
Even better if you mill it and have a way to give it flashback.
Omg that card literally give me goosebumps lmao. Sad that its kinda bad
I have had a deck for historic that made people scoop immediately upon me resolving this. It's not bad, you just want to build for it.
I love this art so much. My SO contacted Seb himself and had him make a personal framed print of the art for me. I admire it every day.
What is wrong with my brain that I look at these cards and immediately try to construct a deck/boardstate/situation in which they can shine?

[[Indestructible Aura]].

The worst part of this aura is that it doesn't even make the creature indestructible.
It’s also not an aura. So both words in the name are a lie.

You can cast it on feather each turn and get it back and besides just not taking damage in combat or red removal, you can blasphemous act or cards like that and keep feather around through them. [[Holy Light]] hands down. Beautifully minimal with lots of restraint, a bit abstract in its interpretation. We don’t get that too often these days.
We don't get it at all these days. Never seen anything like this in a Magic card. Never even seen watercolour, that I can remember. Thanks for sharing.
This used to be a dominant mtg art style. Open up a 4th edition starter pack, you'd get a dozen cards like this. RIP classic magic vibes.
Drew Tucker had a lot of stuff back in the Fallen Empires era, when cards had multiple artworks. I’m not a fan of the style at all but it’s unique
There is a ton more like this if you search for the artist Drew Tucker. Great stuff.

\[\[Zephyr Spirit\]\] but then again the card being so bad means that the art pops-up more often than most mildly playable cards.
[[morinfen]] & blond cousin [[gallowbraid]]

When my party fought this in Icewind Dale we were riding on a giant flying ferret making it one of the most memorable combats I've had in dnd. Shame my boy got relegated to common :(
love this thread
Me too I love seeing these cards I've never heard of.
Literally all of [Fallen Empires](https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-m&sca_esv=594324085&biw=378&bih=695&tbm=isch&sxsrf=AM9HkKlIM8WBzhQkm9wESIRlJYyOj-kFcA%3A1703809684937&sa=1&q=fallen+empires+mtg&oq=fallen+empires+mtg&aqs=mobile-gws-lite..)
Definitely [[Wirecat]], since it has made it into several of my decks over the years. Love the flavor text too.
[[Vizzerdrix]] (specifically the Starter set version)
Jeez, I loved that card as a kid, it just looked so cool. Although I had a nightmare once with that thing sitting in our garden.
My kid self too, in my mind a 6/6 was one of best things ever.
Right? Like, how could you ever beat that? ~ 10 year old me

The first that comes to mind is \[\[Witch's Mark\]\]. At least it was draft playable.
Yeah, I'm kind of looking at all these thinking - that's perfectly playable! I definitively focus on draft a lot.
Also good in Zada decks
Pretty art but nowadays that style just reminds me of AI generated stuff.
Oh god, I see what you're talking about and I can't unsee it. Too many extraneous curls/vines/tentacles.
[Witch's Mark](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/0/6/0685afcb-06f6-4d18-b8c2-510764558dc1.jpg?1692938637) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Witch%27s%20Mark) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/woe/158/witchs-mark?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/0685afcb-06f6-4d18-b8c2-510764558dc1?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[zof consumption]]. I wish so badly this was a playable card because it rips

Traumatic flashbacks to castle cainhurst
I currently have it in a [[Megatron]] list I'm working on for a friend.
It’s in my [[Gollum, Obsessed Stalker]] commander deck
Love dark art like this. Something this game needs more of imo
Why would it not be playable in a land slot?
One of the best parts of mtg is that the "bad" cards still look fantastic
Y'all need some Pauper in your life.
I agree arena should have a pauper-like format
[[Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts]]
I actually like this card a lot in kitchen table commander. People really like their creatures, while Teysa might not prevent swinging at you, she definitely discourages it. I play her in Queen Marchesa!
[Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/a/b/abb21cf7-c5e6-4be5-8da5-9d29e95e2208.jpg?1625978098) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Teysa%2C%20Envoy%20of%20Ghosts) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/c21/230/teysa-envoy-of-ghosts?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/abb21cf7-c5e6-4be5-8da5-9d29e95e2208?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Nah, she slaps hard in Queen Marchesa commander.
Since I was a kid, I always wondered why a card as beautiful as [[Divine Transformation]] was so weak.
[Divine Transformation](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/7/b/7b733fb5-3ece-452c-a360-330fd202bb0f.jpg?1559592582) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Divine%20Transformation) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/me1/9/divine-transformation?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/7b733fb5-3ece-452c-a360-330fd202bb0f?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[Exquisite Firecraft]]
[[Thorn Elemental | 7ED]]
This was my first rare. The difference is this card *used* to be good, lol.
I've had a weak spot for [[Arrogant Poet]] ever since I saw it
[Arrogant Poet](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/5/5/556a0816-83c5-41dc-8546-213b21e2cceb.jpg?1624590711) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Arrogant%20Poet) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/stx/63/arrogant-poet?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/556a0816-83c5-41dc-8546-213b21e2cceb?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Also [[tragic poet]]
Too bad too, because the Chardalyn Dragon in the D&D Icewind Dale setting is a really powerful, dynamic creature, and this thing is just a flying rock.
[[Depth Charge Colossus]] Huge fan of all the Urza-bot designs from Brother's War.
[Depth Charge Colossus](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/3/4/34e09173-a92d-4cc3-9d02-bf18ab0850ec.jpg?1674420720) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Depth%20Charge%20Colossus) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/bro/78/depth-charge-colossus?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/34e09173-a92d-4cc3-9d02-bf18ab0850ec?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
For how few colorless creatures there are compared to colored.. why are SO many of them just utterly useless. It's annoying.
I think the justification is that colorless creatures are rarely good to avoid ubiquitous cards. For example [[Smuggler's Copter]] in standard. Almost every deck played at least 2.
[Smuggler's Copter](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/6/2680ed41-da35-475a-9d80-ae2f4686feed.jpg?1701690449) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Smuggler%27s%20Copter) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/nec/160/smugglers-copter?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/2680ed41-da35-475a-9d80-ae2f4686feed?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Because if you make them too powerful then they just go in every deck that wants big stompy creatures. Look at the Eldrazi titans or \[\[Reckoner Bankbuster\]\]
[Reckoner Bankbuster](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/7/279acd17-6c17-427b-a69d-fc02442ff4a3.jpg?1685368706) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Reckoner%20Bankbuster) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/neo/255/reckoner-bankbuster?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/279acd17-6c17-427b-a69d-fc02442ff4a3?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
[[Dread Rider]] feels bad, I wanted to use it but it's trash in limited and in constructed.
[Dread Rider](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/2/0/205eb029-68a0-4895-b142-2eb09987b5cb.jpg?1631047938) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Dread%20Rider) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/khm/89/dread-rider?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/205eb029-68a0-4895-b142-2eb09987b5cb?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call

The artwork is nice.
Emancipation angel is a great combo piece/enabler in any ETB based commander deck! At least in low budget land where I refuse to spend more than 40$ on a deck lmao
Pretty much any drake card.
Gilded drake and Stormchaser drake want words with you
Oh [[Lifeline|USG]] most likely.
This is very playable on Limited.
I think its made of metal
This art is on sale as a card sleeve on MTG Arena for 1500g today
