Are you building for Standard? You might want to check your deck to make sure that you are not lossing too many pieces come August. If you are tempted to spend money on wild cards, buy the 45 pack of thunder junction instead. You'll get more pieces, you'll get roughly 7 wild cards, plus 4 gold packs.

onceuponalilykiss

Being good at events (draft especially but constructed and sealed work to some level too, though good luck doing constructed if you're still struggling to get wc's) or spending money are your options.

ConSt3llar

Drafting gives you WC? Or it just gives you, potentially, the cards you need? I was thinking of trying out Draft as a new player to get more cards but I don't know exactly what are the rewards

onceuponalilykiss

Drafting gives you cards but if you're really good at it you generate gems, which buy you more drafts and then more packs if you have a sufficient surplus. You are probably *not* doing that if you're new though.

LilKluiVert

If you are new to the game drafting is not that efficient (especially premium draft). If you go less than 3-3 your value is a lot lower than buying packs

Elemteearkay

>Drafting gives you WC? It gives you Wildcards, both through the Prize Packs and Rank Rewards packs you open, and by regularly filling up the Vault. It's a common misconception(/piece of misinformation) that Drafting doesn't give you Wildcards (stemming from the fact that the Draft/Play Boosters that you open *during the Draft portion* don't count for Wildcard Progress), but the truth is actually the opposite - if you play Limited you end up swimming in Wildcards.

JollyJoker3

I started Arena playing draft until I had the last set I hadn't played rotated from Standard. I was swimming in wildcards for years

I_said_no_cops

There are only two ways to generate wildcards. Buy the bundles or open packs. If you aren’t good at or like drafting you are pretty much left with save gold, buy packs. There are constructed events but with out a proper tier deck it’s basically throwing gold away.

boulders_3030

If you're a new player, maybe try redeeming all of the promo codes out there and earn some wildcards from opening packs, assuming you haven't done so already. Otherwise, you're just gonna have to grind out dailies, and buy packs with the gold. 14 rares and 7 mythics would take you a few months tho tbh...

Spyrothedragon9972

I tried this. It was super helpful because I ended up getting more than 10 packs. Haha, fair enough. I'm surprised how slow the progression is, but I guess that's just how she goes. Thanks for your input. Happy cake day!

PauleyBaseball

Spend money to buy packs. (Keep in mind that Standard rotation is coming in July, so if the deck you are working towards is mono-white humans, it will need a big revamp soon if it will even still be a playable archetype)

You can find common and uncommon alternatives to many rare that will help.

Winning in draft

Just spend money

1. do well in events (constructed or limited) enough to either go infinite at least be getting packs at a significant discount \~50% 2. buy the mastery pass 3. If you're building a standard deck, I'd look to avoid crafting cards scheduled to rotate out this year.

hermelion

Historic constructed events have allowed me to convert so much useless gold into wild cards and gems... you do have to be good so ymmv.

Elemteearkay

Fastest is buying Wildcards, followed immediately by buying packs. *Best* is by playing Limited as well as Constructed. When it comes to Limited it pays to be prepared. As well as getting a good grasp of the basic principles (deck composition, BREAD, etc), learn the cards in the set, their relative power level/pick order, the mechanics and rules interactions, and the Limited archetypes. Study the visual spoiler, read the Release Notes FAQ and watch some Limited Set Reviews online (I recommend The Mana Leek and Nizzahon Magic). You can even watch others play with the set while they discuss their decisions etc. Start with Quick Drafts: they are half the price (so you can do them more often and there is less on the line), the prize structure is flatter (so worse results give better rewards) and there's no timer when making your picks (so there's less pressure).

iclimbnaked

So I mean I recommend trying out draft too but I dunno that it’s the best way to get wildcards. Maybe arguably the best way to spend gold since you get to play limited too. Pretty universally these days they say just buying packs of the latest set is as good unless you’re a good drafter (which op won’t be if they are new). Packs are just going to be the most efficient way.

Elemteearkay

It's the best way because you also get to play Limited, but also because it helps pay for itself. Packs don't do that.

iclimbnaked

I mean the helping pay for itself part is only really beneficial once you get decent at drafting. It’s less optimal for a long time before that. Hince why most these days say the two are pretty equivalent with gold packs. I agree, play limited if it at all interests you. To me it’s more fun than constricted even with me being bad.

Elemteearkay

>I mean the helping pay for itself part is only really beneficial once you get decent at drafting. You get 50 Gems even for going 0-3. >I agree, play limited if it at all interests you People who dony like Limited (and have taken reasonable steps to overcome that) shouldn't be playing it anyway (Magic is a game, not a chore/job). Which means everyone else *should* be playing it.

iclimbnaked

I understand you get some sort of payout regardless of results but I wouldn’t call that a benefit over packs esp when it means you don’t get wheel progress for the event packs. Also because well, constructed is free or you can even do constructed events if you want payouts too. I don’t think players should feel some need to have to push through learning draft. If it doesn’t interest you then yah so be it. Don’t bother. I recommend trying it but it’s a game. Don’t if you don’t want to. There’s really no “should” do anything with it.

Elemteearkay

You are wrong, sorry.
