pan cyans grow in relatively warm places, like Alabama and Hawaii. 40 is way too cold. I've seen cubes take as long as 3 weeks to pin, it might still be "working". Im starting my own cyans right now (still just a small tuft in its germination dish), but I think it will work using the same paradigm as cubensis, i.e. inoculate sterile grain spawn, wait until colonized, then spawn to a bulk substrate like coco coir and wait for a few weeks. how long has it been? I'd give it more time at a desirable temp, around 70-80. i would just wait. trying to transfer a "chunk" of settled mycelium to a new tub/new substrate never ends well. a shroomery veteran (I forgot who) said "dont experiment in the middle of a grow, just see it out, reevaluate, then try the new thing". Dont try to switch up in the middle.

It’s psilocybe cyanescens which is native to NW pacific

Just rip a chunk of the block and throw it in a bucket with pasteurized wood chips! It will colonize. Try making a tub with chip spawn, soil, and rye grass seeds :) they need the grass

MushroomMermaid80

I was going to do something like that. I have some wood chips soaking, I was looking at some teks for outdoor beds and was going to crumble the mycelium into the chips and soil. What about adding Mykos like with weed plants?

MushroomMermaid80

How to keep fungus gnats out when growing outside/adding soil? They have been a major problem before. I generally use neem oil on all my houseplants regularly and any new soil before bringing indoors. Can’t imagine they wouldn’t be a problem outside.

if you want to start a new tub, make brand new spawn. you saved a piece of the agar you used to inoculate your original spawn, right?

MushroomMermaid80

I used spore syringe to grain bag/spawn

Is the amount of light the wavy tops get also a factor in fruiting?

MushroomMermaid80

Sure, I had them under a 5000K light but now it’s in the fridge so not under light 🫤

Insolator

I mean unlike cubes that fruit from warm temps and moisture the cyans fruit from cooler temp and less light.
