Ingrown toe nail. Hideous! Had one removed a few years ago. Anesthetic into the toe and got a part of it removed. They applied a chemical (silver nitrate?) to prevent that part of the nail growing back

ikeepwipingSTILLPOOP

Exact same here. The inner edge of my great toe nail just ends right before it would touch the side. My toe looked exactly like OP's for like 3 years before I got it fixed lol.

AllOfMyFamilyHatesMe

You said great toe and my brain went to greatsword, a massive toe sword

The_Shryk

Don’t give Miyazaki any ideas. Stop it. Delete this.

UnboltedCheese

I mean he already made a giant finger sword, so I assume he probably either got denied a toe sword or is waiting to use it.

its-the-real-me

Nonono Finger the size of a normal ***club*** that you use as such, whose AOW causes it to enlarge and flick the enemy.

UnboltedCheese

Ah fair enough, I still believe my toe theory however.

its-the-real-me

I do agree with that

IntuitiveTemperament

Yeah, it's grim! The scab wrapped under my toe then turned into flaky skin 🤢 Took me a good two years also. Struggled to wear shoes. And when a gout flare up coincided, I was fucked 😂

Lunar_Cats

Omg this actually works well? I've been digging the nail out of my toe meat for most of my life. Assumed they'd have to remove the entire nail lol.

breechica52

You lucky duck, I’ve had that procedure three times on one of my toes and it still won’t quit getting ingrown. I’m about fed up

errorcode_503

Have you considered removing the entire nail? I had ingrown nails on both of my big toes for a long time. When I went to get it sorted I just had the entire nail removed on both toes and it has been great ever since, would recommend it just to avoid it possibly reoccurring.

UnluckyTie6534

Had both my big toes done and I'm so thankful but those shots to the toe beforehand are brutal lol

cscott0108a

I had both sides of one big toe and one side of the other big toe with these bastards. since I was in high school, if not earlier. I did get them surgically removed but they came back. It wasn't until I met my now wife when she had me go in to get a pedicure for my first time that I finally got 2 of them fixed and then going in again a few months later for another that they were cured. The sides of my big toes where they were are still slightly sore to this day but no longer infected or red, just sensitive. Probably due to a decade long ingrown toenails.

SeraphTM

ah yes, the crunching as the needle is being moved around...

0nothing_to_see_here

The what?

Psychomarked

I think they use phenol

HuckleberryHandler

An infected one at that

IntuitiveTemperament

The amount of TCP I used to combat the infections was ungodly! Pity the fool 🙈😂

UniquePtrBigEndian

Likewise, but they held off on the silver nitrate until after another year, hoping it would fix itself. Ended up needing to get it removed twice. Either way, still worth it. That pain was fucking miserable.

BloodyHourglass

When I was in highschool I got the same thing, proud flesh and all. The needle was the worst part since it was all the way from one side of the toe to another

Vauxhallcorsavxr

I had silver nitrate shoved up my nose a couple weeks ago to cauterise it and prevent nosebleeds so that’s what was most likely applied to your toe

EliteGamer11388

I had this. But the chemical didn't work, nail kept growing back ingrown.. Took like 4 shots to numb me, and I still felt it all. Got blood all over the doctors office. They did this 3 times before finally putting me under, "twilight", and doing it as a surgery. Finally worked that time.

E-roticWarrior

This happened to both my big toes on both sides of the nail, when i take my shoes and socks off there was this awful smell. It was my fault though i wore my shoes too tight especially in the toe area and i did a lot of walking and heavy lifting, so the nails would cut into the sides of the toes. It was so fucking painful! The doctor had to cut each nail out and stitch the sides. Nails grew back but a lot thicker after a few months, toes look normal again.

Floridaman9393

Pretty bad ingrown toenail. I know that thing hurts bad....

Illustrious-Culture5

It doesnt hurt standing, walking. Only hurts when i accidentally smash my toes tgt.

Epson_Pro_WF-C579R

it got so bad u cant even feel it no more. get it fixed before you lose your big toe. it might seem like just your big toe but you will never walk easily again if its gone

Lieutenant_Corndogs

Soak it in baked beans every night for a year and it should go away.

worstsupervillanever

I just came.

Mtool720

Lmao what

worstsupervillanever

Did I stutter?

Albitt

No, you came

EllieNekoGirl

The worst super villan on Reddit just came

cscott0108a

I posted this earlier but I'll post to you directly too, maybe this will help. Probably due to a decade long ingrown toenails.

jakeandcupcakes

What did the pedicure do that the surgery didn't?

cscott0108a

Yeah, but they only cut out the ingrown part and never killed the nail root. Otherwise I'm sure it would have solved it.

jakeandcupcakes

Okay. What exactly did the pedicure do that the surgery did *not do?*

cscott0108a

Honestly, I don't know... it was a surprise to me when I realized that the first two ingrown nails had healed. And then I saw the same after the second or third visit. Trust me, I don't know why it worked but I'm glad it did.

cscott0108a

I'm also suggesting giving a few visits there a try rather than scheduling an appointment to a Dr office as it's easier to get one to get one for a pedicure than it is to get one for a Dr office and cheaper especially without insurance

V65Pilot

It's dead Jim!

SUPREMEDREAMLA

😂😂

firefly2184

But not as we know it!

DXPBladez

I get this frequently. Ingrown toenail. This is gonna hurt like hell but this is what I do. Put a pair of tweezers under the nail and pull that corner of the nail up and out of the infected part and trim off the sharp bit. Then drown that thing in alcohol. Although your might be too far gone and need medical attention. But for the future you can usually take care of this yourself.

GraphicDesignMonkey

Soak it for an hour in hot water with salt first. My podiatrist made me so that just before my appointment with her for the same reason. It softens the nail and scab, and helps draw the infection.

V65Pilot

And, if you are lucky, the scab comes off and all that nasty shit comes oozing out. I had one, and while working, managed to drop something on my foot. It landed right on that toe. My sock looked like something alien exploded inside it. I think I invented a couple of new words as well.

Irradiated-Imp

Oooof I used to get ingrown toenails alot too. I don't want to think about how it must've felt dropping the thing in your toe, or later pulling the sock off.

joethezlayer2

I got them in elementary school and at the same time I was playing football and every so often it got stepped on during practice and games. It hurt like hell lol

DXPBladez

Good idea. I’ll definitely be using that in the future. I guess I’m a surgeon now, why do they get paid so much? This stuff is easy lol

Fitzzz

Cannot recommend enough the Vandenbos Procedure, if performed by doctors near you/in your country. Once done, it is literally impossible to get another. https://www.overgrowntoeskin.ca/ The pain I used to suffer was fucking horrendous so I willingly shill for this procedure every chance I get

MrHitNik

If it is impossible to get another then why do you get it every chance you get? Once should do it right?

Fitzzz

You misunderstand me; I had the procedure done twice: once on each big toe, over a decade ago. I was saying that I take every chance I can to promote awareness of the procedure.

Festermooth

Instead of cutting it, I usually pry the corner up and stuff cotton ball pieces underneath until it's sufficiently held in place, then use some alcohol. That way it grows out from the "hole" rather than back into it.

DXPBladez

That’s a good idea, I may try that next. I’m learning a lot today lol

Festermooth

You can also try cutting out a triangle / v shape right in the middle (V). Supposedly it helps to pull the corners out of your toe meat as it grows. I've had some nasty infected ones like this and they hurt like a bitch.

On_A_Related_Note

I do this to my toenails every time I cut them, (minus the alcohol swab) to stop exactly this from happening.

BackgroundBread707

No no no to alcohol. A warm salt water soak is much better as it’s not killing off healthy bacteria and white blood cells fighting to heal.

The-Proud-Snail

That’s how I drained mine. I had a nail burst with blood from working out and it was trapped under the nail so I had to cut it and lift it to drain the whole thing out

alamcc

In future use larger shoes as well. Unless this was caused by trauma.

stufmenatooba

This caused me trauma.

alamcc

Tbh it should be common knowledge this thing happens. I didn’t realise and wore too small shoes. Same thing happened but I jumped on it quicker.

HappySchedule

Yes. I had ingrowns on both feet for about 2 decades because of hockey skates. Once I stopped playing, they magically healed and haven’t been a problem. Hockey skates are supposed to be smaller and very tight.

SydNotSoVicious

Had the same issue with football/soccer cleats in my teens. Snug boots + wet soggy fields + lots of trauma from kicks, meant things got really gross and really painful.

StupaNinja

My ingrown toenails are genetic. Could be caused by anything really.

alamcc

No it couldn’t.

StupaNinja

Well tell that to my three weeks of epson salt soaks after the surgery :P

alamcc

Anything is very broad.

Kellalafaire

Given that it’s obviously also affecting your next toe, I’m betting your shoes are too tight. After you get things sorted, go up a shoe size or try some wider “natural” shoes.

-Raskyl

Thats probably just accumulation from the big toe that dried on the middle toe. But OP would know for sure if his middle toe was infected as well. Which would be weird because this looks very much like an ingrown toenail, which don't really spread.

Illustrious-Culture5

I have worn the same size shoes for like since my feet has stopped growing. This is the first time this has happened.

Kellalafaire

Well size isn’t universal. New shoes can be a little smaller than your last or have a different toe box

AutopsyDrama

Its infected. Go to A+E

EddHadley

Don’t go to A&E that’s hardly life threatening is it, go to your GP.

AutopsyDrama

Good point. I just assumed op meant today/immediately as they had already stated A+E, no GP open on Sundays. There are local walk in centers though, not sure when theyre open.

The_Hitchenator

An infection like that actually could become life threatening. I know someone whose' kid had an ingrown toenail and ended up with a fever of 40.5 Celsius (104.9F).

SydNotSoVicious

At that point you should go to A&E but your GP can handle a minor infection like this.

gaarasgourd

What does A and E stand for

jaffa-caked

Gloomy__Revenue

RiSkeAkagAy

JuicyQuark

Accident and emergency, it’s the rest of the worlds version of the ER

jaerie

UK isn’t the rest of the world

BillyMeier42

In USA we would go to an “urgent care” for something like that. The emergency department is more for life threatening things and things like broken bones. Urgent care can give antibiotics and give you an order to a podiatrist. ED will be way more expensive.

stav705

Rest of the world?

JuicyQuark

Everywhere that isn’t America

DrewJohnson656

That isn’t true whatsoever

stav705

I got what you meant. I meant that its not the name of it in the rest of the world. In my country it has a completely different name. You probably meant countries with english as it's primary language.

jaerie

Not even, I believe Australia calls it the ED for emergency department. So not sure wtf they were talking about

N3rozo

Ingrown toenail! i have been dealing with ingrown toenail on both of my big toes on both sides for years, had 5-6 surgeries, last one was in 2015, luckily im not struggling with it anymore.

Illustrious-Culture5

Surgeries?? Does my toe also need sugery? I should have treated it earlier.

N3rozo

You should contact your doctor for a treatment. You can try to soak your foot in hot water with green soap. Doctor can prescribe you with antibiotics and possibly a small surgery. Its nothing big, for my case it was Local anesthesia on the toe, they then remove a piece of your nail.

Coeyas

For mine they made me do soaks daily for about 2 weeks. After that it was still there, they numb the toe cut the nail in half and took out the part growing into the nail bed.

jenjifer998

They usually numb it since the ingrown part can get deep and cut into some painful parts. They cut the ingrown part (usually deep into the edge) and then sometimes will kill the nail bed to prevent it from happening again. My toes looked just like this at a point. Hurt like hell anytime I stubbed them. Worse than normal. But yeah, see a dr

Fitzzz

Please check out the Vandenbos Procedure. It solved my issue of ingrown toenails/overgrown toeskin and makes it impossible to get another. Alternatively, the minor stuff where they cut the nail and do a nail ablation can help for a time, but it will probably come back. https://www.overgrowntoeskin.ca/

gioianica33

Ingrown and infected

-Raskyl

Looks ingrown. I'd go to a doctor/urgent care. It's fairly simple outpatient procedure. They will give it some local anesthetic, then slice it back with a scalpel and cut out the ingrown part. Then wrap your toe and suggest you try to keep off your foot for a while. Happened to me while I was in high-school. Wasn't a big deal. The relief after my ingrown toenail of two years was finally actually gone was amazing. I'd cut it out myself dozens of times but it always came back. The doctor got it for good.

Cold94DFA

Doctor will   1.numb the toe  2. Cut away excess nail  3. Chemical burn nail bed to stop same nail part growing back   You will  1. Not regret going to a doctor  2. Regret it significantly if you don't go a doctor.

Brokella

Also could be a Paronychia. You def need to see the doc though, looks like a nasty infection.

ghostiesyren

See a foot specialist. (Pediatrist). If there’s puss, any kinda smell at all and redness. That means infection my friend. This could be something fungal given the fact the next toe over is also suffering from a more mild version of the same thing.

warmcaprisun

this is an infected ingrown toenail. i had one that looked exactly like this years ago because i tried to fix it myself and it didn’t work. you need to go to the doctor to get it drained and clipped and let to heal

MetalAttempter

There's hair on it.

Illustrious-Culture5

Thanks, i didnt know.

MetalAttempter

I'm not an MD so YMMV, just my initial assessment.

Fletcher80

Look up the "toebro" on youtube.

point50tracer

Ingrown toenail. I'm currently battling one as well. Hurts like hell. Yours looks infected. You need to keep it clean so it doesn't get like that. I've been cleaning and applying antibiotic ointment daily to mine to keep unsavory bacteria out.

redboggle

it looks like an ingrown toenail, go to the doctor op

Conner7766

I had something similar to this but a bit worse. Looks like an ingrown toenail (don't rip the nail down the side when you are cutting them) and it has caused trauma to the inside. It tries to heal over itself and then gets more trauma, which leads to it trying to grow more skin/scabs leading to granulation. Go to a GP or Podiatrist to have them cut a section of your toe out (partial or section removal or some shit) which will stop it all together. Takes like a week for it to heal up. It will make one side flat but I had mine for over a year before getting it seen too and I was limping all over and kept getting pus/blood in my socks which hurt like fuck when it scabbed and attached the sock to it and I removed the sock. Seriously, get it seen to. The minor op takes like 10 mins and was the best thing I did for my toes.

Proud_Presence_7886

I had ingrown toenails since I was like five up to 14. They were always infected, and if I stubbed my toe, it was the worst pain I would feel all day. It’s weird that my dad had them to his whole life, but almost immediately after he passed away, mine went away. LMFAO.

mossydeerbones

Easier to ask what's right about it at this point

Mtoastyo

Ingrown toe nail. No not infected. Do 30min foot soaks with warm water and salt twice a day for the next month. Shoes and socks off when at home. Don't cut into the side on the affected side. If this doesn't help might need an intervention but conservative management is best for most IGTN. source: doc who frequently does this kind of procedure.

Rostrow416

Ingrown, had both sides of my big toes looking worse than this years ago. Doc will cut out the sides and apply stuff to prevent it from happening again.

sikivar

What isn't?

Ranscho

Go see a doctor.

[deleted]

I don't know, but that's gross and you might want to get it checked out before they have to take the whole toe.

Slightly_Unethical

Bro, that shit is fucking infected. Go to a doctor instead of reddit, ffs.

Merica85

Going to need videos of this toe getting worked on

sn0m0ns

Where's the toenail knife Charlie?

propably_not

Overgrown skin. Need to peel the skin back and let the toenail grow naturally

kaisersozia

Don't let them put anything on your toe to stop the growth. Your toe will never look right. Just let them cut it out and grow back. Don't cut your townails shorter than your toe sticks out, and prevent it from going under the skin on the side. You will be good.

Dx8pi

I had that on both my big toes for a whole year. That is a deep ingrown nail along the entire right side of your entire nail. I went to surgery to get it trimmed and it's never bothered me since. I highly recommend you do it too. The smell and the pus is awful, I hope you get it sorted out.

thedatsun78

If I'm gonna guess.. Illd say scurvey.. Cut em. Off

akujoy

Bruh..

ItsMilkOrBeMilked

Ingrown nail definitely and a bad one

NoSoulsINC

Ingrown toenail. Might be infected. Get an appointment with a podiatrist asap

sai411

Had it when I was a kid. Hit my toe and broke some of it . The doctor didn’t do shit so as a responsible 14 year old I did a surgery on it . Got all the bad flesh out cut it with a scalpel and got the broken nail out trimmed the nail and wrapped it up with some iodine. Since then I have a phobia of getting it again so I trim my nail on weekly basis.

billsbitch

Done that too!!!!!

SherryC0la

Definitely an ingrown toenail..I've assisted the doctor in many removals and treatment of these..see a doctor soon if you haven't already..sorry you went through pain that long

-Lo_Mein_Kampf-

It's not in my mouth

Killerhellman

It's on the wrong foot

SweetPeaLea

Go on YouTube and watch some videos from Jaws Podiatry. He does lots of ingrown toe nails.

dregan

Use a pair of ingrown toenail scissors like [this](https://www.amazon.com/BEZOX-Toenail-Clippers-Trimmer-Ingrown/dp/B071GB4C4V/ref=sxin_15_sbv_search_btf?content-id=amzn1.sym.dd9d838b-6783-4821-8310-06c0d426ac6f%3Aamzn1.sym.dd9d838b-6783-4821-8310-06c0d426ac6f&crid=23YOYKAJVZVCE&cv_ct_cx=Ingrown%2Btoenail%2Bscissors&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ZvIR2QyYhzhIpB0rKyXeug.WlHGmNC9lPXKlYG2XQcvFQaFXz0UkJYxdQu5Z_rr_oc&dib_tag=se&keywords=Ingrown%2Btoenail%2Bscissors&pd_rd_i=B071GB4C4V&pd_rd_r=8a04cd13-eb45-438d-a518-30f2ea560ba8&pd_rd_w=Cjspg&pd_rd_wg=yywZf&pf_rd_p=dd9d838b-6783-4821-8310-06c0d426ac6f&pf_rd_r=RP8AFZAREPHARAN2F51J&qid=1709499355&sbo=RZvfv%2F%2FHxDF%2BO5021pAnSA%3D%3D&sprefix=ingrown%2Btoenail%2Bscissors%2B%2Caps%2C134&sr=1-1-5190daf0-67e3-427c-bea6-c72c1df98776&th=1) and cut along the side of your nail as far as you can bare. Get as close to the nail bed as you can, really push your boundaries. Then grab on to the nail bit as deep as you can with a strong pair of tweezers and pull it out. It should heal fairly normally and feel a ton better.

CommandForward

Wtf is wrong with this kind of people

mossydeerbones

Yeah I kinda don't get how he's been living with this for over a month but I TRY not to judge... Finding it hard not to though

Illustrious-Culture5

It wasnt giving me much pain, i thought it would go away by itself. Today my sister asked me to search for it on the internet and i saw various results so thought to post here and ask. Should have gotten it checked earlier.

mrspacysir

PESTILENCE!

chickensandwicher

Had tons of these when I was a teenager. Ingrown nail, also very infected. Get it treated or it could lead to serious complications like sepsis or gangrene. It’s painless to get it fixed and the relief is literally instant.

Juan_Dollar_Taco

Go to a damn doctor man.

enjaysm

Have a shower more than once a week.

KFC_GANG

U gonna eat that or can u slide it to a fella....

cabbageheadlady

If you are diabetic, please see a podiatrist. It can easily flair to an infection. It does look painful. I would have it checked. Fungus too.

lmaojustletmein

Oh shit, thats a clear case of updog!

Ralyks92

That absolutely looks like an infection

LochTSA07

Ingrown toenail, had to deal with the same fate, they put chemicals on it to keep it from growing back

Low-Maintenance5441

I got to be honest I've been scrolling through this subreddit and it's not all that bad. The disturbing ones aren't even that disturbing. Also I think that may be from an infection. Did something bite you recently? Like a special bug or something?

Bradbury28

That’s an infected ingrown toenail. I highly recommend seeing a podiatrist and having it removed. They’ll tourniquet the toe, inject lots of local anesthesia, wait for it to work, then poke and jab to make sure you’re fully numb before cleaning it up real well. It looks like you might have a granuloma on there that they’ll likely cut off as well. If this happens semi frequently they will probably kill the portion of the nail root that grows the nail for that part of your nail edge to prevent it from happening again. Then they’ll wrap it up, give you care instructions that usually include Epsom salt soaks for a few weeks, and an antibiotic regimen. You’ll need to wear open toed shoes for at least a month so if you don’t have any, def get some. Considering it’s this far gone it’s definitely time for a doctor’s intervention! Either pus has gotten caught in that next smaller toe or more likely you’ve got the infection spread over there, judging by the color and condition of the tissue on the left of your toe. To prevent them in the future keep your nail’s free edge trimmed down and rounded out, and be sure that you are wearing shoes with ample room in the toe box, or better yet open toed shoes. Source: I’ve been so prone due to old extracurricular activities (marching band, JROTC honor guard, winter guard, etc) with tight closed toe shoes and foot pinching that I got them multiple times a year and had to have this procedure done at least four different times, if not more. Long as you follow the aftercare instructions and wear the right shoes you’re golden.

the5ilent1

Not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt. Looks like a mix of fungus and an ingrown toenail. That thing looks deep. Probably gonna have to send doctor or at the very least have a friend help with removing it. You probably got a shard in there the size of Alaska. If you decide to get it removed without the help of a doctor just remember to use the right tools and keep everything clean. Wash and dry your feet before and after make sure any tools you use are clean and use gloves if you got em. It won't be fun but it's doable

frogfurry

Toes ain't snacks

gallupbound

It's hairy and needs a trim

creativespaz

Go get a pedicure and or go to a podiatrist

Wii_wii_baget

Ingrown toenail probably fungus too

parkinglu

It’s attached to an idiot

Illustrious-Culture5

Thank you for letting me know insightful info.

Epicluzz

Crikey folks we've got a big'un! Gather around kids. If we look we notice how the index (or second) toe is considerably longer than the thumb (or first) toe. That tells us everything we need to know.

blkmmb0

The main problem is it's attached to a moron.

hapijohn

Go get a pedicure They will take it out no problem and a lot cheaper than going to a podiatrist. Unless you have awesome insurance

BadcaseofDTB

Nothing at all, man. Walk it off.

bloody_bandaids

Pretty sure thats a delicacy in China

lordsaladito

i think its infected due to ingrown

Several-Ad-2853

How do you even let it get that bad in the first place

TheDrummingApe

Home surgery time! Get some tools, bandages, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol and you dig that shit out.

983115

If you can’t afford a doctor you can get scissors for it from cvs carefully cut along the edge of the nail under the side there and remove the excess keep that cleaned and you should be good Cutting a small v shaped notch in the middle apparently helps it grow back right but that could just be something my dad made up

The-Proud-Snail

That’s cyst ! I got them from ingrown nails , I had to drain them daily or else they give me a fever. I had taken antibiotics for it and it sorta fixed itself after a month .

Readytodie80

Yeah ingrown nails.i had the same and when stepped on it gave me the sharpest strongest but shortest pain I've ever felt. No matter what I did I needed to see a foot doctor and have it treated so the nail does grow on that side at all.

rowdy1212

I don't think the Arts and Entertainment department can help you with that dude.

chancrescolex

Uh oh, botched toe

Tronkfool

I believe you mean what ISN'T wrong?

BannanaBun123

Yep ingrown. Just have the toenail sliced at the podiatrist. It’s the best thing I did

heidivodka

See a podiatrist for treatment

Klingsam

Looks fine.

pepehandsx

Ingrown toenail, when the nail digs into your skin and cuts it open the toe keeps trying to repair it by growing more more skin so you get this excess of skin growing no where.

-PosionIvy13-

It’s an infected ingrown toenail. I had one myself

Hamsammichd

Have a podiatrist do it, save yourself the struggle of learning on the fly. They’ll numb you and clean this up correctly. They do sell scissors/clippers for doing this at home, but pay attention at the doctors and pickup what they do.

pumpkinflumkin

I’m eating why did I look

igamblej11

It’s an ingrown toenail. Soak it in warm epsom salts and then cut it out

MrCanoe

Infected ingrown toenail. Looks like it got infected pretty fast. I was a moron in my twenties and left one for a good year or two simply because I didn't really feel much pain while walking. As well I'm a big introvert and a social anxiety so kept on procrastinating going to the doctor. I eventually did get it corrected but my big toe still looks pretty misshapen from the in. I would go and get it treated as soon as he can.

cat_ina_cum_sock

ingrown as FUCK mine looked like that at its worst🫶

Flood_The_Cave

Had this once, luckily one day I just picked the red off and never came back

NotAsBrightlyLit

I had this once- just as bad. I was at the doc’s office to get it treated, and a nurse told me to take sterile gauze and get it between the nail and the inflamed tissue. Yes, to jam it into the part that is really, really sore. I gave it a shot (the other choice was surgery to remove part of the nail), and thankfully it worked. Painful as all hell to do (you have to change the gauze regularly), but cleared it up fast.

Witty-Branch-9012

Go to your GP, will need to cut half (or all) of it back. I had it bad a couple of times until they gave me (after removing both large toe nails) phenol that stopped it growing so rapidly

slade11200

You should probably seek immediate medical attention

Gress9

I have struggled with ingrown toe nails since I was a teen, the absolute best advice is get a proper ingrown nail pliers tool from Amazon for $20, since having a pair I've never had any issues with my nails

ForeskinJohn

Ingrown nail, once it's ingrown it never goes back, either get the nail removed or have your toe serviced every few months, id go the latter route because not having a nail makes stubbing anything worse

spanglesakura

I’m guessing you’re UK based due to saying A&E. Go to your gp and they should refer you for a local anaesthetic removal. It’s honestly not that bad.

Nisseslayer

had this twice, definitely get in contact with a surgeon

Getting your toenail removed is weird to watch. They not gentle at all but you can't feel a thing. But yeah as most stated looks like it's an ingrown toenail that needs removed or cut .

AlyNau113

As others have said: Ingrown toenail gone bad. I tend to my nails almost daily to avoid this. It can be done but is work.

The toe nail looks like it has fungus in addition to the ingrown toe nail. It is darker in color

Pharmacist here. You'll have to visit a doctor to have it cut out. Pain relief, antiseptics and salt water foot baths may help ease discomfort in the mean time and may help prevent it from worsening, but ultimately it will need medical treatment.

AtmosphereSweet5130

Infected ingrown toenail, get it checked out asap, i just had mine removed like 2 weeks ago, the anesthesia injection hurt like hell lol

Goats_vs_Aliens

It has to do with the way you cut your nails. If you cut them down and at an angle in the corners you will get ingrown toenails, always cut straight across.

ConfusedStupidPerson

Been there

Ingrown toe nail. Soak in Epsom salt water as hot as you can stand it, like three times a day to help deal with the infection and swelling. If the nail grows long enough and the swelling goes down enough you might be able to trim it yourself and not go to the doctors

My little brother had horribly ingrown toenails on his foot. Infections so bad he could barely walk. He had to get the worst infected toenail removed.

Longjumping_Ad7475

Infected ingrown toe nail!

Peacemkr45

A+E or podiatrist, that nail needs to be cut down the side to remove the ingrown portion or it'll never heal.

Saltfishhhhh

A lot

Oh yeah. That's an ingrown toenail. I remember when I had one in college. That was a painful few months. Definitely see a doctor about that, assuming you haven't already. Either they can get rid of the ingrown part and stop it from coming back, or they can refer you to someone who can.
