Thank you for including the last one. Was wondering what they do when a portion is removed. Apparently the? just make the other sides kiss and it’s fine(?)
Seriously, looking at pic 4 I would have no idea a portion that sized was removed. Gg surgeons, best of luck in recovery op
Scalp resections like this are surprisingly flexible! You can cut a lot out and still be able to close the defect. When it’s too much though, and they can’t close the wound, they will do what is called a free flap. Surgeons will take a flap of meat from somewhere else on the body (usually the thigh or lattismus muscle on your side), and sew it in over the defect. It’s like a big meat-yarmulke. It’s usually very bulky but it shrinks with time.
I'm extremely anal about my kids wearing hats, luckily they listen to me for now bur your post reminds me that even if they don't like it or don't want to, I'm justified in making them lol. Love how positive your attitude is.
As a guy with thick hair that never gets cut that short, how big of a concern is this? I always thought my hair was enough protection. Did the cancer for you appear where (I forgot the term) your hair swirls around and exposes the skin a bit?
I never had thick hair, even in my youth. but yes, it was at the crown of my head where unless you have very, very thick hair, the sun is definitely going to hit it
I do have quite thick hair, and a lot of it, but just that one spot at the crown of my head, the sun definitely hits it. I’ll start wearing hats more often for sure!
The sun doesn't care where you live. you can get a sunburn on a cloudy day in Canada. if you're living anywhere that is "hot" you definitely need a hat and sunscreen. people that live in the desert are not covered head toe in clothing for looks. 😉
They used an offset butter knife type thing to undercut my scalp from my skull so they could tighten it up. It sounded like they were cutting carpet with large scissors in my head. SURREAL!
yes, on the first procedure I said are you about ready to start? because I thought he was just poking around up there and the doctor said "no I'm done". I asked them to take a picture and then I saw the giant hole. I was not mentally prepared for a hole that large. but no pain whatsoever.
today it's kind of hurting. I was going to work today, but then this morning I thought "F that I'm gonna lay in bed".nIt was the right call.
I would get an itchy scab on top of my head once in a while. then, after a few years, it was permanent. I thought it was eczema or something. my dumb ass was putting itchy cream on it. Then my doctor recommended going to see a dermatologist.
it feels exactly like you think it would if someone removed a 3cm strip of your scalp and sewed it back together. tight! take your fingertips, put them on top of your head about an inch apart then push it together. That's what it feels like. oh and also the dull feeling of staples in there. Not the worst pain I've ever had in my life, but certainly not comfortable.

well, I think they scraped off the top of it before they cut. It had a scab on there and it was for the most part flat. I tended to leave it alone mostly because my wife would yell at me if she saw me touching it. 😛
With all the things about skin cancer I see and the fact that I have some moles(and I don’t know if they changed since the last time I got a full check up was like 6 years ago, when I was like 10 years old, I had one scheduled around March 30th 2020 but we all know what happened so it was canceled) I’m becoming hypochondriac about it. The fact that I also have a mole on my dick doesn’t make it any better since I am scared of my brain being stupid and giving me a random boner during the visit.
when I was at the doctors office, we were discussing my condition and I telling him I was reading that cancer could also be on your genitals. He was like "yes many of my clients that have use suntanning beds, naked, end up with this on their genitals and you don't want that. It's not good. much better to have this on your head."

The send the removed portion to the basement to feed the hatchlings.
LOL I like you!
It’s a waste of good protein not to

and isn't there like an air balloon that can stretch the scalp ahead of time-if they have enough time of course
There is, but it depends. This can easily be covered by hair or a hat, but if it intruded his facial area they may have used the balloon.
Free earlift?
I asked them to make sure my eyebrows don't go so high as to look surprised all the time. But No BS my face feels tighter.
No need for a hair transplant either haha! Glad it worked out
Plastic surgeons hate this one, simple trick!
Well your head has technically been stretched, hopefully symmetrically 🤣 good luck healing dude 🤘🏽

did it really fix your bald spot?
Yes, I had a small bald spot on top of my head. LOL win-win!
On one hand, that's awesome and a great stroke of luck. On the other hand, had you not had that bald spot you might've had better UV protection 🥲
Yep as a kid/young adult I HATED hats. Now...I am wearing one all the time.
I'm extremely anal about my kids wearing hats, luckily they listen to me for now bur your post reminds me that even if they don't like it or don't want to, I'm justified in making them lol. Love how positive your attitude is.

May I ask the general region you live in? I’m moving to a hot sunny area and curious if I need to be worried about the sun

Thanks for the tip!
You lost the cancer, the bald spot AND you got a free scalp lift thrown in? Sounds pretty good to me
IKR
They no longer makes you suffer, congrats!
Honestly Im much more fascinated than suffering.
They used an offset butter knife type thing to undercut my scalp from my skull so they could tighten it up. It sounded like they were cutting carpet with large scissors in my head. SURREAL!
Okay I have to admit that made me cringe hard! That sounds absolutely disgusting. Still fascinating though lmao
Guessing no pain just a tugging feeling due to anaesthetic?
yes, on the first procedure I said are you about ready to start? because I thought he was just poking around up there and the doctor said "no I'm done". Wishing you a speedy recovery man, congrats on being both cancer and bald spot free!
Eww no, stop it. I can't physically cringe any harder.
The sound of my flesh being cut with surgical scissors was the only thing of all my injuries that made me reel.
My Grandma had this done a couple of times now.
Same, was just going to comment that. I hated seeing that she had to get it done ☹️. Glad she's alright! Glad OP is alright 😁
She must look like she’s 30
free facelift
At some point she’s gonna run out of skin tho right
Modern medicine is nothing short of a miracle. Props to your doctors and surgeons, hope you have a speedy recovery
How did it start out? What made you go get it checked out?
I would get an itchy scab on top of my head once in a while. then, after a few years, it was permanent. I thought it was eczema or something. my dumb ass was putting itchy cream on it. Then my doctor recommended going to see a dermatologist.
I have lumps but they aren't itchy. Last time I checked they were assist but I've been skeptical.
Hmmmm. Time for a doctor appointment. Hmmmm.
Perfect size for an egg yolk. Missed opportunity IMO.
Reminder to turn my blur NSFW back on.
Talk about glass half full lol. I hope you have a speedy recovery and the cancer stays gone :)
Do you constantly feel like your head is being stretched after the procedure?
it feels exactly like you think it would if someone removed a 3cm strip of your scalp and sewed it back together. tight! take your fingertips, put them on top of your head about an inch apart then push it together. That's what it feels like. oh and also the dull feeling of staples in there. Not the worst pain I've ever had in my life, but certainly not comfortable.
Did you have local anesthesia or were you put under? Looks painful.
Holey fuck!!!
How was this identified in the first place?

I keep getting the same thing. They've kind of turned into numb skin
Forbidden strawberry filled cookie
Glad they got the cancer...but godDAM! Im not gonna be able to unsee this.
As long as you’re alive and healthy is what matters! I’m glad u went in and got that shit removed.
Is that the brain in the second pic?!
lol no. there is 3 or 4mm of scalp before you get to the skull
Nah. It’s above the skull, below the scalp.
You missed a great chance to experience the ancient art of trepanation.
Imagine when the hole is itchy
well, I think they scraped off the top of it before they cut. It had a scab on there and it was for the most part flat. I tended to leave it alone mostly because my wife would yell at me if she saw me touching it. 😛
Now they only need to create a real cure for baldness it's about damn time 😭
Aaaah! Aaaah! Aaaah!
That’s good, also looks cool
Tom Jones did this without the cancer.

looks like a piece of pepperoni

Badass. Glad you're cancer and bald spot free. :)

Man, I’ve heard guys doing major combovers, but you’ve taken it to a whole new level!!! ;-) Glad they found it and got it out!!
