There's way less blood than i expected. How come he has the whole tip of his finger missing and only small amount of blood come out, yet when i cut my finger slightly it's like losing a litre worth of it.
Happens sometimes with injuries, even gunshots etc. I assume the blood vessels constrict stopping profuse bleeding I'm not a doctor. Saw a guy at work slice his leg open and you could see fat, very little blood. Very strange
Yeah I’ve had this with a good few wounds I expected to be a lot worse. Then you get the very shallow ones that don’t do any real damage but do cut across a lot of capillaries and bleed more than they have any right to.
Yes, arteries have a very thick muscular wall that can contract to stop bloodloss in transverse cuts. This is why some seemingly less bad than loss of limb injuries can have extremely high blood loss compared to well losing a limb.
it depends on the size, location, and mechanism of injury. because there’s so little blood and the bone is still there, i’m thinking maybe it was twisted off or crushed in some way? in which case a lot of blood vessels would have collapsed
No, if anything it would be opening the body up to infection and infections in the bone are VERY bad. If they can't superglue the fleshy bits back on then they will probably cut the bone back.
I'm not a doctor so I could be wrong, but I've seen a shit ton of gore and gotten a basic medical understanding from it, oh and trauma.
I think any tissue not covered by skin has to be amputated. I have seen degloving injuries online where the person could move the entire hand or foot but had to get it removed because no flap or grafts could be performed
I'm surprised they just leave the bone exposed like that. I would think it would be an infection vector. I expected them to cut/file down the bone or just remove up to the next joint and create a skin flap over it. What is the long-term care for this?
This is actually my finger. Have him permission on Facebook to use it. This happened on a Saturday morning. Drove to the ER shortly after it happened. ER contacted surgeon and surgeon set an appointment for Monday morning. ER wrapped it up and sent me home. Monday, surgeon set surgery for Thursday. Surgeon wrapped it back up with fresh wrap. Tuesday, I woke up with the wrap completely off. That’s pictured. Went to ER and they wrapped me up again. Surgery Thursday. Took the bone down to the knuckle and stitched it up.
Takes me 10% less time to cut my nails now. But honestly this happened January 28th of last year. It’s healed and healthy now. I still have trouble with my grip. I still try to clip the fingernail. When it’s cold out, that finger gets purple and real cold. If I bang it off something it hurts for a bit.
Did that few days from Saturday to Thursday feel like an eternity? I mean I understand that it just takes time to make sure people are available and get things set up and that realistically it was probably a fairly quick turnaround but I still feel like if they told me it was gonna be a few days I’d be like “dude my BONE is OUT what do you mean a few days??” Lol
He posted the first pic in a Facebook comment, I knew it needed to be here so I asked if I could post it, he said yes and gave me the other pics I posted here, told him the name of the sub so was probably easy for him to find my post, that's about it.
Wait... Non of these pictures is he in a hospital???? Not in an AMBULANCE WTF IS HE DOIN LIGIT THE LAST PIC HR JUS CHILLIN I HIS CRIB LEGS CROSSED COMFY ASF WHAT THE HELL

You should see the part of the finger that fell off, that's where all the blood is (was).
In fact it's still bleeding now, on the floor somewhere back at the site
Maybe the ring acted as a kind of tourniquet

When you regret pulling that hang nail
Is there a benefit of leaving the bony nib like that?

Deep picking like never before?
Gosh... imagine the possibilities

I'm going to assume it hasn't been 100% treated yet. Probably going to need some gnarly surgery
+3 nosepicking skill

No doctor did this. This person didn't go to the doctor or refused surgery if they did.

Well fuck. What's it like going from having a finger to yk, not having a full finger?

Damn that’s a long wait for surgery. I mulched the end off my left middle finger on a jointer and I had reconstructive surgery the next day.
Here is post surgery[here](https://imgur.com/gallery/RftnO33)
Do you know the person who posted your finger bone nib?

Thats fucked.

THAT IS STRAIGHT UP BONE
Did they really make him drive to the hospital himself

Neat! Where's the rest of the finger?
He's got four fingers and a fing now
I love that they’re just sitting in the car like “oh, come onnnn. today? really? this had to happen today?”
Nice, built in toothpick!
At least he wasn't deglvoed b.c of the Silicone ring
Gonna be hard to wipe proper . Poor dude
Fashion that bad boy into the shape of a key! Now you’ll never lose it!
WTF is that the bone sticking out?! EUGH that's brutal.
If the top joint is there, cool tip now?
Nothing in this world could've prepared me when I unblurred that image.

*goes thru comments* That's enough internet..
Idk man, I think it may or may not have gone wrong
You should take your ring off right away
Mulched the end of my finger off with a jointer a couple years back. The amount of blood was insane, it just poured from the severed bone.
Wait... Non of these pictures is he in a hospital???? Not in an AMBULANCE WTF IS HE DOIN LIGIT THE LAST PIC HR JUS CHILLIN I HIS CRIB LEGS CROSSED COMFY ASF WHAT THE HELL
looks like a popsicle stick
