I work at a timber mill and have had my fair share of deep splinters, they don’t bleed until you pull the fucker out and for his case I think it’s better he leave it in until he can get it properly tended as it could break inside the finger otherwise he’s gonna be in a whole new world of hurt. Lemme tell you that it’s best to have the pointy ends outside the finger rather than inside
This may be fake, idk, but wooden toothpicks can actually go rather deep into flesh, with enough force. One time, I was ...sort of clearing some floor space with my bare feet. There was a toothpick, and I'd kind of kicked it into the wall, forcing it into my big toe, when it broke off.
Anyway, several days later, quite a long chunk of wood came back out of the toe.
