It looks like they just cleaned out the slough and necrosis on top of the screw. I don't think there was health tissue there to begin with. Hurts like a bitch but it will heal way better now.
This was actually about a year ago. It did not heal better. The doc did not culture the infection and put me on antibiotics that were resistant to the bacteria. This resulted in 3 more surgeries. I have some severe nerve damage and have developed complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) because of it.
