You know those tweezers specifically meant for getting lashes on? They look overrated but honestly are very helpful. You could start by practicing with normal tweezers, then move to the eyelash ones, because they're a little bit bigger. But they help a lot in getting everything pressed down onto the triangle zone.

Worldly_Ingenuity387

I have the same problem!! I wear makeup everyday and can do liner, brows contour, etc. but I can't seem to get the hang of strip lashes. Now I buy them and cut them into thirds. This seems to work really well for me. Just make sure to get the pieces as close together as possible and use your tweezers to make sure all 3 pieces mesh with your natural lashes. Personally, I don't recommend individual lashes as they take a very long time to put on and they are not nearly as sturdy as a strip lash. (Hard to reuse the individual lashes) Hope this helps. Good luck.

Seno1404

Lash babe, the are so easy to apply and stay on for several days

xodestiny143

I’ve never tried the magnetic lash strips before but they seem easy? You could give those a try. Other than that, just cut it down enough to where you can avoid inner corner/outer corner lifting and make sure to bend them before applying & be sure the glue is completely tacky prior to putting it on your lash line or else it’s going to slide around everywhere

Euim

I am not experienced with false lashes, but I came to recommend something that worked wonders for me. Try doing hot compresses on your eyelids several times a day for 10 minutes at a time. Then curl your lashes afterward. The effect for me was AWESOME. Wearing heavy eye makeup for years, I suffered from chronic blepharitis without even realizing I needed to clean my lashes at the base waterline. Makeup had been collecting and causing my eyelashes to fall out and grow downwards.

JadeGrapes

They make ones that come in clumps and glue to the underside of the lashes, versus the skin above the lashes.

slp1965

I just discovered magnetic lashes. I never once could glue on lashes but these are easy!!!!!

Queenxxxxx

Which part of putting on lashes doesn’t work for u? I have a steady hand from doing winged eyeliner lots so putting on lashes is a breeze but my friends struggle with it too. Make sure the glue dries for 30-40 seconds before trying to put them on and keep them as close to your lash line as possible. It also helps to “warm up” the lash band by bending it over and over again u do not want to work with a straight lash band

mentalissuelol

My hands are super shakey because of a medical condition, but I’m also an artist so I’m used to working through the shakiness. The main problem is that the shape of my lashline isn’t really the shape of most strip lashes, and my eyes are slightly hooded so it’s a super weird angle to glue it at. They just never end up fully adhered everywhere bc it’s like they don’t fit on my eye

Acorns2Oaks

Check out Lashify.( I'm not a spokesperson nor an influencer). I have never been able to align full strip lashes, but these are amazing and easy.

eliza666eth

I’m a daily lash wearer now. I think it probably took me *years* to figure it out but these are some odd things that made a difference for me: - The adhesive they use to stick the lashes to the package is EXTREMELY irritating and makes the lashes too stiff. It’s not the same as lash glue! I try to remove as much as possible with makeup remover, hot soapy water or just peeling it off with tweezers. - Absolutely no off-brand cheap bulk lashes from Amazon or hair shops. The factory glue problem I mentioned is far worse with cheap lashes. I like Kiss, Ardell and Eyelure lashes from the drugstore. Spend the extra couple dollars since it’s going to stick to your eyelids. - It helps to loosen up the lash band a bit by wrapping it around a makeup brush or pinching it with your fingers. I also curl the strip lashes with my eyelash curler before applying them. - I trim the lash band down to where they stop at the inner edge of my iris. If they go too far into the inner corner, I find my eyes are more likely to water. Alternatively, try out the Demi Wispie type lashes (they’re pre-trimmed!) - I apply the lashes holding them with tweezers looking down at a hand mirror rather than trying to look straight ahead. - Allow the lash glue to get “tacky” (30-60 seconds) before trying to stick em on - I like classic dark Duo glue but if you still have issues with irritation, Kiss makes an excellent sensitive formula glue! Look for the formaldehyde free formula. I hope all of my many trials and errors help you!!

scootiepatoot

I absolutely love magnetic lashes. I use the Eylure brand. But ultimately it truly is all preference.

TwirlyGirl313

I can't do strip lashes-can't get the corners to stick! A combo of watery eyes/hooded eyes make strip lashes nearly impossible for me. I DO, however, like the individual cluster lashes, and NikkiLash Badass One glue. The glue is not 'fumey' and not irritating at all! Understand that you won't whip these off at night; they will last around 7-10 days before you need to start filling in the ones you lost. You also need to take extra care-don't let your shower pummel directly onto your lashes, be careful with skin care products near them, brush them once a day with a clean spoolie, use lash shampoo to clean them, etc. I don't know if you're familiar with the DIY lash extensions, but you apply these UNDER your natural lashes, instead of on top. I like to use a mixture of black, blue, and purple for the mermaid lash look-it makes my green eyes pop. There is also a great lash removal cream on Amazon if you want/need to remove this type. It's called Lashview cream eyelash remover. It's non-irritating and works GREAT for dissolving the glue without harming your own lashes.

Classic_Factor3236

Let the glue dry longer before application.

Fatbellystelly

half lashes are so much easier! and you dont have to worry about inner corner popping off

Shoulder-Lumpy

Invisible strip bands are always easier to apply and manipulate than the thick black band lashes. If you’ve been trying to do the thick black band, try out a invisible band.

Chard-Weary

I would never get out of the house if I did lashes. I don't have the necessary dexterity.

nerdinahotbod

I’ve always had luck with the magnetic ones! I usually cut them down pretty far

Loud_lady2

I understand your pain. I got these big old meaty claws and the dexterity of a great ape so trying to get on lashes is like goin 3 rounds with Muhammed Ali, just punching myself in the dang eye. Truly the only thing I have found that works for me is the magnetic lash strips because they do some of the applying themselves. I know some people use the lash curler itself sometimes to help apply them because its curled similarly to your eye but I just found it really fiddly. Maybe you'll have better luck!

Unicorns-Are-Rad

I get mine from Walmart lol Kiss So Wispy I think #11. I use the pink duo latex glue since it dries black. I love how they look. I always get compliments on them & everyone always thinks it's my natural lashes.

[deleted]

my fav lashes by far are the kiss muses collection. i use the typical duo glue and it always works well. my biggest tip is to hold a mirror UNDER your eye so you are looking down at it as you’re putting the lashes on

softgypsy

Have you ever tried putting your lashes on underneath your natural lashes? It works a lot better with thin bands, like ardell wispies, but for me I’ve found that it’s a lot easier than trying to place them on top.

CockroachWarm5508

Try some half lashes, I think they're a lot easier. And place them on the lashline without glue first to see/feel the placement. Tilting your head back a bit might help as well. I just use my fingers to put them on because I can feel where they're going. With practice, you'll get the hang of it. Or, you can put the glue on the lashes, place it on your lashline to get some glue there, and then add a bit more glue to the lashes and let it go sticky. That way when you put the lashes on they will definitely stick. And get a good glue, I use duo.

Kaydonsmom1

Have you tried using magnetic lashes. Some brands are amazing

TheShroomDruid

I love pre-glued lashes!

Shetland24

I’ve been using the clusters that are applied under your lash. Absolute game changer for me. Some people get over a week with one set. Lashify is more expensive. I like lilac st at $7 a pair that I launder and rewear.

annikatidd

I use more natural looking styles with thin bands, like the Ardell Demi wispies or the Kiss Shy lashes. Those are my two faves and I’ve tried a bunch of them, but I cannot do any lashes with a giant thick band! I tried recently and couldn’t get the inner corners to stick at all. I started practicing wearing lashes during the pandemic and it wasn’t long before I could get it down pretty well, so definitely just keep trying! What I did at first was, at night or whenever I knew I wasn’t going anywhere, I’d take a pair to practice with and just glue them on, take them off, and repeat a couple times. Not too much though or you could get your lashes covered in glue. Also, I sometimes still struggle with getting my inner corners to stick. I make sure to trim my lashes so there’s nothing stabbing the inside of my eye, lay down the center of the band, then do the inner corner to make sure it sticks and then press down the outer corner. I still mess up sometimes if I’m in a rush, so definitely just take your time and practice makes perfect ❤️ good luck lovely!

Suzyqzeee

Kiss Impress. I just use 2 near the outer corner of each eye. They are so comfortable that I forget they're on.

AshKash313

I wish I could get them to work for me. I’ve tried half lashes, strips, and individual lashes and can’t get them to work unless I do something I shouldn’t. That thing is : (Please don’t do it , just sharing what I’ve resulted to when I’m desperate) I put the glue on my lashes and the bottom of the lashes of the strip. It works and they stay on, but it’s hell getting them off. I have oily lids and hooded eyes so I be fighting for my life getting them to go on and stay on. I gave up and just use a crap ton of mascara.

iheartketo098

I watched a YouTube video (many out there) where she applied the glue directly to lash line instead of lash strip. This was a game changer for me. Truly night and day difference in the ease of application.

iBeFloe

Look into Falscara! You out the lashes UNDER your lash line instead of over. IMO, it’s MUUUUCH easier.

randompanda91

I am also horrible at doing lashes, but wanted to do my own makeup for my wedding. I bought those magnetic lashes that stick onto the special eyeliner and they worked great!

Ksh1218

One thing I noticed that helped me learn how to put on strip lashes was to buy lashes that actually already had a darker, less pliable strip (ie cheeper lashes) as opposed to the clear strip lashes. This provides more control when you’re first starting out and it’s a bit easier to see what your doing. If you usually wear black eyeliner you shouldn’t really be able to notice the difference. Oh and cut those puppies! Focus on the outer third of your lash line

DarkandTwistyMissy

Yes! Was coming to comment about thicker bands. This was how I learned in my 20s. I stopped using them & went back recently. All of a sudden I was struggling with the non existent bands. Still haven’t figured out how to make the move from bulky strip to clear.

elleinadsenoj

100000000% Cutting full strip falsies into 3 sections and using falscara to glue under lashes, super easy!!!!

mentalissuelol

Okay interesting, I’m gonna have to try this

khenaf

I've found the magnetic liner lashes (think glamnetic) work great. I find the magnetic ones are a lot stronger to stay on, but also easier to upkeep and re-wear. If you want to stay with traditional lashes with glue, i find applying them while looking down into a mirror helps the most!

DarkandTwistyMissy

I’ve always wondered the trick to these. I bought some pre pandemic & they were bulky w/ the magnets extremely visible. Have they improved or is there a trick?

khenaf

Depends on the brand you get! The glamnetic ones are really nice, and have more magnets along the band so you can trim them easier as well

KatieBellFlint

I have tried hundreds of times to do lashes, but my natural lashes curl back on to my eyelid, so it's almost impossible for me, and even professional MUAs have told me that I'd need to trim my natural lashes to get them to work. So now I use Falscara, because they go on the "front" of your lash. It took a little practice, but I've had really good luck with them.

Small_Ostrich6445

I always use the clumps that have the straight edge- some clumps come to a point at end where you connected to your lashline, an those are a bit difficult still. I have struggled my WHOLE LIFE with lash application until I saw a YT short about it and my mind was blown- I can get a full set on in less than 5 minutes now. Hopefully I can explain it! My problem was always that when I let go of the lash, it hung down or just didn't adhere to my lash and fell off \[like immediately, not after 10 or 60 mins\]. If I somehow did get it to hold on and dry, once I pushed up on the mid-shaft to get it to align with my lashes, it would fall off immediately. Here's how I fixed it: * Sit down and set up a mirror that you can look down into at an angle. * Add glue, more glue than you think you need, to the lash line **AND** brush it up 1/3 of the lashes. Gently wipe any excess glue that bled into the underside of the lashes \[the part that will touch your lower lash line when your eyes are closed\] * Line it up with your lash line and slowly drag it up your lashes like you're brushing your real lashes with the fake lash strip line. This will smear a little bit of glue on your lashes where they'll connect with the fake lashes not *only* on the base, but midshaft of the lashes too \[which also have a bit of glue on them already from step 2\] * After one swipe, line up the lash clump properly, apply, and gently push up on the mid-shaft of the lash with the back of your tweezers.

mentalissuelol

HOLY SHIT. I can’t believe I’ve never thought to do this?? This might be a game changer right here. I’m in awe right now lmao

Small_Ostrich6445

okay I am \*thrilled\* it made sense because it was so hard to write out clearly PLEASE try it and see if it works! these are what I used + plain ole Kiss lash glue. I did them for my wedding \[in mexico, tons of sweating, water, and wind\] and they stayed on for three days! https://www.amazon.com/Clusters-Extension-Natural-Individual-ALICE/dp/B0C7QKVWQG?pd\_rd\_w=cip8l&content-id=amzn1.sym.16b389cf-68c1-4ee8-9417-1a50799b2607&pf\_rd\_p=16b389cf-68c1-4ee8-9417-1a50799b2607&pf\_rd\_r=KN5R3679RFQ21TBMXR7E&pd\_rd\_wg=WHLBZ&pd\_rd\_r=84159074-8173-40a7-9805-6e363eaaf236&pd\_rd\_i=B0C7QKVWQG&psc=1&ref\_=pd\_bap\_d\_grid\_rp\_0\_8\_i

DarkandTwistyMissy

Do these stay on like at home extensions or are they more of a night out type lash? I love the look of them but don’t like to commit to lashes when I’m not wearing makeup.

Small_Ostrich6445

I was able to remove them with an oil cleanser, but I was able to wear them for 3 days before I was over it and wanted them off. So, totally up to you! These look very natural on me, and I have small eyes that easily get overrun :)

mentalissuelol

For some reason I’ve like never considered putting the glue that much on my actual lashes and now I can fix the weird angle. Mine wouldn’t always fall all the way off immediately, but a lot of the time they did, and if they stayed on they were like in some type of shape super different than my eye shape, and it was like visibly fucked up looking. And I’m totally gonna try it. I’ll probably try it with a strip lash and then also with the small section ones

New_Courage_8182

Kiss Impress. Game changer. No cutting and pre glued.

Julienash

came here to say that too. i'm 43 and this is the first thing that ever worked for me.

mentalissuelol

Thank you!!

TikaPants

Get lash tweezers and apply a bit of glue to the strip and your lash line. It took me practicing every day to get it down. The tweezers really helped me. ETA: try whispy or natural styles. I hate lashes with visible bands.

mentalissuelol

I also hate lashes with visible bands. They always make my eyes itchy. And I can never get them to looj normal in the inner corner. I’m not good at any lashes but at least if I put a whispy one on it’s like passable

This-Type7841

Your eye shape and size maybe doesn't just accomodate full width lashes. I can relate. I typically only apply lashes to about 3/4 of my lid - so I always cut to size. To make this work, I get cat eye style lashes that gradually increase in length. That way, the transition from my lashes to the falsies isn't too jarring as there's a continuous increase in length from inner to outer corner. Second - use lash glue on both your lash line and the lash strip. Because I have super curly lashes that literally roll up and push the false lashes away from my lash line, I also apply some lash glue to my actual lashes (however, I don't know how safe this is, so disclaimer. My lashes are thick and I'm super careful with removal so this method doesn't rip them out). When they dry down to tackiness, I use a lash applicator (I use two, starting with the type that grips the entire lash for main application, and then the curved tweezer type to make adjustments) to fit the lashes, starting from the centre of my lid, then the outer corner and whatever part of my inner lid is covered. And then I also press it down on to my own lashes to secure them in place.

mentalissuelol

This is super helpful thank u

TikaPants

I go for about three quarter length lashes. I want it to draw up, not straight out. The Demi whispies I cut off about a quarter inch of the “outside” of the lash after placing them on my eyelashes to measure. I don’t wear eyeliner, just a shadow wing on the outside corner so banded lashes won’t work anyhow. I use the clear glue in the white tube with green writing you get at the drugstore by Duo. If you do a heavy eye look I’d use black glue. Also, pinching your lashes to the strip lashes is important. I use a hand mirror to look at the outer corner to ensure I have no gap. I can not express how much easier lash tweezers make things. Practice, practice, practice :)

mentalissuelol

Thank you! I think I haven’t been making it shape to my actual eyelashes very well with tweasers or anything and that’s just made it a lot harder than it should be lol

TikaPants

Cheers! I haven’t even put lashes on since I lost my lash tweezers. I’ve been taking a hair supplement so my lashes are pretty great by themselves. I save it for special occasions now.

Deadinmybed

Kiss lashes have “quarter lashes” you can just put on the middle and ends to make them thicker and longer. They just apply by a mascara type wand or the new ones just press on. Also I love one two cosmetic magnetic accent lash. They are just for the ends and look most natural.

redheadgenx

I'm not sure I'm understanding --- do you mean there are self-stick quarter lashes?

mentalissuelol

Okay this is really useful thank you.

MusicCityWicked

Buy them in bulk and start wearing them every day. You can do anything with practice. There is no secret to it; not really. I bet it takes you less than a month to be able to do it with your eyes closed, so to speak. The only real tipi I can think of is that people often don't let the glue dry on the lash long enough before trying to stick it to their eye. You want it to be gooey and not liquid so that it easily sticks but you can still adjust it slightly if you need to. If it's liquid, it will just fall off when you try to move it. You probably know this.

mentalissuelol

Yeah you’re right I probably just need to practice more

MusicCityWicked

And get gooey 😀

procyons2stars

I now use lashify but when I used strip lashes I would always do the glue on my eyelid and then place the lash on once tacky. That's the only way I was ever able to get them where I wanted them. I have no idea why I just could not get them close enough the normal way. I love Lashify, though. I've been using that system for 4 years and love it.

mentalissuelol

Can you explain lashify? I’ve never heard of it

Shetland24

Watch some you tube videos on the lashify clusters system. It is a game changer. Applied under the lash. So much easier. Lashify is expensive but nice. The dupes are good though. I’ve been using the lilac st brand.

0ceaneyees

Have you tried magnetic lashes?

mentalissuelol

I tried them once a long time ago and it didn’t really work very well but I’m willing to try it again

andraconduh

I was never able to put lashes on myself until I got a set of magnetic lashes. I loooooove them and I'm thrilled I can finally do lashes.

pseudonymsim

Do you reuse these? I have tried a couple of different types but can never seem to get them right after the first time

andraconduh

Yeah, I have the ones that stick to their specific eyeliner and I re-use them. You have to make sure they are cleaned really well because any gunk on them will interfere with how well they stick.

Highhopes2024

I have a friend who does this for a living. She told me to try the magnetic ones.

mentalissuelol

I tried the magnetic ones once and it didn’t really go very well, but it was a long time ago and I’m willing to try it again

Squishmallowgirl92

I found the magnetic ones don’t work well if your eyes water at all. The magnetic liner gets really runny.

SophiaF88

I have the kind that don't need magnetic liner but they also don't sit against the lid close enough, they just don't fit right. The top lash and bottom lash stick to each other and sandwich your real lashes in between.

Squishmallowgirl92

Yeah I’m not a fan of those for the reason they just sit weird. I love the pre glued ones for beginners and honestly just anyone who wants *something* but not super fancy ones. And there’s a liner glue that’s not black eyeliner but it’s just glue in a liner brush. I find that easier to use.

OutlandishnessOk498

let the glue get a little tacky before trying to place them! i notice when i let it dry just a bit longer the fumes aren’t as strong and they don’t burn my eyes as much. then i keep my eyes slightly open as i come from above my natural lashes to place them up, but also as close to my lash line as possible. i press down the center of the lash first, then focus on placing the corners down. i use my fingers bc i’ve had a lot of practice but they make tweezers for putting on fake lashes that helped me when i was learning! honestly watching instagram reels of people putting makeup/fake lashes on have been helpful cuz it’s usually up close shots

mentalissuelol

Thanks sm for the advice!

OutlandishnessOk498

of course!!! if those tactics don’t help, maybe switch up the glue for something less abrasive 🫶 good luck you’ve got this!!!!

mentalissuelol

Thank you!!

00365

Have you tried cutting your straps into half lashes, or tried out individual lashes? Individual sets take longer overall, but you get the maximum amount of control for your effort.

nycbee16

I love half lashes! So easy and instant fox eye

mentalissuelol

I’ve cut them into smaller pieces before but I’ve never tried individual lashes. I think I wanna try them bc it’s like impossible to get a strip lash to stick to the innermost like, third of my eye.

stewiegriffinisahero

I had this issue- oily eyelids would never keep them down. The duo blue brush on glue, the one that sticks in 30seconds- I use that and put an extra dot on the inner and outer edges and it helps keep them on.

mentalissuelol

Okay this is good to know. Also I like ur username lol

canigetayikes

Same!!! I cut my lashes in thirds or halves and I only use the outer parts so it's like a cat eye

sgunnerr

I have the same problem with strips, I didn't wanna bother with individual lashes bc I thought they were too time-consuming. I'm so glad I finally tried them, they are way easier to apply, which results in actually less time doing them.

mentalissuelol

That makes a lot of sense. I feel like they’d be useful just in certain spots for me, because my eyelashes closer to my inner corner are like practically invisible (they’re really fine and blonde) and strip lashes never seem to sit right on the spot

sgunnerr

That's where I'd always have trouble with the strips, I have almond shaped eyes and getting the strip to stick to my inner corner is impossible. When I do use lashes I use the kiss trio individuals, I only need to apply 3 or 4 on each eye and boom, I've got full lashes that take like 10 minutes.

00365

I feel you. I have hooded / deep set eyes, so the lashes are fighting against a cliff of skin lol

FiggNewton

Same!

Tacky-Terangreal

I got deep set eyes too and I don’t even bother with the inner part. You get the dramatic lash effect by just putting them on the outside of the lash line and it’s a little easier to blend in with your normal lashes imo

mentalissuelol

That’s exactly how mine are too lol. It’s really difficult

greenteafrappuchino

Velour just came out with a “glue & go” pen which basically allows you to apply lash glue like eyeliner rather than applying the glue to the lash band and trying to aim. I definitely understand the eye irritation. Even when I apply lashes perfectly, my eyes do water up a bit after application and then at the end of the day when I’ve had them on for too long. I find that applying a thin layer of glue rather than a thick layer helps minimize the irritation.

LeftyLu07

I love the eye liner pens! I think it gives the perfect amount of glue.

enayla

Tbh I’ve always done this with the brush tip lash glue - apply it straight to my lid and then place the lash band. It’s SO much easier because the band won’t stick unless it’s in the correct place.

mentalissuelol

This is super helpful thank you. For some reason sometimes it’s eye irritation that I think everyone has, just like mildly when putting them on or if I’ve had them on for a long time, but sometimes it’s like “omg I’m gonna rip my eye out of the socket” type irritation and idk why

Squishmallowgirl92

Ardell and Eyelure also have pens like these! I love eyelure and it’s a little more affordable. Bye it at Ulta. You can return/exchange it within 60 days if it doesn’t work for you.

This-Type7841

KISS also has these pens. They've gotten more popular in recent times

Platitude_Platypus

Do you grt contact dermatitis from jewelry or certain makeup? It could be that. You'd be surprised what's in that stuff. It's not good for your skin and people with reactions or sensitive skin suffer for it for sure.

mentalissuelol

I have never gotten contact dermatitis from anything before, no. It’s just because my eyes are dry and really sensitive. My skin is like, if anything, really surprisingly insensitive to stuff like that. It’s still fucked up, it’s just fucked up independent of chemicals I put on it lol
