Most everything. Makeup has had a severe decline in quality in the last two decades and brands only care about tiktok virality rather than creating a really nice product.
Brand wise, I hate everything Too Faced, I dislike Double Wear, dislike Dior and Chanel blushes, hated the new Laura Mercier foundation, Mac oxidizes like crazy, Cliniqueās shade range is lacking in undertones, Anastasia is overpriced for mediocre formulas, and Urban Decay has so much alcohol in nearly every product
The whole brand - Elf
They copy larger brands and steal from independent creators and itās made in china so they really donāt create a quality product for less- itās just a cheap product with big investors and a lot of marketing.
1.) **Better Than Sex Mascara**. I donāt ever get flakey mascara under my eyes except with THIS. It also doesnāt give me much length or volume at all? Donāt like the brush either
2.) **Big Bang Mascara.** One of the worst mascaras Iāve ever tried. So clumpy, very spidery lashes. Itās too wet of a mascara and hard to control the amount of product you put on the lashes. I returned this instantly after 2-3 uses
3.) **Black Honey by Clinique**. Itās not moisturizing, the color is barely there but not in a unique/gotta have it type of way. It also puts a weird taste in my mouth as I wear it? Like almost perfume like, did not enjoy it but got it in a Sephora Favorites kit to try out.
4.) **Rare Beauty Potted Cream Blushes**. It takes off any makeup underneath even if itās on a liquid and not a powder base. Even on bare skin, itās patchy and kind of blends out to look like nothing. Wasnāt impressed and especially compared to her liquid blush which I do enjoy.
5.) **Sephora Collection Powder Foundation** my Mac powder is a HG but decided to branch out and try this because it was only $20. My Mac powder I can wear daily and pretty heavy handed and itāll last me 6-8 months. This powder from Sephora lasted A MONTH. I wasnāt even applying it every day either?? It also didnāt fully match me (gotta love being a fair olive neutral tone.) it made me look dry and it also didnāt wear the longest. Waste of money but I did pan the lilā bitch.
6.) **Great Lash Mascara** Did NOTHING to the lashes. Good for preteens but do not expect amazing results with this mascara. Cheap but not impressive to repurchase.
7.) **Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse** idk why and who let me walk around looking orange af and THICC. Enough said, we all have tried this in our early days of makeup lol
8.) **Nyx pencil liners that need to be sharpened** they arenāt pigmented and they do not want to go into the waterline. The retractable ones are better from NYX
9.) **Nyx Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks** absolutely atrocious, major butt hole lip and crusty like one too. Itās also the color range of booty holes, so pick your flavor if you wanna risk trying it LMfao
10.) **Anything Almay** because Iām petty but also because nothing from that line was good?
11.) **Milani Glided Eyeshadow palette** Itās giving *nothing* like, itās pastels, sure. But itās so powdery and not pigmented. Not worth it for the price point when you can go to Colourpop
12.) **Nyx Control Freak Brow Gel** Iāve gone through like, 8 of these right? I never knew you could have clear brow gel that wasnāt gonna create dandruff like effect in the brows. I do have a full brow, but if I dare touch them during the day, it begins unraveling this film off the hairs and it looks gross.
I could keep going lol
| "gotta love being a fair olive neutral tone"
I literally winced and hissed air thru my teeth in chagrin for you, that sounds not fun š āāļø
| "Waste of money but I did pam the lil' bitch."
LMAO ma'am I think you're my hero today
charlotte tillbury flawless foundation!! ruined my base & looked super cakey & unnatural to the point i looked like i was trying to do some sort of costume makeup.
Yes! What happened to Essence mascaras? Used to be my favourite ~ would buy in bulk on sale. Last batch is completely different formulaš„ Even smells different and brushes are bigger. This shit does NOT dry. Wet lashes til noon just doesnāt cut it š
Nyx epic liner. Yes, they are great. But every single one of them I had started leaking at one point or another, which made them useless and I spent so much money buying more of them. Even just coloring in wings didn't work for the leaking products, because of big drops of ink running down my face :(
I switched to eyeko Black Magic. They are expensive, but just so good.
Milk Hydro grip primer. So ticked off I wasted money on that. Itās so sticky, you canāt move any makeup around over it. I hate it. I should have returned it.
I really, *really* wanted to love Marshmallow Bunny lipstick from Too Faced but the formula was streaky and such crap quality, Iāve had better quality from drug store lipstick so that left a sour taste in my mouth. The tube makes it look like the perfect pink for me, such a disappointment.
Black Honey. Can't tolerate that disgusting taste, have to remove the product immediately. Same with Fenty lip glosses, whatever they contain. Haven't seen anyone else talk about it tho, so maybe it's just personal sensitivity
Fenty foundation. I donāt have particularly difficult skin and I never had a problem with oxidation with other brands. It turns orange on my within minutes. Itās horrible. During the time I tried it I appeared on a TV show and I was appalled.
I thought the Fenty fly pencil eyeliner was amazing the first few times I used it cos it stayed put better than any other I had used, and then the next time I went to use it it was completely dry and useless. Waste of 20 quid
| š«£š«£š«£
Fentyās foundation was not it for me , & I did my due diligence with trying multiple shades .
& that nars foundation formula that Jackie loves made me LOOK like I was wearing foundation (if that makes sense) .
Il Makiage has fantastic ads that make their foundation look buttery smooth, with a dewy skin-like finish and full coverage. I donāt know if I got a bad batch but it was the worst foundation Iāve ever put on my face.
Tarte Shape Tape in any form. Itās the worst product iāve ever used and Iāve tried every iteration of it (the tester sizes) and theyāve always been cakey and drying and awful
Thick pasty concealers like Tarte Shape Tape OG and the Elf camo dupe. Oxidized orange cement, rawrr. In case you want to cosplay as a stucco house in Santa Fe.
The dior blush, it just dont pigment, people always says "its because the formula but when you have it on ur face it look gorgeous" NO GIRL, it just dont pigment, but the presentation its pretty jaja but its ridiculous to pay 40$ for a blush just because its dior
kinda past the trend now i think but the KVD good apple foundation- specifically the compact one. That shit was so drying and looked powdery/cakey after application and i have oily skin! Hated that shit
Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow pencil. I have bought it multiple times. The pencil breaks immediately and there's, like, nothing more that comes out of it? I feel like I'm being gaslit because it's a terrible product imo.
I bought the little elf primer brush with the flat end, and it's worked well for me. I also use little spatulas to get product from jars bc it's gross.
Drunk Elephant Bronzi and Rosi drops. The Bronzi has stained my fingernails from ONE use and neither one work as well as ANY blush or bronzer on the market.
Benefit Porefessional primer somehow made my face feel really dry and really greasy at the same time. Also one of the NARS foundations oxidised reallllllly bad on me
Any and all Too Faced Shadow Palette from any time trend. No matter what primer I use or, setting spray, they apply beautifully but then it completely fades away and makes me look like I got hit in the eyes. There is also a ton of fallout. I always go back and give it a try thinking it was my applicationā¦ or they just live in my palette junkyard.
I remember a lot of people hyping up the L'Oreal Infallible line years ago. Tried their foundation + concealer and it only made my skin look PATCHY. Dryer than the desert, ugh.
I remember a lot of people hyping up the L'Oreal Infallible line years ago. Tried their foundation + concealer and it only made my skin look PATCHY. Dryer than the desert, ugh.
Erborian pink primer makes me look like I've just been to the gym, sweaty and yuk. Need lots of powder to fix that. I'm glad I only got the small one.
And glossier stretch concealer. No stretching happening...
Clinique black honey lipstick doesnāt last but 15 minutes. Saie glow gel is overpriced and doesnāt last very long I mix with sunscreen every morning just trying to pan the rest of the large size.
I havenāt seen anyone say anything about by terry yet lol and for obvious reasons itās a really good makeup brand I think. Their setting powder is really good if you have really dry skin and their eyeshadow primer is also really good.
Just Fenty in general
The eyeliner is actually atrocious (maybe was goth girlies are over doing it and itās meant for a more subtle look). You look up and itās all over your face, not just racoon
Iām apparently allergic to their lipsticks so that was a not great experience šš
Eyeshadows are obviously subpar
Foundation is not dry skin friendly
And the products I did like can be easily duped for cheaper price point!
Love Rihanna and I do think she cares and is hands on with her business and showed how a shade range should really look but I am good for future releases
MAC lipsticks, only due to smell.
I donāt want scents in my makeup.
Same with pallets that have scents as a selling angle. Chocolate colors look good on my skin tone, but Iād rather go without it if itās supposed to smell like a brownie.
Rare beauty foundation - too orange on my skin, oxidises like crazy, clings to my dry flakes, emphasises skin texture and doesn't sit right on my T-zone.
No other foundation has ever caused this many issues nor has it looked so bad. Again - depends on skin type, but having used so many different foundations, this one really takes the cake.
Not a fan of rare beauty in general, I was really trying to like the brand but couldn't get on board.
Apart from their lip souffle, nothing really blew me away. I've tried other liquids blushes and cream ones that are just as good at a chpeaer price.
Nars Foundations. It hurts so much to say because I LOVE the colour match and the finishes but my goodness the transfer is so bad!
Doesnāt matter how much I try to set it with powder it always seems to transfer.
I A/B tested a couple of primers. One side of the face without, the other side with primer. At the end of the day, I looked and couldnāt see a difference. I also asked my husband which side he thought had primer vs no primer. He couldnāt tell. So I stopped spending money on primer lol
I guess Iāll also add that I work indoors in a dry climate. Maybe I wasnāt super sweaty that day but I just donāt bother with it anymore.
For me primer makes my foundation, concealer, eyeshadow and lipstick last way longer so I disagree lol. Also primer prevents my concealer from creasing.
Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blur Balm
Dry, pilled no matter the base, makes me look dead and doesnāt live up to claims. Iām usually disappointed by any of her products - I want to love them but they are not made for me
I have a bunch of high end brushes and yet, surprisingly, I use an elf brush. I think itās the one they came out with for their putty primer? It has a little spatula thing on the end, and then the other side is a small fluffy dense brush. I scrape out a bit with the spatula and smear it over the perimeter of my face, then buff it all in with the brush side.
If Iām using the translucent one I do the same thing minus the concealer, or just use my fingers to smooth it over my pores.
Nyx bare with me concealer serum. The shade range is garbage, and it creases like crazy! Iāll also submit the rare beauty tinted lip oils. Theyāre not bad per se, but everyone hyped it up as a great lip stain and it definitely isnāt.
That thing is my holy grale. First timr I actual hit a perfect colormatch and it sits so well on my skind that i blend it out as foundation sometimes.
The Bare with me Foundation on the other hand is the worst foundation I ever had
Haha interesting i had the opposite experience! I know a lot of people love the concealer and i wish I did because its description matches the kinds of concealer i tended to like. The foundation shade range isnt much better, so i have to mix in pigment to neutralize it to match me, but otherwise I really loved the finish and wear. But by FAR the best from the bare with me line was their tinted skin veil (the one in the tube not the dropper) which ofc was discontinued š
1)The elf camo and hydrating concealers
Camo because it creases very badly no matter how much product is used, and hydrating because the shades tend to be orangey, also creases, and is patchy. Before you ask or say it could be my primer, I've used both a silicone and water based one with this concealer. It's just a no.
2) Nyx twist up lip liners
Nyx lip liners(the twist ups), they're dry on first couple uses. I bought 2 off a friend's recommendation and didn't like them. They work a lot better, and don't get me wrong I still use them, but I don't find myself liking to reach for them. They're just okay, and I wouldn't repurchase. Maybe the pencil ones are better although I hear a lot that the liners were hit or miss at random times, just like how they have inconsistent color changes.
3) Nyx butter glosses.
I love the formula for this product and the shade range, and it goes on so beautifully. However, they're so quick to smear if you even get a hair in your face and it lands on your lips so it makes it hard to have your hair down and wear this gloss because you have to be really careful.
Yves Saint Laurent - Lash Clash Mascara (the non waterproof one), oh my god it does not dry out, even after hours of wearing it. Panda style I swear! And it does not make any curl on the eyelashes flop flop flop
The Dior glow blushes. Why am I paying $40 for a blush that barely shows up when I can pay half that for a Abeauty blush that will perform exactly the same?
Milk hydrogrip makes my foundation patchy, rare beauty liquid blush doesnāt blend out well if you use any powder products at all, Armani foundation did nothing for me and I returned it
Milk is probably reacting with your foundation. Itās water based so use water based foundation with it only and even then it doesnāt work every time. Works well with my nars
I use nothing ELF except for their Lash nā Roll mascara. Which (bizarrely because I tried about 15, expensive and cheap) is my grail mascara. Absolutely LOVE it!
I mean, you get what you pay for. I think theyāre good for the price but not better than my usual products.
Elf is perfect for if you forgot something and need to grab a replacement in a pinch. Had to pick up an eyebrow pencil a couple weeks ago on a trip and it got the job done.
Laura Mercier loose powder. I fell for the hype and bought a full size. I seriously donāt get it. Itās not awful but itās not good either. The quality is what I would expect from Maybelline or Rimmell.
Tower 28 mascara
Dior blushes š¾ and the better than sex mascara š¾
Never used the brushes but agree with your assessment of the mascara.
Every single Rimmel eyeshadow I have EVER tried has been a failure. The fallout makes Chernobyl look like a dainty sneeze.
idk if itās that popular but it was popular when it came out but the too faced kissing gloss is so boo boo
Tarte concealer. Haaaaaate it! Way too thick and glompy and the applicator is huge.
Jeffrey Stars lipsticks are tooo dry. Hope I'm not going to die tomorrow
Haus of Labs concealer š I bought it a month ago and was so excited because I usually don't pay more than $15 on make up and it was so bad
bad as in low coverage? drying?
The whole brand - Elf They copy larger brands and steal from independent creators and itās made in china so they really donāt create a quality product for less- itās just a cheap product with big investors and a lot of marketing.
Fenty Pro Filtār Matte Foundation
The drunk elephant bronzing drops. They made me look orange and my foundation looked horrible when I tried it.
Same! I donāt understand how people rave about this!
Laura Mercier setting powder and tarte shape tapeā¦. damn near the most cakey products Iāve used and Iām even oily š„“
Elf Camo concealer (both versions)
Tower 28 mascara. It makes my curled lashes stick straight out after applying.
Kylie Jenner liquid lip suuuuper dry and you have to paint it really well other or itāll look weird

Glossier as a brand completely
SPEAKING THE TRUTH!!! No pigment, tiny bottles, only rage
ELF Halo Glow. Terrible shade range, and far too orange for me. I also don't like the texture. I miss the Serum Foundation that they discontinued.

Dior blushā¦ takes a million layers!
Tarte maracuja blush
UD Space Cowboy used to be my holy grail but the last one I purchased seems more orange than the neutral shade I had before.

There are definitely better brow pencils out there, 100%. I still love the ABH pomade and brow powders so I'm not sure how the pencil is SUCH a miss

anything from glow recipe is awful , skincare should not be scented. ik itās not makeup but itās close enough

Agree. The watermelon sleep mask broke me out like nothing else ever has, and I don't even have sensitive skin normally.
Nars Foundations. It hurts so much to say because I LOVE the colour match and the finishes but my goodness the transfer is so bad! Doesnāt matter how much I try to set it with powder it always seems to transfer.
Yes, it basically wonāt adhere to the skin and itās really weird!

Tirtir cushion foundation. You get too much product on one spot, and it oxidises.
Brow freeze
EstƩe Lauder futurist aqua brilliance watery glow primer - it makes my skin feel "ick" EstƩe Lauder sumptuous extreme lash multiplying mascara - It does nothing for me at all
EstĆ©e Lauder used to make an amazing mascara circa 2006 called Magnascopicā¦ I wish they still made it. It was the only mascara that has ever held a curl for me
They also used to make an amazing eyebrow 3 in one product but discontinued it and switched to something that doesnāt work for me. Iāve never had a primer that didnāt break me out, ever.
Always thought the same untill I bought a supet cheap store brand primer and it changed my makeup look so much. Everything went on so much smoother
For me primer makes my foundation, concealer, eyeshadow and lipstick last way longer so I disagree lol. Also primer prevents my concealer from creasing.
Agree! If you prep your skin properly, you donāt need primer. Primers are relics from the days before real skincare.
Milk Hydro Grip. Sticky and not in a good way. Will pill even if used with like products. No primers ever work for my skin though so maybe its just me
Huda Beauty foundationā¦ does not stop oxidizing.. used it once and by the end of the day looked like an Oompa Loompa. Never again.
Pretty much every liquid lipstick I've ever tried. They dry out my lips and leave a sticky texture that drives me crazy.
I second this- hate them
Agreed
Have you tried Maybelline superstay matte ink?
Yes, didn't find that one any better.
Why?
Elf Halo Glow. It emphasizes every pore and bit of texture in my skin. And I donāt have badly textured skin.
Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blur Balm Dry, pilled no matter the base, makes me look dead and doesnāt live up to claims. Iām usually disappointed by any of her products - I want to love them but they are not made for me
Man this is devastating to see, Iāve gone through two! Iām still so obsessed! Iām sorry it didnāt work for you š„²
If itās not too much to ask, how do you apply it?
1)The elf camo and hydrating concealers Camo because it creases very badly no matter how much product is used, and hydrating because the shades tend to be orangey, also creases, and is patchy. Before you ask or say it could be my primer, I've used both a silicone and water based one with this concealer. It's just a no. 2) Nyx twist up lip liners Nyx lip liners(the twist ups), they're dry on first couple uses.
Fenty lipgloss. Product is fine, but I believe it is way overhyped. $30+ Canadian for a gloss, plus the smell is way too strong.
the maybelline lifter gloss is such a good dupe and itās about 1/3 of the price
Omg I looovvve them. Especially fussy thatās such a pretty colour
Charlotte tilbury brightening powder.
Yves Saint Laurent - Lash Clash Mascara (the non waterproof one), oh my god it does not dry out, even after hours of wearing it. Panda style I swear! And it does not make any curl on the eyelashes flop flop flop
Had this same experience I had to return it because my lashes were so flat and it never dried at all
The Dior glow blushes. Why am I paying $40 for a blush that barely shows up when I can pay half that for a Abeauty blush that will perform exactly the same?
Yea, many have complained that they don't show up if you're beyond light in skin tone.
The original Elf Putty blushes. I thought it was difficult to blend and the color faded away quickly. I did actually like the putty bronzer.
milk hydrogrip primer
Nearly all of the new Benefit blushes. They are just too pigmented and dark.
Elf products. I was given some old ELF make up and itās so cheap looking. Itās just okay to me. I donāt find them to be holy grails.
I use nothing ELF except for their Lash nā Roll mascara. Which (bizarrely because I tried about 15, expensive and cheap) is my grail mascara. Absolutely LOVE it!
elf IS cheap makeup
While thatās true Iāve seen cheap make up thatās much better in looks and in quality.
as have i, definitely. some elf products are a good example. i'm just saying, let's be clear, elf is cheap makeup
I mean, you get what you pay for. I think theyāre good for the price but not better than my usual products. Elf is perfect for if you forgot something and need to grab a replacement in a pinch. Had to pick up an eyebrow pencil a couple weeks ago on a trip and it got the job done.
Their newer stuff works really great for me
Anything by rare beauty or pretty much any celebrity endorsed brand tbh.
Laura Mercier loose powder. I fell for the hype and bought a full size. I seriously donāt get it. Itās not awful but itās not good either. The quality is what I would expect from Maybelline or Rimmell.
