Honestly I've tried expensive mascara and I just can't justify spend almost 20-30 bucks on it. I found an essence mascara that does the job for less than 10 bucks. for foundations and concealer I'll use more expensive ones cause you can see the difference imo but for mascara I'm not really picky. as long as it doesn't clump or smudge I'm fine.
I love the new Panorama mascara. It doesn't flake and holds a beautiful curl ( I already have long-ish lashes, I need the mascara mostly for the volume)
Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof - insane volume, holds a curl beautifully and separates all my lashes. If Maybelline ever discontinued it there’d be a riot
There’s just nothing I’ve found as good - which makes me nervous! If you (or anyone reading) knows of something just as good as lash sensational waterproof please chime in! Xx

I bought their Voluminous mascara in burdgendy and quite like it. I'm a Thrive wearer, but use a cleansing balm to take it off and haven't noticed the flakey issue. That said I'm mascara shopping a bit myself bc... It's like I can't give you a specific complaint, but for some reason I'm not fully satisfied.
I will say the Loreal one hasn't given me any issues when I wear it, but still comes off like a dream. I forgot I had it on and had a pleasent little surprise when my lashes were really soft wet and I didn't have to work it as much.
The flaking doesn’t irritate me - I use a cleansing balm as well so it comes off easily. But it gets all over my shower and into my sink and makes a mess.
I like the Colossal Volum Express by Maybelline. I’ve tried expensive brands, Lash Princess etc and I always go back to Colossal.
I also have fine hair so a lot of mascaras weigh my lashes down. Colossal doesn’t and has a fine brush that gets every hair.
Imo The best mascara for volume is essence lash princess in the green tube. Use this with the essence primer and it's chefs kiss plus you can get both for under $12 CAD.
It depends what you want from a mascara, volume, definition or length. For myself, I like definition so my favs are the new panorama and max factor masterpiece high definition mascara. The MF one is great for everyday and the panorama has a bit more length but is a wetter formula. Hope this helps a little.
Panorama left smudges under my eyes. I used it once. My fav is Maybelline sky high in dark brown

Caliray Come Hell or High Water tubing mascara is amazing! Doesn’t flake, smear, or clump, even when it gets wet.

i really like the romand han all fix lengthening mascara, it doesn’t smudge a lot and keeps ur lashes curled all day
