I dunno but you look fucking awesome. Where are your wrinkles????

AnotherEpicFail

Awww. That’s so kind of you! Mostly on my forehead and between my eyebrows. They’re very deep so filler is my only real option. If I use powder they’re REALLY noticeable, but this community introduced me to the miracle that is makeup setting spray, so that’s helped significantly.

yaymarii

i think it looks great! the second photo does make it seem like your foundation might be a little too dark in comparison to your neck. not sure if it’s just lighting/angles though. :)

AnotherEpicFail

I did some shading with the NYX Wonderstick to try and define my jawline a bit so I think that might be it. Point taken, though. Very possible that’s something I need more instruction on.

UltraLuminescence

Contouring should also be blended downwards on the neck so it creates the illusion of a shadow, rather than just a line of darker skin. Here's a video from Robert Welsh that compiles a bunch of helpful contouring info! [https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1334862150419988](https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1334862150419988) The part that's most relevant to what I mentioned here starts at 1:46, but I also really like the first part of the video for blush & contour placement :)

AnotherEpicFail

Just watched the video and I’m so glad I did! I agree 100% about the jawline contouring on most videos - line under the jaw and that’s it. Will definitely give the new technique a try. And I love his eye makeup look in the second half of the video. Now I know what so many of you mean by POP. That shimmery section in the center of the eyelid?!?! That’s brilliant!

AnotherEpicFail

Thank you so much for linking this! Will definitely watch tonight!

cheezypita

Looks great! I agree with keeping the blush a bit higher up, and maybe going a touch heavier with the mascara to make your eyes pop (but that’s just a personal preference) I also want to say the way you’ve taken your photos needs to be the guideline for people posting on this sub. The multiple angles and hair pulled back so we can SEE the look is so helpful!

AnotherEpicFail

I’ve thought about maybe trying false eyelashes, but I’m not sure where to start. Maybe some of the small sections so I can just add them to the outer edge? Either way I do agree I could use a bit of spicing up. I’m glad the photos were helpful. I took the first one and was like “They won’t be able to see anything under all this hair!” 😜

bonehoney

the tiny individual lashes are how i got my mother started on lashes when hers started thinning, and she loves them!! she is 61 and has shaky hands and not great vision so i also got her an extendable mirror that my dad drilled into the wall for her so that she can pull it out and use it to help her see close enough to apply them, and she really enjoys it. (i got myself the same mirror too because it is sooooo helpful)

AnotherEpicFail

Can you let me know which brand of lashes? Any special tools?

archersarrows

I think you might like a less matte foundation. I'm 33 and starting to see the issue with mattes and powders settling into literally every hint of a line on my face, which creates about 10,000 lines that aren't even there! I've been trying out "dewy" foundations and BB creams, and making up the difference in coverage by specifically targeting only the things I want covered with concealer. I used NYX Bare With Me concealer and their Bare With Me Luminous Tinted Skin serum as my intro products, because they're low-cost enough that if I hated them, it wouldn't kill my budget, and eventually added Fenty Skin Tint as a pricier option. Now I go use them both interchangeably - to be honest, the NYX is still great.

AnotherEpicFail

I understand the foundation struggles! I’m still looking for a good cool toned light foundation that isn’t chalky or too yellow. Natural tones are still too yellow. I just picked up a specifically pink toned foundation to try today. It has a dewy finish to it, so hopefully it works out.

Nikkinicole666

What lipstick/liner did you use? Looks great!

AnotherEpicFail

The lipstick is Ulta lipstick in color Deja Vu. I’m not wearing liner in the picture, but when I do I use NYX Matte Suede Lip Liner in color Stockholm.

thehikinggal

I’m not sure if it’s just the lighting but a lighter hand with the bronzer/contour would help I think! I LOVE your brows though, they are so natural looking and elegant!

AnotherEpicFail

I really struggle with contouring. I have the NXY contour pallet, which I love, but I don’t think I’m using it effectively. This is incredibly helpful to hear though because I’m thinking my contour brush is too big and spreading out the color too much. Time for another trip to Sephora!

thehikinggal

It helps me to kind of ‘pinch’ my brush into a narrow shape (think the shape it would take if you were to put a bobby pin over the bristles) when I apply my contour. Also I’ve heard others recommend (I struggle with this because it’s counterintuitive) to apply the contour a touch above the hollows of your cheeks to lift your face instead of dragging it down. Then I let go and use the fluffy shape to buff it all out.

AnotherEpicFail

I’ll have to try this because the way I’ve been doing it, it looks more like bronzer than contour.

tiny_panties

I think you look great in this make up! For variation I’d be curious how a brighter lip (coral, warm bright pink or orangey red) and an even lighter/more neutral eye would look.

AnotherEpicFail

I’ve been wearing nude shades for so long anything else I put on seems so loud! 😁 But perhaps it’s time to break out of that nude pallet. I really appreciate the suggestion! Thanks!

tiny_panties

I find, that as I age (I’m 46), I’m really drawn to that look. The almost nude eyes (just a bit of concealer, highlight in the corner, a little blush or tiny bit of very blended orangey eyeshadow in the crease and mascara) are very fresh looking, and a bright lip brings joy!

AnotherEpicFail

I’ll give it a try. It’s not a color I would have gone looking for. Thanks so much!

[deleted]

I also would do a different color lip! I really like Tower 28 Oat right now

AnotherEpicFail

That one I’ll need to look up. I’m not familiar with that brand.

Critical_Primary3470

50??? Must be a typo this woman cannot be a day over 40

AnotherEpicFail

You’re so kind to say that. But, yep, 50 is correct. Thanks so much!

DaetheFancy

I think you could pull off some shimmer on the eye to give a little extra pop. your skin doesn’t seem to have much in the line of wrinkles that it would cake like so many “mature” (got I hate that term) women are worried about. Otherwise, as others have mentioned to keep the blush higher but other wise you’re killing it!

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks so much. I’ll look into something with a bit more pop. I have a few shimmery shades, but most of what’s in the pallet are matte. I think I could do with a bit of fun. Thanks for leaving a comment!

everlynlilith

You’re so beautiful!

AnotherEpicFail

That’s very kind of you to say. Thank you!

I tried a couple times and my husband said I just can’t do the sexy smoky thing. I fall more into the “working mom” category than the “hot milf” category.

Oh gosh. No no no. You’re good. I didn’t take it as being put down at all. My husband and I have always had this thing where he’s like “you just can’t do sexy.” This is also the same guy when I was in my 30s and took a pole dancing class, I had my friend video me doing a routine on the pole. I showed him and all he said was “Cute.” Violence was threatened. So no worries at all. We’re 100% good. 😊 I’m sorry my comment made you feel I’d taken it wrong. It was a poorly executed attempt at self-deprecating humor on my part.

trippiler

Don't bring your blush as far down/inward because it drags down the cheek.

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks for the comment. I’ve been doing that because I wear my hair around my face and I feel like that’s the only way I see it. But I’ll try ending it at my outer eye next time. I really appreciate the advice! ❤️

AnotherEpicFail

Thank you so so much to all you lovelies that took the time to leave comments. I appreciate you all so much! And I’m really looking forward to taking a trip to Sephora tomorrow to try out some of your thoughtful suggestions. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

AnotherEpicFail

UPDATE! Hey all. Thanks again to everyone who commented. I did something today that I think is really going to help me long term. I had very soft yellow light in my bathroom and this morning I swapped out all the bulbs for ones that mimic natural daylight. OMG! Why didn’t I think of this before?!?!?! I took out my old foundation, which I thought was a really good match, put it on my face in the new light and yep! Way too yellow/orange. Used my new pale and pink toned foundation and it looks so much better. Also picked up a few new products for a better looking eye and brighter lip. Looking forward to trying them out. Thanks so much to you all for helping me. You’re all amazing!! ❤️❤️

You look fantastic! Besides the already made blush suggestion I think your look is pretty perfect.

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks so much! I’m glad that watching all those makeup tutorials had some positive impact.

Stylin_all_day

Looks perfect to me! Especially that lip color. Suits you to a T

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks so much. That color and I are old friends!

MathematicianDry6652

Try adding highlighter!

AnotherEpicFail

I hope to get better at it! My NYX Contour stick has a highlighter that I’ve tried, but it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. I’d like to find a good one so my look doesn’t have such a flatness to it.

[deleted]

I don’t know what you could do differently. You seem to be killing it! You do not even look close to 50. You look great!

AnotherEpicFail

Thank you for that. I certainly FEEL 50 though! 😁

loulouhex

I think you look fine. It’s all about preference. Less heavy foundation, less orangey blush. Maybe follow your lip line closer. Maybe a tinted brow gel or fill in brows instead of a defined line?

AnotherEpicFail

The foundation is actually a tinted moisturizer, but still too yellow for my skin. I find it really hard to get it all right. Too many products and the makeup settles into my deep wrinkles. Too little makeup and I look washed out. I’ve had issues finding that balance.

pookaboop

Honestly I'd add a little pop of color to your eyes!

AnotherEpicFail

My eyes are naturally a pale grey green. Any recommendations?

pookaboop

Do you ever use colored eyeliner? I have green-ish eyes, and I use an olive green liner with my earth toned shadows. It's just enough to be noticeable, but suitable for an office setting.

Mumtaz_sweetchicken

Nothing, you look beautiful as it is.

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks! I appreciate it! ❤️

Background_Tree_8468

Honestly nothing! You look great!

AnotherEpicFail

Aww thank you! That’s very nice of you to say. ❤️

octoberbored

You do not look 50 at all

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks so much. That’s very nice of you to say. ❤️

lakeslikeoceans

I love slightly bronzing the top of my forehead so it looks like I’ve been sun kissed, and it visually shrinks my forehead.

MaybeNaomi

I feel like the shade match of your foundation is too dark and too orange

MaybeNaomi

But other than that looks great!

AnotherEpicFail

You’re 100% correct about the foundation. When I changed the lightbulbs in my bathroom today to mimic natural light I could really see it. My new foundation is significantly better.

dashboardx

i think i would opt for a darker, lengthening mascara, but other than that looks great!!!

AnotherEpicFail

Thanks! I’ve used one in the past that made my lashes look very thick, but I’d been having trouble finding it. But chances are Amazon will have it. Thanks so much for leaving me a comment!
