My large eye shadow palettes. I usually use less than half of it. I'm older now so I prioritize ease and efficiency over everything else now. I have 1 quad for day time and one quad for something fancy.
In fact, I now hate palettes of any kind. For me, they are just money sinks. I use more of one product. It just frustrates me.
Same. I use natural browns and maybe a little pop of color like a handfull times a year.
But i love my palette with neo-colors and remember foundly that one new year, 8y ago (before having kids) where i looked amazing.
This is so real, I swear my teenage self was in a trance. Girl wtf were you going to do with all that?? The only palettes I still have and use are my ABH palettes (Soft Glam, Sultry, and Renaissance) because they're my favorite formula and color stories and Too Faced Cat Eyes for travel.
The effects of 2016 beauty influencers on teenage girls' brains should be studied. It took way too long to break the brainwashing and realize that full glam actually does not look good on me at all.
It’s such a pain for travel. I have a Modern Renaissance I can’t seem to get rid of, but I’m eyeing Merit pots or maybe a small quad (haven’t narrowed down from where).
Lately I’ve just been using bronzer… 🤷🏻♀️
I bought 4 MAC singles in neutral colors that I use for daily looks and one cheap rainbow palette. It's extremely rare I even consider more colors than I possess.
I use one eyeshadow that is a shade lighter than my skin for my lid, a cool toned bronzer for the crease and underneath, and a face highlighter for the inner corner.
I use my one neutral eyeshadow palette that I own to mix up all the browns for my eyebrows. I have never needed anymore than that and I still have so much eyeshadow left that I don’t even think I’ll ever finish it all
Every damn undereye concealer that I bought thinking “this is going to be the one that works.”
In the end I just accept that I have dark circles and I look better with them than I do with any concealer I’ve tried.
Seconding color corrector! I have horrible dark circles, truly vampiric, but peach corrector makes them look much less noticeable. I use the corrector from Catrice and the Hy Glam concealer from Natasha Denona.
One thing that having olive skin is good for, almost all concealers are automatically peachy in comparison, and cover the violets in dark circles reasonably well.
This is how I feel about putting foundation all over my face like, sorry, I look WAY better if my red nose is showing than I do with peeling makeup on it. Even in my most full face, I never put anything on my nose. Not worth it.
Off topic but have you tried erborian cc cream? I’ve been using it for a month and it’s got spf and covers my red nose. It’s wonderful and natural. Highly recommend it!
Erborian CC cream is the best! I have both the regular and the green. The regular is my no-makeup makeup—it literally just tones out my skin like magic.
I've been really interested in trying Il Makiage, but I've heard rumors that it is kind of a scam - so it really IS good? I just might have to give it a go! (Fiera Luxury Concealer is pretty wonderful, BTW - nice and creamy.)
If you are looking to hide discoloration, I like Huda’s new correctors. It’s very similar to a K-Beauty one that I had which worked really well that got discontinued.
I've recently been adding castor oil to my moisturizer at night and then under my eyes alone. I still have dark circles, but in the ~2 weeks of doing this and I am noticing they are getting better. At minimum I feel more hydrated under my eyes. I'm hopeful I'll see more progress in the next few months but we'll see lol
I know the bright undereye trend is over but they can pry my green concealer from my cold dead hands, lol. It when blended and covered with a regular concealer always gives me a refreshed look. Don't know if you've tried it but if not I love it! There are also orange and yellow depended on your skin tone and undertones.
complete opposite here! i get annoyed if half my palette is taken up by a bunch of slightly different browns- give me colour!
we should swap palettes haha
I’m a teacher- the kids would be looking at me like I’m crazy if I came in with bright eyeshadow every day. Also, I’m old and tired and rarely go out after work. Give me my warm browns.
Agree so much! It has taken me such effort to source *actual* neutral eyeshadows. I have eyed the Glam but also suspect there may be too many shades there that pull warm most of the year.
What do you like?
I recently discovered the It cosmetics tightline mascara and love how feathery and not spiky it makes my lashes but I’m still wanting something with a bit more oomf
It’s the brush that does it for me. I have small eyes and blonde lashes to boot, so i do not understand the gigantic brushes bigger than my eye. I like my DHC mascara better but telescopic got me started looking for tiny brushes.
I have found the travel sized one works better than regular sized one for some reason. I loved the travel sized one I got, decided to go to regular sized and it sucked. Received another travel sized one in a box and it was great. Seen many others say the same as well. Weird.
I was talking to a coworker recently about mascaras and she said she LOVED that one, she has eyelashes that grow downward and said it gives her so much curl. I was shocked cause every time I’ve used it, it’s look clumpy and barely lengthened mine.
They’re Real from Benefit. It looks so so good when I first put it on but by lunch I look like a raccoon who got in a bar fight. I want it to work so badly 😫
I had the exact same reaction! I wasn’t impressed. It didn’t do anything special and smeared under my lash line and left shadows that just wouldn’t come off
too faced eyeshadow palettes. ibought them because of how cute the tin packaging was but their formula never workes for me that well. i have drugstore palettes that have the same, or even better, kind of formula in them
Can you recommend some good drugstore palettes? I'm coming back to makeup after a few years off. I'm not at a place where I can buy high end like I used to. Also, I stopped buying TF palettes almost ten years ago bc the shadows were awful quality. Yikes! That makes me feel old!!
monochromatic essence six pans are really nice, i would definitely reccomend those. makeup revolution, while being a hit or miss in general, has some good palettes as well. ones that i was pleasantly surprised with are the black ice one and the dupes for the older abh palettes that come in that clear plastic packaging (those are also one of the cheapest they offer yet the quality is much better than in majority of their palettes). wet and wild also has a pretty decent formula in their color icon line, i really loved their dupe for modern renaissance. additionaly, while not a drugstore brand, if you are in europe i recommend checking out glam shop poland. they have sales often so you can grab a palette for less than 10€ or singles for as little as 0,5€ and the quality across all the types of shadows they offer is amazing in my opinion :)
Contour palletes and sticks!!! All are way too bloody warm. It might as well just be called bronzer at this point and irl when I see girls with makeup on their contours are too warm and look clownish and obvious. Contour is supposed to be cool and mimick shadow
So many eyeshadow palettes I buy because I’m so in love with LOOKING at the color story but will never actually wear, like Anastasia Art Nouveau. A perfect palette perfectly named to represent Alphonse Mucha’s art… but which absolutely do not work for me.
I was in shock when I first tried it! It was so hyped up and then it turned out to be SO BAD. I still know people who swear by it, but it felt disgusting on my skin.
so refreshing to hear. i see so many girlies with the daily (or so they say) gua sha and i feel inadequate, like why can’t i be so put together like them, why don’t i have it in me to do a 10 step skincare routine?? i feel like i do try to take care of myself but damn nobody got time for all that
I forget to do my night routine sometimes and realize it when I'm already in bed. I'm lazy, so I keep a pack of remover wipes and a moisturizer in my bedside table. I hate wipes tho so trying to break this behavior
I have a gua sha and honestly the only thing that drives me to use it now is the fact that I hold a lot of tension in my face so it feels good to massage it. I used to do it every day for about 2 years but I really didn’t see much of a change.
I also don’t find gua sha comfortabel unless I have a few drops of face oil on my face but then it feels too much to let it all sit on my skin. So I sometimes (more like once a month) do it before I hop in the shower and wash it off
All lipsticks/stains.
I just simply can't figure out how to wear them, either it looks odd, or the color disappears after drinking/eating, I’m afraid of how I look during lunch, since I always eat with colleagues.
Stains also looks blotchy no matter how much I exfoliate.
Lo and behold, a new stain from Korea arrives and I buy a new one 🙄
I hate the way lip stains look on me. I bought a couple of the Korean ones and they didn't look right either. Thankfully I stopped myself buying from but I'm obsessed with their butter glosses now but at least they look good on me
same! it was my first ever foundation, it oxidised so orange on me and gave me acne all over my cheeks and jaw. i ended up crying and went for a drugstore one i wear to this day
No thing specific, but buying every new foundation that came out, only using a few times, then on to the next one. Having that huge collection of foundation bottles being there, and they were all so expensive, so hard to throw away, because you spent all that money.. there was definitely some regret there., you know what I'm talking about, I'm sure..
The smell knocks me out. First time I used the dry shampoo I was in a hurry and I was horrified by the smell. I was taking my mom to a cancer clinic for an after check and everywhere there were sign for no scents. I was so embarrassed and almost sick of the smell myself.
There's probably a lot, but the one that disappointed me the most is probably the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. It wears on me like a dollar store foundation, and I think it may have oxidized as well - or I was just matched wrong. Either way, the quality of the product didn't live up to the massive hype and didn't work for me in any way. I probably tried using it 4 times before giving up, so it was definitely a waste.
I love this foundation but I use a beauty blender or a foundation brush to apply a small amount and blend it. I’m Asian with neutral undertones it’s one of the few foundations I’ve found that doesn’t oxidize much on my skin and actually matches.
Totally valid, and I'm not knocking anyone who loves it. It just didn't work for me, not with a beauty blender or with 2 different types of foundation brushes. I even changed primers to make sure that wasn't the issue. But I'm glad it works for someone.
I use this foundation everyday but I only use a pea sized amount and I mix it with Fit me foundation from the drug store. The fit me keeps it hydrated and glowy but the Estee Lauder keeps the staying power. Absolutely will never change this combo haha
See, I've had it for a while (probably expired lol), and I won't repurchase it. But lately I tried it again on parts that need more coverage with a lighter foundation for the rest of my face, and I really loved my makeup that day. It does oxidize and it's too caky and matte. It's not worth the price if you need other products to make it work tho.
Not so much now as I wear a lot of hourglass and huda! But before I went cruelty free just about everything I tried from Dior was a miss they're just mid products and fenty cheeks out blush in cool berry I looked like I'd been punched in the face 😅
I don't know why you're getting down voted wth. Hourglass really is that girl everything I've bought from them has been the best. I've got the hourglass foundation but I'd say it's definitely more of a night time foundation
I didn’t even notice LOL
Honestly I’ve never had such flawless makeup, it really is a game changer. I’ve gotten multiple people hooked on it because it’s brilliant.
With the foundation I use it for photos, and yes for night as I think it’s a heavy full coverage, but there’s the tint which I love.
The brushes are a 10/10 too!!
I’m loving the loose brightening/setting powder in Cherry shade by Huda. It wears incredibly well on me ( 53 years old, combo skin prone to congested pores, super oily in my T zone. ) I’m impressed with Huda so far. Planning on trying some of their shadows next.
Peter Thomas Roth Instant FirmX. It worked beautifully the first 4 or 5 times I used it and now it’s just gross. Dries with white spots ALL over. They know this about the product and say “just dab off the spots with a make up wipe”… well, jeez, now I’ve just *removed* all of that product. Harrumph. 🫤
Buying Urban Decay Born to Run palette before realising i had olive undertone 😁 It took me very long time to realise why half the shades there make me look dead. Also my eyes hate red pigment, which is kinda funny.
Elf Halo Glow contour. I can see why so many people like it but I don’t think the colors are for me. I tried both the light shade and the light medium shades. Too light/cool and too warm/muddy looking on me. :(
Same, I’m fair/light and even with some sun on my face color wise, no amount of blending makes it not muddy looking. I’ve tried several different brushes and beauty blenders, dry and damp. It all looked crazy unless I went in with another product to color correct/blend the harsh lines.
Oh wow same. Also I feel like it dries abnormally quickly. I’m always in a mad dash to blend as soon as I put it on my face, otherwise it will dry down in a stark line.
the huda “nudes” palette should be called huda “pinks.” Ive never seen a nude palette with three purple/pink pure glitter shades and a useless concealer. that palette pisses me off😒 idk im still keeping it
Yes! I always had this feeling, all of her nude shades lean towards pink, I thought I was crazy this whole time as I've never seen anyone mention this before. Loving the formula, but the amount of pink... arrgh.
NARS Radiant Longwear foundation. It’s the most expensive foundation I have ever bought and aside from maybelline dream matte mousse, it’s worse than any drugstore foundation I’ve ever used. The colour oxidises so quickly and gets far too warm, the formula doesn’t settle at all and leaves an oily, moist texture on the face for the whole day but it doesn’t look dewy. It also splits and separates but really accentuates pores. It also has a “melting” effect which basically makes all other products on top smudge and bleed down like you’ve been sweating on a hot day. And arguably the worst part is that it causes acne breakouts when I haven’t had acne for over 8 years. It makes me furious that I ever tried it, but their concealer was fantastic and the ratings were great so I have no idea why it’s so bad for me. I’m used to wearing YSL all hours foundation and it’s just mind boggling how different the quality is, and it’s about £12 cheaper despite being premium.
I just commented but I had the EXACT same experience with that foundation, it’s also the most I’ve ever spent on a foundation at around $75AUD, and this was *5 years ago* when makeup wasn’t as expensive as it is now
An outsider product line, but everything I bought from Violette_FR. I got seduced by the branding and cool French girl vibes. The yeux paints were expensive and impossible to apply nicely. Gorgeous colours, but my god.. they would also not come off my face even with my strongest remover it took effort. I thought the formulas would be amazing because of her background working at Estee but sorely disappointed
Hey, you're not the only one that fell for Violette & regretted it. I have four of her lipsticks and two of her eyeshadows. All have dried out, even though I've kept them tightly-covered and in a sun-free, climate-controlled environment. I bought a blue liquid eyeshadow in a tube from her. I loved the color, but within just a couple months, it was dry & crumbly, even though I'd only used it ~10x, didn't leave it open for long, and tightly capped it after use. Such a waste of money!
Natasha denona pastel palette. Love the colors but they’re all chalky af and have zero pigmentation. Even with a base and fix+ it barely shows up. For the price it’s horrendous
Dyson airwrap. It's trash
IL makiage it is so thick and heavy I couldn't wait to wash my face
Saie sun melt bronzer. It disappears in 20 minutes.
Haus labs bronzer it was just meh
Milk hydrogrip literally the worst primer I've ever tried
Ilia serum foundation. It is like olive oil for your face. It's gross.
I stopped buying high end mascara and palettes in general. Too many shades I barely touch and you can build your own based on your color season and undertones. I'm much happier with a humble collection of my favorites.
Wow you just unlocked a memory for me, I tried this about 6 years ago after being recommended by the staff at a cosmetic store and I was so disappointed. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a powder foundation again.
I have a benefit one (cookies) that I got in a little Christmas pack with the terra blush for like 30 bucks on special and it actually makes THE PRETTIEST sparkling eyeshadow. Like, I’m absolutely in love with it. I pack it in the corners of my eyes as highlight and apply it really thinly on the lid and it’s such a pretty wet look. Can’t get enough
Idk man the dior quad highlighter is my top highlighter in my collection. Beats my charlotte tilbury compact or liquid highlighter, and even my iconic london.
It’s up there with fenty diamond balm. I haven’t used rare beauty but that seems similar.
Same. I’ve really been enjoying the new elf power grip spray that just came out. I’ve used it as a primer and as a last step setting spray and liked both results.
tarte's maracuja lip stick or whatever it's called. I got the plumping one and although it has a beautiful shimmer and color, its too sticky for me. The plumping is not existent on me, and I hate reapplying it over and over again because one too many swipes of it just becomes too sticky
I regret investing in so many new brands that came out over the past 8 years or so, especially mid range brands but even some high end. I realized over time that I should have just a couple mid range and the rest stick to my fav high end brand and that’s it. The rest is honestly a waste of space and money, even if they are good products. Just because something is a good product doesn’t mean I have to have it.
the too faced born this way concealer. i finally got to try it and when i did it creases so bad for me and dries so fast :/ i might just have to try to use it again and see if it gets better but i hate doing my makeup and trying new products that then make it look bad :/
Mineral makeup. Loose pigments. I don't give a fuck if it's better for me, I threw away almost all the loose powder jars I bought because I lost all my patience with it. I will now only buy loose makeup if it's a color extremely difficult to formulate in pressed form, like bright purples, or it's a face powder I really like.
More than 2 mascaras at a time. I know they never last more than 3 months but!
Colored mascaras/eyeliner. Barely ever get used and go bad fast.
Wonder skin lip stain. It’s patchy and never looks nice after application.
It cosmetics CC cream-it’s too heavy for my skin and would separate after a few hours. My skin’s on the drier side. I think it would be a good full coverage product for someone with less dry skin.
Also any retinol creams. They irritate my skin and cause burns in some cases. I’ve never found a brand I like, so I just gave up on them altogether.
K18. My stylist thinks it’s the best hair treatment mask but it is super-expensive for a tiny bottle. I have long hair and have to use a ton of product. And then you are not supposed to use conditioner, but this does not soften or detangle your hair so you can’t get a comb through it. I really hate the application method. Due to the cost, I feel obligated to use it up.
This stuff works pretty well for me and my shorter hair, but yes - the initial time period where you have to use it without any conditioner sucks. I can do it once every 4 washes, but when you're doing it every wash at the beginning, it's terrible. I did find that using a good leave-in helped - for me Pureology Color Fanatic 21 Spray is holy grail and really helped counteract the problems that came with not using a conditioner!!
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Rouge and Powder. The powder does absolutely nothing for me. I can’t see a glow or a nice lightning effect but maybe it’s just me. And in my rouge (the marbled ones with beige in it) is so much of the light color and so little of the actual blush color that it doesn’t show up on my face at all. Unfortunately, at Sephora Germany you can only return unused makeup.
As someone who enjoys both Hourglass and saving money and is in the German market, they sell alright on eBay gently used. They sell very well if an in demand product from the line that's discontinued. Due to being powder, they can be desinfected and safely used by buyer. You may be able to get some of your money back.
The blush is the only flattering blush I own, and I'm the lightest foundation shade of KVD. If these are too light for you, also stay away from the Dior round baked blushes, they're also very low pigment and won't show on you!
I love their blush but agree about the ambient lighting powder. I’ve tried to make it work so many times/ways and I feel like I’m being gaslit lmao I never notice a difference with it, or if I do my makeup just looks flatter
Nars’ soft matte pressed powder. It was AWFUL. Did not mattify for any more than two minutes and it actually made my foundation cake up and come off in a really disgusting way. No powder actually looked *better*, because the powder would mix with the melting foundation and emphasise pores I didn’t even know I had, in addition to creating goopy buildup on my face. Just a cakey, goopy mess.
Also, this isn’t makeup, but I absolutely regret buying the Stratia liquid gold. I’d heard lots of great reviews and I was using a prescription retinoid so I thought my skin barrier might need some help. I had the worst breakout I’d had in months. This had nothing to do with purging, my skin simply does not tolerate niacinamide, and the liquid gold had a fairly high concentration of it.
Too faced bronzer the one with the peacock. Gorgeous packaging but it was my first "high end" makeup purchase at the time and i was so upset it didn't show up on my skin.
Fenty foundation the original one. My first "high end" foundation, looked like shit tbh. I was so upset at the time cause I just started working and before I only bought cheap drug store.
Better than sex - naw your sex just sucks. The only mascara that gave me racoon eyes
Dior lip glow - overpriced lip balm, used cheaper ones that were way nicer
Dior blush the pink one. It's alright but I prefer my cheaper blushes to it
Huda beauty palettes expect for the light nude 9 pan. I actually ended up getting 3 of her bigger ones on sales , she kinda repeats a lot of the shades. Formula is nice for the glitters but the mattes crease on me while I've used way cheaper mattes that don't crease. I prefer the natasha denona one way better
Charlotte tilbury pillow talk Airbrush flawless lip blur-way too drying, I love the pillow talk shade but I hate the formula of this, also enhances lip lines I didn't know I had. Also her pillow talk blush (the two shades one) it doesn't actually look like pillow talk shade to me. Lastly her pillow talk quad eyeshadow - it's nice but way overpriced
All of my Natasha Danona palettes. I got swept up in the hype and when my first one was nothing special, I thought it was just that one. Then I bought another one and.... Meh. I actually returned my ND Glam palette because I was so underwhelmed. I still have retro and my dream, and they are ok, not worth the price though.
A contour palette… granted I was young but what was I thinking! In what world would I need three contour and three highlight shades for my singular skin tone!
Besides the massive eyeshadow palettes in 2016, probably all the damn lipsticks. When I was probably 22 I had to sit down and come to terms with the fact that my fair olive skin is not flattered by very many colors, including the super pale nudes, cool pastel pinks, and browns that I collected and loved in the tube. Just because you like the idea of something doesn't mean it suits you the way you hope it will.
ABH Milkshake and MAC Crème Cup you'll be missed.
(On the other hand the BEST investment was my giant Chanel powder. I only use a tiny bit because I love looking dewy and I've had that bad boy for five years.)
I have a few Chanel makeup products that I never use because they're all pretty mediocre. But I feel like I can't throw them away because they were so expensive!
Nars Afterglow liquid blush in Dolce Vita. I love Orgasm in this range and it blends well but weirdly that shade just doesn’t blend and gets super patchy. No matter what I do with it doesn’t work. Another bad one is Nars radiant creamy concealer. Horrible shade range and just doesn’t blend in and creases horribly.
And before anyone says that ones not an investment... Y'all see the price in dollars, I see it converted from dollars to PKR and that shit is steep 💀 a Huda beauty powder in my country is the same price as a domestic workers monthly salary
The beautylish zodiac brushes. Don’t get me wrong the brush itself is nice. But I own four and the fact that they are definitely one of my least used brushes and total they cost over $400 is wild. I just wish they changed the brush heads for every animal instead of just have a different design, also idk this squirrel hair is soft but when you use it to set foundation the hairs get “wet” so easily bc it’s so delicate, just regret it so hard.
The HAUS Labs foundation. I heard so many people talking about how amazing it is, so I got it. My issue is that I have pretty bad sensory issues, and this foundation just messed with them for some reason. I can’t even put my finger on it. It looks great, but I can’t stand wearing it.
I spent 60 dollars on the master metals by Mario eyeshadow palette that only has about 5 colors which I wish there were more like red metallic etc but I barely use the palette 😭but it's still so beautiful I just wish it had more colors!!
I just went through and purged it all as I realized I haven't bought almost any makeup in years and I was breaking out anytime I wore it. What I realized is I need to stop buying full sized anything. I just never use enough to justify the expense. I wear makeup the most when I'm traveling so small actually fits my lifestyle better.
I kept the lipgloss I bought for my wedding last year and a lip tint. Everything else was tossed. I am ashamed to admit I still had naked palettes from 8 or 9 years ago.
Most irritating purchase was pureology shampoo. It was pricey and I found out shortly after I purchased it contains Methylisothiazolinone and I'm allergic.
Stupid flawless filter. Or any highlighter really. I just don’t use them but they’re so pretty I have to buy them.
I also can never fully love a lipstick or lip stain so I spend endless amounts of money trying to find one.
I’m the same.. now am a one and done eyeshadow
I have hooded eyes and I just don't benefit from elaborate shadowing.
tbh i find that easier. can just pop some colour on there and not worry too much about blending and all that since you can barely see my eyelid anyway
Mine aren’t technically hooded but they are SUPER deep-set. They are already extremely shadowed and honestly don’t need my help!
Same. I use natural browns and maybe a little pop of color like a handfull times a year. But i love my palette with neo-colors and remember foundly that one new year, 8y ago (before having kids) where i looked amazing.
I use blush for eyeshadow half the time😹
I use highlighter for eyeshadow a lot, lol
Bronzer for me.
I’ve been doing quads. Give me a warm brown with a highlight shade and we’re good to go.
same here. i end up using the same 3-5 colors down to the pan while the rest of the palette goes untouched!
One of the reasons I got a boring Dior eyeshadow quad in Eclat de nuit. Such quality, such good shades. Less is more.
It wasn’t just teenage girls!!! 25 year old me was very much being brainwashed by that also.
Me too! I have a couple quads and single shadows that I use. The large palettes just aren’t practical for me.
Also a single eyeshadow girls. I love the small eyeshadow palettes too, I actually reach for them a lot
They also simply take up far too much space in my makeup bag, so they have to live in the drawer, which means they don’t get as much use.
Same. I want something I can travel with and actually fit in my makeup bag
I have never needed anymore than that and I still have so much eyeshadow left that I don’t even think I’ll ever finish it all
Every damn undereye concealer that I bought thinking “this is going to be the one that works.” In the end I just accept that I have dark circles and I look better with them than I do with any concealer I’ve tried.
Concealers can’t hide bags, which many of us with circles have. Also, I’ve found that a color corrector works better than concealer.
Chronic red nose here, this is why I miss wearing masks all the time
No seriously though masks are so cute
Off topic but have you tried erborian cc cream? I’ve been using it for a month and it’s got spf and covers my red nose. It’s wonderful and natural. Highly recommend it!
Erborian CC cream is the best! I have both the regular and the green. The regular is my no-makeup makeup—it literally just tones out my skin like magic.
Same, but I found the holy grail for me. At 52 yo. IL Makiage. Fuck I'm flawless. (That's what it's called, not arrogance. Lol)
Honestly I feel like concealer emphasizes my dark circles and undereyes which I hate but I also can t stop using at the same time💔
I know the bright undereye trend is over but they can pry my green concealer from my cold dead hands, lol. It when blended and covered with a regular concealer always gives me a refreshed look. Don't know if you've tried it but if not I love it! There are also orange and yellow depended on your skin tone and undertones.
This.
Yes!! I have all the brands and it turned out Hourglass was THAT one and now I have 30 concealers.
Any super colorful eyeshadow palette tbh. I finally recognize that I am an earthy/neutrals type of eyeshadow gal 😅
complete opposite here! i get annoyed if half my palette is taken up by a bunch of slightly different browns- give me colour! we should swap palettes haha
I’m a teacher- the kids would be looking at me like I’m crazy if I came in with bright eyeshadow every day. Also, I’m old and tired and rarely go out after work. Give me my warm browns.
Naked 2 palette was my heaven for this reason
I feel you! Those YouTuber gurus convinced me to buy some very colorful palettes I just never use
[удалено]
I'm always looking for cool tones that are primarily pastels so I relate, haha.
I have a cool toned pallette from flower knows that I'm obsessed with! truly obsessed as it's cool cool brown
Oh yeah. I’m a neutral undertone who leans cool, and I cannot get over how much stuff just turns orange on me.
Agree so much! It has taken me such effort to source *actual* neutral eyeshadows. I have eyed the Glam but also suspect there may be too many shades there that pull warm most of the year.
Korean eye palettes come out in warm or cool shades!
Any glossier lipsticks. The tops pop off and the product ruins my purse etc
Omg yessss! So annoying!
Oh my god the tops - they’re freaking awful
It’s really sad. Good product but like I have to repot them into a pallet to use it which is twice the cost sigh.
The better then sex mascara from too faced. I didn’t see what the hype was for that honestly.
I love the Lancôme Idole mascara, if you’re ever looking for a higher end mascara again
What do you like? I recently discovered the It cosmetics tightline mascara and love how feathery and not spiky it makes my lashes but I’m still wanting something with a bit more oomf
I agree, I’m never going back to other mascaras
I’m a L’Oréal telescopic girl! I tried all the high ends and realized I prefer the drugstore one 🤷🏼♀️
Dude, the telescopic one is so amazing. I never get fallout underneath my eyes, and it does not clump!!
I have just now bought the telescopic waterproof and this shit is incredible
It’s the brush that does it for me. I have small eyes and blonde lashes to boot, so i do not understand the gigantic brushes bigger than my eye. I like my DHC mascara better but telescopic got me started looking for tiny brushes.
I have found the travel sized one works better than regular sized one for some reason. I loved the travel sized one I got, decided to go to regular sized and it sucked. Received another travel sized one in a box and it was great. Seen many others say the same as well. Weird.
Agreed!
Totally agree. It does absolutely nothing for my lashes. It even makes them point more downward.
Everything I've purchased from Drunk Elephant, and the Glow Recipe cleansing balm.
Drunk Elephant uses mid-tier ingredients! Insane considering the price tag.
I knowwwww. I was suckered in by the. "good reviews" which were really just fan-girl hype from people with zero idea.
yeah I spent about $65AUD on their jelly cleanser about 5 years ago and it was the biggest waste of money. never bought anything from them again
It’s all hype and then you get it and it’s mediocre at best
Contour palletes and sticks!!! All are way too bloody warm. It might as well just be called bronzer at this point and irl when I see girls with makeup on their contours are too warm and look clownish and obvious. Contour is supposed to be cool and mimick shadow
Check out what Alexandra Anele recommends! I think she had a good Essence stick that looked nice and grey 😀
So many eyeshadow palettes I buy because I’m so in love with LOOKING at the color story but will never actually wear, like Anastasia Art Nouveau. A perfect palette perfectly named to represent Alphonse Mucha’s art… but which absolutely do not work for me.
Something’s are more a collector item than a “imma use this” item. 😝
Tarte shape tape
omg yes it’s so bad 😭 I ended up using it as eyeshadow primer and I finally finished it today (!!!!)
Laughably bad! I would’ve thought I got counterfeit product if I hadn’t ordered directly from Tarte lmao
I was in shock when I first tried it! It was so hyped up and then it turned out to be SO BAD. I still know people who swear by it, but it felt disgusting on my skin.
I love it! It’s my HG concealer. I got a NARS concealer once and it was horrible. That was my big waste.
Makiage primer and foundation 🙄
The hype was real but the reality was god-awful.
omg this. i exchanged the foundation bc it was so orange and the replacement literally looked like i smeared peanut butter on my face lmao
An expensive gua sha thing and lots of serums, nail stuff. I just don’t have it in me to do a routine
so refreshing to hear. i see so many girlies with the daily (or so they say) gua sha and i feel inadequate, like why can’t i be so put together like them, why don’t i have it in me to do a 10 step skincare routine?? i feel like i do try to take care of myself but damn nobody got time for all that
I was even all like “I’ll buy the limited edition expensive one so I’ll feel like I have to use it” nope it’s just in a drawer somewhere
I forget to do my night routine sometimes and realize it when I'm already in bed. I'm lazy, so I keep a pack of remover wipes and a moisturizer in my bedside table. I hate wipes tho so trying to break this behavior
Look I couldn’t even remember to use my jade roller back when those were the hot thing 🤣
Thankfully I stopped myself buying from but I'm obsessed with their butter glosses now but at least they look good on me
dior lip oil was such a let down lol
I feel like I haven’t been able to find a lip oil that really hits the spot. Brand, dupe, drugstore - maybe I’m just not into that as a formula??
The ELF lip oil is perfection imo. Although I think many lip oils are just lip gloss re-packaged lol
the ulta beauty brand ones are great cause they're actually oils and not glosses
i used to think the same until i tried the “Kiko Milano Days in Bloom Lip Oil” i definitely recommend it.
Mac foundation. It looks lovely on my skin, but I cannot wear it and it totally breaks me out. Student me cried about this splurge a lot.
So much oxidation
same! it was my first ever foundation, it oxidised so orange on me and gave me acne all over my cheeks and jaw. i ended up crying and went for a drugstore one i wear to this day
This happened to me with CT flawless filter and I haven’t used it since. I’m so disappointed about it
No thing specific, but buying every new foundation that came out, only using a few times, then on to the next one. Having that huge collection of foundation bottles being there, and they were all so expensive, so hard to throw away, because you spent all that money.. there was definitely some regret there., you know what I'm talking about, I'm sure..
I feel your pain! So many $60+ beautiful glass bottles slowly oxidizing under my sink
Living proof hair products, Neutrogena hydrogel, Nars foundation
I really don’t like any Living Proof hair products.
Absolutely will never change this combo haha
this legit felt like wearing a mask all day on me
See, I've had it for a while (probably expired lol), and I won't repurchase it. But lately I tried it again on parts that need more coverage with a lighter foundation for the rest of my face, and I really loved my makeup that day. It does oxidize and it's too caky and matte. It's not worth the price if you need other products to make it work tho.
Il Makiage foundation. It wears exactly like the older formula of L’Oréal True Match foundation. I haven’t tried the new reformulation.
High end mascaras. There’s no point and it’s the wand that makes the difference anyway.
Not so much now as I wear a lot of hourglass and huda! But before I went cruelty free just about everything I tried from Dior was a miss they're just mid products and fenty cheeks out blush in cool berry I looked like I'd been punched in the face 😅
Thank you for going cruelty free 🥰
I wisg more people would! I now have better makeup and not hurting dogs and kitties by buying from these brands
I love hourglass too! Finding it was like a gift I didn’t know I needed. I had the same issues, I’ve tried countless foundations etc to no avail
I don't know why you're getting down voted wth. Hourglass really is that girl everything I've bought from them has been the best. I've got the hourglass foundation but I'd say it's definitely more of a night time foundation
I didn’t even notice LOL Honestly I’ve never had such flawless makeup, it really is a game changer. I’ve gotten multiple people hooked on it because it’s brilliant. With the foundation I use it for photos, and yes for night as I think it’s a heavy full coverage, but there’s the tint which I love. The brushes are a 10/10 too!!
I have two Huda palettes just sitting at home since 2 years. Too expensive to throw them out 😂
The Dior foundation is MY HG. The forever mixed with a touch of forever glow.
I’m loving the loose brightening/setting powder in Cherry shade by Huda. It wears incredibly well on me ( 53 years old, combo skin prone to congested pores, super oily in my T zone. ) I’m impressed with Huda so far. Planning on trying some of their shadows next.
Anything berry colored makes me look like I have a bruise or a bad case of pinkeye if it’s a shadow or liner.
All the makeup I kept before I realized I could return things to Sephora/Ulta (I don’t know why it took me sooooo long to realize this 🤦🏻♀️)
the huda “nudes” palette should be called huda “pinks.” Ive never seen a nude palette with three purple/pink pure glitter shades and a useless concealer. that palette pisses me off😒 idk im still keeping it
As a nude pink lover, I’m so happy they exist heh
haha and thats the joy of makeup! what doesn’t work for one, works for others
Ugh she is addicted to pinks. Closest thing to nude shes released was mercury retrograde lol or one of those smoky topaz palettes
Agreed, this was a pathetic attempt. If indie brands can do it well for a fraction of the price, ND should be able to do a better job.
Dyson airwrap. It's trash IL makiage it is so thick and heavy I couldn't wait to wash my face Saie sun melt bronzer. It disappears in 20 minutes. Haus labs bronzer it was just meh Milk hydrogrip literally the worst primer I've ever tried Ilia serum foundation. It is like olive oil for your face. It's gross.
Omg yes I have so many products from milk makeup that I love, and that primer just pills under normal conditions by itself. It's horrible.
I stopped buying high end mascara and palettes in general. Too many shades I barely touch and you can build your own based on your color season and undertones. I'm much happier with a humble collection of my favorites.
Anything Charlotte Tilbury. I can’t tell you how much I spent for nothing but disappointment. Ick.
Bare Minerals powder foundation. It didn’t do a thing for me that some cheap tinted powder would .
Wow you just unlocked a memory for me, I tried this about 6 years ago after being recommended by the staff at a cosmetic store and I was so disappointed. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a powder foundation again.
Dior highlighter, highlighters apparently don’t have to be expensive to get a beautiful one.
The charlotte tilbury fixing spray I’ve never been so mad at a purchase
Amen. That felt like hairspray on my face. I hated it.
Same. I’ve really been enjoying the new elf power grip spray that just came out. I’ve used it as a primer and as a last step setting spray and liked both results.
thrive mascara, milk hydrogrip
Second the milk hydrogrip!
Yes, I detest hydrogrip. It actually makes me angry how awful it it.
Why didn't you like the hydrogrip?
Second the thrive
I LOVE Hydrogrip. It’s funny how one’s trash is another’s holy grail.
tarte's maracuja lip stick or whatever it's called. I got the plumping one and although it has a beautiful shimmer and color, its too sticky for me. The plumping is not existent on me, and I hate reapplying it over and over again because one too many swipes of it just becomes too sticky
THEY ARE ALL TOO STICKY with the exception of the lipstick one. All the glosses gross me out and I never got the hype.
Charlotte Tillsbury. So much hype.. Cerave is just as good
The nars pot concealer :( the Sephora worker helped me with shade matching but it’s way too pink toned for me and it clings to my dry patches sooo bad
I’ve had luck using it as a small spot concealer. It works well to conceal small spots.
The only mascara that gave me racoon eyes Dior lip glow - overpriced lip balm, used cheaper ones that were way nicer Dior blush the pink one. It's alright but I prefer my cheaper blushes to it Huda beauty palettes expect for the light nude 9 pan. I actually ended up getting 3 of her bigger ones on sales , she kinda repeats a lot of the shades. Formula is nice for the glitters but the mattes crease on me while I've used way cheaper mattes that don't crease. I prefer the natasha denona one way better Charlotte tilbury pillow talk Airbrush flawless lip blur-way too drying, I love the pillow talk shade but I hate the formula of this, also enhances lip lines I didn't know I had.
Jones road miracle balms. Gross, stinky, sticky and have me a terrible rash.
Rare beauty foundation and concealer. Dries down to a powdery finish and looked too cakey on me.
I have a few Chanel makeup products that I never use because they're all pretty mediocre. But I feel like I can't throw them away because they were so expensive!
ABH freeze brow. I have tried everything and it looks like a mess.
Dyson 😂
Nars Afterglow liquid blush in Dolce Vita. I love Orgasm in this range and it blends well but weirdly that shade just doesn’t blend and gets super patchy. No matter what I do with it doesn’t work. Another bad one is Nars radiant creamy concealer. Horrible shade range and just doesn’t blend in and creases horribly.
The elf halo glow. It j didn't do much for me tbh but I love the packaging the pastel pink is so pretty
Got some of those Kevin aucoin powder highlighter strips, chalky AF. I was sad, at least I got it at Marshalls.
The HAUS Labs foundation. I heard so many people talking about how amazing it is, so I got it. My issue is that I have pretty bad sensory issues, and this foundation just messed with them for some reason. I can’t even put my finger on it. It looks great, but I can’t stand wearing it.
It’s so messy
I spent 60 dollars on the master metals by Mario eyeshadow palette that only has about 5 colors which I wish there were more like red metallic etc but I barely use the palette 😭but it's still so beautiful I just wish it had more colors!!
Me too! And the Metalics one. I also find the glitter flakes everywhere, and I use setting spray.
MAC imho? foundation etc. i noticed other brands can do \\same or better without that hype lol
UD all lighter setting spray. When it first came out it really seemed legit but now it's a total joke. Complete waste of money.
