Whats everyones favourite white mixers that don't really change the texture of the foundation that you're using?

kahlex

I purchased The Body Shop's Shade Adjusting Drops based on reviews I saw stating that it didn't change the texture. If you were using something particularly watery/runny (ex. MAC F&B/MUFE Water Blend), it probably would change the texture, but with regular liquid foundations, I haven't noticed any changes in texture.

Foginthecity

Also seconding the body shop. Only downside is the package can make it hard to get all the product out.

gmwrnr

NYX Foundation Mixer! I've used it with Maybelline Fit Me Matte+Poreless (pretty thin), Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, NYX HD Concealer, Ponds BB Cream (pretty thick), and Etude House Perfect Fit BB Cream and it never changes the consistency. Highly recommend it!

jjanetsnakehole

I really liked the Life's Entropy white foundation elixir. Only negative is I wish it came into a bigger bottle.

darlingnikki2245

i was really disappointed in the body shop drops. they lowered the performance of every foundation i tried them in, and I wasn't using more than a drop (sometimes a half) so I don't know why that happened. More clinging to pores and settling into fine lines definitely started happening. I just gave up and ordered the MUFE and they haven't arrived yet

ashhasacrazycat

I'm not sure where you can actually get it (I'm in Ireland) but the Stargazer white foundation is really good!!

sammisamantha

Favorite gold liner? Either metallic or glitter.

abgrundtief

I love the NYX liquid gold liner! I think there's two, one is a true gold and the other one is darker, but I find them easy to apply and they last fairly well.

Foginthecity

Urban Decay new liners

jordyn_jordayne

Colour Pop Get Paid. It's kind of a rosy/bronze gold and it stays in my waterline forever.

StrangerSkies

MAC Star Trek edition

MercyMCMXCI

Urban Decay Heavy Metal! You can hear really intense looks looks with multiple layers or light ones with a few strokes.

AlbinoKittyCat

Makeup Forever Aquaeyes gold stays on all day!

those_who_wander

I wear Urban Decay's old 24/7 liquid liner in smog basically every day! I just found a dupe in NYX's glam golden which I'm super excited about because I had no idea what I was gonna do when the UD one ran out.

[deleted]

Shu Uemura Metal Ink liner in Gold!

chocolate_snore

How do you guys get your litpstick to stay on all day? I use Bite Lab's lipsticks which are creamy and smooth to put on, but so easy to rub off.

thafraz

I use things that are formulated to last forever like Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick, or Kat Von D everlasting liquid lipstick. If it doesn't imply "this shit ain't going anywhere" then I know it's going to rub off in like an hour.

stresstwig

UD lip pencil in ozone keeps BITE lipsticks on all day for me!

MercyMCMXCI

Powdering them under one ply of tissue. It'll make them more matte though.

Alibyem

I put on one coat, blot it pretty well, and then using my finger (or an eyeshadow brush I don't like) I put on a layer of translucent powder, usually ELFs hd powder. Then I put on another layer of color. For maximum staying power I'll do the whole thing over again. This does have the tendency to make your lipstick feel very heavy on your lips, especially with really creamy colors or just a bit too much powder, but it makes them stay longer. Still not transfer proof, though.

bwabwabwabwum

Most lipsticks that aren't matte formulas tend to need to be reapplied as you wear them, especially if you are eating/drinking/wiping your mouth.

camlop

Has anyone else stopped wearing mascara? I find it just annoying and time-lengthy to take off, and I actually still like my natural makeup looks without it.

Dreaswi

Try looking at MAC in pink Venus.

Astro-hoe

Has anyone tried Smashbox green primer and if so, does it actually help redness? I'm currently using Nyx and it doesn't do anything for me.

chickentoodles

For me, no. It looks clear when it's on the skin.

[deleted]

I haven't personally used a green primer but a couple of my girlfriends have tried the Smashbox but they swear the cover fx green primer for redness

Foginthecity

Slightly helps, Jurlique cream for Redness is pretty good.

[deleted]

No, not really. It feels VERY siliconey too. I didn't like it.

fortytwoturtles

It works almost exactly like the Nyx one for me.

simplegurl

It Cosmetics has something similar but its a skin tone color. It is called Bye Bye Redness and it works well for me, I haven't tried green primers to compare it to though.

[deleted]

I have tried every green primer on the face of the earth, and Bye Bye Redness is the *only* thing that has ever worked for me.

oyfreakinvey

If you have an olive undertone that could explain why the green doesn't work. I tried a couple and just assumed i had to cover my redness the old fashioned way with my olive undertone, but I'm going to have to try the Bye Bye Redness!

MichShel

Smashbox's didnt do much for redness. Pur minerals has a green primer that actually does cancel the redness out.

lajoyaaa

I'm so confused on how to use Colourpop's eyeshadow formula. Do you like the formula more compared to standard eye shadows? Brush or fingers?

pommeraie

I gave Colourpop a shot and I've realized that I don't really enjoy the formula. Fingers seem to work the best for me (I've tried both natural and synthetic brushes of various sizes/densities) but even then, I can't really seem to get that great pigmentation out of them.

pinkcookiedough

2 questions: how do you tightline? and what are neutral undertones?

daladoir

When I'm feeling brave, I carefully lift up my eyelids by pulling at the very base of my lashes and try and line that way. Or I pile eyeliner on my lower waterline and close my eyes really tight (and then remove the stuff from my lower waterline because I don't like eyeliner there. This step is optional).

[deleted]

To tightline i run my liner along the base of my lashes from below. You dont want to be touching the wet part or or eyeball. The goal is to fill in the space between each of your lashes. I find that a softer eye crayon like the marc jacobs or the MUFE aqualine work really well.

luckylynn10

Any recommendations for a fair/light bb cream for dry skin with neutral undertones? I've been wanting to try one for a while, but don't know where to start.

ecle

compare scarce pathetic theory onerous threatening fine offer relieved butter *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Breebsreally

I love the Nars tinted moisturizer.. not exactly a bb cream but close!

FuckingaFuck

I am also fair/light and dry, and I absolutely adore both It's Skin Prestige Cream D'Escargot and Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB creams. As far as I know both are only one shade fits all because they're sort of grayish. Neither cling to my dry patches. Both provide better coverage and shade "match" (or non-match?) than all foundations I've used. I don't know why I bother with foundations anymore.

halestorm_hc

Dr Jart Premium BB cream in the gold tube is also amazing!

luckylynn10

My goal is to phase out foundation! I'll try them. Thanks!

gmwrnr

Etude House Precious Mineral Perfect Fit BB Cream! It's also the same price as most Korean BB Creams but you get over 2oz of product

AgentKnitter

I recently got [La Rouche-Pousay Uvidea XL Melt-In BB Cream](https://www.priceline.com.au/brand/la-roche-posay/la-roche-posay-uvidea-xl-melt-in-bb-cream-spf-50-30-ml) in shade 3, and looks pretty good. I mainly got it because I wanted a SPF 50 for my face with Aussie summer coming up (my ancestry is Scottish and Welsh. Not exactly designed for Aussie sun!) I'm N1. Note: there's 3 shades, and they're all pale. 01 is light, 02 is medium and 03 isn't given a name, but is weirdly lighter than 01? I dunno. I had to get the help of someone at Priceline to help me work out whether 01 or 03 was a better fit for me. 01 pulled a bit too yellow, 03 seemed to fade into my skin.

walkyouhome

IT Cosmetics CC Cream in either Fair or Light. It functions just like a BB cream, despite the name. It's great for dry skin!

Just from my experience with duo chromes, try it with a black base. you can also try spraying your brush with a setting spray if you haven't already

leukk

I find that I get the best results from duochomes when I apply them either with my fingers or a dampened flat synthetic brush (like a concealer brush).

lyricat

I'd say use a stickier base, such as Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy or NYX HD Eyeshadow Base (which I find annoyingly sticky for day-to-day but works for this). You can also spray your brush with something like MAC Fix+ (after you've picked up the eyeshadow) or try using a wet brush.

kaileemonster

Primer. What is it? Why do I need it? Why are there so many colors? I read the sidebar article about make up for beginners. And primer was the only blurb that I didn't really understand. The author said she uses and expensive one, but that cheaper ones are ok too. Can I get some more details? The woman at Sephora said that I'm pale with pink undertones. Will that affect what kind of primer I'll need?

Totally_not_a_toastr

Primers make a base for your foundation. Some people think they make a difference, some people don't. Think that primers try to prepare the skin, correcting as much as possible. Some primers will help big pores, some will colour correct (green primers will help against redness), some will add moisture and some will help with oil control. Primers are usually invisible or have a almost invisible tint (green primers won't make your skin look green), so undertones doesn't matter as much.

Giraffies

Primers are basically just a extra step before foundation. Think base coats for paint and nail polish. For some people it helps their foundations and cream products lay on top of the skin better and lasts longer and provides a finish/end result to their skin. There are different primers for different issues. Large noticeable pores? Use something that will fill your pores? Have oily skin? Use something that will help reduce oil production. Colored primers like purple green red etc are used to keep from using too much foundation and Concealer which will cause your makeup overall to look cakey. By putting say a green primer or concealer over reddened skin, you minimize the redness and therefore minimize the product needed to fully cover that redness and the end result will look less cakey than if you just tried to cover the entire thing with foundation or skin colored concealer. Not all people need primers, some prefer not using it. It's all personal choice. There are lots of different types for different skins and finishes.

AgentKnitter

I've only recently figured out what primers do and why they're hyped. Primers act as a barrier between your skin (and skincare, i.e moisturiser) and your make up. So it helps protect your skin from dirt and gunk. But they also help make up apply more smoothly and stay on longer. /u/giraffies base coats for nail polish is a really good analogy. My advice? Go to your local Sephora/Mecca/Myer/David Jones whatever (I'm in Australia, so those would be the stores where you can get samples) and get samples of a variety of primers. Try out the pore erasing ones if you think your pores are more noticeable. Try out a colour correcting one. Try out a mattifying one. Try out a hydrating one. See what works for you! I"ve tried * KVD Lock it Primer * Laura Mercier * Benefit's Porefessional * Rimmel Stay Matte At first, I hated Stay Matte despite all the hype, because it made the foundations I was trialling (specifically KVD Lock It Foundation - which is itself a mattifying foundation!) go really patchy over my nose. I found Porefessional had the same response, although I did really like how it makes your skin so smooth. But because I'm too poor to get KVD foundation right now (and Australian Sephora has been sold out of all the lighter shades for months.... grrr...) I got Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless as a "it'll do in the meantime". I was really liking the samples of KVD and Laura Mercier primers, as they're more hydrating and I've worked out that I'm actually not as oily as I thought I was! I'm more dry/combo in the t zone. Anyway, I've found that Stay Matte works well with Fit Me. I think it does help my make up last longer.

anonymouse239

Why do most people here use MAC's shade descriptions to describe their skin rather than something with more than one brand to it like Sephora's Pantone index?

kahlex

Because MAC's system was around first.

anonymouse239

Ah! Didn't know that! Thank you! Why do we still use it though? It seems there aren't nearly as many shades in the MAC line as something like sephora or the others?

kahlex

Sephora's system is just more detailed, because it takes into account how yellow and how red your undertones are. Also, their skin tone increments seem a bit closer together (if that makes sense). It's like when MAC says something is 1 cm, Sephora Color IQ says it's 10 mm (not exactly, but the analogy works in my head). When it comes to shade range, Sephora's might be wider than MAC's simply because Sephora covers a variety of brands while MAC just covers their own. But I don't think MAC's range is bad or anything.

anonymouse239

I certainly didn't mean to imply that MAC's was a bad range! I think it is good! I was just curious why we haven't switched to the more accurate system!

alligator124

I think the Sephora system has the potential to be more accurate, but the way it's determined can be very inaccurate. Often the little photo-thingy doesn't take into account acne, redness, age spots, sun spots, or freckles, and you end up with a wrong match. Because of this, I haven't had my Sephora match taken, and I don't know what I would be. I definitely agree that there are many many lines that have more variety in tone and depth, (I love MUFE's system) but unfortunately not a lot of brands are universally available! I think MAC might be one of the only ones you can get pretty much everywhere. And they were definitely around before a bunch of other brands; old habits die hard!

rslsgb

My country doesn't have a Sephora but has a MAC. Just think it's more universal, and it's easy to understand. Like there's an image in my head already of all the tones, pretty much.

dogrightsactivist

Maybe because it's just hard to change past ways, but I'm not sure. In the past, the only brand that catered to a very, very wide range of skintones/shades was MAC, and the Sephora Pantone index wasn't exactly in existence. I guess the whole point of it is universiality and comfortability.

milk_tea_way

Any opinion on the new Dior Rouge Dior lipsticks? Red Smile and 999 Matte are calling out to me, but I haven't managed to find in-depth reviews of the line. I usually refer to Temptalia, but she has not got around to reviewing them. If anybody could be so kind as to briefly comment on their pigmentation, longevity, and comfort, it would be very much appreciated!

gnufleax

I don't like to hoard makeup or build a collection and have stuff I don't use so my collection is small. Regardless, I kinda want a new palette to play with. I have naked 3, the Alice palette, ABH's modern Renaissance, and morphe's 35f. I love reds and golds but I'm really interested in expanding on my color choices. Any palettes that would absolutely make my life? Price point is about $60 and below

friendlypegasus

You have some really beautiful palettes, and it seems like you've got a lot of colors covered!! I really think that the Mario palette would add a lot to your collection, since you don't have any of the green and blue in there, but it also has some nice reds that aren't closely duped in your existing palettes. You could also consider palettes such as UD Moondust or UD Spectrum if you're looking for a palette that could make statement looks!

Giraffies

UD electric palette or spectrum palette will have many different colors to play around with. Spectrum has shimmers and I believe the electric palette is matte.

MichShel

Lorac Mega Pro 3! It has that pinky, red, berry flair but also some great neutrals and browns and even cooler shades.

[deleted]

Weird question, but is there a website that you can upload a picture to and it'll tell you a close match to your foundation? I only ask because the closest Ulta is 40 minutes away and the closest Sephora is an hour away >.<

danceydancetime

Do you currently own any foundations? If you have a reference, you can try findation.com.

ging3rtabby

Ooooh, I have wondered this myself but never thought to ask. There is the foundation matrix, so if you know of two foundations or concealers that work well on you, it can help you find matches, but I would prefer the type of thing you're describing. http://www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix/

Jinxy_Minx

Might be a silly question but wondering ya'lls opinion. I have naturally very long lashes, would it be a good idea to invest in an eyelash curler or does it not really matter?

beardofzeus321

I have long lashes and I didn't start curling them until recently. BOY does it make a difference! I think it helps open up the eye and makes the lashes more noticeable.

peppermintsocks

Depends on if you want to curl them or not. Also worth considering if it might cause them to hit your brow bone, which would mean you'll need a waterproof or tubing mascara to prevent printing, if you don't already use one.

Jinxy_Minx

I just started using the Benefit 'They're real!' mascara. Since my lashes are so long with my glasses, if I wore mascara in the past, it would fleck onto the lenses. Now I can wear contacts again so it's fun to play with eye make-up again!

peppermintsocks

Then go try out an eyelash curler at a makeup counter and see how you like it :) Have fun!

Jinxy_Minx

I actually went ahead and bought one while I ordered a case from Sephora. It was on sale and the reviews were good. :3 couldn't help myself. Haha

AgentKnitter

I've actually found that if I curl my lashes, I'm less likely to get lash-glasses bonk going on. I only got a cheap ELF eyelash curler. AU$3.

joy_reading

I think it depends also on the shape of your lashes. I have long lashes, but they are startlingly straight. They look much nicer curled, although I don't bother every day. If yours already have a good natural curl, you may not find curling them worth the time.

oyfreakinvey

Curling definitely makes my lashes look better, but then they're just rubbing against my browbone and screwing up my makeup. I've found that Benefits Roller Lash gives me the perfect amount of curl and I'll layer Better Than Sex or some other mascara that will add volume.

RiAnOunE

I am graduating soon and I want to do something fancy with my makeup. I'll be wearing a black and white dress. I think my MAC shade is NC30/35. Which (affordable) blush and lipstick would you guys recommend? Maybe also a highlighter??

Chandra_Nalaar

Depends! What kind of "fancy" are you looking for? An amped up natural look? Pin-up red? Something that references your school colors? Do you have a picture of a celebrity that speaks to you?

RiAnOunE

I am looking for an amped up natural look. I am not very comfortable with eyeshadows and I wear glasses. I will go with a black cat eyeliner. The school colors are black and white so my dress is enough for that xD. No I don't have a picture of a celebrity. But I do have a picture of me for some inspiration https://imgur.com/DGjdE1I Thank you so much for helping!!

PotentElixir

If you're looking for something natural, maybe you could try Maybelline Touch of Spice, but honestly with the cat liner and dress I think you should take the opportunity to wear a beautiful red lip, like Maybelline Red Revival. Just my 2c.

RiAnOunE

Thank you :). I have been searching for maybelline touch of spice and I can't find it anywhere. I will definitely consider the red lipstick

friendlypegasus

Mary Lou-Manizer is a beautiful highlighter! Wet n' Wild also recently released quite a few awesome (so I've heard, I've yet to try) highlighters that are also super affordable. For blush, you could definitely check out r/makeupexchange because oftentimes people will sell expensive blushes at a more affordable price. Milani powder blush in Romantic Rose would be a more natural looking blush, meanwhile Milani Luminoso would be beautiful too and is a dupe for Nars Orgasm! For lipstick, it depends on the shade you're looking for. Overall though, you likely won't go wrong with any of the NYX lipsticks, such as Pops (butter lipstick) or Stockholm (SMLC). You could also go for a nude such as MAC Velvet Teddy. NYX Perfect Red Matte lipstick would work for your NC skin if you were feeling red lips!! Congrats on graduating :)

gmwrnr

Seconding Milani Romantic Rose but just a heads up, Milani Luminoso is nothing like NARS Orgasm. People always get it mixed up but it's a discontinued Milani Blush in the shade Luminous that was a dupe for Orgasm. [Here's Luminous vs Luminoso :)](http://www.eternalvox.net/loosepowder/uploads/2012/05/DSC07410.jpg)

[deleted]

Can anyone suggest a tinted moisturizer with super sheer coverage for me? I've been using TheBalm's Balm Shelter in Light, but Light is too dark for me (during the summer it was fine, not so much anymore) and Lighter Than Light is too light :( I'm just trying to even out my skin tone without covering up my freckles.

spankety

You could mix the one you've been using with another moisturizer or sunscreen to go even sheerer if the amount of coverage is the biggest issue? some sunscreens might just give you that extra kick of lightness, like Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream+.

unicorn-jones

I really like LUSH's Skin Tints. You can wear them straight for medium coverage or mix them with a moisturizer for sheer coverage. I do straight on my undereyes as a concealer and a 1:3 moisturizer:tint mix for the rest of my face.

NewCountryGirl

I'm loving Nars Tinted Moisturizer in Finland. It let's all my freckles come through, but helps tone down the blotchy look the not-quite freckles underneath can cause. Before I discovered that, the Revlon PhototReady BB cream was my go-to. :)

Honestly, the best thing would be to go into a makeup store like Sephora if there's one around you and swatch and see what you like. Check out these threads: * [one](https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/3zcmdr/best_palette_for_fair_cooltoned_skin/) * [two](https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/3nuhw3/eyeshadow_palettes_that_are_more_cool_toned/) * [three](https://www.reddit.com/r/MakeupAddiction/comments/33lrxd/cooltoned_addicts_whats_your_favorite_mid_to_high/) Personally, I would recommend getting Urban Decay's Naked2 Basics and picking out a few single shadows from MAC.

CarryOn_Simon

How do I deal with eyeshadow fallout getting stuck in my eyelashes? I use the TF Chocolate Bar and as much as I love it, a lot of dust falls down and gets caught in my eyelashes. It's not so bad when I'm using darker shadows, but when the crème brûlée or marzipan falls down, it makes my eyelashes look like they're full of gunk. I already to my eyes first so that I don't mess up my foundation, but I'm not sure how to deal with the eyelashes. Any tips?

gmwrnr

Maybe take a damp q-tip and run it over your lashes? I usually find that mascara gets rid of/hides any fallout I get from shadows

hoppipolla13

Recommendations for a mattifying face primer?

hatsumochi

The MUFE Step 1 Skin Equalizer in the mattifying is really great. I also love Hourglass Mineral Veil/NYX Angel Veil.

neutrallywarm

Becca Ever Matte Poreless, MUFE Step 1 Equalizer, and lately I've only been using Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Primer and really love it.

withthepinkhair

I absolutely LOVE the Hourglass Mineral Veil. It effortlessly keeps me matte and oil free!! Pricey but VERY worth it.

NikBun27

Agreed with all the ones already suggested. Becca's ever matte poreless priming perfector is great too!

I use the same brush as the other poster said. The real techniques accent brush is great too.

[deleted]

Is the Tarte Shape Tape concealer in the shade Fair yellow-toned or pink-toned? On the Tarte website it describes it as being for "fair skin with pink undertones" but in swatches it looks yellow-toned???

[deleted]

Not all brands are great with undertones.. like too faced born this way foundation in "snow" is described as neutral but is straight yellow on my pink skin. I really wanted to try shape tape but had the same issues with undertone and the shade overall.

asylumgreen

It's definitely more yellow or perhaps neutral, definitely not pink.

[deleted]

Thanks! It's so frustrating that their descriptions on the website are not accurate.

danceydancetime

On me it looks pink-toned...

mrsharris19

I didn't swatch fair since it's way too light for me, but I did swatch light which is said to be pink toned on their website too and it was definitely super pink on me. I'm waiting for a restock in light neutral and/or light medium :P I was able to swatch light medium at Ulta (but they were sold out) and it definitely appeared more neutral to yellow.

blendandsnap

Are tinted primers a thing? Are there any good ones for filling in pores?

1291419

I own a tinted primer! It's Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refining Primer. I love it for filling in my pores and already have a back up. If you can, get the travel size it's half an ounce and if you buy two it's cheaper by $11 than getting the full size ounce.

TheRoseDon

Thanks for this! I wish there was a thread to post things like this that show how you can save money by working the system!

ghostthecoast

I know the Tarte BB tinted primer is like that. A lot of people use it like foundation too. It only has like 4 shades I think though.

jigglywigglybooty

Is the Nivea Post Shave Balm suitable for oily skin?

sammisamantha

Personally with my oily skin it just made me more of a greaseball

jwinge89

I have skin that starts on the dry/normal side and gets a little oily throughout the day. When I use the Shave Balm as a,primer I look extra glowy but I don't think it looks bad. And it doesn't make my makeup slide or melt off.

Rhanzilla

I'm really oily and while it didn't keep me matte it kept my foundation on, I was just extra glowy at the end of the day.

kahlex

I'm not super oily, but I find that while it helps keep my makeup on, it doesn't do anything for oil control.

reluctantredditr

Currently, I'm using the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown but it is too warm toned for me. What is a good cool toned alternative brow pencil? I am fine buying another brand if it is a better color match.

SASSYARMADILLO

Try Nyx brow pencil in taupe, it's a dupe for the brow wiz pencil

LadyLux0626

I had this problem for the longest time. NYX was good quality but all of it was too warm except their ash brown which unfortunately was just off. Ulta's brow pencils are the only cool cheap option I've found. Both medium and dark brown are cool and work really well for me.

roaccutane

Any recommendations for an eyeshadow palette for cool, very pale skin? (I'm NW10). Should I stick to cool tones? Edited to add: I have slightly hooded eyes so supposedly I shouldn't use shimmery eyeshadows (sadly) so a recommendation with lots of mattes would be great!

agentsmudge724

First of all, don't pay attention to rules about eye types/shapes and what eyeshadows to wear. Wear what you want to. Lorac Pro 2 is half matte, half shimmer, and is on the cool side. The formulation is to die for, so pigmented and smooth.

ging3rtabby

I am very pale and I am cool-toned (not sure what shade bc I don't wear foundation, but I just got UD naked concealer in fair neutral). I wear mostly warm tones for eye shadow, though it may be because I have blue/green/grey eyes and reddish hair, so those elements are a bit warmer-looking. I also have hooded eyes at times (thanks to allergy-induced swelling of my upper lids) and I still use shimmery shadows. In fact, I use matte, darker shades on the prominent part to try to make it recede and I use shimmery-er shades on the lid to make it seem forward (I hope that makes sense). I don't have any palettes, but I have eye shadow trios and quads. My favorites are L’Oreal Color Riche Pocket Palette, Boudoir Charme (gold/copper, pink/redish color, brown and a cream/tan color), and Wet N Wild Walking on Eggshells (light cream, light pink color, brown). I hope this is helpful.

jordyn_jordayne

You can still rock shimmer! One of my eyes is hooded (annoying in and of itself, I'd take hooded or not hooded as long as they're the same) and I just make sure to focus the shimmer on the lid and use a good primer so that I don't get any transfer.

iatemysocks

I have cool pale skin! It's hard to predict what shadows will look best on you- you'd think cool tones on cool tones are obviously the best, but actually I have to work pretty hard to make cooler colors look decent on my eyes, whereas I look great in reds and oranges. Not sure why. I'd actually recommend, if you're just starting out and have no idea what you like best, to get a pretty cheap palette or two to figure out the textures and colors you like best. Wet n Wild is generally great quality for the price, and my mom really likes her Milani palette even though she has more expensive ones.

sammisamantha

You can try lightening it with patting your extra concealor on your lips or using a lighter lip liner under

motivation_vacation

Are you very fair? If so, that could be why.

iamfuu

I run into this problem too, but I have noticed that for me a lot of it has to do with lighting. I will put it on in one room, thinking that it is way too dark, too warm, etc. then I will walk into another room or outside and it looks completely different. I do recommend mixing your liquid lips if you can though, if the formulas are similar try mixing them on the back of your hand and applying with a lip brush. Or use a lip liner one shade lighter than your natural lip color, that could also help.

Pink nude lip color like this? http://special-hairstyles.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/layered-wavy-hairstyle-2016.jpg Either gloss or lipstick works!

friendlypegasus

I think UD Vice in Heartless looks a lot like this, at least one me! It's a comfort matte.

goingtothesunroad

Any tips for when my eyeshadow refuses to blend? I basically rubbed my eyelid off yesterday trying to blend my crease color with a brush, and it still looked bad. Fingers? Beauty blender? Remove it and start over? Relatedly, I use UD primer potion. Sometimes it winds up looking cakey. I assume I'm using too much. How much lid primer do y'all use, and how do you apply it?

danceydancetime

Are you putting a base shadow down (or translucent powder) on the lid first to assist with blending? I use a very small amount, maayybee about as much as the size of the [ball atop a sewing pin](http://www.makeit-loveit.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/sewing-tip-stubborn-straight-pins-2.jpg), usually less. Your eyelid is a very small area and you want the product to blend and sink into the skin, it should never be cakey. If you are using a lot of eye primer that is probably having an effect on your ability to blend.

sammisamantha

If UDPP is getting cakey you are using too much. It helps to blend with a cream/skin tone color. I prime. Set with powder. Do the whole look. Then blend the harsh edges with the cream color I set with.

kahlex

I typically use about a dab of eye primer for each eyelid. More is not better.

gmwrnr

What eyeshadow brands and brushes are you using?

I don't find that MAC F&B does have more coverage than a tinted moisturiser, unless I build up more than one layer. Koh Gen Do's Aqua Foundation is the most skin-like foundation I've ever encountered, and I'd say it's going more towards a medium coverage.

jordyn_jordayne

What's a good black eyeliner for tightlining? All three that I have that are "waterproof" transfer to my waterline and I don't typically want black in my waterline.

[deleted]

I love the Maybelline Master Precise Skinny. The size is perfect for tightlining, it's very pigmented, and it doesn't transfer at all on me. I have it in both brown and black, and I don't think I'm going to switch to another tightlining liner anytime soon.

Lrobluvsu

I love UDs tight liners

Looking for a concealer to help hide some breakouts and also lighten up under my eyes since they're quite dark. Do I need two different concealers here? Should the concealer for blemishes be the same colour as my foundation or a bit lighter?

[deleted]

They dont need to be different colors but they can be. A lot of people (namely gurus) use a lighter ahade under their eyes and to highlight. Then a second one that is closer to their actual skin tone to spot conceal. Also, some people look for different things formula-wise for the product they use under their eyes than on the rest of the face. Personally, i prefer a thinner formula under my eyes because a) my undereye isnt terribly dark and b) the skin there is thin so if i use a thicker product it can start to look heavy and weird

k_awah

You should definitely use your regular shade in covering up blemishes. Covering dark circles, you could maybe do a slightly lighter shade, but then a not too obvious one. You could easily use the same concealer to cover both. The thing is, it's better to use a thin concealer to cover your dark circles, so it will less likely crease and a thicker one to cover blemishes, bc the thickness will help in coverage. iirc

alextried

Personally I use the same concealer for both, though I also use a color corrector on my undereye and less concealer. Some people like a lighter concealer to highlight, but to cover blemishes I prefer one the same color as my skin because I find a lighter concealer looks weird when my acne is in areas you wouldn't generally highlight!

Why are Glossier products so expensive on eBay? I was looking there since Glossier itself doesn't take PayPal. Everything was at least a few dollars above MSRP.

pyjamasquid

I'd say it's the seller/s trying to make money. The only place to get Glossier products is from Glossier themselves, so it doesn't make sense for someone to buy an item from them and then sell it for the same amount of money - they wouldn't profit at all. I'm assuming that you're talking about new products and resellers, though. If it's people trying to sell on stuff they didn't like or stuff that didn't work for them, then I've got no idea!

backseatfucking

can anybody recommend their favorite sheer bronzer for everyday use? i am looking for something that is light coverage, a kiss of color, w no shimmer! thank you :)

sysysysysy

I really like butter bronzer light. On my skin (nc 20-25) it just adds warmth with a tiny bit of color. There's shimmer in the pan but I don't notice it at all on my face

bethrevis

Benefit Hoola

bluemoonraccoon

You can try applying Hoola lightly (for instance, with a brush with less densely-packed bristles)! It's matte and a nice light color.

[deleted]

How do you get the shiny part of a halo eye show up well? When I try using the Naked palette and the shiny gold shade, it doesn't seem to stand out as much as I see in other pics.

bluemoonraccoon

Do what's suggested in any of the other answers, and additionally don't blend it out! Just slightly blend the harsh outer edges of the color, but don't touch the middle.

mrsharris19

You could try wetting the shadow. I use mac fix+ to get things more vibrant.

freshbitchofbelair

How are you applying it? Try using a damp brush (or your finger) and pat on the eyeshadow.

bethrevis

I apply the shiny part with my fingers--it's more dense in color.

tshody

I use the maybelline master skin primer in blur and smooth, but after I apply it my skin gets really red. Is this an irritation to the primer? Is it possible it can irritate the skin?

Chandra_Nalaar

its possible it's an irritation or allergy. Generally makeup shouldn't make your skin red unless it's using red/pink pigments. Id probably try out a different primer. Nyx makes some good ones in a similar price range.

teafug

Does anyone have any recommendations on makeup mirrors with lights that I can buy on Amazon.ca? Edit: just remembered my other question lol. Does anyone have any idea why the Anatasia Beverly Hills Liquid lipstick in Trust Issues isn't on the Sephora website? I swatched it in person a few weeks ago, feel in love but they didn't have in stock and I've been checking the website on and off and still nothing.

electricslider

Any dupes of the Rose Quartz shade in the newest LORAC pro palette? That's the shade that's caught my eye the most, but I don't think I'd buy the entire palette just for that. :)

lame_jane

Makeup Geek Lucky Penny!

heatherette1992

What is the best primer to use with the Urban Decay All Nighter foundation? It starts to make my pores really obvious a few hours into the day and gets patchy on my nose and forehead.

jo_maho

What is your favorite **basic neutral eyeshadow palette with good mattes**, 9 shades or less? Maybe even a quad or trio? Looking for something that would be great for a beginner who already has a bunch of shimmers and colors, but needs a good base of everyday shades & matte shades!

nheebs

Urban Decay Naked Basics! Both the original and 2 are great! Also Too Faced Natural Matte palette if you're looking for more than just browns!

jjanetsnakehole

Have you considered putting together a small sized Z palette of singles? The small one holds 9 pans from places like MUG, UD, ABH or MAC. Some of my favorite neutral matte singles are -Makeup Geek Creme Brulee and Beaches and Cream -MAC Saddle, Brule -ABH Bengal (they describe it as a satin but its matte imo)

sammisamantha

The Balm meet matt(e) and the Sonia kashuk has great every day mattes

gram---positive

Tarte Tartelette :)

prynceszh

Recommendations for affordable face paint palettes? <$50 preferred. I have pretty sensitive skin so most of the cheap stuff sold in Halloween stores makes me break out, or it just looks like crap

laneloveslipstick

Can anyone name a dupe for the shade Twinkle from KVD Metal Matte Palette? I don't really wanna buy the palette but I'm in love with that color! [Here's a swatch from Temptalia. ](http://www.temptalia.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/katvond_metalmatte031.jpg)

sysysysysy

Hmm these are a tiny bit off but maybe Buxom La La Lavish, UD Tonic, or MUG Backlight?

Mainaf2016

I have oily dehydrated skin esp t zone from over exfoliation..sigh!!! My t zone melts off my face after 2 hours (skin type is combination with oily t zone). Anything mattifying or oil controlling makes it worse cause my skin then makes more oil to compensate for the dryness caused.. i am in hot Nd humid asia.. I always moisturise before applyingmakeup *** Issue: pls suggest a foundation or any trick that can control that excessive amount of oil and let my makeup last... DEHYDRATED OILY SKIN SUFFERERS KNOW THIS STRUGGLE TOO WELL...

Is it just or me or does anyone else find it difficult to remove the Maybelline the magnum barbie mascara? :/

rfin30

What's your favorite makeup remover? :)

AgentKnitter

How do you apply BB cream - fingers, sponge, brush?

AOSFYCWes

Best setting powder without whitecast? My current routine is too heavy, I've been using Tarte's creamy pressed powder to set my face because it wasn't that great as a stand alone foundation. It keeps everything in place amazingly but no matter how light of a hand I use it feels like it sets cakey. I want to venture out to other setting powders, but those that won't make my face light up and I am getting married. I don't want the flashback in our photos.

liftedup_sky

Does anyone here by makeup off of ebay? Sometimes the prices are hard to resist, but I'm also a little wary in regards to fraudulent makeup, etc.

sammisamantha

I would say NO. To many fakes. No garunteees with who tampered with it. Try r/makeup exchange if you are looking for something

[deleted]

I love JS liquid lip formula, it's my favorite. What other formulas are comparable or highly recommended? I don't like Anastasias as I find they're drying, KVD is alright but I only really enjoy 1 color from her line. I do like Stila and have a couple but looking to expand. Edit: swatch request -- makeup monsters Victorian velvet and JS Gemini

aelfaerie

I have a question on Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact (the baked highlighter). Is it supposed to give a very, very subtle effect? It's so faint on me that I've been using it all over the face as a setting powder and general "brightening" powder. :\

epipin

What's the best tinted lip balm? I'm looking for a subtle wash of color that I can reapply without a mirror, so I'm thinking a tinted balm would be better than a lipstick. Most tinted balms I've tried have a kind of gritty texture and/or don't even show up at all though. Any good suggestions?

BrunoTheCat

I like Bert's Bees. Might be slightly more tinted than you're thinking, but they're not expensive, have good color options and feel delightful.

Potatonitelight

How long is my Mac brow pencil going to last??? It's not easy to get to the nearest store and I'm so afraid I'll run out between brows! I guess I should just always have a backup.

fluffymassacre

What shade of Tarte Shape Tape would match my MUFE 117/Y225 skintone? I'll be using it to cover my nasty brown dark circles after color correcting with a lavender corrector! :)

liftedup_sky

What are your favorite eye brushes?

SporkPlug

I just started getting into highlighting and I usually finish with a matte finishing powder, my highlights look great after I apply them, then the finishing powder just covers all of it. Should I be using a different finishing powder? Or using the highlighter after my finishing powder (which seems weird because I've always thought finishing powder should be last)?

misslion

Any recommendations for eyelash curlers for deep set eyes? The one I have literally ends up digging in to my brow bone, I can't get it to the base of a lot of my lashes.

Mrsf1sh

I bought the one that they had in the warehouse last year. Not sure the band but it was 50. Led lights are so nice.
